Whooz? {Giveaway}–CLOSED

I can’t wait for Christmas. For all the normal reasons, of course, but mostly to wrap up all the presents that are taking over our closet and get them under the tree! Seriously, I don’t know how/where parents of older kids store presents; we’re lucky because our kids are young enough to not go snooping and we can practically hide them in plain view and be fine. But I know in just a year or two we’ll have to start getting really creative with our hiding spots. But for now, our closet is a huge, cluttered mess! And speaking of clutter, here’s a way to de-clutter your charger cables and cords.

Whooz? Vinyl Labels are a lifesaver for those who have trouble finding their iPhone/iPad/iPod cables among a sea of other cables, or who just want a little personality on their chargers. I reviewed these labels back in October and I love them! You can read that review HERE. For those who missed it, basically these fun labels go on your iDevice chargers and keep them organized and looking super cool. They are sturdy, easy to use and come in tons of cool designs.

And just in time for the holidays, they have some even cooler, super funny designs for the iPhone. All of the new designs are so clever and creative. The descriptions of the designs crack me up even more than the drawings, especially for the Domesticated Set. And one pack comes with one of each character, so if you order the Heroes iPhone set, you have enough labels for FOUR iPhones! At $12.95 per pack, that is a steal!

The coolest part about Whooz? is their new workers; they have paired up with The Arc of San Francisco, a nonprofit association for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The employees get paid minimum wage ($10.75!) and are happy as can be hand-packing the Whooz? Labels. So each Whooz? Box is packed with love, and you can feel good about your purchase. It’s good karma all around! You can read more about the partnership at the Whooz? blog HERE. Whooz? Labels can be purchased online and are $12.95 for a pack of 4 labels (iPhone and iPad). But if you enter today, you could be one of THREE Winners to receive a Pack of Whooz? Labels of Your Choice!

Nice CableKeeps {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Remember how a few weeks ago I posted a review on a product meant to help identify and organize your iPod/iPad/iPhone cables? Well, here’s another one to help de-clutter that drawer/purse/closet where you store your chargers and cables.

logo

Nice, Inc. was founded in 2011 “to bring premium products to market that delight, inspire, and build on our foundation of empowering our local community, reducing environmental impact, and sharing our success.” So far, the only product they offer are these ingenious CableKeeps, but I can’t wait to see what else they come up with to “inspire and delight” me, because I think they are destined for great things! My favorite part of their company is they are a husband-wife team, and their product tester is their 10-year old son who “has a knack for finding weakness.” If I’ve learned anything from having kids, it’s that they really are the best product testers, and they will surely be honest with you!

products

CableKeeps are cute, sea-life shaped creatures that are meant to–you guessed it!–keep your cables organized! They are made from a non-toxic, recycled (and recyclable) hard plastic-type of material. They have designed several shapes to fit the various types of adaptors for your iDevices, but the general principle is this: the charger portion of your adaptor slides into the mouth of the sea creature and the cord wraps around its tail. This keeps everything nicely bundled and safe wherever you need to store it.

Nibbles

I tried out “Nibbles” for my iPad charger and loved it. The material is hard yet pliable, so I’m not worried about it breaking or stretching out of shape. The charger fits snugly in the creature’s mouth so it won’t fall out, but it’s easy enough to remove when I need to. I really like the small indentation in the fish’s fin that lets the dock connector get nicely tucked away and kept in place. “Nibbles” keeps my adaptor nicely organized and held together so I can find it when I need to and keep it all together when it’s in use.

holding

I think this concept is great. I personally don’t have to carry around multiple chargers throughout my day, but I imagine there are tons of people out there who have iPhone, iPod and iPad adaptors floating around in their purse or briefcase and are often frustrated when trying to find each cord to charge their products. Having the cables wrapped around a specific CableKeep would help solve that problem. I can also see these being very nice (pun intended) when traveling. There’s always a mess of cords and cables in my luggage and I’m always worried a cable will fall out and get left behind…but not if it was attached to “Nibbles.” I would easily spot a bright green piranha on the hotel floor and never lose a cable while traveling again!

