Delta Children’s Products {Review}

We don’t buy our kids a lot of toys. We don’t need to, because we have enough Grandmas and Aunties who do that for them! My daughter’s birthday was in October and my son’s was in December, so by the time Christmas had come and gone it felt like the quantity of things in my kids’ rooms had expanded by 1,000! Something had to be done. We had to contain the mess!

Delta Children’s Products has been creating children’s furniture, baby gear, decor, and storage solutions since 1967. They strive to produce children’s furniture for families who seek stylish design, quality, safety and affordability. A tall order to fill, but they manage to do it well. They offer hundreds of products, from cribs to toddler beds, changing tables to dressers, strollers, play yards and organizational products. Of course, we were the most interested in the organizational section and settled on a toy chest we knew our daughter would go crazy for!

We received the Princess Wooden Toy Box to review. It came packaged in a thin box that was easy to carry in the house and unpack. All of the parts were easy to find and the directions were clear and easy to read (not that my husband needed them, of course…).

Assembly was fairly easy, though my hubby did have to make an emergency trip to Home Depot for more screws because he says the ones the toy box came with were “not the best quality” and they stripped easily, making them unusable. This was after he’d put the first side on the wrong side then had to remove it and put it on the other side, thus having to screw and unscrew the (not-the-greatest-quality) screws more than intended. Moral of the story? Read the instructions carefully so you don’t have to re-do anything and potentially strip your screws 😉

But, minus the Home Depot run, it only took about an hour to assemble the toy box. The wood is thick and good quality, and the safety hinge on the lid is strong, so I don’t worry about the lid falling and smashing my little ones’ fingers. Thanks to this nifty toy box, we were able to take this completely uncontained mess…

…to THIS!!! And check out that HAPPY girl sitting proudly atop her new toy box!

She GLADLY helped put her toys away in her new box and to this day loves sitting and playing on her new toy chest, and helping to clean up! Delta Children’s Products sells many more types of kids furniture including toy bins, chairs, beds, chests, easels, desks and much more in licensed characters and classic colors like white, cherry and light wood. Delta Children’s Products can be purchased at children’s retailers such as Babies-R-Us, Buy Buy Baby, K-Mart and Target, as well as online at Amazon.com. See a complete list of retailers here.

Well, I don’t know about you ladies, but I had a fabulous Mother’s Day. My hubby let me sleep in, made breakfast for me and the kids, helped get the kids ready for church so I had time to curl my hair, and then he made dinner AND cleaned it up. He also got me beautiful flowers, a thoughtful card and a hand-made gift from the kids (which was hand-made at Lowe’s and stamped with their logo. Thanks, Lowe’s. I always wanted to remember you on Mother’s Day). But anyway, our big day is over, and now it’s time to start thinking about how to spoil our men for their big day in less than a month! Luckily, we here at Dandy Giveaway have got some cool giveaways coming down the pipes made especially for that special guy in your life. My first one is a super cool watch made out of wood. Yes, wood!

WeWOOD Watches specializes in crafting watches out of wood. But don’t worry; they’re not deforesting the earth to make their watches, all of their watches are made from recycled wood, remnant pieces of wood flooring, or wood that is otherwise unusable and/or sustainable. Cool, right? On their website they list where the wood comes from for each style of watch they make. For example, this Jupiter watch in Black was made from Blackwood, which, according to the description on their site, is very easy to grow and therefore very sustainable.

Even cooler is the fact that for every watch purchased, they plant a tree! They work with the American Forests non-profit as well as Trees for the Future to plant new trees all over the world. Their philosophy is “The best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” They are definitely doing their part to preserve and rebuild our ecosystem, so you can feel good about buying one of their watches. And they have tons of cool ones to choose from! You can check out their collection here, but below are some of my favorites:

This watch, the Moon in Brown, is dainty enough it could be worn by a female. Beautiful styling.

And how stylish does the Metis in Chocolate look? This could easily make the transition from work to home to church no problem. A very versatile piece.

I was sent the Date watch in Beige (which comes from Maple wood, if you’re interested) and my hubby loves it! It’s super light (1.5 ounces!), which is nice for him because he’s used to wearing watches that weigh upwards of 3 lbs. Seriously. He loves that it’s unique and definitely a conversation-starter, but not so “unique” that it comes off as weird. If your man works in a field where he would be exposed to water constantly you might want to consider a different watch; it’s definitely not water-proof but “splash-proof” (wood expands when it gets wet, so over time, repeated water exposure would cause the links to become less flexible). You can clean the watch with a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice, and changing the battery and removing the links to make it smaller are all done just like a regular watch, so there’s no surprises there.

Even on my hubby’s uber-hairy arms (love you babe!), this watch looks cool, and I definitely like it a whole lot more than his old plastic-y “sport” watch. WeWOOD’s watches are definitely one-of-a-kind and something you can feel good about buying for your Husband/Dad/Brother/whoever this Father’s Day. Oh what’s in a name!  I already know I might sound a little crazy when I tell you that I constantly stew over what to name my future children.  Half the time when I can’t sleep, I play around with middle names in my head till I fall asleep.  I think a name is so important, and the first gift you can give your child!  I want it to be something I will love saying a million times, and something THEY will love hearing a million times.  Once its official, I am a sucker for any opportunity to display that name anywhere and everywhere, and Craft Cuts is one of the classiest places to do just that!

What is so incredible about this store is their ability to cut out wood lettering in practically any font your heart desires.  From cutesy curly girly fonts, to strong statement letters, you can design just the look you want for your room or bedroom.

Classy block letters for the family room!

I LOVE these letters on ribbons!  Adorable for a bedroom above a crib, or also quaint for living room décor above a couch.

And a personal favorite, wood wall letter tiles!!

What a treasure trove of supplies for artsy people looking to personalize their home!  Anyone with a creative bone in their body will have a ball perusing this shop, but if you don’t consider yourself very artsy-fartsy, Craft Cuts can certainly do all this leg work for you!  You can purchase any name already hand-painted, pre-stained, and tied with ribbon if you desire!  They really allow you to be completely creative with their blank letters, but they also can take care of you if anything in the crafty department makes you nervous, and you’d rather have it professionally done for you.

We had the huge honor of picking out some letters for our home.  I decided I wanted to make a sign of our last name to have on display in our home for as long as we live.  Though Craft Cuts can definitely design your name on a board for you (as seen here with their lettering on a base), we wanted to put it together ourselves, so I just ordered the letters individually and unpainted.  As soon as my letters arrived, I was DYING to put them together!

Here is the hubby marking things just right before we drilled them into the board to keep them steady.

I turned on a little Dancing with the Stars and painted them up with basic tempera paint and a polyurethane gloss.  Easy peasy.

I am SO SATISFIED and thrilled about the way it turned out!  Classic, professional, and something that will always be on display.

Now I just need some holiday company over to see our majestic addition to our home décor!

Craft Cuts has quite an extensive selection of so many more products besides wood lettering.  Check out their craft kits, home decor, vinyl wall lettering, and stencils!

Get ready to get your crafty face on because one winner will receive a $30 giftcard to Craft Cuts!
