Milan Maternity {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Think about your wardrobe: do you have at least one top that is so comfortable and so flattering that you can put it on with anything–dress pants, jeans, a skirt, sweat pants–and instantly feel glamorous, even if your hair is a mess and you have no makeup on? I found one of those tops from Milan Maternity, and to feel that way while also being pregnant is no small feat!

logo

Milan Maternity is an online maternity boutique whose mission is “to provide designer style that flatters your new shape at prices you can be happy about.” And boy, have they got some cute styles! They have gorgeous tops–some that are dressy and some that are more casual–and don’t even get me started on the dresses! Super adorable. Most of their clothes can be worn before and after pregnancy, making them even more of a great deal! Here’s just a sampling of their cute collection:

collection

The shirt I chose to review was the Adriana in Bordeaux. This top is one of their “transitional” pieces that can be worn before and after pregnancy, and while nursing! There are hidden snaps and a shelf bra-type insert in the top that allow for convenient, discreet nursing while wearing the top. So much better than exposing my entire back and flabby middle while trying to feed a fussy baby! I can’t wait to wear this top with a tiny belly and try out the snazzy nursing feature.

snaps

The quality of this top is top-notch. The fabric is soft and stretchy and the ruching along the sides is long enough to to stretch over my growing belly (with plenty of room to spare!). It is well made and the style of the top is classic–I’m a total sucker for the faux-shrug style. My only complaint is that the “hidden” snaps for nursing end up showing more than I’d like them to. The fabric that is supposed to cover them gets bunched up, revealing the snaps most of the time. Surely a small snap on the outside to hold the extra fabric down over the snaps would solve this problem quickly, but it is one thing to be aware of.

This beautiful top sells for $39, which is a deal when you consider that you can wear this shirt for years and years to come, not just 6 months of pregnancy.

The Passionate Mom by Susan Merrill {Book Review}

_225_350_Book_842_coverI was super excited about this book based on its title, as this is something I really want to work on becoming.  I had high expectations, and though it was a nice book with some nice thoughts, I didn’t really change my life.
I was interested and attentive for the first portion of this book, but slowly lost my fire to finish as it continued.  Perhaps we didn’t jive because everything kept tying back to the biblical character of Nehemiah, which was a nice religious analogy to make, but he was brought up incessantly.  It felt like every other page, the author was referencing his story and making assumptions about his thoughts and motives, making them sound like fact.  Perhaps I am just not as familiar with or interested in Nehemiah, and if I had more of a connection with him, I would have appreciated all the speculation.
I didn’t exactly like seeing all the promoting of the author’s business, iMOM, throughout the book, though an occasional reference as to where to find more info was helpful.
The book has really just made me feel more overwhelmed than encouraged about the stresses, strains, and worries that are supposedly inevitably coming my way as my children grow older.  This has been affecting me moreso than any other literature to this point in my life.  It is sure making me appreciate how little and simple my children are right now, uncomplicated and obedient, and I am only more dreading their growing older into rebellious and difficult children, though I don’t think that was the intent of the book.  I’ve been feeling more aware and appreciative after finishing, but not exactly empowered with knowledge, as I hoped would be the case.
It was finally about 3/4 through the book that it starting becoming engrossing to me, and I wasn’t reading out of obligation any more.  At this point were a number of sections about specific things to watch out for, specific things to do, and specific ways to mother.  Its as if the majority of the book was full of inspirational fluff, like gather figurative bricks with imaginary mortar to build metaphoric walls.  I couldn’t really get in to it.  When the book changed direction into offering how-to’s and what-to-do’s, I couldn’t put it down.
If you are someone who enjoys analogies and need a new perspective, and most of all, are prepared to read over a hundred pages about what Nehemiah did and didn’t do, you will love this book!
You can purchase and find more information on this book HERE.

Pink Blush Maternity {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Don’t tell my husband, but I’m actually getting so excited thinking about getting pregnant again!  Its not going to be for awhile, because “Little Brother” is only 9 months old, but they say that is the age where babies are just so cute that they make you want to have another!  Totally true.  I’m always thinking of the next great baby name, or the next bedroom arrangements for a family of five instead of four.  There are a lot of things I can’t plan just yet, but one thing I can plan on– I. Will. Be. Huge.  The last time I was pregnant, people could obviously tell when I was still in first trimester.  I’m sure the maternity clothes will come out earlier and earlier with each baby.  While I can’t do much baby shopping until we know if we’re having more boys or a girl, I can definitely do maternity clothes shopping well in advance!

A maternity clothes store I am pretty impressed with is Pink Blush Maternity.  They carry some super cute and trendy styles, often not seen in the maternity department.  I think they have a great selection that would please all sorts of style tastes.  You can find clothing that is form fitting and fashionable, as well as loose and comfortable.  They carry trendy maternity clothes like shirts and jeans suitable for every day wear, as well as more formal dresses and skirts.  You really could get your entire maternity wardrobe at Pink Blush Maternity and not break the bank while doing it.  Most of their tops are under $30, dresses around $35, and bottoms as low as $18.99.

4506_1_I had a terribly hard time narrowing down my favorites from Pink Blush Maternity.  Everything is just so dang cute!

I decided on this navy beige stripe maternity maxi dress because I love the simple design, long length, classic colors and versatility.  I tried on the dress and it is so cute and comfortable, and I would actually wear it to church this Sunday if it wasn’t just a little long in front.  Add a bump, and it will be just exactly right, come pregnancy!  Great stretch!  You wouldn’t even guess it was maternity clothing.

If you’re pregnant, go take a lunch break and pick out an outfit!  If you’re feeling a little baby hungry, go pick out a few things just to be prepared!  And you’ll love that $5 flat rate shipping!  (Free with orders over $50)

One lucky mama (or mama-to-be) is going to win $25 to spend at Pink Blush Maternity!

Citrus Lane {Review}

The doorbell ringing and knowing it is the box of something you’ve been waiting for: magical.  Knowing that in said box is surprise of goodies for your little one, tailored to his age and stage, hand-picked, and full of favorites you and baby are going to love: very magical!

logo@2xJust such a box arrived on our doorstep today!  I honestly had no idea what to expect, and hoped that one or two things inside would be age-appropriate for “Little Brother”, so that we could use it today.  As soon as I saw the Veggie Puffs and cute nested bowls, and thought, “How did they KNOW?!”  The baby is all about eating right now, and can’t seem to get enough of whatever is in sight, and I had just put on my shopping list to go out and get these little puffs.  I was so excited to pull out more treats from this “Fun with Food”-themed box from Citrus Lane! IMG_1742

Within minutes, I had the baby in his high chair ready to try out these cute snack bowls and puffs.  The bowls are the perfect size for everything!  I used some for my toddler’s dinner and was so pleased with their durability, especially after one was dropped onto the floor without a scratch.  Certainly “tough enough to handle anything junior can dish out”.

We also got a Goodbyn snack container (cheery, lightweight, and perfect for a mother of two who don’t yet know how to share), a Grapes Fruit & Veggie toy by Under the Nile (adorable, organic, and baby-friendly), and a Juice Beauty Nutrient Moisturizer for me!  Thanks Citrus Lane!
