Milan Maternity {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Think about your wardrobe: do you have at least one top that is so comfortable and so flattering that you can put it on with anything–dress pants, jeans, a skirt, sweat pants–and instantly feel glamorous, even if your hair is a mess and you have no makeup on? I found one of those tops from Milan Maternity, and to feel that way while also being pregnant is no small feat!

logo

Milan Maternity is an online maternity boutique whose mission is “to provide designer style that flatters your new shape at prices you can be happy about.” And boy, have they got some cute styles! They have gorgeous tops–some that are dressy and some that are more casual–and don’t even get me started on the dresses! Super adorable. Most of their clothes can be worn before and after pregnancy, making them even more of a great deal! Here’s just a sampling of their cute collection:

collection

The shirt I chose to review was the Adriana in Bordeaux. This top is one of their “transitional” pieces that can be worn before and after pregnancy, and while nursing! There are hidden snaps and a shelf bra-type insert in the top that allow for convenient, discreet nursing while wearing the top. So much better than exposing my entire back and flabby middle while trying to feed a fussy baby! I can’t wait to wear this top with a tiny belly and try out the snazzy nursing feature.

snaps

The quality of this top is top-notch. The fabric is soft and stretchy and the ruching along the sides is long enough to to stretch over my growing belly (with plenty of room to spare!). It is well made and the style of the top is classic–I’m a total sucker for the faux-shrug style. My only complaint is that the “hidden” snaps for nursing end up showing more than I’d like them to. The fabric that is supposed to cover them gets bunched up, revealing the snaps most of the time. Surely a small snap on the outside to hold the extra fabric down over the snaps would solve this problem quickly, but it is one thing to be aware of.

collage

This beautiful top sells for $39, which is a deal when you consider that you can wear this shirt for years and years to come, not just 6 months of pregnancy.

me

I am super impressed with Milan Maternity’s selection of maternity and post-maternity clothes and would totally recommend their clothes to anyone! You can only buy their clothes online, but they have excellent shipping methods and great rates. And one lucky reader will get to choose a maternity top of your own for FREE!

Tommee Tippee {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I remember trying (almost literally) every single bottle system on the planet when my first son was born.  He was in the NICU for about a week after he was born, and nursing wasn’t working so well for us — but, frankly, bottle-feeding wasn’t working either!  He had a difficult time eating without getting lots of air bubbles in him, and we later discovered that he had acid reflux (which was quickly solved after his pediatrician gave us a prescription — oh, happy day!).  As we went through each of these bottle systems, though, we discovered two that we liked the best and stuck strictly to those two.  I stuck to those two bottle systems again when my second son was born, and they worked like a charm.

main

This third time around, though, I’ve been surprised to find that those bottle systems have changed and have all sorts of new fancy terms and styles!  Where are the original ones that I know and love??  As I started doing my research to explore my options, one new-to-me bottle system that kept popping up in my research was from the Tommee Tippee brand.  I don’t even remember hearing about this brand with either of my other two babies, so I was excited to receive Tommee Tippee brand items to try out at home this time around.

bottle

Closer to Nature Added Comfort Feeding Bottles — Colic in infants may be caused by a combination of influences including ingesting air during feeding. The new Added Comfort range from closer to nature is specially designed to help reduce air bubbles in the milk and to encourage a good latch-on to help reduce the risk of baby ingesting air during feeding. The air vents down through the tube and into the air-space at the base of the bottle, completely bypassing the milk.

This bottle combines my favorite features from my past two favorite bottle systems and puts them right into one bottle!  I love the air vents on this bottle (that seem to make a huge difference when it comes to gassy babies!), and I love that the nipple is shaped and designed to make the transition from breast to bottle and back again easier.

bib

Closer to Nature Milk Feeding Bibs — Closer to Nature Milk Feeding Bibs have a unique dribble catcher that absorbs moisture, helping prevent rashes on baby’s sensitive skin. Our Milk Feeding Bibs are super-soft on tender young skin, yet working really hard to soak up dribbles and spills before they can cause a rash. Perfect for those first milk feeds, they’re also ideal for the teething stage.

I cannot tell you how much I love these feeding bibs!!  The extra material and cushion around the neck is absolutely genius!!  Both of my boys were chunky babies with rolls and rolls on their necks and legs, and I can’t even begin to tell you what colors I’ve discovered in the neck rolls of my boys during their baby baths — that milk would get past carefully placed burp cloths or bibs and would just sit all day long!  On top of that, these bibs are so incredibly soft and are made of lightweight material.  I can’t wait to use these with Baby Boy #3 in the next couple of months!

