Spring has FINALLY sprung!

I don’t know about where you are, but here in St. Louis the sun is shining.  The flowers are blooming.  The grass is turning a brilliant shade of green.  Yep.  It simply glorious outside.  The spring has finally sprung around here!  I knew this day was coming eventually, but I also knew that the weather wouldn’t just suddenly change over night.  Especially not after what we dealt with for what seemed like eternity.  We had the LONGEST winter ever here!  I’m sure this sentiment resonates with the rest of the country; except of course for places like Florida and California.  Most of the country is highly envious of those types of places.  I’m talking the raging, green-eyed monster.  For St. Louis at least there have been signs of the coming days of honeysuckle and lilacs for quite some time now.  Albeit very slowly, but it has been warming up and the forecast hasn’t been predicting any of those crazy snow storms.  In fact the recent thunderstorms and even tornadoes (scary as those are) in the St. Louis area led me to believe that spring really was on its way.  Yes, I believe it’s FINALLY here!

With the spring weather also comes the need for some spring fashion.  That very need actually sent me to the mall last week, but I returned home with much disappointment.  I only made one measly little purchase.  A somewhat (long sleeved; mind you) spring blouse that definitely won’t carry me into summer.  All of the stores must not have been catching on to the hints of spring, because they only had winter clothing in stock.  Heavy sweaters galore, but nothing for spring.  It’s possibly that they are now stocked for spring this week, but I was at the mall LAST week.  I don’t have time THIS week to go back.

In my desperation to have something that I could fit in (remember I just had a baby 9 weeks ago) for this warmer weather I turned to my old standby.  Online shopping.  I will admit that typically I’m a little hesitant with clothes shopping online.  It’s difficult to often know the sizing or how the item will fit.  Generally I’ll only shop online at stores that I’m familiar with already.  Or ones that my friends have recommended.  So it took A LOT of bravery on my part to place an order on a deal site.  But after this purchase:

photo-90I will be purchasing a lot more off of that deal site!

I’m absolutely in love with this top.  I found it on the Jane deal site for only $19.99!  Isn’t that a steal of a deal?  I’m talking waaaaayyyy dandy.  It has these faux buttons up the back.  Seriously going to be my favorite all spring and summer long!

Jane features boutique clothing items for up to 80% off.  Each deal only lasts a matter of days or until they sell out.  So some of the more popular deals are only be around for a few hours!  Like these two deals:

GONE.  Totally gone.  I shouldn’t have waited so long to make my decision.

Good thing they still have plenty of these cute maxi skirts!

I am in love with Valentine’s Day!!  You’d think, after years and years of dreading the day that everyone else had a bouquet of roses delivered and a giant stuffed teddy to carry around at school, that I’d be a hater, but I can’t help falling in love with the idea of being in love!  Now that I have a live-in Valentine and two little sweethearts to love on, I am even more aglow with rosy Valentine feelings and urges to cut out strands of paper hearts and glue together glittery cards!

logoSo what are YOU doing for Valentine’s day?  Do you need a dress for your date night?  24/7 Frenzy has an entire collection of little black dresses, perfect for impressing your sweetheart and looking glam out on the town.

Besides LBD’s, 24/7 Frenzy has an extensive collection of casual dresses, tops, fun rompers, and an impressive number of lacy sleepwear items.  I picked out a pair of something lacy for myself, a microfiber cami and short set, crossdyed and detailed with rosettes.  I found the top to be the perfect type of cami for under button-ups.  Just a little lace to look fancy, while not too sheer or cheap.

