MixItUp

Did you catch that?  The grand prize of this huge blog hop is a Ninja Blender, and we’re also giving away an entire mega kitchen Ninja system right here on Dandy!  Today’s giveaway is sponsored by Brylane Home.

brylanehomeThey are the one-stop dream shop for anything and everything you could ever want in your home, and especially your kitchen.  Check out all these wonders that are NEW at Brylane Home.  Couldn’t you do with just about everything here?

kitchen stuffAmong their finest kitchen appliances, Brylane Home has an impressive selection of Ninja blenders.  When I heard that I’d be able to review this Ninja Mega Kitchen System 1500, I about died!  These high-powered, intensely strong, durable blenders have always been on my wish list for when we make it big, so to get my hands on one of these in my 20’s (ha!) is a dream come true.

blend1 copyTry to refrain your jealousy as I rant and rave about this treasure, and keep in mind that one is also being given away!

Ok, where do I start?!  There are so many fantastic things about this.  Just look at those blades!!  (Be careful as you pull these out of the dishwasher!)  As you can see, there are a lot of parts and pieces, but keep in mind that this basically will replace your Kitchenaid, smoothie maker, blender, and your hand-held mixer.  Within the box are an extra-large 72 oz. pitcher, 64 oz. processor bowl, single serve drinking cups & easy to use attachments, along with the big black base.

IMG_9404 copyIf you’ve ever tried making green smoothies in a $20 blender, you’ve experienced the not-so-desirable chunks of leaves that get stuck in your teeth.  If you’re a green smoothier, you really need to invest in something better, and this Ninja handles greens like a champ.  Its like this system doesn’t even bat an eye at frozen strawberries as hard as rocks.

The top lid is a little different, and I really really like it.  Once securely in place, only then are you able to press the handle down until it clicks and makes a secure and leak-proof seal.  Push the release button and it pops back up.

blend3 copy

I love being able to see the number of ounces and cups along the side.  9+ cups?  That’s huge!  The pour spout in the top corner is genius, and when lifted all the way, will stay open so you can pour without holding up with your other hand.

IMG_9411 copy

Wanna see what else this can do?  In the mood for cookies?  Included in this kitchen system is a 64 oz. processor bowl which is perfect for making salsa, chopping vegetables, and making pizza doughs.  It can also mix up to 2 lbs. of dough in 30 seconds.

blend4 copy

Making several dozen cookies was a snap, and they were honestly the best chocolate chip cookies I have ever made.  My husband spent probably more than an hour making cookies the week before, and then I showed how to do it all effortlessly in about 5 minutes.  I also tried making spinach artichoke dip.  It was incredible!

blend5 copy

To do this, you place an even smaller food processing part into the processor bowl, then mince, chop, grind and blend practically anything you want.  My husband asked something like, “Is it very powerful?” to which I responded, “anything that is measured in horsepower has got to be quite intense”.  1500 watts and 2+ horse power is remarkable for this kind of an appliance.

blend6 copy

Here’s yet another option.  See, there are SO many possibilities with this Ninja!  You also have the option of making up a one-serving smoothie and taking it on the run.  Two single serve blending cups with sip-able lids make this even more appealing and money-saving when you think of all the healthy smoothies you could make as you run out the door.

Has your mind been blown?!  I happily dropped our blender and smoothie maker off at Salvation Army yesterday.  Good riddens.  I will be 100% recommending this Ninja Kitchen System to anyone in the market for something powerful, reliable, and multi-functional.

You can purchase this blender from Brylane Home HERE for $219.  I LOOOVE anything and everything that comes from Brylane Home!  I have them to thank for all the best things in our home, from our storage systems, coat rack, guest bed, comforter…

My husband decided that he wanted to lose some weight, so he set some ground rules around here.  No pizza, no dessert except on Sundays, and especially no eating after hours.  He stopped bringing home delicious pastas and calzones on his way home from work around 9 or 10pm (he’s an investment consultant and the hours suck), and so I stopped eating them with him and we both lost quite a bit!  Charlie lost 20 pounds!  While I was going through greasy food withdrawals in late hours of solitude, I drank a lot of liquid to keep from snacking on high-calorie foods all night.  It sure helped!  I was buying a lot of diet soda and orange juice, and lugging it home weekly was getting old.  I never considered myself a big pop-drinker, so I probably didn’t really see the appeal of a Soda Stream machine until recently when I was taking an account of all the bottles in the recycle bin.  Sign me up, SodaStream!

SodaStream_logo_2010Our SodaStream Genesis arrived late one night and we were completely amazed with how many bottles of mixes were included.  This is the starter kit?  We were starting to catch caught the vision of how cool this thing really is.

IMG_9507Included in the basic starter box is the home soda maker, a reusable CO2 carbonator, two reusable carbonating bottles, and 12 mixes.  The set-up is easy to figure out, and honestly, anyone could get the hang of it after watching once.  The CO2 carbonator is super intimidating!  We were afraid something would explode while we were setting up, but everything turned out ok 🙂

ss1Simply fill the bottle with cold water, screw it onto the soda maker attachment, and press the top button in short bursts until you hear some LOUD squirt/noise, meaning its full of bubbles and ready to be tasted.

ss2Unscrew the bottle, dump in a cap of mix, then gently rock it and drink up!

ss3I think these 1-liter bottles are perfectly sized.  You can easily drink one of these throughout the day, or share a bottle between two of you in the evening.  The bottles store and seal well in the fridge, and the carbonation holds fine overnight.  We’ve had a blast trying a new flavor every night.  The root beer is perfect, the diet grapefruit is delicious, and the lemonade is my new favorite.  I chugged a whole liter and one sitting and I don’t think that’s the last time it will happen.

