It used to be pink…

I acquired this bench from one of the guest rooms at my Nana’s lake home:

Yep.  That’s a pink cushion.

And you all know how I feel about pink…

Here’s how the acquisition came to be:

We went down to the house on Lake of the Ozarks back in November to do the leaves.

(Me my baby brother with our mad leaf blowing skills)

I decided to bring the bench home.  We put it in our entryway and there it sat.  Pink and all.  A holiday party (in my home) came and went.  Christmas came and went.  New Year’s came and went.  All the while the bench maintained its glorious pink hue.  Obviously I wasn’t in that big of a hurry to get rid of the pink.  That or I’m just lazy.  We’ll go with not in that big of a hurry, okay?  Well, today the bench changed its clothes!  My parents came to spend the holiday weekend with us and my mom recovered ‘ole pinky with some really dandy fabric that I actually found today.

480385_10151258118510894_1535183106_n Yep.  I love it.

Isn’t my mom the best?  Yep.  I love her!

Total cost:  $11.19

Oh and the new fabric even has a bit of pink in it *wink*

Craft Cuts {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Oh what’s in a name!  I already know I might sound a little crazy when I tell you that I constantly stew over what to name my future children.  Half the time when I can’t sleep, I play around with middle names in my head till I fall asleep.  I think a name is so important, and the first gift you can give your child!  I want it to be something I will love saying a million times, and something THEY will love hearing a million times.  Once its official, I am a sucker for any opportunity to display that name anywhere and everywhere, and Craft Cuts is one of the classiest places to do just that!

What is so incredible about this store is their ability to cut out wood lettering in practically any font your heart desires.  From cutesy curly girly fonts, to strong statement letters, you can design just the look you want for your room or bedroom.

Classy block letters for the family room!

I LOVE these letters on ribbons!  Adorable for a bedroom above a crib, or also quaint for living room décor above a couch.

And a personal favorite, wood wall letter tiles!!

What a treasure trove of supplies for artsy people looking to personalize their home!  Anyone with a creative bone in their body will have a ball perusing this shop, but if you don’t consider yourself very artsy-fartsy, Craft Cuts can certainly do all this leg work for you!  You can purchase any name already hand-painted, pre-stained, and tied with ribbon if you desire!  They really allow you to be completely creative with their blank letters, but they also can take care of you if anything in the crafty department makes you nervous, and you’d rather have it professionally done for you.

We had the huge honor of picking out some letters for our home.  I decided I wanted to make a sign of our last name to have on display in our home for as long as we live.  Though Craft Cuts can definitely design your name on a board for you (as seen here with their lettering on a base), we wanted to put it together ourselves, so I just ordered the letters individually and unpainted.  As soon as my letters arrived, I was DYING to put them together!

Here is the hubby marking things just right before we drilled them into the board to keep them steady.

I turned on a little Dancing with the Stars and painted them up with basic tempera paint and a polyurethane gloss.  Easy peasy.

I am SO SATISFIED and thrilled about the way it turned out!  Classic, professional, and something that will always be on display.

Now I just need some holiday company over to see our majestic addition to our home décor!

Craft Cuts has quite an extensive selection of so many more products besides wood lettering.  Check out their craft kits, home decor, vinyl wall lettering, and stencils!

Get ready to get your crafty face on because one winner will receive a $30 giftcard to Craft Cuts!

{Giveaway} Scentsy with Erica Powers ***ENDED***

Have you thought of what to give your neighbors for the holidays this year?  Are you doing any baking to give them?  Frankly I just do not have the time to make candy and cookies this year.  I just have too much going on.  Plus, our neighbors are really nice grandparent type people, so they always give Banjo actual gifts that would be like what Santa would bring him!  You know… toys, books, etc.  They give us nice home decor type gifts, too!  So somehow I feel bad just giving them cookies anyway.  So we tend to add them to our holiday gift giving list and buy them something little that they can enjoy this time of year.  Do you want to know what we are giving to our next door and across the street neighbors this year for Christmas?  Well, I’m going to tell you, so I sure hope none of them read my blog!  I don’t even think they know that I’m a blogger, though.  So that’s a good thing!   🙂    This year we are giving our neighbors this plug-in burner and some holiday scents for it:

Fortunately for me Erica has got ’em!  There’s also a ton of other burners to fit just about every holiday!

