First Bites with Beech-Nut {Review}

Feeding your baby solids for the first time has got to be one of the funnest milestones!  I love picking out just what they’ll try and documenting every bite with pictures and giggles.  I feel like the introduction to solids really makes them babies instead of infants.  We love Beech-Nut products around here, so I was tickled to get to try out a variety of their newest flavors!

IMG_0150Aren’t these jars beautiful!?  Especially when they are packaged like this, you feel like you’re feeding your baby only the best.  These colors together are so vibrant!  And so healthy!  Its great knowing that there are no artificial colors or flavors, so this coloring is for real and the taste isn’t enhanced or sweetened.  That vibrant beet red and carrot orange are nothing but the good stuff.

Here is baby Grant trying out these goodies for the first time!  He’s only had one or two encounters with the new flavors and textures of solids, so it was a very new experience for him!

Beech-Nut actually has over 40 new flavors.  Here we have “just honeycrisp apples, “just carrots”, “beets, pear, and pomegranate” and “just spinach, zucchini, and peas”.  As you can see, they are slightly larger than the typical baby food jar size, and if you yourself have fed an infant for the first time, you know how these jars last for several feedings at first, and then suddenly, your little person is downing one or two of these in a sitting.  More food and less glass means less waste, so I’m glad to see these a little larger than normal, but not enough to go bad before your ‘freshy’ can get to it all in a few days.

One thing I really like about Beech-Nut products is how the Stage is listed on the jar so that you know if what you’re feeding your baby is appropriate for their age and abilities.  There are four stages (1, 2, 2.5, 3, and 4) which range from 4+ months to 12+ months.

feedGrant did pretty well :).  He liked some flavors more than others (the greens were a little weird), but I think it was a good experience overall.  The honeycrisp apples were a favorite.

Beech-Nut contains no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives, which is extremely important for babies who are used to nothing but milk, as well as crucial in eliminating potential allergic reactions in these early stages.  You can find these Beech-Nut products on store shelves soon!