Cake Lingerie {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Yesterday was the day to end all pregnant days.  I was up all night the night before because I was uncomfortable, I could hardly clean my house or do laundry without feeling pain in my lower back and hips, and I swear that I had to go to the bathroom every half hour throughout the day.  I have had a fairly easy pregnancy so far, but yesterday was my “Welcome-to-the-third-trimester” wake-up call.

And, really, it’s not going to get much easier for several more months!  I’ll continue to get larger and larger and my body will ache more and more, only to have the baby and find that although my body is no longer as heavy as it had once been, my body shape has inevitably changed and will continue to change while we all figure out nursing.  Don’t get me wrong — I love pregnancy and I especially love the end result of welcoming a new baby into the world, but sometimes, this part of womanhood can be difficult to embrace.

cakelingerie-logo

Cake Lingerie brings you delicious fabrics and indulgent details that give you a taste of your individual self. Within the practical world of pregnancy and breastfeeding we find the feminine in you. Although you may be a mother, here you are a woman first.  Feel confident knowing that each item has been innovatively engineered. From our flexible wire bras that mold perfectly to your changing body to technically constructed soft cups and seamless transition bras, each piece is as intricately unique as the different stages of your changing body.”

toffee

I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review the Toffee Clear Strapless Maternity Bra and Brief Set (which also happened to be last month’s Bra of the Month!) from Cake Lingerie, especially during this time when I’m not feeling especially feminine.  This maternity bra can also be used as a nursing bra, with cleverly hidden straps near the floral additions.  I really love that the fabric on the outside of the bra is a neutral tone that I can wear under light-colored clothing, but that the inside lining is a floral print material.  The bra straps can be worn in three different ways, which is helpful as I never quite know what set-up will feel comfortable from one day to the next.

dark toffee

In addition to bras and briefs, Cake Lingerie also offers camisoles, robes, shorts, and pants that can be used through pregnancy and maternity months and well into the nursing stages.  I love that these pieces can be mixed and matched to work through all seasons, from the warm summer months when the shorts and camis are enough to cooler fall and winter months where a robe would come in handy.

Mikarose for Maternity/Nursing Wear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

When I found out that I was expecting our first son a little over five years ago, one of my very first thoughts (after “Holy cow, it finally worked after trying for one year!” and “Oh, my goodness, it has to come out of me…”) was that I would get to buy a new wardrobe!  I was so excited to find all these incredibly cute clothes that would highlight my growing baby bump and to have something new to wear everyday!

 logo

Although I did a pretty good job of frequenting a good number of stores and boutiques that specialized in maternity and nursing clothing, I was surprised to find that most of my clothes were from some of my favorite pre-pregnancy stores and could be worn comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy and even during post-partum and nursing without any alterations!  Tara featured Mikarose a couple of weeks ago here on Dandy Giveaway and More, and I’m excited to have the chance to highlight how the Mikarose dresses can be used in all stages of pregnancy and even through post-partum and nursing!

 Pregnancy:

    S1309TealProduct_MED

Makenna Maxi — So far, I just can’t get enough of these maxi dresses!  I love that you only have to put on the one piece of (incredibly comfortable!) clothing and a statement necklace, and VOILA!  You can run to do your grocery shopping on your way to meeting some friends for lunch and then to see your husband be promoted all in the same outfit, and all while you’re sporting a baby bump and feeling like you’re wearing pajamas!

9001MintProduct_MED

Bailey — A friend of mine who is due just one month earlier than I am bought this dress when she was just a few weeks along.  I saw her wearing it at church and immediately asked where she got it because I could see the potential to wear this dress comfortably through an entire pregnancy and again when not carrying a baby.  She’s due next month (with twin girls!) and wore it again last week; it didn’t look tight and wasn’t tugging anywhere, and she could move without immodestly showing halfway up her thigh or all the way down the front of her.

Nursing:

F1203_Valerie_Brown_3099

Valerie — I loved the thick ruching around the middle that can cover that inevitable post-baby pouch and the criss-cross design that makes nursing easier and more modest in public.  This half-sleeve length is my absolute favorite, as it’s versatile through most seasons/weather while also covering upper arms that may not have seen the gym in a couple of months.