ss4

SodaStream makes over 50 well-known and well-loved flavors.  I think I payed $5.99 for an additional lemonade mix at K-Mart, which makes 12 liters, or 50 servings, so you aren’t making pop for pennies, but you are saving a little on cost.  The HUGE benefits come in the effort you’re saving by not having to load and unload cases of cans and 2-liters from the store to home.  You also don’t have to get creative in how and where you’re storing all your nectar because one can of mix will last you days/weeks/months, according to how much of a drinker you actually are.  You are also avoiding the mass of plastic that needs recycling because you can reuse the 1-liter bottles over and over again.

ss5

We also tried a few of these sampler packs.  They’re equivalent to a cap full of mix, so one of these samples makes 1 liter.  The diet raspberry-cranberry is delicious!  This is great for trying out a variety of flavors you didn’t even know you liked.  I’m currently on the hunt for more of that diet cranberry raspberry stuff!

ss6

Now that you know what these are all about, look for them in all your retail stores!  I bet you’ll be surprised how many places carry these mixes and machines.  Hurry and get your own, and start drinking pop more efficiently!

Hey foodies!  We’re so excited to be a part of Measuring Flower‘s 2013 Savory Summer Giveaway Hop!  No, this kitchen scale is not edible, but it can measure anything and everything edible, so I say, hey, it should count.

Savory Summer

Our giveaway item here at Dandy Giveaway is sponsored by EatSmart, who carries some terrific kitchen scales, all designed to help you out in the kitchen while preparing dishes as well as effectively monitoring your food intake on (let’s face it) all of our quests to stay in shape.

Let me preface by saying that I’ve wanted one of these FOREVER!!  I’ve been telling my husband we needed one of these for the longest time, and when a reviewing opportunity came up, I emailed him at work immediately to share my excitement!

precision-pro-silver-1500

Here is the EatSmartâ„¢ Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale.  There really isn’t a better choice on the market.  This guy is so versatile and $25?  Shoot, son.  The glossy finish and vibrant red make it slick enough to leave out on the counter all the time, and it goes so well with my red kitchen decor :).

Remember our molten chocolate lava cake addiction, and how we have to make them nearly every Sunday?  Ya, I’m trying to do the whole close-your-eyes-and-guess-which-one-is-heavier game to get an accurate 5.75 oz. of chocolate.  We’ve been melting down wafers, chips, and bars, pretty much anything chocolate in the house, to get our fix, and the guessing was getting ridiculously inaccurate.  Thank you EatSmart, for making this part of baking a whole lot easier and now just funnest game for me!

This device couldn’t be easier to use.  It even COMES with batteries, which is rare and quite a pleasant surprise.  Put in the batteries, turn it on.  My favorite part is the tare feature, where you can set on your container (such as your heavy ceramic bowl), then press tare, and the scale goes down the 0.0 oz.  From there, add your food and you are only measuring your chocolate chips, instead of the chips and the bowl.  100% useful.  You eliminate the weight of the container, plate, bowl, etc.

Now here’s why my husband loves this.  Two words.  Pinewood Derby.  Nothin like taking the hassle out of hauling along the drill, the glue gun, and a jar of coins to the derby and frantically adding or subtracting weight minutes before the race begins.  And then think about mailing stuff!  Holy heck, I hate guessing!  I hate being unsure about postage, worrying about if I under-guess and it will be sent back to me, but I don’t want to overpay, and it really is just another hassle to get to the post office atleast every week.  I’m an eBay-er.  Don’t judge.
If these very strong reasons didn’t talk you into getting an EatSmart kitchen scale, I don’t know what will.  Next to my KitchenAid, this is my favorite kitchen gadget.  That’s saying something.

You can win your OWN!  One lucky duck will win the EatSmart Precision Pro Digital Kitchen Scale.

You can also buy it on Amazon for $25, and check out the other kitchen scales available at www.eatsmartproducts.com.

When I left home for college, I looked forward to moving into an apartment that allowed pets so I could get a sweet baby bird.  I finally got my wish, and I’ve had two pretty parakeets light up our living room with sweet chirping and playful antics over the last two years. Well, after an unfortunate series of holiday vacation events, I’m birdless once again, darn it.  How coincidental that I came across some sweet little bird wall decals from Dali Wall Decals when I needed them most!

110108dalidecals

I went straight to the “animals” section, and picked out some tiny white Mini Birds – Set of 10 (for only $10!) for my kitchen appliances!

IMG_1821

I LOVE how they turned out!  So easy to apply, and crisp as ever.

IMG_1823

Then I also picked out these Simple and Cute Mod Birds – Set of 12 for $15!  I think these are adorable sitting on top of picture frames, or in this case, two love birds on top of our board of mushy love notes and pictures from when we were dating 🙂

IMG_1826

Wall decals are one of my favorite ways to decorate.  I love that they are only semi-permanent to satisfy the landlords, and I love how clean and crisp they come out–a look that is hard to achieve with a paintbrush.  I also love that the whole process can be done in minutes!

Dali Decals has a great thing going.  There were quite a few things that I noticed that puts them a step above other vinyl art companies.  First of all, everything arrived in a very sturdy triangular poster mailing box.  Nothing folded, wrinkled, or bent.  I appreciate the practice decal they sent me to make sure I know what I’m doing!  My cute little practice flower went up on my vanity mirror :).  Dali Decals also sent a little squeegee card to help with flattening and adhering the decals.  Along with everything came the most detailed instructions with pictures, steps, guidance, encouragement, tips and tricks!

Here is a coupon code for our readers!  Dandy5off will get you 5% off with no minimum purchase necessary.

Follow Dali Decals on Facebook and Twitter (@dalidecals) for the inside scoop!

One winner will receive a $25 gift certificate!!

Note that readers are only eligible to win one Dali Decals giveaway per 12 months.
