GrooveBook {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I’m a picture taking fiend.  Okay I used to be.  Well, I still am…  Just in a different stage of life with my picture taking.  See back in the day I actually took photography classes.  I’m talking college level photography classes.  I used (still own ’em) fancy cameras.  As in plural.  More than one fancy camera.  There are even some fancy lens to go with those fancy cameras around here somewhere.  The Audi and I traveled to these exotic places.  To Belize.  To Europe.   And I took pictures.  I liked to photograph architecture.  Or beautiful scenes.  Not people.  I detested people pictures.  Well, then we had children.  Our exotic vacations became trips to a certain magical theme park.  Nothing wrong with that.  We are loving this time in our lives.  Our vacations are now magical, because our children are having a magical time.  Do I have time to whip out my fancy camera on our magical vacations?  No.  The kids are way too fast for that.  Who has time to mess with the camera of my dreams when the kids will bolt?  I have to snap pictures In. The Moment.  What do I always have on hand?  This:

phone

Pay no attention to the fact that I have a few text messages that haven’t been viewed yet.  Also, pay no attention to the fact that I have over 60,000 emails…

So now I take pictures with my cell phone.

Hey, it’s still fancy, does a good job, and I preserve the memories!  🙂

Before GrooveBook my photos would just hang out on my phone.  Until I had no memory left.

Now I get them put in a book once a month:

You guys!  I have another fun Blog Hop for you today!  ONE HUNDRED AND ELEVEN of us have joined up to bring you some fabulous giveaways, and all of them are book-related!  Its our way of officially saying goodbye to summer and hello to staying indoors and cozy-ing up to the comfort of books and novels, virtual or in print :)  Be sure to hop around to all the blogs at the bottom of this post, and check in with our hosts, BTS Book Reviews, Decadent Publishing, and Everpress Media for the grand prize of a Kindle or Nook!  (They are the first three blogs to follow in the list below) hop-summer-september-1

Our featured giveaway here at Dandy Giveaway is sponsored by Poyomi.  Now to introduce them, let me tell you about how I have an entire bookcase of 3-inch binders chock full of pictures of me for every year of my life.  Its true.  My mother has labored for hours over pictures, cardstock, and cut-out printed captions to preserve all of our memories since the day I was born!  I LOVE looking through these scrapbooks that have preserved all the pictures and stories of the people and things that I love!
Poyomi-logo-300x300
Try as I might, I am not my mother.  I can’t do it!  I could keep up with it for awhile, but I think the 2-kid lifestyle pushed me over the edge and I just have TOO many great pictures I want to preserve that we really don’t have the space to keep adding a 3-inch binder to the collection every year.

I have actually been anti-photobook for awhile, convinced that they are a little too impersonal and uniform, but I’ve really changed my thinking after creating my own book with Poyomi.  Putting it together online was really just an exciting, creative, and fulfilling activity for me!  I was able to paste in all of the important pictures I could find from other that last 15 months, which came out to be 90 pages, and the entire book is less than 1/4″ thick.  Your book could be 20 pages or less or even up to 384 pages!
IMG_6874
The creative process was so easy and slick.  I basically uploaded the pictures I wanted, selected which ones to combine onto a page, and rearranged if I wanted certain pictures to be larger than others.  There were multiple times that I saved my project and came back later to finish up.
poyomi
I felt just as crafty as if I was cutting and pasting actual pictures because I’m still copying, pasting, arranging, and really personalizing my own scrapbook, but it is just SO CLEAN that I don’t want to ever go back!  The pictures look printed in high-resolution on thick paper with the detail and brightness preserved.
IMG_6878
Poyomi can create your photo books into different dimensions besides the standard “Letter” size.  They can also print into “Digest”, “Digest Landscape”,  “Square” and “Calendar”, as well as perfectly bound, or saddle stitched.
IMG_6886What I reeeally love about this set-up is being able to paste in pictures of odd and unusual dimensions, like collages I have photoshopped together for blog posts.  If I were to print this in regular 4 x 6 format, things would get chopped off, squished, or come back completely unusable.  Poyomi lets me keep the dimensions I’ve got, and just arranges according to what layout makes the most sense.  Zero frustration.

They also have an ipad app and an iphone app, and both are free.  Here’s a snazzy video to give you an idea of how that works:
Doesn’t this inspire you to want to create your own book of memories?!

One lucky winner will receive $50 to spend at Poyomi to create their own photo book!

The wedding is in two weeks!!  I’m so excited for my little brother!  Though I haven’t met my future sister-in-law yet, I’m sure that we’ll soon be the best of friends :).  I’ve been trying to come up with the perfect wedding gift for them–something personal, something that looks expensive, and something that is clearly not re-gifted!  All the lightbulbs went on when I saw all the breathtaking displays of photography and artwork created by Artsy Couture!