See…  Burners from Scentsy make excellent holiday gifts!

Next there are tons and tons of different scents to choose from.  Believe me when I say that the scents are divine!  All you need is one little square and it will just fill the room with yumminess!

There’s nothing wrong with a little early preparation.  Especially this particular year around our household, because there’s a dandy little bundle of joy headed our way mid January.  Yep that’s an announcement!!!!  :)    Banjo is going to be a big brother!  So I don’t want to be fighting the crowds right before the holidays this time around.  Or any time around really.  I despise those crowds and will avoid them at all cost.  That’s where online shopping comes in.  And online shopping that’s a steal of a deal is my FAVORITE!  I simply cannot pass up a good deal.  In fact Mrs. Claus just ordered this way dandy My 1st Scooter from Radio Flyer at Joss & Main for Banjo:

LOVE this deal and this store!   Joss & Main has the deals going on right now, so don’t miss out on all the fabulous Radio Flyer items for your kiddo.  Go ahead.  Christmas shop in July.  It’s quite enjoyable let me tell you!  :)

{Guest Posting} Party Decorations!

Hello all, My name is Edith and you can usually find me blogging over at Edeenut Creates. My good friend Tara asked me to join her today on Dandy Giveaway and share a fun and simple decoration idea for any party.

While deciding how to decorate for a recent Valentine’s Day party, I saw these cool looking paper plate balls and thought they might be cool to make. The instructions are found here at Family Fun, so you can make your own if you desire.

My basic idea was to slip a string of white Christmas lights inside each ball and poke some light tips out through the holes illuminating in the dim party room.

The light idea was put aside after more consideration and so were the paper plate balls in fact. But I still really like the balls and this image makes them look so fun for a party. Even though I didn’t actually use the paper plate balls for decorations I thought I would still share how easy and inexpensive they are to make if you want to make your own.

While I was contemplating the whole pink paper plate ball idea, I tried to find some pink paper plates to use. The only ones I found were in packs of 10 and would have been pretty pricey because for each ball you need 20 plates. The pack of 10 plates were almost $2.00 each.

I bought a pack of 100 white paper plates and a can of pink spray paint. The paint was $3 and the plates were $1.50.

In my back yard, I made sure the wall was protected with paper and cardboard, then working with 20 plates at a time, I sprayed a thin coat of paint on each one. They were in direct sunlight and so they dried fast.

By the time I sprayed the last one I could go back and move the first one off the paper to dry completely on the wall. But by this point though they were pretty much dry. I just didn’t want them to stick together if stacked up.

When I was completely done with 60 plates I was out of paint. I think I could have done 40 more plates though if I would have not done two coats of paint on some plates. Because I was out in the bright direct sunlight my eyes didn’t quite see the color of pink on the plates as it really was so I added another coat thinking it needed it. But after going inside with the plates I could see the color would have been fine with one coat.

Here is one ball hanging up above my table. I used clear nylon thread to hand it so it looks as if it’s floating in mid air. Even though here you can see the ceiling fan chains hanging down.
Also, you can see the pink color indoors is really rich with two coats. But if you want a deep rich color you could always do as many coats of paint as you wanted.

This painting method also makes these polyhedrons easy for any party idea. You could paint them in any color you want to go with your theme. Blue, red and white for the 4th of July would be very fun. Green for Your St. Patties Day get together. Make them for a baby shower, or Birthday. The possibilities are endless.

Be on the look out…

For a viewing of some dandy wall art and decor  from CSN later this week!  Maybe a little of this…

Or alot of this…

But definitely a whole lot of modern!
