Missionary Posters {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Want to know something cool? Me and fellow Dandy contributor Camille served a mission together! We were Performing Missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois, for 3 1/2 months and together we sang, danced, acted and sweated the summer of 2006 away. It was awesome!

ValCamToo bad Missionary Posters didn’t exist back then. Missionary Posters  is a company that makes (you guessed it!) posters and calendars for your missionary. The owner, Scott Perry, started Missionary Posters in January 2013 “as a way to help families keep the spirit of missionary work in their homes as their sons and daughters serve around the world.” He himself is a returned missionary who fell in love with the arts and design while serving a mission in Rome, Italy (how could you not?!).  And let me tell you, his eye for design is great. He was able to take this–a picture of my nephew, Elder Hansen, on his mission in Hungary–

…and turn it into THIS!

Doesn’t that look great?! You can see other examples of posters he’s done on his Pinterest page; all are very smartly done and include the same eight elements: a customizable headline (i.e. Serve With Love), photo, name and name tag (in English or the country’s language), country or state flag, mission name, service dates, Scripture images (English or country’s language), and favorite scripture. The end result is a very clean and artful homage to the missionary and his country/state in which he’s serving. It came boxed very carefully and wrapped in tissue paper so I wasn’t worried about anything getting bent or scratched on its way.

The quality of the paper was thick and it looks and feels awesome. My only complaint is the cutting job seemed a little off; there was a small black line running down the right edge of the poster and it seemed to be cut a little too close on the top. And that may have been a design flaw as opposed to a cutting flaw; either way, it didn’t ruin the whole thing for me, it was just something small that I noticed because I am a perfectionist and I notice tiny, insignificant details 🙂

The posters can be printed at 16×20 (what I reviewed), 11×14 and 8×10, and the prices are $49, $39 and $35, respectively. Ordering was really easy–just pick what you want and send in all the info–and Scott was great to work with. He sent a proof of the poster before he printed it so I could double and triple check that all the information I had included was accurate and that I liked the design.  Missionary Posters also makes countdown calendars, but these only come in 16×20 and 11×14 so all the numbers can fit 🙂 The calendars contain the same personalized information as the posters (except for the scripture) and are $38 and $32, respectively.

I imagine that there are few moments more exhilarating in ones life than opening a mission call!  As soon as you read those words, “You are hereby called to serve in the _ Mission”, I think an instant attachment is formed to this distant (or not so distant) land where you will be spending your life for the next 18 months to two years.  You immediately think of the people you’ll meet, and the good you can do while you are giving all you’ve got.  One of my favorite things about being a missionary was wearing the missionary nametag!  When I first was handed my real mission nametag with my name across the top, it felt so magical!  I had a real missionary nametag, and I was really a missionary!  I loved wearing it every minute of the day, and I miss having it pinned on my chest all the time.

When I came across Missionary Aprons, and saw their fantastic aprons with the missionary tag embroidered on the front, I thought, “How perfect!”  No matter what you’re doing, even when you’re cooking, serving, or cleaning, you can always be showing your tag, and what a fun wearable reminder of your missionary service after your mission is through!aprons on wheat copy

I also thought that these look like the most perfect gift for a missionary.  I had just the one in mind, too!  A dear friend of our family’s, who is now Sis. Loder, just left on her mission last week!  She’s headed to the France Lyon Mission, and my heart warms with pride every time I think of what a stellar missionary she will be!  She’s going to rock France!

I was practically beaming when I gave her this apron from Missionary Aprons at her missionary Open House/Farewell back home.

This is one high quality apron!  The poly-spun fabric is thick and sturdy, and not just basic black cotton.  This apron could handle a dumped vat of chili, and I doubt a bit of it would soak through onto your Sunday best.  The embroidery is expertly done with thorough and thick white embroidery thread that gives no hint of possible un-threading.  The look is so classic, and the solid black and white coloring makes it both distinguishable, iconically recognizable, and gender neutral.  The neck straps are adjustable which will ensure a good fit on most.  It is also very lightweight, so it wouldn’t take up precious suitcase space or weight, and the wrinkle-free stain-resistant fabric is exactly what a missionary needs.

These aprons sell for $29.95, and include the customized embroidering, and will ship within 5 days from Utah.  I know you’re thinking of your favorite missionary right now, and how much you’d love to get your hands on one of the these!

One lucky winner will receive a customized apron from Missionary Aprons!

I really love any holiday for lots of different reasons, but I especially love that my mom and my mother-in-law usually send out a cute little package for our family filled with treats, stickers, games, you name it!  The actual package itself is always fun, but it’s the thought and the sentiment that usually touches me the most.

That being said, I know as one who has put together a number of care packages that they can sometimes be a bear to finally get in the mail.  Figuring out what to send, how to send it, how much to shove in, and then the anxiety of waiting to find how much it will cost to send makes me really hope that the sentiment is later appreciated by the receiver!

REDSHIP Care Packages are the perfect solution for these dilemmas!  Each care package is already ready to go with snacks and a complete Chinese dinner (ceramic bowl, chopsticks, Ramen noodles, and fortune cookies) and are packed in a laundry bag inside a big red tube.  What a fun package for anyone to receive!

These packages are “uniquely designed for a college student, boarding school student, summer camper, and anyone you want to make smile. Our care packages have a universal appeal making it easy to send for a variety of reasons to a variety of recipients.”  As a military spouse and a sister/cousin/granddaughter of those serving missions, I could also easily see REDSHIP Care Packages sent to military members on training or deployment and also for missionaries on special occasions.

To give a personal touch, though, each REDSHIP Care Package also includes a personalized card with a pick-me-up or good luck wishes.

REDSHIP Care Packages offers a small, medium, large, extra large, and healthy care package options, along with a Red Carpet Club that allows you to select the dates and prepay (with a 10% discount!) for three future care packages to be sent out without you having to remember to get back online and send them.

REDSHIP Care Package sent us the Healthy Care Package option, and we loved it from the moment it arrived in all its cylindrical glory!  I love grabbing a couple of packages of snacks to throw in my purse as I run out the door for a playdate, and we were shocked to see how much could fit in the tube.  I would highly recommend REDSHIP Care Packages for anyone!