I’m sure that along with me, you have fallen in love with the wrapped canvas look for displaying pictures in your home.  I have never been a fan of chunky mis-matched (and breakable) frames with the glass in front.  They just seem too bulky and heavy, and I can never find enough of a frame I like to make everything in the house match.  For years now, I’ve tried to do away with frames and mod-podge photographs onto foamboard to try and get the wrapped canvas look, but I’m afraid its still a little too homemade.  Sometimes homemade doesn’t cut it, and the only way to go is the real thing, and these wrapped canvases and gallery blocks from Artsy Couture are to die for!

I ordered a trio of gallery blocks using my brother’s engagement pictures, and they are the PERFECT wedding gift!  I can’t wait to see them on the walls of their future home.

You almost have to see these in person to really appreciate the quality of these gallery blocks.  They have a high quality wood structure behind and practically seamless joined corners. IMG_2746 copy

If you are a professional photographer, or have a budding photography business, you need to get hooked up with Artsy Couture.  The products you could offer your clients would be breathtaking, and the ordering process is so simple.  Ordering my photo gallery blocks was a breeze–pretty much upload, select, paste, resize, and I was done.  I looked into the process of creating a photo cube, and the layout was not as difficult as you might make it out to be.  The ordering process can be a little intimidating without Photoshop experience, but there are great directions and guidance along the way.

One stunning way to display your pictures is in this floating gallery block style–a series of smaller gallery blocks floating over a larger gallery block background.  So professional, right?

Besides these gallery blocks, I also love these photo cubes!  What a fun way to display pictures!  I think these would look adorable in a nursery, and still classy enough to have stacked in a living room entertainment center.

Artsy Couture carries so many more fashionable options for displaying your art, including pro prints, sweet colorful frames, gallery stands, and don’t forget these picture perfect photo books!

One winner will receive $75 to spend on any items at Artsy Couture!!

MailPix Brag Book {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I’m a bragger.  I’m totally a big bragger.  I love posting pictures of my cute kids, talking about our fabulous weekend date, my husband’s raise, and being overly obnoxious when I win board games!   I know its sometimes the quickest way to lose friends, but isn’t it fun to brag?!

I think the older we get, the more fun it is to show off our kids because they’re just so darn adorable for being nothing but themselves, and we like to think they got it all from us :).
MailPix.com - Photo Prints

I think these “Brag Books” by Mailpix are such a fun way to carry around your treasures and show them off to anyone and everyone!  I can’t always tote around my heavy binders of scrapbooks, or bring up my blog at the next high school reunion, but I could whip out my new brag book that I made on Mailpix!  These brag books can be made in 4×6 or 5×7 size, and filled with 5 to 40 pictures.  They are professionally spiral bound, and a clear cover in the front protects the pictures inside from scratches and from fading.

sub-header-brag-books

To be honest, I had a distraction device for my rambunctious toddler in mind when I put this together.  I wanted to fill it with people he recognized and memories of his (like his birthday, playing with grandma, last Christmas) to grab his attention while we are trying to teach him the importance of sitting still in church for an hour at a time.  The process of ordering was actually pretty fun, and fairly easy to figure out.  MailPix has several templates of themes to choose from, which change the layout of the pictures and can arrange multiple pictures on one page.

IMG_2149

The book turned out great!  My favorite feature is the clear protective first page to keep everything from getting smudgy.  “Rocket” sat admiring pictures of himself, his parents, his cousins, and his brother for an amount of time that I didn’t expect.  Eureeka!  A distraction device for my church diaper bag!  God bless you, Mailpix.  As you can imagine, Mailpix specializes in much more than just cute brag books.  They can tackle anything from photo calendars and mugs to large photo books, prints, enlargements, greeting cards, etc.  They’re pretty much a one-stop for anything involving your pictures.  Personally, I love that they grant you unlimited photo storage when you sign up on their site.  In this day and age, when everyone is running out of storage on their blogs and looking for alternate places to store their pictures, I’m relieved that my pictures can be safe with Mailpix.

IMG_2154

Is your head surging with ideas of the next brag book you want to put together?  A book of your grandkids school pictures to keep in your purse?  A book of your last vacation to keep out on your coffee table?  A flip book of your artwork to carry around as a portable mini portfolio?  These are so useful in so many ways!

For the giveaway prize today, one winner will be able to create their own 40-page 4×6 brag book, and only pay the $4.99 shipping!

“The photos you take tell the stories of your life” –Heritage Makers

How true!  My mom always says that if you didn’t take a picture, it didn’t happen.  And I completely agree!  Events where I never took any pictures have practically been erased from my memory.  That’s kind of a scary realization, so I’ve always been a picture-taking-fool around anything momentous, or anything I want to remember in the future!

“Heritage Makers can help you preserve and showcase those photos in beautiful, published keepsakes that are uniquely yours and easy to share.”

I couldn’t have said it better!  Heritage Makers lets you use the pictures on your computer to create beautiful projects that you’ll love sharing and showing off (and perhaps giving as gifts!)  There are so many lovely things to make, including professionally bound books,

personalized greeting cards, and lovely wrapped canvas prints.

Some exciting new products at Heritage Makers include Ornaments, Metal Prints, iPhone cases and Leather Bucket Bags!