Most of the 24/7 Frenzy items range from $40-$50, but you can get free shipping on orders over $100.  For orders under $100, shipping is a flat rate of only $6.99.  Besides clothing, there are also a number of pieces of jewelry I could wear every day:

Fresh Produce {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I love clothes. Let’s just put it out there. We don’t have a very big shopping budget and I rarely buy clothes “just because,” so for almost every birthday and Christmas I ask for money to buy clothes! My style has changed throughout the years (though I still own some of the same tops and skirts from before college), but one thing that has remained the same is my love for color. I love pieces that are bright, cheery and fun!

logo

Fresh Produce is my kind of company–they manufacture clothes that are bright, colorful, comfortable AND made in the USA! They have an impressive line of Women’s clothes, including Plus Sizes, and a beautiful Girls collection. Their clothes are definitely beachy/coastal inspired, and I think when I retire I want to live in a beach house and wear nothing but Fresh Produce clothing every day. Along with clothes, they also carry Accessories such as Jewelry, Hats and Bags, and fun things for the Home. Here is just a sampling of the bright, cheery items they carry:

collage

So after all this talk of color, you’d think I would have chosen something bright and colorful to review, right? Well, I wanted to. Actually, I had a really hard time choosing something to review because there were so many great choices! I knew I wanted a skirt and there were several I had my eye on (all in fun, vibrant colors). But when I saw the Hepburn Long Pencil Skirt, it came down to necessity–I was in need of a good, black pencil skirt, and this one looked perfect.

skirt

The skirt itself is lovely. The material is thick and stretchy (i.e. comfy!) but not cheap-looking. It is nicely tailored with a small kick-pleat in the back (a must with any pencil skirt, right?). The length was a little short for the “long” skirt, but I was okay with it (if you wear it high-waisted it hits right at the knee). What I was (sadly) not okay with was the fit. I looked at the measurements on the size chart and ordered a Small since that was about where my measurements and size range fell. Unfortunately, since it is stretchy, it fit fine (like I wasn’t squeezing into it) but it was too tight and clingy on my (big runner’s) booty. I know some people go for that look, but I just don’t. I was super bummed (no pun intended) that I couldn’t use my skirt, but luckily I have a friend who is about a size smaller than me who was in need of a good pencil skirt, too!

Girl

Here’s what she had to say: “What I liked best about this skirt was that the knit material is nice enough to be dressed up, but comfortable enough that you could wear it all day.  It was fitted, without being too tight, and stretchy enough that I could choose to wear it high-waisted or lower on my hips. The waistband is nice and wide, so I chose to add a belt just for looks.”

Girl 2

Bottom line (seriously, I’m not trying to make all these butt jokes!), if you’re getting something in a stretch fabric, think about possibly ordering a size larger than you normally would to account for the stretch factor. But these are great clothes in awesome color choices and fun styles and I totally recommend them. Fresh Produce clothing can be purchased online, at Fresh Produce Retail Stores, and at select boutiques and independent retailers throughout the country. Their prices are slightly higher than most stores, but that’s the price you pay to support things made in the USA! They also have a great Sale section where you can find their clothes up to 50% off! But lucky for YOU, Fresh Produce is offering one lucky winner the chance to pick ONE clothing item for free–good luck choosing just one!

Tumblewalla {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

There are few things that bring me more joy than watching my boys ‘wrestle’ with their dad!  I never hear such squeals of delight as when they are being thrown onto the couch and begging for it again and again.  From the moment Dad walks in the door, all I hear is laughter, squealing, and “wrestle! wrestle! wrestle!”.

Really, does a child have any other more important job than to PLAY!?  And to learn and grow and discover through play?  This is the time of their life to really enjoy the world around them and what their growing bodies can do, without the added pressures of responsibilities, deadlines, or political correctness!

So let them play!  Let them be children, and let them have adorable play clothes that only encourage crazy feats, new ideas, and imagination beyond compare.
Tumblewalla-logo
Tumblewalla (isn’t that the most charming name?) is a company who stands strongly behind their motto to “help families smile, laugh and have a bit more play-time each day”.  They really stand for something much bigger than just their clothing, which is adorable in every way and the epitome of smiles and jovial play.  See what I mean?

Tumblewalla also donates 5% of their sales to select non-profit organizations dedicated to brightening the lives and futures of children who don’t have the resources or opportunities to play as they should.

The collection is so bright and kind of jungle-themed, huh!  Its actually refreshing to not see a lot of pink or purple, logos, or icons.  What a festival of colors!  Besides these adorable baby clothes, I really like that Tumblewalla carries clothing for bigger kids.  Their collared shirts and dresses are perfect for play dates and adventures.