2101_Avery_Pink_Med_0704

Avery — How classy is this dress??!  I love the wide belt (again, to draw attention away from the middle and to accentuate a waist) while the button top provides easy, discreet access for nursing moms.  And, while I’m not usually one to choose pink, this shade caught my eye from the beginning, and I imagine that it would work even with my blonde hair.

Transitional:

7020_Cinnamon

Serena — I love the flowy nature of this dress, which makes it a perfect transitional dress in my mind!  It can be worn pre-pregnancy without looking like a maternity dress, during pregnancy with lots of material to move and grow into, and after pregnancy for nursing and hiding changing bodies.

F1205_Rebecca_Red_0578

Rebecca — I chose this dress to review, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it!  The gathered material in the middle makes it possible for me to still fit in it at 27 weeks pregnant with some room to grow, while also providing a way to cover my pouch after the baby is born.  The V-cross top makes it easier to nurse in the next few months while also accommodating the constant changing size of my bust.  My favorite part of this dress is the sleeves — there are cap sleeves sewn in underneath, and the detail fancies up the dress so I can wear it to the Marine Corps Ball with my husband in November!  I was also very pleased with the color, which is a deeper red than I was expecting and a much better color than a bright red would be on my very pale skin.

Thyme Maternity Skin Care Line {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Pregnancy does such a number to my skin!  I had horrible pregnancy acne just a couple of months ago (as in, the absolute worst acne I’ve ever had in my life!), and I have some marks from my previous pregnancies that haven’t completely faded.

 main

Thyme Maternity is a clothing line for pregnancy, post-partum, and nursing, but they also feature a great skin care line to help with these stages as well!

stretch

Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Stretch Mark Cream helps restore skin’s elasticity because of some key ingredients that make this cream so effective.  Seaweed extract helps circulation and helps reduce the appearance of stretch marks, vitamin E conditions and nourishes the skin, reducing scar tissue, and avocado oil provides moisture to skin.  This one is a great cream to use at night because it’s thick and feels like it’s a barrier or cover protecting skin — I’m not a huge fan of having thick cream on my hands (or stomach, I guess!) during the day, so I haven’t tried it in the morning yet.

leg

Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Leg Gel relieves and soothes tired legs through the use of grape extract (stimulates circulation and keeps legs smooth), argan extract (tones and helps cells regenerate) and ivy extract (helps reduce swelling).  I LOVE THIS ONE!  I notice the most pain on my legs and hips after a long day of running with the boys, and this helps me relax so much more.

breast

The blend of natural ingredients in Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Breast Cream helps promote firmness of delicate skin in the bust area.  It’s enriched with natural shea butter for nourishing moisture, passionfruit oil for hydrating, conditioning,  and nourishing the skin, and argan kernel oil for cell regeneration.

gel

Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Restructuring Gel is a specially formulated post-partum treatment that promotes skin recovery on stomach, hips and thighs. Quillaja and kigelia extract aid in cellular reactivation, aloe vera helps heal the effects of stretching, and lemon, orange, and grapefruit essential oils help skin renew tone and elasticity.

 nipple

Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Nipple Ointment is a 100% USP pure lanolin ointment that soothes and repairs cracked skin. It protects against dryness and relieves the discomfort associated with breastfeeding. Make sure to pack it in your hospital bag! Non-toxic and safe for mom and baby.

Milan Maternity {Giveaway} – CLOSED

I have to admit that my absolute favorite stage of pregnancy is RIGHT NOW — I’m 26 weeks along, meaning that I’m not too huge but actually look pregnant, my morning sickness is completely gone, and I have tons of energy.  **So sorry to those of you who are still throwing up around the clock or already have swollen ankles — I really lucked out this time!**

My favorite part of pregnancy, though, is having the baby bump.  I hate to think of it as an accessory, but I really feel like I look cute in just about anything I wear because I have a baby bump!  I’m more willing to try new styles because I figure that if I can’t pull it off, people will just think, “Oh, too bad — it’s hard to be pregnant and try to find clothes that fit you” and not “Yikes.  No sense of style on that one.”

  main

I discovered Milan Maternity about a month ago when I was looking for a few pieces that would work for all stages of pregnancy and maybe even for the postpartum bulge and nursing “trimester” (that lasts about a year…).  I immediately fell in love with the pieces from Milan Maternity because they’re cute and stylish, appropriate for a variety of seasons, transitional, and completely affordable!