prize

Nice CableKeeps come in six different colors of each design. There are two different designs for the iPad adaptor (“Nibbles” for your standard adaptor and “Gulp” for standard and international), and three different designs for the iPhone adaptor (“Goldie” for iPhone or iPad Mini, “Ink” for iPhone UK, and “Spike” for iPhone EU). Individually, each CableKeep is $16.00, but you can buy bundles of five of the same product (“Gulp,” “Nibbles,” or “Goldie”) for $60. And now, when you use the code NICEBUNDLE, you can buy a mixed multi-pack of CableKeeps with any five CableKeeps. And, lucky for you, you can enter to win “Gulp” for your iPad and “Goldie” for your iPhone!

Enter to win a set of TWO CableKeeps!

Every once in a while an invention comes along that is so brilliant that we all scratch our heads and wonder, “Now, why didn’t I think of that?!?” This pacifier from RazBaby that shuts when it falls to the ground is one, this PaintZoom is another, and this ArmPocket Armband for running is one of many, many amazing products that come out every day that make our lives so much easier (lucky for you, a giveaway for ArmPocket is coming later this year!). And today’s giveaway is no exception!

Whooz? Vinyl Labels for iDevices was designed to solve the problem of lost, stolen or “borrowed” cords and cables for iDevices. Have you ever tried to find your charger for your iPhone or iPad in a  messy sea of cables, cords, chargers and earbuds? This is our “technology drawer” in our desk and it’s a pretty frightening place. And if we’re looking for a specific cable in a hurry, forget about it!

drawer

Whooz? Vinyl Labels solves that problem by personalizing your cords and color coordinating them so they’re easily identifiable, no matter where they are. I was sent a set of vinyl labels for the iPad and iPod/iPhone. Each pack of labels comes with four designs: Isaac, Cat Lady, Jeff and Britney for the iPad; and Rico, Cindy, Charlene and Dexter for the iPhone/iPod. (They also sell sets of plain colors, but I think the characters are much more fun!) So not only do you get your choice of which awesome person you’d like to deck out your gear in, but if you are a family of iPhone/iPod/iPad users, you can all have your own rad set of stickers!

all

I used the Britney labels for my iPad cords and accessories. Each character has a description and I love Britney’s the best: “She carries a notebook full of her ‘work’ and calls herself a hiphop artist. Britney can throw down a good beat, but we’re still waiting to hear an actual song.” Ha! I love that this company doesn’t take itself seriously 🙂 Here’s what Britney looks like when assembled.

Britney

I love the tongue that sticks out at you! The labels come with clear instructions and were really easy to put on. I had a little trouble getting the earbuds covers to flatten, but other than that everything worked great. The vinyl is good quality and shouldn’t rub or peel off easily. I love the way they look; I will NEVER have a hard time finding my charger cords or earbuds in a sea of cables again!

labels

Whether you need these labels to keep your whole family’s device cables straight or you just want to add a little personality to your cables, these labels are definitely worth the low price tag! Whooz? Labels can be purchased online at WhoozIzIt.com and a set of four is just $12.95. They also sell a Global cable set for those of you overseas for the same price, and if you’re a Macbook user, you’re in luck: they are designing a set of labels for Macbooks which will launch January 2014. Connect with them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Pinterest to hear about the latest news, deals and shenanigans!

One winner will get a set of Whooz? iPhone/iPod Labels AND a set of iPad Labels!

**Because I was sent the winner’s prize items along with my review items, the winner will be responsible for paying shipping from me to you, via PayPal invoice.  The labels are light and shouldn’t be more than a few dollars.**

** This giveaway is open to U.S. entries only.

First, I feel like I have to take a moment and acknowledge that today is an historic day. It’s hard to believe that 9/11/01 happened 12 years ago. I wasn’t directly affected by the events, but as Americans we were all affected, so I feel like I need to give the day its proper respect. My thoughts and prayers go out to those whose lives were taken and who lost family and friends on that tragic day.

Today is also fellow Dandy contributor Camille’s birthday, so it can be a happy day, too! Happy Birthday, Camille! And now, on to the giveaway!

JAYS_Text_Black_copyright

JAYS is a Swedish company that specializes in making the best sounding, most innovative headphones around. Their goal is to “greatly [enhance] the experience of mobile music” and they do so by constantly striving to be better. Their headphones have won numerous awards and have high ratings in various consumer reviews. They make six different types of headphones–t-JAYS, a-JAYS, d-JAYS, q-JAYS, v-JAYS, and c-JAYS–and each serves its own specific purpose and has several improved versions. The c-JAYS and v-JAYS are your typical “head” phones, with a band that goes over the top of the head, and the other JAYS are all earphones, with a thin cable connecting the ear pieces.

products

I was sent a pair of a-JAYS Four and t-JAYS Three. Both were an excellent pair of headphones for several reasons. First, I’ll talk about the a-JAYS. This may be nerdy of me, but I love the way they were packaged. Everything has its place and is labeled neatly and packaged flat and securely in the small, sleek box. They have included 5 different sizes–XXS up to Large–of sleeves to cover the earphone for those who have smaller or larger ear canals. To include an extra pair is nice, but four extra pairs is downright brilliant! The Medium pair that came on the headphones didn’t fit me quite right, but once I switched to the Small sleeves, the fit was much better (though changing them was quite a difficult process). The a-JAYS feature flat, tangle-free cords which is wonderful since my least favorite thing to do before a run is to untangle my headphone cords! Speaking of running, these aren’t the best pic for running or any athletic activity because I don’t feel that they stay in quite as well as others, but they are the best pick if you plan on talking on the phone or listening to music. The a-JAYS feature a 360-degree microphone to pick up your voice in any situation. The remote allows you to skip, rewind and pause songs, and to make and take calls with just a few touches of a button. Super handy.

t-JAYS

The t-JAYS Three also came with 5 sets of earphone sleeves in a range of sizes. My favorite thing about the t-JAYS is the fit. They slid into my ears and lay flat against my skin, never once wiggling around. The cord is also super short to start out (an extension cord is included) which makes it the PERFECT length from my arm (where they are plugged into my phone and in an exercise band around my arm) to my ears. I never ONCE got tangled up in cords while I was running, which is a HUGE pet-peeve of mine. The worst part of sprinting is knowing that eventually my elbow will catch the cord and rip it right out of my ear, thus ripping my inspirational song away and leaving me to finish my sprint with the tune in my head. Not so with the t-JAYS! The sound is superb in both pairs of headphones and they are definitely a brand I would recommend.

JAYS can be purchased online and are $79.99 for the a-JAYS Four and $99.99 for the t-JAYS Three. And be sure to connect with JAYS on Twitter and Facebook to be in-the-know on the latest JAYS news!

TWO lucky winners will receive their choice of the t-JAYS OR the a-JAYS Headphones!

(first choice goes to the first winner)

Duck Duck Moose Educational Apps {GIVEAWAY} — CLOSED

At my house, we have a little thing we like to call “Quiet Time.” Since my 3-year old no longer naps, we have Quiet Time when my daughter is napping and Mommy needs a break. Quiet Time used to involve my son, “Ralph,” watching (the same) movie every day, but ever since my brother and sister-in-law so graciously gave us an iPad for Christmas, Quiet Time has turned into iPad Time. My brother and sister-in-law are Apple Genuises (really!) and gave us the iPad pre-loaded with all sorts of cool books and educational apps for kids. There are a few that are pretty annoying that I wish he’d never found, but some of my favorites come from a company called Duck Duck Moose.