“Rocket” is one lucky kid, sporting a Kurta Top and Play Bottoms.  They are soft as can be, since everything is made from 100% premium cotton.  We ordered size 3 (top) and size 4 (bottoms), and they are a little big, but appropriately sized for my chunky almost-3-year-old, and these will be excellent for this coming Fall and winter when we are cooped up inside and things start getting a little boring around here.  This play outfit will surely lighten up the dreariness!

CoziBear Boutique {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I’ve mentioned before that I’m not incredibly crafty with much of anything (sewing, scrapbooking, cake pops, etc.), but I’d like to think that my lack of talent in this area just means that I appreciate others’ skills in these areas that much more!  A friend of mine said that she looks through Pinterest and pins pictures/websites with the intention of recreating them herself — that thought simply never crosses my mind!  Plus, when I find a shop like CoziBear Boutique on Etsy with such reasonable prices and high-quality items, I don’t feel the need to recreate anything at all!

main

CoziBear Boutique gives us the chance to “Wear something Cozi from CoziBear Boutique” and at first, I wondered if I really wanted something cozy during the summer months or if this shop was more seasonal for colder temperatures.  Not the case at all!  I was amazed to find how the shop owner was able to add cozy elements to lots of summer items to make them unique.  Here are some of my favorite pieces:

socks

Women’s Lace Peek-A-Boo Socks — I honestly didn’t even know that a product like this existed until Camille brought them to my attention a few months ago, but I love the little pop of femininity that these peek-a-boo socks can add to otherwise common flats and heels.

mint hi-low

Women’s Solid Hi-Low Skirt — I’m really loving this mint color (along with coral!) this summer, and the Hi-Low Skirt is a great way to have a piece that will transition from summer to fall in a stylish way.

girls

Girls Open Knit Leg Warmers — How adorable are these??  And, really, I think that these leg warmers are so practical on little girls so as to extend the use of cute summer skirts and dresses into fall and even winter.

top

Women’s Lace Shoulder Dolman Top — This was one of my favorite pieces that showcases the “Cozi” side of “CoziBear Boutique” in a summer outfit!  The top is flowy and lightweight, and the lace turns this “shirt” into a fun and stylish top that can be dressed up or down.

leg

Women’s Slouchy Button Down Leg Warmers — These leg warmers immediately caught my eye, and I love the potential and versatility of these cute wardrobe additions!!  Never would I have considered wearing leg warmers with heels, but the lace dresses them up and makes this look work well.  I received these leg warmers for review, and I LOVE them — while it’s still a little too warm to wear them now, I can easily see myself wearing them with heels in the next few weeks and then again during the winter months on the outside of my jeans but inside of boots with that fun burst of lace.

Repeat Possessions {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Repeat possessions.  Think about it.  You probably have a dozen of these.  A certain article of clothing or a pair of shoes that has become your go-to staple and the first thing you grab when you don’t want to think about what to wear today, or you don’t feel like putting in the time to make up a fashion-statement ensemble.  I have tons of these.  Some might call it a limited fashion sense or a stuck-in-a-rut wardrobe, but even Kate Middleton has a pair of tan pumps that she wears everywhere as her staple heels!

Repeat Possessions

Surely a store with the name Repeat Possessions would be the place to go for just such things.  They sell familiar favorites and fashion statement pieces, and everything in between.  Tops, denim, bottoms, activewear, dresses, outerwear, shoes, jewelry, accessories, and even kids clothes!  Here are some things I would wear again and again and again!

LT_XA5860DE-2T Gold_White_Crystal_Watch-2T GEE_WAWA_Carma_smile-2T TP_CJ72030-2T

Repeat Possessions sent me a classic item that I have literally worn three times this week already.  You can never have enough camis, and when I find a good one, it gets worn to threads.  I got to review the Signature Cami, and it is the most comfortable camisole I own.  It is made out of a super stretchy blend of 92% lightweight nylon and 8% spandex and it is just so buttery smooth to the touch!

