Pink Sparkle Design {Giveaway} – CLOSED

I realized just a couple of days ago that this is the first time I’ve really had the chance to actually prepare for a baby to come!  With my first son, I was working full-time and teaching college classes at night through most of my pregnancy; I went on maternity leave about a month early with the idea of spending those last few weeks to get everything ready to go because we only had a car seat (not installed…) and the crib set up (thank heavens!).  Well, I started maternity leave on a Monday, went in for my weekly appointment on Tuesday where I found out that I was in active labor, and had a baby before the sun came up on Wednesday.  !!

With my second son, we had moved from California to Florida for a five-month training that ended when I was seven months pregnant.  We moved here to North Carolina when I was 33 weeks pregnant, pulled our things out of storage and moved into our house, and didn’t spend all that much time doing much outside of getting essentials ready for the baby, just in case he was planning to arrive early, too.  This time, though, I’ve spent the past week washing and drying baby clothes, setting out blankets and new burp cloths, and getting the nursery ready for a baby to come.  I’ve been able to think more about the little things that I wanted to do or have done, and I’ve been able to work on lots of last-minute projects that I’m sure I won’t have time to do in just a couple of weeks.

One of those things that I’ve wanted to do was have some fun shirts for the boys to wear when we leave the hospital.  My oldest has been so involved in this pregnancy, and he talks all the time about having a new baby brother to love.  While my two-year-old probably is in for the shock of his life, he also walks around carrying the baby’s blanket and rubbing/kissing my belly.  It’s amazing how much more exciting it is to have a baby when you have others in the home who are excited, too!

I’ve been looking for a while for some shirts, and one of the things that I wanted was a “middle brother” shirt.  Are you looking for one, too??  Well, let me save you the time — there aren’t any.  Or, the ones that I found have some weird character that no one knows screen printed on the shirt in the background.  Weird.  And definitely NOT what I had in mind.

I turned to Etsy to see what would be available there, and I came across Pink Sparkle Designs, which specializes in personalizing anything from shirts to water bottles to sunglasses cases using vinyl!  I hadn’t considered the idea of making my own shirts for my boys, but this was the perfect solution for a non-crafty person such as myself to have a cute personalized product for an incredibly reasonable price.  The heat transfer vinyl is custom made in personalized colors and with custom wording to fit your needs.  I was sent three different vinyl designs:  Big Brother, Middle Brother, and Little Brother

They’re durable and easily transferred, and the colors are incredibly bright and vivid.  I haven’t washed them yet for fear that I’ll do something wrong and mess everything up, but the instructions from Pink Sparkle Designs are clear and easy to understand.  I can’t wait to have the boys wear the shirts with these heat-transfer vinyl on them, and I’m especially looking forward to the photo shoot we’ll have afterwards.  🙂
