When I found out that I was expecting our first son a little over five years ago, one of my very first thoughts (after “Holy cow, it finally worked after trying for one year!” and “Oh, my goodness, it has to come out of me…”) was that I would get to buy a new wardrobe! I was so excited to find all these incredibly cute clothes that would highlight my growing baby bump and to have something new to wear everyday!
Although I did a pretty good job of frequenting a good number of stores and boutiques that specialized in maternity and nursing clothing, I was surprised to find that most of my clothes were from some of my favorite pre-pregnancy stores and could be worn comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy and even during post-partum and nursing without any alterations! Tara featured Mikarose a couple of weeks ago here on Dandy Giveaway and More, and I’m excited to have the chance to highlight how the Mikarose dresses can be used in all stages of pregnancy and even through post-partum and nursing!
 Pregnancy:
Makenna Maxi — So far, I just can’t get enough of these maxi dresses! I love that you only have to put on the one piece of (incredibly comfortable!) clothing and a statement necklace, and VOILA! You can run to do your grocery shopping on your way to meeting some friends for lunch and then to see your husband be promoted all in the same outfit, and all while you’re sporting a baby bump and feeling like you’re wearing pajamas!
Bailey — A friend of mine who is due just one month earlier than I am bought this dress when she was just a few weeks along. I saw her wearing it at church and immediately asked where she got it because I could see the potential to wear this dress comfortably through an entire pregnancy and again when not carrying a baby. She’s due next month (with twin girls!) and wore it again last week; it didn’t look tight and wasn’t tugging anywhere, and she could move without immodestly showing halfway up her thigh or all the way down the front of her.
Nursing:
Valerie — I loved the thick ruching around the middle that can cover that inevitable post-baby pouch and the criss-cross design that makes nursing easier and more modest in public. This half-sleeve length is my absolute favorite, as it’s versatile through most seasons/weather while also covering upper arms that may not have seen the gym in a couple of months.
Avery — How classy is this dress??! I love the wide belt (again, to draw attention away from the middle and to accentuate a waist) while the button top provides easy, discreet access for nursing moms. And, while I’m not usually one to choose pink, this shade caught my eye from the beginning, and I imagine that it would work even with my blonde hair.
Transitional:
Serena — I love the flowy nature of this dress, which makes it a perfect transitional dress in my mind! It can be worn pre-pregnancy without looking like a maternity dress, during pregnancy with lots of material to move and grow into, and after pregnancy for nursing and hiding changing bodies.
Rebecca — I chose this dress to review, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it! The gathered material in the middle makes it possible for me to still fit in it at 27 weeks pregnant with some room to grow, while also providing a way to cover my pouch after the baby is born. The V-cross top makes it easier to nurse in the next few months while also accommodating the constant changing size of my bust. My favorite part of this dress is the sleeves — there are cap sleeves sewn in underneath, and the detail fancies up the dress so I can wear it to the Marine Corps Ball with my husband in November! I was also very pleased with the color, which is a deeper red than I was expecting and a much better color than a bright red would be on my very pale skin.
