TidyTots Potty Chair Liners {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Potty training my child is officially my absolute least favorite part of parenting!  I keep thinking there has got to be a service where I pay someone to potty train my child for me.  Some sort of camp I send him to for a week.  Any amount of money is sounding reasonable at this point.  While I can get “Rocket” to sit on the potty, we’re still struggling with grasping the entire concept.  I still think it will be a few weeks, but we’re definitely all potty-minded around here.

logoI think there are still some parts about potty training that my little guy is worried about.  I am most worried about poop containment!  I’ve been gearing myself up for the idea of even more contact with the nasty stuff as I’m dumping, cleaning, and sanitizing this little potty chair.  Yuck!  There is a product available that is designed to squelch these fears of mothers abroad, completely taking out the ‘yuck’ factor.

fp_image_3TidyTots has created potty chair liners that surround any style or brand of potty chair with a bag that is removable and disposable.  I’ll never have to touch that potty!  No scrubbing, rinsing, or sanitizing necessary.

Perhaps all this time, I have been the squeamish one about this whole potty training experience, and now that TidyTots has calmed my fears, this whole process might go a little smoother!

Ok, for the most part, I really like this product.  The online picture says “fits all potty chairs”, but the actual packaging says “fits most potty chairs”, and ours must be one of these exceptions.  It must be the extra splash guard in front in addition to the wide bowl that makes our chair too wide for these bags.  If I really stretch and fight with the bag, I can get the whole pot covered, but by that point, there is hardly any bag left to catch anything, as the bag has been stretched tight.  There is no way I want to be fighting with this bag to get it off the seat when there is poop that could easily splash up into my face.  I think I’d be more likely to snip the bag off at that point, which makes the drawstring ties useless to me, unfortunately.

But don’t let me talk you out of these.  I think with a regular potty chair (without the bulky splash guard in front), these bags would be a great fit, no struggle involved, and easy to remove.  I think ours will be most helpful when we’re traveling or need to contain small messes.  These could be great at holding stinky diapers!

The potty is out and ready, lined and clean, and we’re really ready to tackle this!  You can find these on Amazon, diapers.com, and drugstore.com.

Epica Ultra Plus Waterproof Sheet Protector {Review}

There are few things that scare me more than potty training.  I have been dreading it since the day I found out I was having a boy.  We have the potty, the stickers, and the children’s DVDs, but the boy still wants nothing to do with any of it, so I’m not gonna push it till I get some cues from him.  I just really want to be prepared!  Not that I won’t be used to changing his sheets almost every other night, because I’m getting a lot of practice at that.  It seems like no matter what size of night diaper we put on the toddler, or how early in the evening we start restricting the liquids, there is still a soaked boy and soaked sheets in the morning.  I’ve decided that some sheet protectors are just going to be a necessity around here for a few years, whether he’s in diapers or not.  Thank you, thank you, Epica, for letting us review the Epica Ultra Plus Waterproof Sheet Protector!  This will be oh so handy in for us in the next couple months/years!

This guy is 34″ x 52″, so it completely covers a toddler bed or a baby crib mattress.  But really, this isn’t just for toddlers.  It covers a large space on any double, queen, or king, making it great for adults too.  When I was pregnant, I was so worried about my water breaking!  This would have replaced all those towels I had laying out.  You could even lay it width-wise on a larger bed to cover just the space you want.

This pad is very thick and very durable.  My favorite part is that it isn’t crinkly and crunchy when you lay on it.  I really like the quilted top–it is rather soft and my boy likes sleeping on it for the added layer of comfort.  As you can see, the back is non-slip and completely water-resistant.  I don’t think any moisture could get past it, no matter how much liquid accumulated.  The pad stays right where you put it, without shifting or slipping, and it is much heavier than mattress pads we’ve used in the past.

“Rocket” has had this on his bed for several nights now, and it has done the trick!  Completely machine washable, and I hear it gets even softer with more washings!  Sleeping in our attic bedrooms in this beastly hot weather is about to get really uncomfortable, so this moisture-absorbing material might be just the ticket when we’re all sweaty.  I might buy a few more of these for the rest of the family!

You can purchase this Epica Ultra Plus Waterproof Sheet Protector on AMAZON for $13.95.

Super Undies {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Just after my oldest son turned two years old, we went with my husband to Pensacola, Florida, for his six-month Air Traffic Controller training.  We were living in a one-bedroom billeting room on the base, and I figured that it would be a good time to try potty training my son since we weren’t doing much anyway.  We spent a couple of days figuring it all out, and then he was basically good to go — for about two months, we were a completely diaper-free family!  He wore underwear at night and during naps, and we could go out to the park or to go shopping without worrying.

Well, sort of.

We were good to go as long as I remembered to take him to the bathroom every hour or so.  He wouldn’t (couldn’t?) tell me that he needed to go to the bathroom, and he certainly wasn’t able to do it all on his own.  I had to help him take off his shorts/pants and underwear, put him up on the toilet, encourage him, praise him when done, put everything back on him again, then wash his hands.

He was back in diapers shortly after I had our second son and was finally really potty-trained about a year later.

Now that Little Boy #2 just turned two years old, we’ve considered trying some potty training again in hopes of not having to have two in diapers when Little Boy #3 comes in just a couple of months.  While I’m not overly worried about making it happen, I am convinced that we’re going to go straight from diapers to underwear without the pit-stop with the Pull-Ups option.

Super Undies provides some great training pants and accessories, along with training tips and videos to help make that transition from diapers to underwear easier for kids and for parents!  The How to Potty Train section gives great ideas to parents while the Kids Game Room has puzzles, coloring, matching, and videos for kids to enjoy.  Here are some of my favorite SuperUndies products:
