Delta Children’s Products {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

We don’t buy our kids a lot of toys. We don’t need to, because we have enough Grandmas and Aunties who do that for them! My daughter’s birthday was in October and my son’s was in December, so by the time Christmas had come and gone it felt like the quantity of things in my kids’ rooms had expanded by 1,000! Something had to be done. We had to contain the mess!

Delta Children’s Products has been creating children’s furniture, baby gear, decor, and storage solutions since 1967. They strive to produce children’s furniture for families who seek stylish design, quality, safety and affordability. A tall order to fill, but they manage to do it well. They offer hundreds of products, from cribs to toddler beds, changing tables to dressers, strollers, play yards and organizational products. Of course, we were the most interested in the organizational section and settled on a toy chest we knew our daughter would go crazy for!

box

We received the Princess Wooden Toy Box to review. It came packaged in a thin box that was easy to carry in the house and unpack. All of the parts were easy to find and the directions were clear and easy to read (not that my husband needed them, of course…).

pieces

Assembly was fairly easy, though my hubby did have to make an emergency trip to Home Depot for more screws because he says the ones the toy box came with were “not the best quality” and they stripped easily, making them unusable. This was after he’d put the first side on the wrong side then had to remove it and put it on the other side, thus having to screw and unscrew the (not-the-greatest-quality) screws more than intended. Moral of the story? Read the instructions carefully so you don’t have to re-do anything and potentially strip your screws 😉

building

But, minus the Home Depot run, it only took about an hour to assemble the toy box. The wood is thick and good quality, and the safety hinge on the lid is strong, so I don’t worry about the lid falling and smashing my little ones’ fingers. Thanks to this nifty toy box, we were able to take this completely uncontained mess…

…to THIS!!! And check out that HAPPY girl sitting proudly atop her new toy box!

after

She GLADLY helped put her toys away in her new box and to this day loves sitting and playing on her new toy chest, and helping to clean up! Delta Children’s Products sells many more types of kids furniture including toy bins, chairs, beds, chests, easels, desks and much more in licensed characters and classic colors like white, cherry and light wood. Delta Children’s Products can be purchased at children’s retailers such as Babies-R-Us, Buy Buy Baby, K-Mart and Target, as well as online at Amazon.com. See a complete list of retailers here.

I can’t wait for Christmas. For all the normal reasons, of course, but mostly to wrap up all the presents that are taking over our closet and get them under the tree! Seriously, I don’t know how/where parents of older kids store presents; we’re lucky because our kids are young enough to not go snooping and we can practically hide them in plain view and be fine. But I know in just a year or two we’ll have to start getting really creative with our hiding spots. But for now, our closet is a huge, cluttered mess! And speaking of clutter, here’s a way to de-clutter your charger cables and cords.

logo

Whooz? Vinyl Labels are a lifesaver for those who have trouble finding their iPhone/iPad/iPod cables among a sea of other cables, or who just want a little personality on their chargers. I reviewed these labels back in October and I love them! You can read that review HERE. For those who missed it, basically these fun labels go on your iDevice chargers and keep them organized and looking super cool. They are sturdy, easy to use and come in tons of cool designs.

Britney

And just in time for the holidays, they have some even cooler, super funny designs for the iPhone. All of the new designs are so clever and creative. The descriptions of the designs crack me up even more than the drawings, especially for the Domesticated Set. And one pack comes with one of each character, so if you order the Heroes iPhone set, you have enough labels for FOUR iPhones! At $12.95 per pack, that is a steal!

domesticated freaks supers

The coolest part about Whooz? is their new workers; they have paired up with The Arc of San Francisco, a nonprofit association for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The employees get paid minimum wage ($10.75!) and are happy as can be hand-packing the Whooz? Labels. So each Whooz? Box is packed with love, and you can feel good about your purchase. It’s good karma all around! You can read more about the partnership at the Whooz? blog HERE. Whooz? Labels can be purchased online and are $12.95 for a pack of 4 labels (iPhone and iPad). But if you enter today, you could be one of THREE Winners to receive a Pack of Whooz? Labels of Your Choice!

