Teething babies will stick just about anything into their mouths. Including our necklaces. One of my very favorite necklaces has glass beads on a cotton cord. It’s so cute and goes with just about everything I have! I was horrified when Baby Cakes, who had just eaten something chocolaty, shoved it in his mouth when I picked him up. The cord turned a horrible brown color. I took it off right away and washed it. It cleaned up just fine. However, I felt as if I could never wear another cute necklace so long as Baby Cakes was teething, or at least I could never hold him. Of course, neither would do. Around that time I came across Chewbeads. Chewbeads is a family owned company who has combined fashion and safe teething into one cute piece of jewelry.

chewbeads-logoAll of their necklaces and bracelets are made of 100% silicone, so it’s 100% safe for babies to chew on. Which means you don’t have to worry about your baby swallowing harmful chemicals. When coming up with the idea for Chewbeads the makers set out to “create soft, non-toxic jewelry that was colorful, chic, and above all else safe.” I definitely believe their product does just that. They have several different styles and different colors within each style. I got the Jane Necklace in Turquoise. It’s so vibrant and lovely! It was easy to find bracelets to compliment it.

IMG_4660One of my absolute favorite features of this teething jewelry is that it’s dishwasher safe! So if you’re tot happens to be eating something and then gives your fantastic necklace a chew, just throw it in your next load of dishes and you’re set! So simple. There is no forcing a baby to chew on these. As soon as I put them on and picked Baby Cakes up they went right in his mouth.

Have you ever put your baby down just to realize a little too late that they’re holding onto your necklace and it breaks? Well, Chewbeads thought of that too! There’s a breakaway clasp just in case your little one hangs on. The clasp will pop apart and then you can easily snap it back together. Now your little one can take the necklace without your neck going along for the ride.

chewbeads2If we’re out at the store and he needs something to chew on but my arms are just getting tired I’ll let him wear them. Or sometimes he’ll wear them even just walking around the house. He’ll keep a bead or two in his mouth at a time. He’s pretty proud of himself when he gets them in on his own.

chewbeads1I absolutely love this necklace! Each of the necklaces are totally cute and I feel completely fashionable while wearing mine. No one knows I’m wearing jewelry that’s 100% safe for my tot to chew on.  So that’s why I’m working with Chewbeads to do a giveaway!

Dental Hygiene. Cue daunting music. Oh how I love that amazing feeling after I’ve brushed and brushed and flossed and swished. It’s fantastic! Try telling that to a teething tot. As Baby Cakes’ mom I feel solely responsible for those cuties; I have to make sure those teeth stay that perfect pearly white. I need to brush them! However, when his gums are swollen he’ll chew on anything he can get his hands on (including his hands), but if I try to get his tiny baby tooth brush in his mouth it is a struggle. He would probably carry it around and chew on it, but that is just too scary for me. Thank goodness for Baby Banana Brush; they have found a way to solve these problems!

Baby Banana Brush  “designs, manufactures and distributes fun, innovative and, most importantly, safe infant and toddler care products.” They’ve created 100% medical grade silicone products that combine teething and brushing into a totally cute and helpful product! They have 4 teether/ tooth brushes on their market right now. Two of them look like a peeled banana, one is a purple octopus, and the last one is this adorable blue shark called the “Banana Baby Sharky Brush.”

IMG_4371

As soon as I opened it Baby Cakes stuck it right in his mouth and started chomping away! The ‘teeth’ of the shark are actually little bristles that are made of the same silicone as the rest of the body. They’re super soft and help scrub his little teeth while relieving some teething pains all at once. You can also use the brushes to help teach your tot how to brush their teeth as well!

There are a bunch of cool features about this little “Sharky.” Your toddler can chew on every single part of it. The tail has four finger holes for your tot to hold onto, or if they’re in the mood the fins make a good set of handles too. I think my favorite thing about it is that Baby Cakes can’t gag himself on it. He can get the teether back far enough to reach the area where his molars are bugging him, but not so far that he’ll choke. Not only can Baby Cakes tote this around without me worrying about him falling and hurting himself it’s made the greatest teether to take in the car! I can hook a binki tether to it if I need to, but he’s pretty content on holding onto it for our car rides.

So what do you think? Do you think your teething tot would love this as much as Baby Cakes?

The winner of this giveaway will receive one Banana Baby Sharky Brush for their own teething tot!

I remember trying (almost literally) every single bottle system on the planet when my first son was born.  He was in the NICU for about a week after he was born, and nursing wasn’t working so well for us — but, frankly, bottle-feeding wasn’t working either!  He had a difficult time eating without getting lots of air bubbles in him, and we later discovered that he had acid reflux (which was quickly solved after his pediatrician gave us a prescription — oh, happy day!).  As we went through each of these bottle systems, though, we discovered two that we liked the best and stuck strictly to those two.  I stuck to those two bottle systems again when my second son was born, and they worked like a charm.

main

This third time around, though, I’ve been surprised to find that those bottle systems have changed and have all sorts of new fancy terms and styles!  Where are the original ones that I know and love??  As I started doing my research to explore my options, one new-to-me bottle system that kept popping up in my research was from the Tommee Tippee brand.  I don’t even remember hearing about this brand with either of my other two babies, so I was excited to receive Tommee Tippee brand items to try out at home this time around.

Closer to Nature Added Comfort Feeding Bottles — Colic in infants may be caused by a combination of influences including ingesting air during feeding. The new Added Comfort range from closer to nature is specially designed to help reduce air bubbles in the milk and to encourage a good latch-on to help reduce the risk of baby ingesting air during feeding. The air vents down through the tube and into the air-space at the base of the bottle, completely bypassing the milk.

This bottle combines my favorite features from my past two favorite bottle systems and puts them right into one bottle!  I love the air vents on this bottle (that seem to make a huge difference when it comes to gassy babies!), and I love that the nipple is shaped and designed to make the transition from breast to bottle and back again easier.

bib

Closer to Nature Milk Feeding Bibs — Closer to Nature Milk Feeding Bibs have a unique dribble catcher that absorbs moisture, helping prevent rashes on baby’s sensitive skin. Our Milk Feeding Bibs are super-soft on tender young skin, yet working really hard to soak up dribbles and spills before they can cause a rash. Perfect for those first milk feeds, they’re also ideal for the teething stage.

I cannot tell you how much I love these feeding bibs!!  The extra material and cushion around the neck is absolutely genius!!  Both of my boys were chunky babies with rolls and rolls on their necks and legs, and I can’t even begin to tell you what colors I’ve discovered in the neck rolls of my boys during their baby baths — that milk would get past carefully placed burp cloths or bibs and would just sit all day long!  On top of that, these bibs are so incredibly soft and are made of lightweight material.  I can’t wait to use these with Baby Boy #3 in the next couple of months!

Who really cares about viewing the beauty of the backyard, anyway? It’s all about the feel of the cold glass on the festering gums.