DDMlogo copy

Duck Duck Moose was started in 2008 by three friends who were having a hard time  finding educational apps for their own children. Since then, they’ve created 16 apps that teach kids skills like reading, math, music and creativity. All 16 apps are available for iPad, iPod Touch and iPhone, and two are available for Android (with more to come in the future). In addition to their educational apps, they also have two music albums, Favorite Spanish Songs by Jose-Luis Orozco, and Duck Duck Music, which can both be purchased on iTunes. Duck Duck Music is a collection of favorite kid songs like “Bingo,” “Yankee Doodle,” Old MacDonald,” and my favorite, “Down By the Bay.” The singer’s voice is lovely and the arrangements are such that they have made songs that are usually annoying become fun and sing-along-able. It’s definitely a favorite at our house!

Duck_CD

But back to their apps. We have Wheels on the Bus, and we were sent codes for Musical Me and More Trucks, all for the iPad (HD versions).  Wheels on the Bus is more of an interactive book than a game-type app. It takes you through the song verse by verse and you can click on things like the wipers, the door, the horn, etc., and they make their respective sound/action. The “Wheels on the Bus” song plays in the background while you are in the app, and the coolest part is you can change the song to play in Spanish, Italian, German, a few different instruments (including the kazoo!), OR you can record yourself singing and play that in the background instead!

Duck_Wheels

Musical Me is an app that  teaches rhythm, pitch, instruments and notes. There are different activities you can do and they are all set to classic children’s songs. You can change songs for each activity and the instructions are fairly easy to follow. However, my three-year old son, who is fairly musically inclined, had a hard time staying interested in the app. I’m not sure if it was a little too advanced for him or just not his thing, but it does say it is recommended for ages 3 and up, so take that as you will.

MM6

If I couldn’t get “Ralph” to get into Musical Me, I couldn’t get him to STOP playing More Trucks! This app is totally his thing. You can watch my video review of it below, or, just know that if you have a two- or three-year old boy and you want something to keep him busy for at least 30 minutes, THIS is the app to get him!

What I love most about Duck Duck Moose’s apps is that they are all colorful with cute illustrations, easy-to-follow instructions, and they teach usable things. I figure if my son is going to spend time playing a game on the iPad, I’d rather him learn something while he’s at it, and he’s bound to with any Duck Duck Moose app. You can check out the rest of their apps on their website or the iTunes store, where they are all $1.99 each (expect Wheels on the Bus, which is $0.99). The Itsy Bitsy Spider and Wheels on the Bus apps are available for Android, also for only $1.99. If you can’t make up your mind on which apps to buy, you can see some clips of each app on their YouTube page.

Enter to win TWO apps of your choice for your Apple or Android device!

I’m not the type to run out and buy the newest item the weekend it comes out – I like to research, read reviews, and find items on sale or (even better) on clearance.  I love the thrill of getting a good deal and feeling like I got a quality product for the best price possible.

Then the Kindle Fire came out.

I don’t know what happened, but I wanted the Kindle Fire under my Christmas tree last year more than anything else.  I loved the idea of reading books, playing games, watching movies, playing on the internet, and checking my e-mail.  But, as a bonus, I wanted to have something to stick in my purse and have ready to keep my boys quiet as needed.

Yes, really.

Well, my practical side won out, and I waited until my birthday in April to get my Kindle Fire (for an amazing deal, I’ll have you know).  When it came, I immediately started playing with it and loved everything about it.  My boys love it, and my husband loves it.  Taking it in my purse as it was, though, wasn’t a very good idea as it stood — I needed a case to make sure that it would stay intact.

The Snugg sent me an amazing case to try for my Kindle Fire, and I love it!  It’s not a large case, so it can easily fit in my purse without feeling bulky or taking up too much room.  It has a great stand on the back so I can watch Downton Abbey from my nightstand while everyone else in the house sleeps.  Yes, really.

The Snugg also has other innovative cases for your iPad

your tablet

your iPhone

and your iPod Nano

Head on over to The Snugg and take a look around to find something to add to your holiday shopping list — you’ll be happy with anything they have!
