Prom Dresses from Promgirl {Review}

I LOVE Prom!!  Prom season is the best time of the year in my book!  Yes, I’m 26 and no, I’m not going myself (this year), but since I do seamstress work from my home, I usually get a few orders every year to design and sew up some dreamy dresses for cute high school girls.  I get so stinkin excited about making such beautiful things!!  This isn’t just a dance!  This is PROM 2013!  You don’t have the excuse to get your dream dress every day!

There are few things I consider myself more qualified to review :).  In helping these girls design their dream dress, I often search the prom dress sites myself, and one that I have scoured for ideas and inspiration is PromGirl.net, for their exquisite fabrics, design, colors, etc.  What I really love is their diversity in the styles and designs they carry.  They don’t list the same dozen cookie cutter dress in 5 colors.  If you browse their thousand dresses, you see a thousand different personalities.  Romantic, gothic, sweet, simple, glamorous, movie star, girl-next-door, princess, wild woman, Hollywood, etc.
I squealed in delight when I found I would get the chance to review one of their dresses.  Promgirl sent me the Clarisse short dress, Style C9031, and this one is breathtaking!  This dress is $239, but on sale for $99 now at Promgirl.

Oh, where do I begin?!  Everything about this dress is so expertly done, and I have only sweet praises to sing about its construction.  The sweatheart neckline is so romantic, and lays perfectly flat against the bustline.  I only have it pinned up here because my mannequin is a bit smaller than an 8, but I don’t worry about this being a dress that slips down.  The glittery sequins are very secure and make the bust sparkle like a dream.  They are adhered in a sort of laminate, and not individually sewn, so you won’t have to worry about catching a thread and losing a dozen sequins in a row.  Satin-like lining and great structure.

The gathers on the fitted waist make it supportive, as well as bulge-concealing, making this a great dress to inconspicuously wear shapewear underneath.  The pleats are so tiny that it doesn’t add width to your waist, and the silhouette it creates is stunning.  Attention to detail is evident throughout, and this cute bow on the back that hides the zipper is another shining example, down to the clear snaps that hold it perfectly in place.  But even if a butt-bow isn’t your cup of tea, it is easily removable, and you won’t be seeing the zipper anyways because its an invisible zipper.  It takes a little bit of fudging to glide up, but it is expertly sewn in.  Not a single flaw.IMG_4256 copy
People, I cannot express to you the difficulty in creating these curled ends on sheer, let alone I think EIGHT layers of it.  There is a reason this dress is worth $239.  Right here.  These are soft curls, and they hold their shape well if you want to fluff the skirt up a little more and loop them around your fingers a certain way.

(With a few alterations), I’m planning on gifting this to a cute young woman in need of a dress this year, and I can’t wait to see her face when I tell her!  Thank you Prom Girl for making someone’s dream come true and for letting me review such a beauty.
This is only one of hundreds of gorgeous dresses from Promgirl!  Browsing through them all feels like a thousand episodes of Dancing with the Stars, and it makes me want to hit the fabric store.

Not going to Prom?  Don’t worry bout it.  Promgirl has more than just Prom dresses.  We’re talking cocktail dresses, formals, Quinceanera gowns, Graduation dresses, holiday dresses, Sweet 16, party dresses, Military Ball gowns, and evening gowns.  Think about getting a killer dress to wear to the next wedding to attend, or the next cruise you go on!  Hubby and are planning a cruise for our 5-year anniversary, and of course, Formal Night crosses my mind all the time!
