Kate’s Camisoles {Giveaway}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Just yesterday I reviewed a shirt from Kate’s Camisoles and I said I was a fan. Today I’m here to prove to you again why I think her shirts are so wonderful, and YOU will get a chance to win one of your very own!

logo

In case you missed it yesterday, Kate’s Camisoles is a company focused on helping women stay modest while still looking fashionable. They have a huge line of undershirts (called camisoles) to go under or pair with any outfit. All of Kate’s camisoles are modest (and cute!) enough to be worn alone or under a shirt, sweater or dress. Kate prides herself on having the best fabric of any similar company on the market, and I have to agree. Of the three shirts I’ve reviewed for her, they’ve all been soft, easily washed while avoiding pilling, and dreamily smooth to wear. This time around, I was sent the Very Nice camisole to review, and I’ll say, it is Very Nice!

nice-shirt

The Very Nice is a cap sleeve-style top with a moderately high scoop neck, higher back and moderate-length cap sleeves. The top is long and hits at about mid-to-low hip. The thing I love most about the design of the Very Nice is the decorative white stitching around the edges of the top. It gives it a fun, different look while still being a classic piece that can be worn with just about anything. The Very Nice comes in seven vibrant colors, like Royal Azul (the color I ordered), Dark Orchid, Goldenrod and Wine, so you could find a shirt to go with any outfit you had!

nice_outfit

Like I said, the fabric is SO SOFT and comfortable. It’s a Rayon-Spandex blend that is smooth against the skin but retains its shape and size after a full day of wearing. I ordered a size Large so I could have room for Baby, and it’s still fairly loose on me, so were I not pregnant, I’d have ordered a size Medium and it would have fit just right (I was a Medium pre-pregnancy). See how I barely look pregnant when wearing it? I like that 🙂

Kate’s Camisoles are all made in the USA and can be purchased online and shipped fairly quickly. The Very Nice is $24.99 but is on sale right now for $18.99, which is a great price for this colorful, versatile shirt! And, if you enter below, you could win a Very Nice shirt in your choice of color and size, thanks to Kate’s Camisoles!

Back in November, I reviewed the Lace Inset Camisole from Kate’s Camisoles. I loved it and gave it a glowing review. Well, in the few months since then, “Kate” has made a few changes to that particular camisole and asked me to review the new version and give some feedback! Naturally, I had to say yes 🙂

logo

If you read my last review, you’ll remember that Kate’s Camisoles is a company focused on helping women stay modest while still looking fashionable. They have a huge line of undershirts (called camisoles) to go under or pair with any outfit–from lace to cotton, shiny to matte, and casual to elegant, Kate’s Camisoles has you covered (pun intended!). This Lace Inset Cami is simply beautiful and can be worn a number of ways.

inset

You can see it has a cap sleeve design that is just slightly longer than the average cap sleeve (a plus in my book). The scoop back doesn’t come down too far, and the front lace panel is perfectly placed to just barely peek out of most shirts, sweaters and other tops. The lace is delicate and adds just a touch of romance and flirtation to whatever you’re wearing. The fabric is a poly-spandex blend that is dreamily soft and comfortable while still retaining its shape, thanks to the spandex. The length is just right–hits at about the mid-hip–and I have to say I like this Ivory color even more than the Nude, which I had first.

close up

I like this new camisole even more than the old one! The new design ditched the decorative stitching around the sleeves and neckline, which I think makes it even more comfortable. Also, the top is one piece now, so there is no awkward seam up the back. My husband still laughs at the “wrinkled” fabric, but as those of us who know fashion understand, the “wrinkled” fabric is a look that is not only classic, but practical, too, especially when traveling!

outfit

Kate’s Camisoles has made a fan out of me, so head on over to Kate’s website and see what other wonderful layering tops she has in store for you! No matter what shirt/dress/sweater you need to make more modest, I guarantee you can find something that will work and that you will LOVE on her site!

So, it finally got “cold” here in Southern California. As in the high is only in the 50s and 60s during the day! I know this sounds ridiculous to those of you in below-freezing temps, but trust me, 50° seems really cold when last week we were strutting around in shorts because it was 80°! So, I’m all about layers right now–and have I got some cute layers for you!

logo

Peekaboo-Chic is an adorable online boutique that specializes in “lavish layering for women, ” especially in regard to “skirt and legwear accentuation.” I bet you didn’t know you could accentuate your skirt or legwear, but oh, you can! All of their creations are handcrafted from patterns made by fashion designers in Utah, and these ladies know what they’re doing. Their creations are so cute!

clothesboots

I’m loving all of their Boot Socks! I never seem to have the right boots or the right outfit to pull this look off, but after seeing how cute these socks are, I sure want to! They also make boho-chic hair accessories, beautiful slip dresses that are perfect for that dress that is too low at the top and too high in the bottom, as well as slip extenders. I was sent the Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt in Gray to review, and can I just say, I LOVE the versatility of this skirt!

skirt

First of all, it can be worn as the obvious, a skirt. The top panel can be worn flat to lengthen the skirt or folded down to shorten it and add extra coverage of your middle section. The fabric is polyester/spandex so it’s a little clingy on my bum when worn this way, but if I pair it with a pair of leggings or tights, it lessens the effect.

High waist

folded

Next, it can be worn as a slip extender. I’ve already praised the utility of such slip extenders, so I won’t say much more than they are awesome. I especially love this skirt as a slip extender because the fabric is super soft and stretchy but also a little silky, so it flows nicely underneath my skirt instead of bunching up or feeling uncomfortable like some slips can feel.

slip

Lastly, it can be worn as an adorable frilly tunic! Like I said, the material is really soft and silky, so I had to wear a shirt underneath and put a belt around my waist to help the top stay up and finish the look, but I love the final product! Super put together and right on-trend.

tunic

Do I need to say that I love this skirt? For $36 you are getting an incredibly versatile piece that can be worn in a variety of ways and a variety of settings. Dress it up with some bling and wear it to a wedding; dress it down with a pair of jeans and wear it to Girls Night! It comes in a variety of cute shades including Cream, Camel, Black, Red and Mustard, so it can be worn with countless skirts, dresses, pants, tops and sweaters. The Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt can be purchased at Peekaboo-chic.com. But if you’re feeling lucky, enter below to win a skirt of your own in Black or Cream! And be sure to connect with them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram to be in the know on the latest deals and steals!

Happy Day After Thanksgiving! Are you shopping today? If you are, good luck and stay safe! Or maybe you already went since most stores opened yesterday at 6 pm (and some at 6 am!). I, for one, am more of an online shopper, and here’s a gift that you could buy for a friend, daughter or yourself, right from the comfort of your computer!

Fancy_Logo

Fancy Slips was created by a mom wanting to give her daughter more modest options while shopping for skirts and dresses.  She created an entire line of fancy (and some not-so-fancy) slips in several designs and a variety of colors that help extend your just-barely-too-short skirts and dresses. You can see my first review of Fancy Slips HERE.

Fancy_me_whole

If you read my first review of Fancy Slips, you’ll know how much I loved my Fancy! The quality is great, the designs are beautiful and the customer service is phenomenal. This time I chose to review the most popular Fancy Slip, the Bethany.

bethany

My last Fancy slip I ordered was a size Medium, and it felt a little constricting–almost hard to walk in because it was so straight. So I chose the size Large this time which was definitely big around the waist but gave me more room to walk. However, the Bethany is also a fuller style, so I’m sure that helped it feel larger at the bottom as well. The lace on the bottom is beautiful and I love the flirty, frilly style. It works really well with all types of dresses and skirts, whether flowy or straight. I love the look of the Bethany under this swishy blue dress. blue dressAnd the Bethany makes this cool, super short $17 Target find wearable beyond the beach! coral

Fancy Slips come in several styles and lots of colors, so I guarantee that there’s a Fancy Slip for every dress in your wardrobe that will help you “extend your wardrobe in style.” Take a look at their shop and find a slip to make that dress in the back of your closet wearable again! If you live near the Orem Mall in Utah you’re in luck–today they’re having a special Black Friday sale: Buy 3 Get 1 FREE! For the rest of us, you can order online, but be sure to order soon to get your Fancy in time for Christmas! And for one lucky winner, Christmas will come early because Fancy Slips is giving one reader a chance to win a Fancy Slip of your choice!

Now that fall/winter is really starting to settle in, we’re all looking to layers, right? Even though I live in southern California where it still warms up to about 70 degrees during the day, I am still busting out my boots, sweaters and pretty undershirts. And I found some beautiful undershirts at Kate’s Camisoles!

logo

Kate started Kate’s Camisoles in 2004 as a way to help women stay modest while still wearing today’s fashions. She has dubbed this philosophy “fashion flexibility.” Kate has created more than 10 different styles of tops in dozens of colors that can be worn underneath sweaters, tank-tops, low-cut tops, or even on their own.

collage

Kate maintains that her fabrics are nicer than any other camisole on the market, and I can attest to that. I was sent a Lace Inset Camisole to review and the fabric is dreamy. It’s a polyester-spandex blend, but it’s like nothing I’ve ever worn. It’s soft and smooth and stretchy without being tight and restricting. I hardly feel like I’m wearing anything when I put it on! And yet, I feel warm, modest and smoothed out, all at the same time! Kate says she wanted to make a product that women can feel great in, and I think she’s done it!

shirt

dress

The Lace Inset comes in Ivory, White and Black as well, but I thought Nude would be the most versatile. According to the sizing chart, the camisoles have an “ample cut,” so you should order a size smaller than you normally would if you like a snug fit. I would normally order a Medium, so I ordered a Small. The fit was great, but maybe a little short. I think I could have gotten away with the Medium and been just fine. But maybe on a shirt that wasn’t so stretchy you would consider ordering a size down.

jacket

She carries several other styles of shirts including lace-covered camis, bright-colored everyday camis, shiny Glam camis and lace-edged camis (note that she uses the word “camisole” to mean shirt, not tank top–these all have sleeves unless they specifically say “tank”).  Her tops are a little pricier than other similar-type undershirts, but I believe that the quality of the fabric is worth the extra money. She also sells some really cute Fashion Scarves for only $16.99, and has some really good Closeout sales! Kate’s Camisoles can all  be purchased on her online shop, but don’t worry–she has a great return/exchange policy if you’re not 100% satisfied with your purchase. And lucky for you, Kate is offering one reader a choice of one of her Camisoles for FREE!

When I found out that I was expecting our first son a little over five years ago, one of my very first thoughts (after “Holy cow, it finally worked after trying for one year!” and “Oh, my goodness, it has to come out of me…”) was that I would get to buy a new wardrobe!  I was so excited to find all these incredibly cute clothes that would highlight my growing baby bump and to have something new to wear everyday!

 logo

Although I did a pretty good job of frequenting a good number of stores and boutiques that specialized in maternity and nursing clothing, I was surprised to find that most of my clothes were from some of my favorite pre-pregnancy stores and could be worn comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy and even during post-partum and nursing without any alterations!  Tara featured Mikarose a couple of weeks ago here on Dandy Giveaway and More, and I’m excited to have the chance to highlight how the Mikarose dresses can be used in all stages of pregnancy and even through post-partum and nursing!

 Pregnancy:

    S1309TealProduct_MED

Makenna Maxi — So far, I just can’t get enough of these maxi dresses!  I love that you only have to put on the one piece of (incredibly comfortable!) clothing and a statement necklace, and VOILA!  You can run to do your grocery shopping on your way to meeting some friends for lunch and then to see your husband be promoted all in the same outfit, and all while you’re sporting a baby bump and feeling like you’re wearing pajamas!

9001MintProduct_MED

Bailey — A friend of mine who is due just one month earlier than I am bought this dress when she was just a few weeks along.  I saw her wearing it at church and immediately asked where she got it because I could see the potential to wear this dress comfortably through an entire pregnancy and again when not carrying a baby.  She’s due next month (with twin girls!) and wore it again last week; it didn’t look tight and wasn’t tugging anywhere, and she could move without immodestly showing halfway up her thigh or all the way down the front of her.

Nursing:

F1203_Valerie_Brown_3099

Valerie — I loved the thick ruching around the middle that can cover that inevitable post-baby pouch and the criss-cross design that makes nursing easier and more modest in public.  This half-sleeve length is my absolute favorite, as it’s versatile through most seasons/weather while also covering upper arms that may not have seen the gym in a couple of months.

2101_Avery_Pink_Med_0704

Avery — How classy is this dress??!  I love the wide belt (again, to draw attention away from the middle and to accentuate a waist) while the button top provides easy, discreet access for nursing moms.  And, while I’m not usually one to choose pink, this shade caught my eye from the beginning, and I imagine that it would work even with my blonde hair.