“Pregnancy is a time to be celebrated and every woman deserves to have a great wardrobe during this special nine months!  However, most of us don’t have $80 to slap down for a single designer maternity top, and also don’t want to settle for frumpy, unflattering styles either.  Our mission is to provide designer style that flatters your new shape at prices you can be happy about.”

Adelina

Adelina Powder Blue

Luciana

Luciana Watermelon Dot

Vittoria

Vittoria Mocha

Evalina

Gabriella

I’m not kidding when I say that I literally took hours to select an item to review!  I looked through everything, decided that I wanted it all, tried to pare down my list, went through my closet to see if I was missing a certain color/style, etc.  I am serious when I say that I could have gotten anything (or everything!) from Milan Maternity and been completely happy!  I decided on this top to use in the fall/winter time when I will be nursing:

Julietta

Julietta French Roast

I tried it on immediately and it fit so well, even on top of my growing belly!  The fabric is high-quality, and I’m sure it could last quite a while and could easily be used past maternity and nursing stages.  I especially loved that the bottom part of this shirt didn’t flare like other empire-waist maternity tops do; this certainly makes this top a “transitional” piece that doesn’t scream “MATERNITY!” when worn.

PinkBlush Maternity {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Well, hello, summer!  We had an amazing Memorial Day weekend with gorgeous weather, a couple of barbeques, late nights outside eating popsicles and watching the boys play, and even a camping trip with some friends.

While I’m very much looking forward to trips to the beach, playing the swimming pool, and watching baseball games over the next few months, I’m definitely anxious for the hot, humid, summer heat from coastal North Carolina.  We’ve been through two summers here already, and I’m not sure if that prepares me or just scares me for what’s to come.  And, even worse, I’ll be in my third trimester expecting a September baby through the thick of it all.

I kept most of my summer maternity clothes that I wore when I lived in southern California (also in my third trimester expecting a September baby in the dry, 110+ degree Mojave Desert heat — remind me not to do this again!), but most of those clothes were dressy since I worked through my entire first pregnancy.  Literally.  As in, I started maternity leave on Monday and had my baby on Tuesday.

pink_blush_maternity_logo_zpse4f3ebc8

I desperately needed a few new pieces of maternity clothing that would be more versatile for the mom-of-two-young-boys job that I have now, and I was thrilled at the chance to review for PinkBlush Maternity!  You might remember the maxi dress that Camille reviewed a couple of months ago?  Well, I’m also convinced that the stretchy maxi skirt material is perfect not just for maternity wear but for postpartum/nursing and even when I’m not pregnant at all!

maxi

This Burgundy Striped Maternity Maxi Skirt is amazing!  I love the stretchy material that will no doubt fit in a couple of months when I’m bigger but that I could have easily worn a couple of months ago when I first found out I was expecting.  The panel is wide with great support, and it can be adjusted to make the skirt longer or shorter as needed.  Here are a few other pieces of trendy maternity clothes that I’ve had my eye on:

BUMPED by BLANQI and a $25 Target Gift Card! {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Already, this pregnancy with baby number three has been quite the adventure.  While my morning sickness was off and on for only about six weeks (hallelujah!), my body started changing almost immediately.  By about six weeks along, my belly button was flat and a bump was emerging.  I had difficulty bending over by about eight weeks along, and I was firmly in maternity clothes by twelve weeks (though, let’s face it, I’m in love with stretchy maternity pants!).

This past month, though, one of the worst changes has been my muscles stretching and round ligament pain that I’ve never had before.  For some reason, I had it in my head that my muscles had already stretched twice before, so they knew exactly where to go and didn’t need to be stretched any further.  (Don’t laugh — no one writes the book “What to Expect When You’re Expecting the Third Time”!)  Evidently, that’s not the case.

When I discovered that the Open Bust Maternity Support Cami from BUMPED by BLANQI was going to be released at Target.com this month, I was elated to be invited to review the product!

Bumped-by-Blanqi

Here are some of my favorite features for the Open Bust Maternity Support Cami from BUMPED by BLANQI:

Seamless, under-bust support — I like that this cami has a low scoop to avoid having to wear so many layers (especially during the hot summer months!).

Comfy, knit-in support belt — This is my saving grace!  I can notice a huge different when I’m wearing this belt, which seems to hold up my growing stomach and alleviate back aches.

