February Starbox by Starlooks {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

This is my FIFTH Starbox, and each time I open another box, I am impressed, pleased, and so satisfied with what comes in the mail.  I can’t WAIT for it to arrive!  If you’re new, let me explain what it is.

Starbox is a monthly subscription box full of full-size professional makeup, and for only $15/month.  But unlike many other subscription boxes that I have tried, Starbox brings you FULL-SIZE items that last more than one or two applications.  This is also not an assortment of obscure and upcoming/unknown brands–they send products from the Starlooks makeup line, which is seriously PRO quality makeup, comparable to Sephora, M.A.C, Chanel, and Dior.

logo_animLet me woo you a little with their past boxes so you can get a taste of what you could be getting:

allfour

Here is last April, November, December, and January.  (The highlight was December’s box: a $99 value eyeshadow palette!)  If you subscribed for one year, imagine the complete transformation and wide array of high-end makeup you’d have in your collection!  And all from the same brand for a uniform, professional look in your makeup box.IMG_9927

This month was no exception to the high-quality things that come Starbox delivers every month.  Within the box was a cream shadow in Phaser ($12), Lipstick in Drew ($12), and pigment in Tungsten ($17).  Starbox will often throw in an extra freebie, like a pencil sharpener or a nail file.  This month was a stretchy headband ($1?) to keep the hair out of your face while you paint away.  That makes this month a $42 value.

IMG_9931Since purply orchid IS the Pantone color of the year, I thought this lilac color (+purple headband) were spot on.  You can use the cream shadow as a base or as a color pop, and I think its a great shade to transition us into spring.  The loose pigment in that dark Tungsten color is intense!  It is dark, easy to apply, adheres well, and lasts throughout the day.  Be careful with this one and don’t slip up!  Its like painting on your face with ashes.

IMG_9936Starbox’s lipsticks are fantastic.  They aren’t drying and they last for hours.  I wore last month’s lipstick + gloss to a family dinner, a wedding, the wedding reception, church, etc.  Its a favorite in my bag.  This Drew shade is sheer metallic shimmer that looks kind of spacey, but the theme of this month was “Futuristic” after all.

IMG_9970I love all the new things I’ve been able to try with Starbox.  I love my growing collection of this high-end makeup line!  Add to your makeup box some of the newest, most affordable, high quality makeup, all while being entirely lead free, emolient free, and cruelty free.

January Starbox by Starlooks {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Starbox time!!  Last month’s Starbox was so incredible that I just couldn’t wait to open January’s box!  The theme this month was “Surprise Yourself”, so based on other reviewer’s comments, it looks like none of us were given a tracking notification email–we just had to wait and be surprised as to when it would show up!  Love that.  I also gathered that every Starbox subscriber got something different in their box this month!  What an even better surprise!

logo_animIn case you’ve forgotten what Starbox is all about, or you’re new to Dandy and this is the first you’re hearing of it, I’ll explain.  Starbox is a monthly subscription box where you are sent a select number of items each month, but unlike many other subscription boxes that I have tried, Starbox brings you FULL-SIZE items that last more than one or two applications.  They are also not an assortment of obscure and unknown brands–they send products from the Starlooks makeup line, which is seriously PRO quality makeup, comparable to Makeup Forever, Sephora, M.A.C, Chanel, and Dior.

IMG_9487This month’s box arrived fairly late in the month, so I had a lot of time to anticipate what treats would show up in my mailbox.

IMG_9494As promised, four full-sized items and a bonus zebra nail file!  I love when they throw in extras like that.  November’s pencil sharpener has been super handy.

IMG_9495Aren’t these colors pretty for January?  Shimmery, sleek, not too loud…

IMG_9499I was so pleased with everything in the box this month.  One really fun item was a pair of eyelashes ($13).  Talk about drama!  The glue container it arrived with was a little flimsy and hard to control, but the lashes are high quality and very dramatic, flexible, and long.

jan1This cream pot liner ($13), which I blended over the lid as a cream eye shadow, is shimmery gorgeous!  This is Milky Way – Satin.  I love how all of the Starlooks products I own are long-lasting, easy to apply, and comfortable to wear.

IMG_9642Lastly, the tender gloss lipstick ($13), in Puzzy, and the lip gloss ($12) in Pearl Necklace are so pretty together!  I’m usually not one who loves a lot of lip color, so this combination is perfect for me.  I feel like it could be dressed up or down, while still being noticeable.  Such a sweet color for Jan./Feb.  The hexagonal shape of the lip gloss is fun and easy to grasp and twist.

IMG_9666The total cost of my box was over $50, so for $15, wouldn’t you say I’m getting a steal (every month!)?

Hurry and start your subscription!  Don’t miss out on another box of wonders for only $15!