 RP_Camisole_Colors-3TRP_Camisole_Colors-5T RP_Camisole_Colors-8T

Not all camisoles were created equally, and before you disregard this giveaway because the prize is just a tank top, let me further convince you that you need one of these!  They come in SIXTY different colors (!!!), from brights to pastels to neutrals.

Untitled-1

I went with the “Stone” color in hopes of adding a nice neutral layer underneath shirts that dip a little too low or end too high on the hem, and since it matches perfectly with my skin, there isn’t a sliver of something white or black that stands out and distracts. image

I also really love that these are one size fits all!  They are SO stretchy that they work on all body types without looking baggy or stretched too thin on big and small bodies alike.  They are also great for pre/post pregnancy periods and they look great with an assortment of casual and dressy outfits, and the long length is exactly what I like.  This is a keeper, for sure!

Canyon Beachwear {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Over the past several weeks, we’ve made a number of trips to the beach and to the pool in the afternoon summer heat, and I’ve loved having the chance to sit out in the sun and to play in the water.  The pool has felt especially great this past week or so, as my body is starting to feel so incredibly heavy in this third trimester.  I love my maternity swimsuit for the pool, but I’ve been looking for something to cover up a little more skin while I’m looking for shells, digging holes, or reading a magazine on the beach.  I suppose that I’m a bit self-conscious of my growing body, but I’m really more concerned with the thought of burning my shoulders or thighs!

logo

Canyon Beachwear, which opened its first shop in  Santa Monica in 1979, understands that swimsuits can be a very big deal. Now in our third decade, we have the experience, selection, customer service and prestige to be recognized year after year by prominent fashion publications like Vogue, Sports Illustrated, Women’s Wear Daily, Harper’s Bazaar, Glamour, Allure, InStyle, and Los Angeles Magazine.

We have the largest year-round selection of ladies’ designer swimwear and resort wear, with pieces from over 50 manufacturers. On-trend, we consistently provide unique, fashionable styles from the most current swimwear lines.”

Cover-Ups:  Lace 3/4 Sleeve Shirttail Tunic

I received Jordan Taylor’s Lace 3/4 Sleeve Shirttail Tunic cover-up from Canyon Beachwear just under a week ago, and I’ve already worn it three times!  I love the long sleeves that keep me covered, and the length falls just a little longer than shown in the pictures because of my short height.  The cinching around the high waist gives this piece a classy look that doesn’t seem like I just threw on an oversized shirt; this is fitted and feels great!

My favorite part of this cover-up, though, is the material itself — I was a little nervous that the “lace” would really be a lace material and, thus, would be too see-through, but it’s more of a lace design on lightweight fabric.  I LOVE IT!  I feel covered and protected while still feeling like I belong out in the sand or on my way to the pool.

Head over to Canyon Beachwear to check out their variety of beachwear and accessories — I’m sure that you’ll discover a new favorite piece, just like I did with this cover-up!

PinkBlush Maternity {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Well, hello, summer!  We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend with gorgeous weather, a couple of barbeques, late nights outside eating popsicles and watching the boys play, and even a camping trip with some friends.

While I’m very much looking forward to trips to the beach, playing the swimming pool, and watching baseball games over the next few months, I’m definitely anxious for the hot, humid, summer heat from coastal North Carolina.  We’ve been through two summers here already, and I’m not sure if that prepares me or just scares me for what’s to come.  And, even worse, I’ll be in my third trimester expecting a September baby through the thick of it all.

I kept most of my summer maternity clothes that I wore when I lived in southern California (also in my third trimester expecting a September baby in the dry, 110+ degree Mojave Desert heat — remind me not to do this again!), but most of those clothes were dressy since I worked through my entire first pregnancy.  Literally.  As in, I started maternity leave on Monday and had my baby on Tuesday.

pink_blush_maternity_logo_zpse4f3ebc8

I desperately needed a few new pieces of maternity clothing that would be more versatile for the mom-of-two-young-boys job that I have now, and I was thrilled at the chance to review for PinkBlush Maternity!  You might remember the maxi dress that Camille reviewed a couple of months ago?  Well, I’m also convinced that the stretchy maxi skirt material is perfect not just for maternity wear but for postpartum/nursing and even when I’m not pregnant at all!