Bottom bellyband – I have a couple of non-maternity capris that fit well everywhere else but can’t be buttoned.  This extra bellyband is tight enough to keep unbuttoned pants in place.

Moisture-wicking fabric — This feels great during some of our warmer days lately and is perfect to wear while working out.

maternity

BUMPED by BLANQI also released a nursing cami for moms to use in the months after giving birth.

“The Postpartum & Nursing Smoothing Cami with Built-in Belly Band from Blanqi soothes and supports hips, back and sides. It features an open bust for easy access when nursing and provides perfect coverage for modesty. The bottom bellyband keeps unbuttoned and loose pants in place. Easy-care Nylon and Spandex ensure comfortable, long-lasting wear.”

These two new BUMPED by BLANQI products are incredibly affordable ($34.99 through Target.com), and they both come in cream and black colors.

Milk Nursingwear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I like to surround myself with a group of friends from my church who all recently have had babies because we all have some much in common and so much to talk about!  Interestingly, all of our babies want to eat at the same time–right in the middle of church.  So all of us slip out to the mother’s lounge at the same time and enjoy getting to visit with each other while nursing!  Weird?  Well, all of our babies are turning into feisty, squirmy chunkers who are becoming less interested in breastfeeding, and more interested in talking with their other baby friends, so its getting kind of difficult!  I had to laugh this last Sunday as almost everyone in the lounge was trying to tackle their baby back into their lap while staying decently covered.  We were all struggling!  How I wish I was wearing my new top from Milk Nursingwear!

Their tops and dresses come in some great styles and lovely fall colors.  And they don’t even look like nursing tops!  Here are some of my favorites:

And the dresses are just as lovely. These solid colors and sleek designs are so easy to dress up or down, making them extremely versatile.  The styles allow for discreet nursing, and access that doesn’t entail lifting up the whole shirt, or pulling across a whole portion of the garment.

I am so so pleased with the side-shirred nursing top in long sleeves I picked out!  It has become my favorite nice shirt to wear when I go out this winter.  I’m impressed with the construction and the shirring details on the side.  I love that it is long enough, warm enough, modest enough, and I’m happy about the color.  It looks like it will hold up after a large amount of washing and baby-pulling, and remain free of snags and piling.

Time to brag: I just stepped on the scale this week, and weighed in at some incredible number I haven’t seen since I was 15!  This is 100% thanks to breastfeeding!  If you’re on the fence and have ever needed another reason to breastfeed your babies, let this be a huge motivator!

One lucky winner will receive $35 to spend at Milk Nursingwear!

Simple Wishes {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Being able to breastfeed my babies has been quite a rewarding, fulfilling, bonding experience.  I love that I’m giving my babies a good head start in life and that I’m offering them custom-made nutrients along with my own immunities towards some nasty stuff going around right now.

For those of you who have also nursed your children, you know it can be a joy and a pleasure, but it can also feel like you are tethered to this time-consuming and not-always-convenient obligation.  I cannot imagine what kind of an intense commitment it would be to try and keep up your milk supply as a working mother outside the home.  The time alone that it takes to pump would drive me insane.  Not to mention how physically awkward and sometimes painful it can be.

Simple Wishes has created in innovative product that transforms your experience “at the pump”.  They have designed a signature hands free pumping bra that allows you to MULTITASK!  There is the key, ladies!  You can relax and free up your hands while hooked up to a breastpump, and concentrate on all the other hundred things that have to get done!

This pumping bra is adjustable in size so you can obtain a perfect fit regardless of what physical phase of motherhood you are in (aka milk supply and weight fluctuations).  Straps and a 2” zip-in center panel allow for an even better fit.  A perfect fit is practically guaranteed.  The pumping bra looks comfortable enough to wear throughout the day, but also easy enough to slip on and off without removing a nursing bra or shirt.  The hands free pumping bra is also machine washable, and designed in the USA.

I can only imagine what a life-saver this pumping bra is for the working mother, but also for the mother who pumps often because of variable schedules.  I just have to mention the list of celebrities with the Simple Wishes Hands-Free Bustier that includes Angelina Jolie, Gwen Stefani, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Julie Bowen, and Minnie Driver!!

Doesn’t this look like a genius product?!  If you are a breastfeeder, or plan on being one in the future, get excited because one lucky winner will receive their very own Simple Wishes Hands-Free Bustier in your size and choice of color!
