Let’s talk about health stuff. I’m not a super fan of exercising. Have you seen that work out shirt that says “I hate running” on it. I want it so bad! That way when people see me running while pushing my kiddos in a double stroller around the track they think “Man, look at her go, she hates running but is doing it anyway. Good for her!” Instead of seeing me huffing and sweating and pushing the same double stroller and thinking “Wow, she’s totally out of shape. Why is she sweating so much?!” Haha okay, maybe people wouldn’t think any of those things. When I say I’m not a fan of exercising that doesn’t mean I don’t try to bring healthy goodies into our home for us to eat. When I heard about Raw Revolution I wanted to try them out so bad! I was immediately drawn to the packaging. Then when I started reading the names of all of the bars I was even more excited. I was so thrilled when they decided to team up with me to do a giveaway for you!

raw-rev

I really loved their story so I wanted to share just a bit with you. “Raw Revolution was launched in Alice Benedetto’s home kitchen in 2004. A registered nurse and natural food chef, Alice was looking for something that she could give to her kids – a healthy snack that also tasted good… A lot has changed in the last decade, but some things are the same as they have always been. The ingredients are fresh. The taste is revolutionary. And the story is just beginning.” Doesn’t that just draw you in? This company is totally upfront about their bars and their ingredients. I read through the FAQ page and learned so much about them and wanted to share these instantly with everyone I know that has a food allergy, is vegan, or only eats kosher foods!

They sent me each of their flavors to try. From what I saw on the bars there are three different general descriptions for the bars. At first I divided them up into chocolate ones and non-chocolate ones. I might like chocolate a little bit! Then I realized that above their logo on each of the bars there was one of three different general descriptions for the bars. The first is Fruit, Nut, & Seed Super Food bars.

IMG_4832

Organic Greens Super Food Bar was next. Each of these bars has either spinach powder or spirulina powder in them. Munchkin loved the Apple Cinnamon the best!

IMG_4833

The last is Organic Live Food Bar. I had to look up what “live food” meant. My mind took me off to a place where I opened the little package and things were still growing. Of course that’s not what I found inside. The term “live food” for those of you who might not know, simply means that the ingredients haven’t been processed.

IMG_4834

Besides just tasting a vast majority of the bars I wanted to put one of them to a test. I wanted to see if it gave me energy and made me feel happy. Like I said, I’m not a fan of running, I always feel FANTASTIC after I’m done (okay right after I’m done I just want to lay on the ground and cry a little) but later I feel like I really did something good for my body. On my latest run I decided to give the Dark Chocolate Trail Mix a try. I’m a big fan of the fruit and nut chocolate bars, trail mix, and dark chocolate. It seemed like the best fit. TheFruit, Nut, & Seed Super Food bars all contain chia and sprouted flax seeds. I’m a huge believer in only eating when I’m hungry and that morning I hadn’t eaten yet but the timing was right for going running (meaning of course, the boys were happy, it wasn’t raining, and it wasn’t time for naps). However on the way to the track I got crazy hungry so I decided to have a bit of the bar. It was delicious and not too heavy.  Once I finished running I had some water and decided to finish off the super bar. Later, I realized that it totally satisfied my hunger, I didn’t feel sick after eating and running, and it kept me feeling full for longer than other energy bars I had tried.

I love these bars! I feel happy letting my kiddos have them too. The ingredients aren’t a mystery. When you bite into the bar you can see the nuts and chocolate bits. I highly recommend them! That’s why I am so excited that you have the chance to try some out for yourself!

YumEarth Fruit Snacks {Review}

I still remember the first time we bought fruit snacks. We were going on a road trip with our son, who was only about a year at the time, and we thought we’d get him something new and exciting to eat that would keep him happy through our long trip. Ironically enough, he didn’t like them! Of course, after repeated exposure (and seeing his friends eating the coveted snacks) he grew to love them, and now they’re like gold. Bribery with fruit snacks can get just about anything done! Sadly, fruit snacks aren’t the healthiest of all foods, so I can’t bribe with them all day long.  That is, until I found YumEarth Natural Organic Fruit Snacks.

logo

YumEarth Organics fruit snacks are better tasting and better for you than your average fruit snack.  They are vegan, contain no gluten, dairy, nuts, soy, or artificial colors and dyes, AND they’re actually made from fruit extract. So, you know, they actually taste like FRUIT. Imagine that!

package

The fruit snacks are dry to the touch instead of sticky and they have a chewy consistency, but not sticky-chewy like other snacks. They’re shaped like the fruit that they taste like, and the taste is good! Peach was my favorite, but the other flavors–Strawberry, Cherry and Banana–were also delicious. And because they’re made from fruit extracts, each package has 100% of a child’s daily recommended Vitamin C! My kids gobbled them up, and when I asked them if they tasted any different than the fruit snacks we normally buy, they said no. So, you don’t have to compromise taste and likability to give your kids a healthier option. And with so many kids today with allergens or sensitivities to certain ingredients, it’s nice to know there’s a healthier, more conscientious candy out there for everyone to enjoy! You can check the list of ingredients for each candy here.