I currently hold a leadership position in our church’s women’s auxiliary, which entails conducting meetings, attending meetings, and occasionally teaching lessons to a large group of women every Sunday.  I’ve had this calling for a few months now, and I feel like I am still scrambling to get organized.  In every meeting, there are more papers to hold on to and lots of notes to be made, and if I don’t come prepared, I end up scribbling on the back of already-scribbled on coloring book pages left in my church bag.  I decided I needed a much better system, and I remembered how much I loved Capri Designs and their functional, useful, and visually beautiful products.  I knew they’d have just what I needed.

Capri Designs Color Palette Logo, FinalAnd they did.  Capri Designs sells a designer-style collection of stationary, back to school, and home office supplies for the working woman and homemaker.  Everything they sell is something I would love to have, honestly!  This is the Padfolio with Clipboard, in their Signature Anchors Away print, which is 100% the solution for my weekly scramble.

IMG_8379

Why I love it:

There is an interior pocket to hold loose papers as well as a sturdy clipboard on the front to snatch onto anything loose flying around.  This is perfect for holding announcements as I’m reading them.  The interior notepad contains 50 sheets of papers with these cute little anchors on them, and the surface of the padfolio is hard and strong enough to write on.  The print is classic and still fairly professional.  It measures 9.5″ by 12.625″ by 0.875″ so it can accommodate full sheets of paper without a problem, and is sold for $14.50.

I was also sent the Magnetic Writer’s Round to review, and it is just as much a favorite of mine.  I’m usually in the kitchen when I need to jot down a number, a shopping list, or a to-do list, and having these notes on the fridge where I can pull one out with one hand and not mess with peeling, sticky surfaces, or even having to put them away when I’m done, has been perfect!

IMG_8368fridge

This is the Vivid Paisley print and it contains 175 notepad rounds!  You could also stick one of these inside a locker or metal file cabinet, and never be without scratch paper to jot down an address or number.  These are sold for $7.50.  When the rounds run out, I’m excited to use this to store pencils or maybe even extra fridge magnets.  What a cute storage box it will be!

Nice CableKeeps {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Warning: Use of undefined constant user_level - assumed 'user_level' (this will throw an Error in a future version of PHP) in /home/dandysof/dandygiveaway.com/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-google-analytics/ultimate_ga.php on line 524

Remember how a few weeks ago I posted a review on a product meant to help identify and organize your iPod/iPad/iPhone cables? Well, here’s another one to help de-clutter that drawer/purse/closet where you store your chargers and cables.

logo

Nice, Inc. was founded in 2011 “to bring premium products to market that delight, inspire, and build on our foundation of empowering our local community, reducing environmental impact, and sharing our success.” So far, the only product they offer are these ingenious CableKeeps, but I can’t wait to see what else they come up with to “inspire and delight” me, because I think they are destined for great things! My favorite part of their company is they are a husband-wife team, and their product tester is their 10-year old son who “has a knack for finding weakness.” If I’ve learned anything from having kids, it’s that they really are the best product testers, and they will surely be honest with you!

products

CableKeeps are cute, sea-life shaped creatures that are meant to–you guessed it!–keep your cables organized! They are made from a non-toxic, recycled (and recyclable) hard plastic-type of material. They have designed several shapes to fit the various types of adaptors for your iDevices, but the general principle is this: the charger portion of your adaptor slides into the mouth of the sea creature and the cord wraps around its tail. This keeps everything nicely bundled and safe wherever you need to store it.

Nibbles

I tried out “Nibbles” for my iPad charger and loved it. The material is hard yet pliable, so I’m not worried about it breaking or stretching out of shape. The charger fits snugly in the creature’s mouth so it won’t fall out, but it’s easy enough to remove when I need to. I really like the small indentation in the fish’s fin that lets the dock connector get nicely tucked away and kept in place. “Nibbles” keeps my adaptor nicely organized and held together so I can find it when I need to and keep it all together when it’s in use.

holding

I think this concept is great. I personally don’t have to carry around multiple chargers throughout my day, but I imagine there are tons of people out there who have iPhone, iPod and iPad adaptors floating around in their purse or briefcase and are often frustrated when trying to find each cord to charge their products. Having the cables wrapped around a specific CableKeep would help solve that problem. I can also see these being very nice (pun intended) when traveling. There’s always a mess of cords and cables in my luggage and I’m always worried a cable will fall out and get left behind…but not if it was attached to “Nibbles.” I would easily spot a bright green piranha on the hotel floor and never lose a cable while traveling again!

