Armpocket {Giveaway}–CLOSED

As I’ve mentioned before, I’m training for my first half-marathon (in two weeks!). One thing I can’t live without while I run is my phone, because it has both my music and my pace/distance apps on it, and without those my training runs are very tedious. But carrying my phone while I run is NOT an option, because I have a tendency to drop my phone. I had an armband for my old phone, but when I upgraded I was in need of a new one. I always seem to be carrying a million things while I run (keys, chapstick, a hanky to wipe my nose/sweaty face, water, etc.), so I thought I was going to need to buy one of those dorky runner fanny-packs. But, after doing some research for a new armband, lo and behold, Armpocket was invented to solve that very problem!

Armpocket is exactly what it says: a “pocket” for your arm! It functions like any other armband except it has room inside to hold way more than just a phone. Armpocket makes seven different designs: the i-10, i-15, i-20, i-25, i-30, i-35 and Nighthawk. Each case is tailored to different phone size needs as well as stuff-carrying needs, and the Nighthawk features LED lighting on the sides for safety during late night or early morning activities. They all come in a variety of colors so you can choose how bold or bland you want to be.

Each Armpocket comes with room for your phone, and they’ve accounted for space for a case. An elastic band with rubberized grips on it hold the phone in place in front. A touch control window covers the outside so you can still access your phone while it is in its case. Inside the case, there are two different stretchy pockets for holding things safely and securely.  Dual zippers close up the top so I know nothing is going to fall out. Did I mention that this thing is solidly constructed? There’s memory foam and moisture wicking designs on the back to ensure comfort and dryness. The strap is vented and perfectly stretchy to go around my arm and hold the Velcro in place. The Velcro is the kind that won’t catch on my clothes and ruin them, which is great because I hate when fabric gets those awful Velcro-pill marks.

I decided to review the i-30 because I had a larger phone (Galaxy S3) and thought I would need to carry a lot of stuff. After using it for a while, I realize I probably could have gotten away with the i-20 or i-25, but I figure more room is better than less room, right? Plus, I don’t have a case on my phone yet (which I NEED, given my propensity to drop my phone), and that will take up some of the room I have in the case now.  That said, I still love it. I love that it holds all my stuff so I have less to carry and worry about while I run. It is comfortable and leaves me slightly drier than with my other armbands (I’m still a sweaty person, I can’t help that!). I have noticed that the band doesn’t stay up as well when I’m wearing a slippery, long-sleeved shirt, but it stays in place just fine against my bare skin.

What’s also great about the Armpocket is that it is made from eco-friendly materials. The fabric is made from recycled plastic fibers and the back mesh and fabric strap edges are made from natural bamboo rayon. This is awesome because bamboo rayon is moisture-wicking and resistant to bacteria, mold and mildew. I haven’t used my Armpocket long enough to notice, but I’m hoping this means it will be resistant to smelling after a few months (anyone else have that problem with their armbands or am I the only one?!?). But if it does get smelly, the instructions say you can machine wash it in cold water and hang it to dry, which I will do to hopefully prevent the odor issue even further.

Armpocket armbands can be purchased at select sporting goods stores like REI or purchased online, but if you’re not sure which Armband to buy for your phone they have a helpful “Shop By Device” tab in which you select your phone and case size and they’ll suggest which armband will be best for you. There’s also a “Find Your Ultimate Armband” pull-down menu on the Home Page that will help you find the right Armpocket for you. Armpockets start at $19.99, which is a great price for the value! And right now, you can enter to receive an Armpocket of your choice for free!

Over the past couple of months, I’ve commented to my husband about how our boys are at just the perfect ages.  I thought that those days would be fleeting since my youngest just turned two years old last week, but they’ve continued for the most part.  It has amazed me over the past few weeks as they’ve sat in the shopping cart while we go grocery shopping (as long as it’s the rocket cart!), eaten out at restaurants with us (for just the right amount of time — not too long!), and have had a great time at the reading fair at the mall (though the Cat in the Hat character might have helped in holding their attentions!).

One of our favorite “new” activities is taking all of the bikes and car toys outside in the driveway to ride in the afternoons/early evenings.  We noticed that some of the older kids in the circle have scooters, though, and the boys were enamored.  They begged to get a scooter, but I was sure that they weren’t going to be old enough.  My four-year-old, maybe, but my two-year-old?  Not a chance.

I shouldn’t have spoken so soon, though; after a little research online, I came across the YBIKE website.  “YBIKE prepares youngsters (and their parents) for the fun and challenges of walking independently, pedaling a bike, gliding on a scooter or powering a go-kart. Along the way, kids improve their balance, coordination, gross motor skills and confidence.  YBIKE’s complete line of safe, fun and durable wheels features products that appeal to different age and developmental stages. Our energetic audience includes crawlers and pre-walkers through preschoolers and grade school children.”

PEWI

Yes, you read that correctly — includes crawlers and pre-walkers!  These products are designed for children as young as one year old and are developmentally appropriate and safe for their growing bodies.  The YBIKE Pewi is a kid-powered hybrid “Walking/Buddy” ride-on.  YBIKE Pewi lets toddlers as young as nine months old who are crawling or early walkers have freedom of movement to explore their environment.

balance bike

The Original YBike balance bike prepares toddlers for the fun and challenges of riding a pedal bike by improving balance, coordination, gross motor skills and confidence.  This bike is recommended for ages 2-4.

kicker

The YBIKE Kicker was designed with toddlers in mind.  Perfectly sized for preschoolers ages 2 – 5, YBIKE Kicker’s oversized 9 inch rubber wheels and wide footbed lend stability on all surfaces from smooth driveways to off road backyard riding

extremem

The YBIKE Extreme is perfect for any pre-schooler who’s not quite ready for a pedal bike and is looking for a more advanced ride to improve their balance and coordination.  Forget the training wheels and give the Extreme a try!

 explorer

And for ages 5 and up, the YBIKE Explorer has back wheel steering and two easy to grip steering handles that make the ride secure and easy to maneuver.  Sturdy puncture proof tires make riding on and off pavement a breeze.  Kids engage their muscles while having fun, using “kid power” on this sleek three-wheeled Go-Kart.

gliderWe received the YBIKE Glider just in time for my son’s two-year-old birthday, and the boys were so excited to have a chance to try out their very own scooter that was just for them!  I was so happy to see how easy it was to assemble — literally two pieces that snapped right together.  Once everything was in place, I was a little anxious to think of my youngest (who measures in the 25-35th percentile for both height and weight) tearing off down the driveway on this scooter, but I shouldn’t have been concerned.  Once they got the hang of it, both boys were able to easily maneuver the YBIKE Glider and stop as needed.

We love this YBIKE Glider, and I’m impressed with the durability of the product as well as the sturdiness of the materials.  It’s a well-made scooter that is perfectly suited for toddlers and preschoolers.  If you’re looking for a new outside toy for your young kids this spring, I would highly recommend taking a look at YBIKE.