Every time I use Starlooks makeup, I am reminded how high-quality these products are.  The eyeshadow adheres so effortlessly, blends beautifully, and stays put throughout the day.  The colors are deep and vibrant, complimentary to each other, and look as if they’ll last for months and months.

IMG_9157

I really squealed when I opened my new eyeshadow palette.  I am SO pleased with this selection of colors, since I reeeeally needed some more of these highlighters.  This palette was custom designed by Starlooks to be fashion-forward and special.  I think all these neutrals are essential, and I’ve really been wanting to steer away from cool colors lately, so all these warm and yummy shades are just what I hoped for.  Merry Christmas to me!

FOR THE COLLEGE STUDENT or SPORTS TEAM ENTHUSIAST:

#6 Meesh & Mia

meeshandmia-6_600
This company caters to the ever growing community of female fans who love to show their individual style.  Their clothes are fabulously fashion forward while combining school colors and logos into their collection so that you can look adorable at work, the game, and the after party, without having to change clothes for every event.   Indoor and outdoor, dressy and casual, flirty and sophisticated.  Whatever your game-day style is, you can dress to your liking.  My BYU shirt and dress from M&M, are some of my favorite pieces!  I also recently received a red boat-neck style Patriots shirt, similar to the picture below, and the quality is hard to match!  Super soft and high quality, styled to look great on any body, and a cut above other any team apparel I’ve worn.  With boots and dark jeans, its one of my favorite winter outfits this season!

#2 Born to Love

logoBorn to Love carries some sweet rockin hats and beanies for the little ones.  These hats are showing up everywhere on celebrity babies and in the magazines!  My toddler has been wearing his Born to Love fedora for a solid year now, and it has barely left his head!  He wears it EVERYWEAR, even to bed, and it has certainly held up well–hardly any wear at all.

#3 The Tool Trapper

This is such a great system to throw into a backpack for camping or hiking, or any event where you want to keep lots of little things contained.  I keep forgetting that men don’t have purses or clutches, and more often then not, their wallets don’t have the storage or protection to hold important things.  Plus, these are so lightweight, your man won’t complain about it weighing his backpack down.

November Starbox by Starlooks {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

As a little girl, I remember how much I loved watching my mom get ready for church or for a date with my dad.  She gave me a pink blush kit that was almost gone to play with, and I remember primping in front of the mirror with that terribly frayed blush brush all the time!  Makeup is magical at any age!  Painting yourself up is just so fun.

Knowing what I was getting into, of course, I was pleased as punch to be able to review November’s box!

box2This month’s goodies included the “Monaco” 5 Shade Shadow Palette ($41), “Orion” Infinity Pot Liner ($13), a “Slanted Liner” Brush ($18), and an eye and lip pencil sharpener.

I had the opportunity to review a Starbox a few months ago (and you can read that review HERE), and there were a few things that made this monthly subscription box stand out from the rest.  First of all, they send full-size items, not samples.  You are getting a product that will last you much longer than one or two applications just to test it out.  You’re getting products that will last you weeks/months.  Also, all of the products you are getting are of the Starlooks brand.  This makeup line rocks.  This is a PRO quality makeup line, comparable to Makeup Forever, Sephora, M.A.C, Chanel, and Dior.

IMG_8707

Ok, at first sight, the amount of color in this box looked a little crazy, but I gave it a shot.  The included pictures of how to use all 5 of these colors at once was helpful.  The look is really fun, and though it might be a little loud for church, this is perfect for date night!box3Same with the blue liner.  It is dark enough while also not being too sparkly, so it looks professional and not as juvenile as I thought it would.  I’ll certainly keep using it and love it more each time :).  What I REALLY love is this eyeliner brush!  Its actually my first one to own, and I really love being able to apply my liner with such a fantastic brush.  The slant angle makes it super easy to use and the look is gorgeous.

IMG_8733IMG_8718

Kind of crazy, but I like it!  I love the ease in which this makeup goes on and stays on.  It looks and feels high-quality, and the color combination is so fun.

If you’re into eyeshadow, I have it on good authority that you should RUN over to Starlooks and sign up for the Dec. box!!  You will not regret this one, ladies.  Give the gift of a Starbox Subscription to a friend / loved one for the holidays, and they will receive the December Starbox – an incredible $99 value! – which will contain their 15 Shade Eye Shadow Palette!

Starbox Monthly Subscription by Starlooks {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Last month, Camille received the April Starbox from Starlooks, and I had the opportunity to review the May Starbox from Starlooks this past week.  I was incredibly impressed by the items that came in my box this month, and I especially love that this subscription includes a number of full-size products for only $15 a month!