prize

Nice CableKeeps come in six different colors of each design. There are two different designs for the iPad adaptor (“Nibbles” for your standard adaptor and “Gulp” for standard and international), and three different designs for the iPhone adaptor (“Goldie” for iPhone or iPad Mini, “Ink” for iPhone UK, and “Spike” for iPhone EU). Individually, each CableKeep is $16.00, but you can buy bundles of five of the same product (“Gulp,” “Nibbles,” or “Goldie”) for $60. And now, when you use the code NICEBUNDLE, you can buy a mixed multi-pack of CableKeeps with any five CableKeeps. And, lucky for you, you can enter to win “Gulp” for your iPad and “Goldie” for your iPhone!

Enter to win a set of TWO CableKeeps!

This is the first of two Blog Hops hosted by The Review Wire this week!  Be sure to follow along below and then check in with The Review Wire for her grand prize of a Zumba Exhilarate 4 DVD program {RV $60}!
Anything-Goes-Giveaway-Hop-November1Our giveaway here on Dandy is being sponsored by my favorite company to work with, Brylane Home!
But before we get into the review item, let me explain our apartment and our need for some help.  I don’t know how old our apartment is, but there are sure some funky things about it.  Clearly it was originally built at a time when the only way to heat the house was through a wood burning stove in the kitchen.  There is only one bathroom, with all the pipes exposed, and its on the main floor (with no bathroom upstairs near the bedrooms), and what really kills me are that there are NO CLOSETS downstairs!!  It was almost a deal-breaker, but we were really getting limited on options in trying to find something deleaded in Boston.  I still love our place, but we’ve had to get a little creative with storage.
coat
No closets means a lot of visible clutter and our mud room has become the dumping ground.  I think the biggest problem is the variety of shapes and sizes of things that need organized.
1594_12833_mm
Brylane Home offered us the 5-Tier Metal Closet with Hanging Rod to help in our Fall-cleaning frenzy around here, and it has been the best thing to rock our mud room!  It came in a number of compact pieces packaged extremely well and extremely hard to separate!  For the best, I guess.
IMG_7047
The instructions are kind of intense because there a just so many steps to putting this together!  Follow the directions and you’ll be fine.  Two women (myself and my sister-in-law) were able to put it together in probably 45 minutes.  Approach it calmly and the instructions will be straightforward and everything you need is included.
IMG_8201
Ta-da!  Once put together, this is VERY sturdy!  Lots of nuts and bolts in several directions holds everything together and gives you the peace of mind that it will hold a lot of weight.
IMG_8198
There is a place for everything!  I love that everything is off the floor, with compartments all up the right side, and the long open space up top.  The clothing rack is high enough from the bottom that you can hang coats and still store shoes below without much competition for space.  The coat rack feels like it could even handle a child swinging from its rod.
IMG_8199
My only criticism is that I wish more of the swirly designs up the sides were right-side-up hearts instead of upside down.  I kind of think of butts instead of hearts when I see them.  Maybe its a well-known style I don’t appreciate.  Its still gorgeous, regardless.
IMG_8197This metal closet has been just the ticket as we’ve been pulling out more winter coats and accessories.  There is a place for everything, the mud room looks organized and contained, and this structure is not at all bulky or cumbersome.  I love having this in my home!

Whooz Vinyl Labels {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Every once in a while an invention comes along that is so brilliant that we all scratch our heads and wonder, “Now, why didn’t I think of that?!?” This pacifier from RazBaby that shuts when it falls to the ground is one, this PaintZoom is another, and this ArmPocket Armband for running is one of many, many amazing products that come out every day that make our lives so much easier (lucky for you, a giveaway for ArmPocket is coming later this year!). And today’s giveaway is no exception!

logo

Whooz? Vinyl Labels for iDevices was designed to solve the problem of lost, stolen or “borrowed” cords and cables for iDevices. Have you ever tried to find your charger for your iPhone or iPad in a  messy sea of cables, cords, chargers and earbuds? This is our “technology drawer” in our desk and it’s a pretty frightening place. And if we’re looking for a specific cable in a hurry, forget about it!

