Poo-Pourri {Giveaway}–CLOSED

“Let’s get real about what happens in the bathroom.” This is probably my least favorite commercial of all time (you know what I’m talking about, right?). First of all, the way the lady says it is just annoying, and second of all, no thanks, I DON’T want to “get real” about what happens in the bathroom on national TV. Now, on a blog? Well, that’s a whole different ballgame! So come on ladies, let’s “get real”–everybody poops, and everybody’s poop stinks. But we ladies don’t like to admit to that, or at least to advertise it when we leave a restroom. This is why Poo-Pourri was invented!

Poo-Pourri is a product that you spray into the toilet bowl before you go, creating a protective barrier on the surface of the water. This barrier keeps your bad smells from coming into contact with the air, so during and after you do your business, all you’ll smell is roses or jasmine or whichever scent you choose. The sprays are made from essential oils so they are safe for the environment and your septic systems. I love that the company doesn’t take itself seriously; the sprays have names like Loo-Pourri, Heaven Scent, Nature’s Call, Crap Shooter, Potty Mouth and Poo-Tonium (you can see the full list of scents and their clever names here). But I guess when you’re in the business of poop, you have to have a good sense of humor. But there’s nothing funny about the fact that their products are Award-Winning and they have been tested in an independent lab and proven effective!

Now, you may be thinking, “Yeah right, that sounds nice and all, but does it really work?” That’s what I thought when I was first exposed to it earlier this summer when I was in Anything Goes. We used it in the dressing rooms, and boy, were we happy to have it around when there were only two stalls for about  20 girls! I wanted to try some more for myself to be sure it really worked, so I was sent four different scents of Poo-Pourri and they all work exceptionally well. Poo-Pourri (the original) is a blend of Lemongrass, Bergamot and Grapefruit and is a light, fresh scent. Royal Flush is a mix of Eucalyptus and Spearmint and has a deep, regal scent. Sh*ttin’ Pretty is my favorite scent with Rose, Jasmine and Citrus; I like that I can tell my husband my poo really DOES smell like roses! 🙂 And Party Pooper is the strongest smell with Mandarin, Tangerine and Lily; I found I only needed 3-4 sprays to make an impact as opposed to 4-6 sprays for the other scents. That’s good though, because if you’re having a party, you don’t want to be the person who walks out of the bathroom and stinks up the rest of the room, right?

So the verdict is it TOTALLY works. I love it! I would recommend it to anyone and everyone who likes to keep their business their business. The hardest part is just remembering to use it before you go, though we did find that if you spray it in the bowl after you go, it does pretty well at covering up most of the odors. The sprays come in 2 oz. and 4 oz. and some in 8 oz. bottles, so you can leave the large bottle at home and put the 2 oz. bottle in your purse for when nature calls on-the-go.  Poo-Pourri also sells Pooch-Pourri, a spray to keep your dog’s coat smelling fresh; Shoe-Pourri Shoe Deodorizer; and Poo-Pourri Jr. Lil’ Stinker, a spray for diapers and/or diaper pails to eliminate those putrid odors. Poo-Pourri can be purchased online or at select stores near you; just use their Store Locator to find a shop in your area! Prices range from $9.95 for the 2 oz. bottle to $24.95 for the 8 oz., but believe me, it’s worth every penny!  And you get up to 100 uses out of just a 2 oz. bottle, so your $10 is stretched really far. If you want some deals, sign up for their email list or connect with them on Facebook, Twitter  or Pinterest and you will be in-the-know on all the latest Poo-happenings. Enter our giveaway and one lucky winner will get the same set I was sent;  2 oz. bottles of Party Pooper, Sh*ttin’ Pretty, Royal Flush and Poo-Pourri!

Just after my oldest son turned two years old, we went with my husband to Pensacola, Florida, for his six-month Air Traffic Controller training.  We were living in a one-bedroom billeting room on the base, and I figured that it would be a good time to try potty training my son since we weren’t doing much anyway.  We spent a couple of days figuring it all out, and then he was basically good to go — for about two months, we were a completely diaper-free family!  He wore underwear at night and during naps, and we could go out to the park or to go shopping without worrying.

Well, sort of.

We were good to go as long as I remembered to take him to the bathroom every hour or so.  He wouldn’t (couldn’t?) tell me that he needed to go to the bathroom, and he certainly wasn’t able to do it all on his own.  I had to help him take off his shorts/pants and underwear, put him up on the toilet, encourage him, praise him when done, put everything back on him again, then wash his hands.

He was back in diapers shortly after I had our second son and was finally really potty-trained about a year later.

Now that Little Boy #2 just turned two years old, we’ve considered trying some potty training again in hopes of not having to have two in diapers when Little Boy #3 comes in just a couple of months.  While I’m not overly worried about making it happen, I am convinced that we’re going to go straight from diapers to underwear without the pit-stop with the Pull-Ups option.