Starlooks is a beauty company that features both a makeup line and hair care products, and their monthly Starbox sends a surprise box to subscribers with products that focus on a theme.  After the monthly Starboxes have been sent out to subscribers, they become available on their website for $25 a month — the bonus to this is that you can see exactly what you’ll receive, and the $25 price is still generally half as much as you would pay for the products in the box if bought separately!

main

The theme for this month was “Tribal”, which, I admit, scared me just a little — you remember that I’m usually a natural makeup kind of girl, so I wasn’t sure how these products would work for my preferences.  I had no reason to worry, though.  The packaging was perfect for the theme (zebra print box with a deep red paper inside), and the products were easily applicable to my own makeup routine but provided some new ideas and could easily be used for a more dramatic look.

Cream_Blusher_1024x1024

Cream Blusher ($17) — I really love having a pop of color on my cheeks, but I’ve never used a cream version of blush before.  I loved this product!  Although the color was a bit deeper than I would have selected for myself, a light hand left my very pale skin with just the right hint of color.

Brow_Shader_1024x1024

Brow Shader ($21) — I’m probably going to expose my naiveté when it comes to makeup right here in my review of this product, but for the sake of honesty, I’ll tell you the truth: I’ve never even heard of this kind of product before.  I have fairly thick eyebrows and have never considered the need for filling them in or shaping them with brow liners, etc., but after watching a couple of YouTube videos on using brow shader, I’m sold.  The colors are versatile and the brush is small and perfect for precision.

PigmentLuster_1024x1024

Pigment Luster ($17)  — Again, a little nervous about how “tribal” of a look I was going to get from this pigment luster, but I ended up loving this pop of sparkle that updated my daytime natural makeup look just in time for a date to the movies that evening with my husband!  For those looking for a lot of shine, this would do the trick, too.

All in all, this was a great monthly subscription with some new products that I never would have even thought to purchase for myself — another bonus to signing up for a surprise monthly Starbox from Starlooks!  I’ve since added these to my makeup collection and have used them more often as I’ve become more familiar with them.

April Starbox by Starlooks {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I get a little overwhelmed when I try to shop for make-up.  I’m not completely married to one exclusive brand, so as I peruse the aisles and compare one make-up item to another, I have favorites here and favorites there, and it becomes quite difficult to make decisions.  Sometimes I wish I had a personal assistant to hand-select makeup products that are tested and true, in line with what is popular lately, and hey, if she could drop these things off at my door, I’d be ever so obliged.

logo_anim

Well, wouldn’t you know, Starlooks can do exactly that!  Starlooks carries some of the newest, most affordable, high quality makeup, all while being entirely lead free, emolient free, and cruelty free.  This dreamy makeup line has a monthly box subscription option that you’ll love.

JANUARY

jan2013_1024x1024

These three boxes are still available, so even if you missed the subscription window, you can go back and purchase them individually before they sell out.  Now let me show you the goodies from the APRIL box!  I’ve been anticipating this all month!  It showed up on Saturday afternoon and I dived right in.  The beautiful packaging makes such a lovely first impression!

IMG_3605

The first thing I pulled out of the box was the “Translucent/Nude” Mineralized Powder.  The great thing about this is that it can be used on every skin tone and creates a matte velvety finish.  It has a cute high-quality puff included, and just as it claims, created a smooth, silky topcoat to my makeup, without drying it out.  Beautiful results!  Next was a Tendergloss in the most spring-appropriate shade of glossy pink/nude shimmer.  I don’t like going crazy with the lip color since I have baby hands always grabbing at my face and only a dozen ways to get it smeared, but I still like to add something to my lips.  This color and the quality of the lip stick make this my new all-time favorite purse companion.  I LOVE how it looks–just a hint of shimmer and color.

IMG_3613

Next, I received a “Mint” SPF Lip Balm.  Great scent, great consistency, and the SPF is going to be so important in the coming months!  The last item is my favorite!!  Have you ever heard of a mascara primer?  This is a “Sensation Mascara Primer”, meant to sooth the lashes while moisturizing them, helping them grow.  It also creates a clump-free base for a smooth application of mascara.  I was skeptical that such a product would be necessary or effective, but I was oh so wrong!  After applying the primer, my lashes looked and felt instantly thicker, bulked up, and almost layered as the wand separated my lashes just so.  I applied mascara afterwards, and loved the look so much that I didn’t feel a need to go any further with my eye makeup.  My lashes were so strikingly noticeable, and I kept looking in the mirror throughout the day to admire them.

IMG_3616

Go order April’s Starbox before it is sold out!

What makes Starbox different from other makeup companies is that this artist quality makeup comes in full-size quantities and sizes instead of samples or partial amounts.  I’m am SO impressed with the Starlooks makeup line, and having sampled a few products in this monthly subscription box, I’m only more intrigued and drawn to trying more.

Do consider trying out Starlooks and sign up for next month’s Starbox!  For $15, its really a steal of a deal when you consider the retail value of the products you’ll be getting ($40 – $75 in cosmetics)!