drawer

Whooz? Vinyl Labels solves that problem by personalizing your cords and color coordinating them so they’re easily identifiable, no matter where they are. I was sent a set of vinyl labels for the iPad and iPod/iPhone. Each pack of labels comes with four designs: Isaac, Cat Lady, Jeff and Britney for the iPad; and Rico, Cindy, Charlene and Dexter for the iPhone/iPod. (They also sell sets of plain colors, but I think the characters are much more fun!) So not only do you get your choice of which awesome person you’d like to deck out your gear in, but if you are a family of iPhone/iPod/iPad users, you can all have your own rad set of stickers!

all

I used the Britney labels for my iPad cords and accessories. Each character has a description and I love Britney’s the best: “She carries a notebook full of her ‘work’ and calls herself a hiphop artist. Britney can throw down a good beat, but we’re still waiting to hear an actual song.” Ha! I love that this company doesn’t take itself seriously 🙂 Here’s what Britney looks like when assembled.

Britney

I love the tongue that sticks out at you! The labels come with clear instructions and were really easy to put on. I had a little trouble getting the earbuds covers to flatten, but other than that everything worked great. The vinyl is good quality and shouldn’t rub or peel off easily. I love the way they look; I will NEVER have a hard time finding my charger cords or earbuds in a sea of cables again!

labels

Whether you need these labels to keep your whole family’s device cables straight or you just want to add a little personality to your cables, these labels are definitely worth the low price tag! Whooz? Labels can be purchased online at WhoozIzIt.com and a set of four is just $12.95. They also sell a Global cable set for those of you overseas for the same price, and if you’re a Macbook user, you’re in luck: they are designing a set of labels for Macbooks which will launch January 2014. Connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to hear about the latest news, deals and shenanigans!

One winner will get a set of Whooz? iPhone/iPod Labels AND a set of iPad Labels!

**Because I was sent the winner’s prize items along with my review items, the winner will be responsible for paying shipping from me to you, via PayPal invoice.  The labels are light and shouldn’t be more than a few dollars.**

** This giveaway is open to U.S. entries only.

** The winner of this giveaway will be drawn no later than the morning of October 28th, 2013, and will be emailed within 24 hours.  If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

Storage Wardrobe from Brylane Home {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Dear friends, remember the last giveaway we did with Brylane Home, and how there were SO many comments left about how great a certain storage wardrobe would be?  I listened and…good news, today there is one being given away!!  This is going to be a two-part post featuring the some of the fabulous furniture, appliances, and storage options from Brylane Home!  (The Part II giveaway will be revealed next month!)

brylanehomeThis Fall has been all about clearing out, throwing out, and tidying up!  I’ve been tossing things right and left, taking bags off to donate, and I’ve made a FORTUNE off of things I’ve sold on eBay, haha!  It has felt great, and a big motivator to get our mud room in order was this snazzy 6-Drawer Storage Wardrobe from Brylane Home.  See how this all started:

IMG_6395

Yikes.  I know.  It has really become a dump-all, and this room often gets neglected and rarely put back together.  The solution:

71D9BTlbt6L._SL1100_Glorious.  I thought this would be perfect for the amount of space and stuff I wanted to keep in the mudroom.

IMG_6502I was surprised by how compact everything arrived, and I wondered how it turn out to be a full-size dresser, but it all turned out ok.  I probably spent 20-30 minutes assembling this guy.  Everything was labeled well, and the instructions were clear.  Below, the drawers may look flimsy, but a square solid piece fits in the bottom and helps keep its structure sound. IMG_6512

I was originally attracted to the lightweight frame and the pull-out drawers that won’t smash little fingers.  My toddlers can pull out the drawers, pick out their shoes, and put everything away without any loud drawer-smashing or finger-pinching.

IMG_6518

We went with black because of the scuffs and markings that inevitably adorn anything light-colored in this house, and so far, its done a great job holding up and looking nice.