In addition to fruit snacks, YumEarth Organics  makes organic lollipops, sour beans, candy drops and gummy bears, all of which are gluten-free, dye- and artificial-color free, contain no high fructose corn syrup, and use ingredients grown on sustainable family farms. YumEarth can be purchased from their website, on other online retailers such as Amazon.com and Drugstore.com, or at local retailers such as Walgreens and Target.

I have a love-hate relationship with foundation.  I love how it looks when done right, but I hate finding a good color match.  I love concealing imperfections, but I hate the ‘masked’ feeling I sometimes get while wearing it.  I literally have a small basket full of liquid foundations from an assortment of brands–Rimmel, Mary Kay, Cover Girl, etc. that have expired from limited usage.  I just can’t find one that I like enough to use it consistently.

I was given the opportunity to review some foundation from Advanced Mineral Makeup, and in hopes of finding a match made in heaven, I bravely went with the liquid.  Lately I’ve only been reviewing powder foundations, and I’ve been completely satisfied, except for the coverage being a little too light sometimes, and in certain seasons and times of the month, I have some redness that I’m trying to conceal.

IMG_4865

After trying it out for a few days, I actually really like it!  You know, I think a big difference between this Liquid Mineral Foundation and all the others I have stashed away is that this is a MINERAL foundation.  This is 100% natural, meaning it doesn’t contain any parabens, preservatives, or harsh chemicals, and it is 100% vegan.  These 1-fl oz. bottles are tall and sturdy, with a high-quality silver pump and sold for $44.
IMG_4867
It really melts into my skin and actually stimulates cell growth–rosemary and aloe bardadensis juices heal the skin and it contains a natural sunscreen.
I was also worried about this liquid being too heavy, but I actually can’t even feel it.  It is practically weightless.  If you need more coverage, this foundation is very buildable, so an additional layer or two provides more coverage, but I doubt it would feel any heavier.

I chose the Ginger Snap shade, and the color couldn’t have been more spot on.  Above are the available liquid foundation colors, and below are the four options for powder foundations.  How fun that the four colors are named after four celebrities and their different but all beautiful skin tones.

It blends in so well!  I’ve had problems in the past with my liquid foundations looking splotchy, drying out my face, or having a hard time looking smooth, but even without a moisturizer underneath, this Advanced Mineral Makeup applied so creamy and effortless.  It is very natural-looking, and advertised as being great for sensitive skin, among all sorts of skin problems like acne, rosacea, broken capillaries, and hyper-pigmented skin.  Below, I applied it just to my cheeks and the side of my face so that you can see how it hides redness and still gives my face a natural appearance.

I am SO happy to have this bottle on my makeup counter.  I’m sure I’ll use it up completely and continue to love the look it creates throughout different seasons of the year.  I’d also love to try their Kabuki brushes and shadows!  Go check em out:

Green smoothie fan?  Love that super ugly look of that super healthy meal?  Love how you know exactly what goes into it, and its kind of a surprise every time as to what this new concoction will taste like?  We are definitely a green smoothie family.  We can buy a ginormous bag of spinach at Haymarket for $3 and have smoothies every morning for a week.  “Rocket” drinks it like milk, and I love knowing that our bodies are chock full of fruits and veggies first thing in the morning, especially so that I can justify my not-so-healthy choices later on in the day.
hs-logo-no-border
I’m fairly positive that if you are a green smoothie junkie, you’re going to be all over this monthly subscription box called Healthy Surprise.  So how do you get this goodness in you?  You subscribe to a “Starter Box”, “Healthy Box”, or a “Large Box”, depending on what size you would like.  The smallest box starts at $33/month, but this includes 16-20 servings!  The Large Box runs for $99, but that is 48-60 servings, people!  The box ships the same day, and on your doorstep arrives a box of delicious, healthy snacks.  Everything included in the box is vegan, gluten-free, healthy, and delicious.  I can attest to this!  Rest assured, everything has been carefully selected by this criteria, and you won’t be disappointed in the great snacks.  No MSG, no corn, no soy, no gluten, no egg, no shellfish, etc., just good and healthy!
IMG_3445
My first impression when I opened the box was that there was SO much food in there!  Of all the monthly subscription boxes I’ve reviewed, Healthy Surprise has the most food, by far.  These aren’t just tiny sample size portions with a lot of wrapper.  These are substantial, practically full-meal sizes.
IMG_3447
I dug right in and starting enjoying some things I’ve never seen before.  Among the goodies this month were: Beanitos black bean chips, Enjoy Life seed and fruit mix, fruit.0 organic fruit snack, Hail Merry almonds, Hail Merry choco macaroons, Homefree chocolate chip cookies (my boys loved them), a Gopal’s power wrap, a Gopal’s brownie, a Cocomo Joe Green Joebar, a Chi Bar cocoa cherry energy bar, and three Righteouslky Raw chocolates in pure dark, divine mint, and synergy spice.  Yum!
The first thing I consumed was this amazing kale granola (excuse me, “greenola”) which was practically two whole meals of goodness.  And so filling!  Plain, with milk, or on top of yogurt, I was so impressed with how delicious kale can taste.  My thoughts on the Mexican power wraps: wow, holy flavor!  I can’t say I’ve tried or seen anything quite like it.  The choco macaroons were my favorite!  They are slightly dehydrated and such a yummy treat, even if they do look like packed dirt clumps.
 IMG_3449
See, everything included kind of had a different look to it, but everything tasted fantastic!!  Just like green smoothies–don’t let the appearance bother you, and you’ll introduce your taste buds to some fantastic flavors, and have the assurance that what you’re eating is healthy healthy healthy!
How fun to have so many surprises in one product!  It is a surprise as to when your box will show up, its a surprise as to what will be inside, but even more, it will surprise you how much you will enjoy these truly healthy and new, exciting products!  If you have resolved to eat better and live a healthier lifestyle, try these boxes from Healthy Surprise!  I, for one, would love to see what is in store for next month’s box!

YOU might be the lucky winner to find out!  One reader will win a starter box from Healthy Surprise!  ($33 value)  And they ship internationally!

Sibu Beauty {Review}

Warning: Use of undefined constant user_level - assumed 'user_level' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/dandysof/dandygiveaway.com/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-google-analytics/ultimate_ga.php on line 524

Every day, I feel like my eyes are being opened to new and natural products and elements that I’ve never before considered would be effective as skin, hair, and beauty products.  Time and time again I have been impressed with what these kinds of products can do!  When I was asked to review a face and body bar, I was somewhat skeptical about how exceptional a bar of soap could be, especially one derived from the tiny sea buckthorn berry.  Have YOU ever heard of a sea buckthorn berry?  I certainly hadn’t, but I’ve become enlightened as I’ve read more about it, since Sibu Beauty sent me their Sea buckthorn face & body bar to review! sibu1

Sibu Beauty offers all sorts of personal care products and supplements focused on nourishing hair, skin, and nails.   So the sea buckthorn berry grows and thrives in the Tibetan Himalayas by fortifying itself with bioactive compounds, including omega-7 fatty acids.  This bar contains all sorts of natural astringents, so while it is cleansing, it is also conditioning your skin.  The oils it contains help to revitalize skin cells and promote tissue recovery, and you’ll be glad to hear it contains no parabens, sulfates, gluten, or artificial preservatives.  Sibu Beauty sources their sea buckthorn through fair trade agreements with local harvesters in Tibet.

IMG_3265 copy

This sea buckthorn cleansing face and body bar smells a lot like oranges, and perhaps the orange-like visual on the front of the box encourages that tendency to compare it to oranges.  After handling the bar to get the thin wrapper off, the residue on my hands felt and smelled a little like I had just peeled an orange, but I love that feel and lingering smell, so I was happy with it.  I’ve been using this bar in the shower all week, and I really don’t have any large points of criticism.  I think it is effective, pretty, and has a great lather–not too many suds, and just enough to feel like you’re getting a good wash with the lather on your hands.  The bar is fairly soft, however, so be careful not to drop it!

IMG_3267 copy
Now the real test: is it really a FACE and body bar?  I love being able to scrub my face in the shower with the soap on my hands, but the soap I have used in the past is usually way too harsh and leaves my skin terribly dry, but this did great!  No drying, no peeling, and my face felt quite moisturized.  I love not having to run to my lotion afterwards.  Even if you get some suds in your eyes, it doesn’t burn like other soaps–just a mild short-lived tingle.  After using it all this week, I feel it will hold up for many many washes, and I can detect the lovely lingering scent all over for several hours afterwards.slide4

After trying out the face band body bar, I am even more intrigued about trying more of Sibu’s products, especially if they smell just as nice!