Transitional:

7020_Cinnamon

Serena — I love the flowy nature of this dress, which makes it a perfect transitional dress in my mind!  It can be worn pre-pregnancy without looking like a maternity dress, during pregnancy with lots of material to move and grow into, and after pregnancy for nursing and hiding changing bodies.

F1205_Rebecca_Red_0578

Rebecca — I chose this dress to review, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it!  The gathered material in the middle makes it possible for me to still fit in it at 27 weeks pregnant with some room to grow, while also providing a way to cover my pouch after the baby is born.  The V-cross top makes it easier to nurse in the next few months while also accommodating the constant changing size of my bust.  My favorite part of this dress is the sleeves — there are cap sleeves sewn in underneath, and the detail fancies up the dress so I can wear it to the Marine Corps Ball with my husband in November!  I was also very pleased with the color, which is a deeper red than I was expecting and a much better color than a bright red would be on my very pale skin.

I grew up on a tropical island and we now live about 30 minutes away from the beach, so finding a swimsuit has always been a must for me every year.  You can imagine how easy that has NOT been some years.  I like to have something that’s cute and colorful but also covers me up and keeps me modest while playing at the pool or at the beach.  I also have quite the list of requirements for my swimwear that can make swimsuit shopping even more unbearable than usual.

  hapari

I discovered Hapari Swimwear at the very end of last summer (of course…) when I asked a friend where she had gotten her swimsuit.  The best part is that Hapari Swimwear offers the cutest MODEST swimsuits, so almost anything from this site works for me!

After modesty, my number one requirement is that the swimsuit be tankini-style.  Ever since I discovered these in high school, I’ve only worn tankini styles and have never looked back.

gold

Gold Coast Classic Bandeau Tankini Top

On top of that, I’m not a huge fan of halter tops since I don’t think they’re incredibly flattering on me, so that usually cuts out about half of any store’s inventory — in the case of Hapari Swimwear, though, many of their straps can be worn in three different ways (halter, cross-back, or  straight), which means that my choices are increased!  I love the versatility.

bora

SOS Bora Bora Tankini Top

I’ve also discovered in the past few years that I prefer to wear some sort of board shorts or boy shorts with my tankini top, and these Hapari choices are perfect.  Since my baby-bearing years, I’ve also found that tummy tuk helps me enjoy my swimsuit time just a little more.  While these bottoms that I chose may not be overly appealing or showy to everyone, I’m pretty much looking for practicality at this mommy-chasing-young-boys stage — these bottoms are PERFECT for me!

Hapari Swimwear also offers swimwear for men, junior boys, junior girls, after mastectomy, and in plus sizes.  They also have cover-ups, wraps, and cap-sleeve shores that can be worn under other shirts for modesty.

As a mom, I probably bend over to pick children/cheerios/toys/who-know-what off the floor at least 35 times a day. As tiring as it is on a day-to-day basis, it’s even worse on Sundays, when I’m trying to do it in high heels and a skirt without flashing the entire congregation at church. Does anybody else have this problem, or am I the only one? Well, for me anyway, this is where Fancy Slips comes to the rescue.

Fancy_Logo

Fancy Slips makes beautiful slips to go underneath all those skirts or dresses that you have that are just a bit too short, or that have a huge slit up the back. The company was started by a mom who saw a need for more modest options for her daughter for school dances. After creating a few dresses for her daughter, she created the Fancy Slip to help make almost-modest clothes just that much more modest and practical. She created an entire line of fancy (and some not-so-fancy) slips in several designs, and each comes in a variety of colors. Check out some of these beautiful designs:

I love the Ivory on Black look of The Maegan:

The Darcy is casual enough to wear under a skirt/tunic on a summer day:

You would need just the right dress/outfit to pull The Bibi off, but look how cool it is:

Fancy_Bibi

I was sent the March slip, and I think it’s just gorgeous. According to Fancy Slip’s measurement chart , I was right on the border of a small and a medium, but I chose the medium so I could have a little more room in the hips. I’m glad I did because the slip is fairly slim at the bottom, so I’d advise you to go to the next size up if you’re on the border like me. The design was beautiful and I could tell the garment was well made. Here’s what a slip looks like by itself (this one happens to be The October):

And here’s me wearing The March slip under my outfit last Sunday:

Cute, right? I’ve worn that skirt 100 times to church before, but I got so many compliments that week because of my Fancy! It adds that extra touch of glam to any outfit while also making it more practical. I was so much more comfortable picking up Goldfish and books out of the church pews in that skirt than I have ever been before! See? 🙂

If you’re in Utah, you can attend a free modesty class hosted by Fancy Slips at Apricot Lane Boutique at the Riverwoods the second Tuesday of every month from 7-8 pm. The classes talk about what modesty looked like through time, how fashion looks today and how to incorporate modesty, plus there are refreshments at the end, so really, it’s a win-win. If you’ve been to one, leave a comment and let me know how it was! Prices for each Fancy Slip range from $26-$39, which is very reasonable for something so versatile and practical.

POSHTOP skirts {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Remember those beautiful tops from POSHTOP I told you about a couple weeks ago?  (You can read that review HERE). And remember how I mentioned that they have the most beautiful lace skirts?  I am so excited to tell you more about them!

These skirts are just exquisite!  They are lined with their silky sold stretch micro fiber, fully opaque, and available in two lengths: below the knee, and full-length maxi.  They come in black lace over sand, or black lace over black lining.

Today’s hemlines are creeping up higher and higher these days.  The typical dress bought in a boutique or department store falls somewhere mid-thigh, which is usually embarrassingly too high for my taste.  I’m quite a shorty, and I still have trouble finding skirts that reach to my knees.  This beautiful knee-length skirt from POSHTOP is so lovely and perfectly modest, in a length that is so hard to find.

Often I try to avoid the whole at-the-knee/above-the-knee battle and just go for the oh-so-popular maxi skirt.  The POSHTOP maxi has yards of dreamy lace that looks so vintage and luxurious!  I feel like a million bucks wearing one of these!  My skirt got so many compliments at church last Sunday!  Even though the lace looks delicate, the skirt is quite durable, and can handle my boys crawling in and out of my lap all during church without a snag.  I appreciate that it doesn’t have a heavy weight for all those yards of lovely fabric, and it is so silky soft inside.

I feel like these skirts could be appropriate in so many settings.  They are dressy enough to wear to a formal event, but they could also be perfect in a business casual workplace.  I can’t wait to wear this to my husband’s grand work Christmas party downtown this year!

My favorite feature of the POSHTOP skirts is that they are machine washable (on delicate), and that they don’t show wrinkles, so they would surely travel well.  I literally took this skirt out of the bag and put it on.  No ironing involved, no wrinkles, no funky creases or pulls on the lace.  Plus, the elastic waistband makes this a go-to skirt during all of those transition times of weight gaining and losing because it will always look great on you.

Don’t miss out on any POSHTOP news or sales by joining their mailing list HERE, at the bottom right of the page.  Follow them on FACEBOOK and TWITTER!

Beautiful, beautiful!  And one lucky winner is about to receive their own skirt from POSHTOP!  Knee-length or maxi, and black lace on black, or black lace on sand!

Who knew finding shirts that are long enough for someone 5’2 would be hard to do.  I have a pretty short torso, yet I’m constantly annoyed by having to pull at my shirts to make them longer, especially after bending down to pick up toys and bending over to get little boys into car seats.  No thank you, plumber’s crack.  Eww, you see it everywhere.  It drives me crazy seeing girls bend over and exposing way too much back skin.  If I had tee shirt extender from Blush Accessories for every sad case of the shrinking shirt, I would share them like candy.

This is another super option for achieving that layered look and keeping your belly covered without layer upon bulky layer.  These extenders are shaped like a tube top and can be worn high for extra coverage up top, or low on your hips, and it will stay right where you’d like it.  It has a nice hemmed edge and made from a spandex blend, and it is actually really soft and comfortable.  I tried out the new lovely olive green extender and love the look!  I was quite satisfied with the soft cotton feel, construction, and clean appearance.  I’d sure love one in every color!

This tee-shirt extender will be a LIFE SAVER the next time I’m pregnant.  Most of my maternity shirts grow too short fairly early, and this little guy will be the perfect extension to my maternity wardrobe.  It would also be a great solution to covering up those jeans held together with a hair tie because they just won’t close over your growing belly!

The tee-shirt extender comes in olive, black, white and mocha, sizes S through XL, made proudly manufactured in Provo, UT!  USA, baby.