IMG_6514

What a difference!  I LOVE this storage unit!  I love how it tidies up our dumping ground, and how easy it will be to later use it in other spaces, like as a clothing dresser in a bedroom, or as a craft stash.  Can you picture in your mind just such a use for this?

This is originally $89.99, but on sale now for $59.99, and it also comes in white.  You can purchase it at www.Brylanehome.com, or on Amazon HERE.

Good luck!  And if you don’t win this one, remember another awesome storage surprise is being given away next month!

Do you remember Lisa Frank art and school supplies?  The techno-bright colorful, happy, and extremely pre-teen girly line of pencils, stationary, folders, lunch boxes, etc.  If there ever was a fan, it was my 11-year-old self who would do anything for another item in my collection of Lisa Frank things to take to school.  The same feelings of, “I want one of EVERYTHING here!” and “I want the whole collection” and “I MUST have one of these in that print!” came flooding back as I awgled over everything in the darling shop called Capri Designs.

Its like a grown-up collection of stationary, back to school, and home office supplies for the working woman and homemaker.  Let’s begin with some of my favorites!  This is one of the cutest clipboard and paper sets I’ve seen!  I only wish I had one back when I was teaching Home Ec, and always had a clipboard in my hand.

And oh how I need some of these magnetic writer’s rounds for my fridge!  I seem to always be scrambling to find a post-it, and these notes are just so adorable, and would always be where I needed them.

If you’re currently a student, and find index cards useful for studying, wouldn’t these colorful tabbed index cards only encourage more studying?!

And I would love to use these signature note cards to send thank you cards and sweet notes to friends:  SNC_5371_ANCHORS AWAY_1, L

What really gets me are all the organizational gems, like these file folders!  SO cute!

 FFL-5355-VividPaisley

I was drawn to literally every product from Capri Designs, but the padfolios won my heart.  Capri Designs sent me two of their padfolios, and they are beautiful!  Here is the Signature Mini Padfolio with Pocket Organizer in Cottage Rose, along with the Medium Padfolio in Heritage Floral.  I LOVE this cottage rose print!

IMG_3261

These floral prints make me so happy!!IMG_3260

I’ve been looking for a better grocery shopping companion than the scribbled piece of paper in my pocket, and this little friend totally fits the bill.  The notepad inside the mini padfolio is so pretty, securely placed, and a new notepad can be inserted in the slits behind when the first one runs out.  My pen stays where I won’t loose it, and the accordian file on the right holds all my coupons!  When I took it grocery shopping with me yesterday, I kept thinking, “this is such a great set-up”.  I love it!

The time has come for Banjo to advance to the tiny building blocks.  I cringe.  They are just so small and I’m sure they will be everywhere.  All over the house.  Overtaking and spreading throughout the various floors of our one tiny building blocks lacking home.  I cringe, but I know they are essential for his little fingers and fine motor skills!  I have until Christmas Day before the madness ensues.  Santa is bringing the tiny ones.  Up until the December moment Banjo has been building with the bulky ones.  They are big.  They are seen before stepping on.  They are safe for the baby.  Okay they do take up a lot of room.  Especially on our travels.  Who really wants to haul around the big, bulky container of building blocks???  There has to be an easier way.  And there is…

Much of the contents of that bin can be condensed right down to a tiny bag.

Lay-n-Go sent me their LITE 18 inch activity mat just to demonstrate how easy it is.

Even a Banjo can do it:

Perfect for traveling, organizing, and even keeping track of those tiny building blocks that Santa will be bringing to our house!

Lay-n-Go comes in 3 great sizes:  COSMO for cosmetics bag ($29.95), LITE activity mat ($24.95), and LARGE activity mat: ($64.95).

And some really great colors:

One lucky winner will receive a LITE 18 inch playmat from Lay-n-Go.  Winner’s choice on the color!

*Enter on the Rafflecopter below, by answering the question, “Which is your favorite color of Lay-n-Go?”  *Must leave the answer to this question in a comment on this blog posting to qualify.

And…  Lay-n-Go is also hosting their own BIG giveaway over on Facebook.  Be sure to go over to the Lay-n-Go Facebook Page to enter to win the Grand Prize:  One of all three Lay-n-Go products, a gift certificate to Sephora and LEGO Bricks!
