Wink Shapewear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

After a long internal debate, I built up the courage and congeniality points with my husband to audition for a show a few weeks ago!  Community theater runs deep in my blood, and I just can’t get away from it, no matter how old and rusty I get!  I was cast as “Nellie” in a medley of South Pacific numbers, and as soon as I heard we’d be dancing to “I’m Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair” in swimwear, I knew I’d need some help!  Of the seven of us girls, I was the only one who had born children, and the only one with a bunch of extra post-baby fluff to keep together, so I started brainstorming…

WINK LOGO

I immediately thought of Wink Shapewear, and how I was able to review their awesome Ultimate Belly Blaster (you can read that review HERE).  Low and behold, they also had exactly what I needed for my on stage debut!  Introducing the new Waist & Hip Blaster Boy Shorts!

2

This little number is sold for $110 and it focuses on waist, belly and hip compression.  Yes, yes, and yes.  It features two layers of compression material, which makes it extremely supportive and effective at holding in stretched out skin and leftover baby pooch.  So how do you get inside this sucker?  As you can see, there are several hooks and eyes that line the entire left side, backed by a soft fly so that you aren’t pinching yourself in your attempts to hook yourself up.  The genius feature is the zipper that further encloses the attachment hardware and provides a seamless, smooth surface and added strength.

This is SO comfortable.  I don’t all feel like I’m wearing a girdle or anything restrictive.  I’ve been wearing this every night for the past two weeks of performances and I’ve been dancing and high-kicking just as well as without it on, but only more supported and conscious about my posture.  It has provided exactly the right compression I was hoping for!  Here I am in my wig and romper, rockin’ the Wink boy shorts, and so proud of it!

show

The only trouble I’ve had with it is that on the 2nd time wearing it, the zipper broke, and though I could zip it up, the two sides wouldn’t stay together, as if the teeth couldn’t interlock anymore.  I’m sure it was just a defect on my particular zipper, and not indicative of how any of the other shorts will hold up.  I was able to cut it out and sew in a new zipper in less than 10 minutes, so it really wasn’t a problem, and it still functions just as well with this replacement.

Thanks, Wink, for the added confidence and a silhouette that can compete with the highschoolers!

Having a full figure is a blessing and a curse.  Usually a curse, in my opinion.  I haven’t been able to buy a fitting bra from a regular store (aka Target) since high school.  The waistline on dresses always creeps up to “empire” style, and finding a button-up shirt that fits in the waist but can still button all the way up is a joke.  I’ve taken completely to online shopping when it comes to bras, and whether you’re plus size or not up top, you will find some super flattering and beautiful bras at fullbeauty, in bra sizes 32-58, cup sizes A-N!

The same frustration comes in finding swimsuits that cater to a full figure!!  Its a nightmare trying to find something with enough coverage AND support for a mom who doesn’t want to show a heap of cleavage at the kiddy pool.  Have YOU found your swimsuit of the season?  Let me show off some way cute options from fullbeauty!  All of these are perfection in my book: they come in larger bust sizes, they are modest, and they are right in line with what is stylish and trendy right now.  Big busted women can be stylish too!

What makes these suits so great is that they are made in larger sizes, and not just for high school bodies.  These are for the mom with stretch marks, saggy skin, and post-baby fluff!  Many of these suits feature compression fabric and built-in underwire support, along with tummy control panels in gathered side shirred styles to hide flaws.  Music to my ears.

I’m really embracing the swimdress lately.  Oh where are the thighs of my youth?!  I was super excited to review a swimdress from fullbeauty, and I hit the beach this weekend to show it off!  This is the Nautical Stripes Swimdress, sold for $69.99-$79.99, featuring a fun fold of fabric that starts across the bust and goes over the shoulder.

Things I love about this swimsuit: I LOVE nautical, so we were in instant match based on the colors and stripes.  The gold anchor clip on the shoulder is classic, and the fit is great.  This is not just a dress–it has a suit underneath made in powernet lining for great compression and comfort.  It has a shelf bra and foam cups, and I was surprised with the nice and thick weight of the nylon/spandex which also provides SPF 40+ UV protection.  Note that on my body, the shelf bra was pulling the swimsuit down too much for my taste, so I just snipped it out, and then it layed the way I wanted it to.

I love it!  I think it is the PERFECT mommy swimsuit.  I’m not trying to pick up men.  I’m trying to pick up hooligan children and keep them from drowning.  I don’t have to wear a frumpy swimteam one-piece, though!  This is still so cute in my book, and I feel so confident wearing it.