maxi

This Burgundy Striped Maternity Maxi Skirt is amazing!  I love the stretchy material that will no doubt fit in a couple of months when I’m bigger but that I could have easily worn a couple of months ago when I first found out I was expecting.  The panel is wide with great support, and it can be adjusted to make the skirt longer or shorter as needed.  Here are a few other pieces of trendy maternity clothes that I’ve had my eye on:

24/7 Frenzy {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Are we all in agreement and utter relief that SPRING IS FINALLY HERE?!  Glory, its been a long winter.  There are way too many exciting things to do outside in Boston to stay cooped up inside for that long.  The first gloriously beautiful day around here was two weeks ago.  73 degrees outside, and we were all under lock-down while the manhunt ensued for the Boston Marathon bombers.  We were all bouncing off the walls at home, dying to bask in the new season that finally decided to show up.logo

Something about spring makes me feel like shopping!  Its much more fun to get new shorts, new sandals, and new sundresses instead of pulling out last year’s boxes and shaking out last year’s trends.  I’m excited to show you a few of the flowery Spring/Summer dresses from 24/7 Frenzy and hopefully instill in you the same Spring-shopping feelings that I’m getting!

14075 15099 17021

24-7 Frenzy is a fun shop of all sorts of clothes, from dresses, tops, skirts and pants, to even hosiery and sleepwear.  I myself picked out a pair of gray sweatpants, since honestly, sweatpants are what I’m wearing 50% of my waking hours, I figure they might has well be cute.  Don’t tell my husband I actually don’t get dressed till well after noon most days.  My favorite features on these pants, and what makes them a cut above others, are the piping that goes down the front seams, the strong waistband, and especially the zippered side pockets.  I feel a little more sporty and a little less grunge when I wear these around the house 🙂

 13588 862013564

Style experts at 24/7 Frenzy handpick what items to carry, and after searching the whole store over, I don’t think I found anything over $49.99.  There is such a variety of clothing in stock, from dressy to casual, with some fun trends and colors.  These are some other favorites I found at 24-7 Frenzy:

Hapari Swimwear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I grew up on a tropical island and we now live about 30 minutes away from the beach, so finding a swimsuit has always been a must for me every year.  You can imagine how easy that has NOT been some years.  I like to have something that’s cute and colorful but also covers me up and keeps me modest while playing at the pool or at the beach.  I also have quite the list of requirements for my swimwear that can make swimsuit shopping even more unbearable than usual.

  hapari

I discovered Hapari Swimwear at the very end of last summer (of course…) when I asked a friend where she had gotten her swimsuit.  The best part is that Hapari Swimwear offers the cutest MODEST swimsuits, so almost anything from this site works for me!

After modesty, my number one requirement is that the swimsuit be tankini-style.  Ever since I discovered these in high school, I’ve only worn tankini styles and have never looked back.

gold

Gold Coast Classic Bandeau Tankini Top

On top of that, I’m not a huge fan of halter tops since I don’t think they’re incredibly flattering on me, so that usually cuts out about half of any store’s inventory — in the case of Hapari Swimwear, though, many of their straps can be worn in three different ways (halter, cross-back, or  straight), which means that my choices are increased!  I love the versatility.

bora

SOS Bora Bora Tankini Top

I’ve also discovered in the past few years that I prefer to wear some sort of board shorts or boy shorts with my tankini top, and these Hapari choices are perfect.  Since my baby-bearing years, I’ve also found that tummy tuk helps me enjoy my swimsuit time just a little more.  While these bottoms that I chose may not be overly appealing or showy to everyone, I’m pretty much looking for practicality at this mommy-chasing-young-boys stage — these bottoms are PERFECT for me!

Hapari Swimwear also offers swimwear for men, junior boys, junior girls, after mastectomy, and in plus sizes.  They also have cover-ups, wraps, and cap-sleeve shores that can be worn under other shirts for modesty.