Ok, not to draw attention to my chest, but do you see how supported and shaped my (ahem) bust is?  I’ll let you in on a secret: The Swim Bra.  Have you heard of it? Fullbeauty sells this wonder for $34.99-$39.99, and when I saw it, I knew it would be worth every penny.

FB_SwimBanner_031613

Are you familiar with the feeling of droopiness and complete lack of support in a swimsuit?  There is nothing like feeling exposed and unsupported when you’re wearing nothing but stretch knit in front of family and friends.  This swim bra is my favorite addition to my swim wardrobe, and will accompany every swimsuit I ever wear.  So why is it so special?  First off, it has thin, quick-drying foam cups that won’t absorb water and make you look ridiculous.  Item #2: it has convertible straps that attach anywhere to work with every swimsuit style, regardless of whether you want to wear it with a halter top, cross-back, or even strapless suit.  Also, there are silicone grippers lining the top to provide a close and secure fit without shifting.  See?

I’ve considered wearing this as a full-time daily bra, especially in the heat of the summer, when I’m sweating like a banshee and moisture under my clothes is so uncomfortable.  My only qualm is that the clear straps are too long, even when adjusted to the shortest length, to wear like tradition over-the-shoulder bra straps, but they’d probably be fine on a taller person, or when worn in a cross-body or halter style.  It is very lightweight and totally comfortable, and SO worth the investment.

Now go pick out your swimsuit of the summer at add a swimbra to your order!  Remember, whether you’re plus size or not, fullbeauty is stocked with beautiful lingerie styles in bra sizes 32-58, cup sizes A-N!

One winner will win The Swim Bra in their choice of size and color!

Stretch marks.  Weight gain.  Hair loss.  Incontinence.  Flabby belly skin.  The effects of pregnancy and childbirth.  My two pregnancies have left me with a gaping riff in my abdominals.  Its called diastasis.  My tummy muscles were stretched past capacity and they’ve torn apart and probably won’t be coming back together til I come up with the money for a Tummy Tuck, aka never.  Even though I am in the best shape of my life, and I’ve lost 25 pounds since college, weighing as much as I did in high school, my separated stomach muscles can’t hold anything in anymore and I look like I have a poochy fast food and milkshake belly.  So frustrating, right?  Do you have the same problem, dear moms out there?

 WINK LOGO

I think a lot of people are attracted to shapewear to hold in and smooth over extra body fat, but I also think shapewear is appealing to many of us mothers who lack the tight muscles that used to hold us together!  Wink Shapewear carries an exquisite line of top-quality shapewear.

“Wink is the only medical-grade system of postnatal recovery garments that help new moms get back into their fabulous shape after baby.”

And they have such a variety of options!  I think many of us have different troubles spots and different preferences about what we are comfortable wearing.  Personally, I’m not concerned about my thighs, so I don’t want full-body shapewear that is going to squeeze my legs.  I want to be able to wear my own bra, and I want something that will extend further than my waist so I don’t get the muffin top look.  I also prefer the hooks and eyes to elastic that can catch on other delicate fabric and avoid any totally embarrassing ripping noises!  Most importantly, I want shapewear that will stay up where I want it so I don’t have to worry about it sliding down throughout the day and having to do some strange pulling and tugging in public.  These preferences led me to the Ultimate Belly Blaster, and it is everything I hoped it would be!

It has silky smooth lines, and great compression.  The hooks and eyes on the side panel allow for four different levels of adjustment as you prefer a tighter or looser fit, and well as adjustable lengths with the shoulder straps.  There are two layers of high compression level material called Lycrosoft, so you feel very ‘contained’.  Its incredible how strong and supportive the material is, yet so thin and soft, and I love that the higher back allows for no back fat rolls.  This shapewear is specifically created for first 8 weeks of postpartum recovery and post abdominal surgeries recovery, but I find this little number to be exactly what my post-baby body needs, and its been over 10 months since I delivered.  Look at the difference:

before after

See how I totally look pregnant without it?!?!  I even still have an outie belly button leftover from pregnancies.  I just don’t have any muscles to hold it in anymore!  And what a difference with my Wink shapewear.  It makes me look so much better and it makes me FEEL amazing.  They say you can’t buy confidence, but after trying out this Ultimate Belly Blaster, I beg to differ.
