Indie Gift Box {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

What does “Indie” actually mean?  Part of the way you think?  Following your own mind?  Someone who shies away from labels and anything mainstream and commercial?  Whatever it means, this cute little Indie Gift Box is probably quite appropriately named because it is full of unique treasures and gifts that are anything but mainstream or commercial.  They are charming, one-of-a-kind, and totally cute/charming items from independent artists and small businesses.

300x300

This is a monthly box subscription, so every month, you can get a taste of new small businesses and a sampling of fun treasures.  You can choose if you’d like your subscription to be on-going, or simply a one-time spree, but keep in mind you will be getting $35-$80 worth of items for only $25.

I love seeing the work of passionate artisans vs. big name brands.  Even from the packaging, you get a sense of a personal touch of handmade thoughtfulness.  I was sent the January box which was called “Bright Beginnings”!  It was valued at over $60, and it was full of beautiful treasures!IMG_9349

Every month is themed so that you can look ahead and decide if the upcoming month is for you or not.  “Bright Beginnings” contained that Glamssence bracelet in the bottom right corner with “celebrate” on it (which I gave to my little sister for her 19th birthday last week), and the postcard on the far right from Inspired Cards.  I quickly used it to send a note to say hi to a friend!

mailMore favorites were this mineral makeup from Simplicity Cosmetics (a gorgeous blush!), and these really fun brilliant green earrings from Nazari Jewelry!  I wore them to the mall on date night.  They feel so cosmic and they go perfectly with my favorite thing in the box…

…a 2014 Stitch the Stars Calendar Kit from Heather Lins Home!  How charming/cool/creative/displayable and unique!  Every month has a new constellation and the thread is glow-in-the-dark :).  Totally right up my alley, and its actually only $9.99 right now.

starsIndie Gift Box was so dear to send me December’s box as well!  Above is a sampling from that “Miracle on 34th Street”, which contained handmade nailpolish from CoCoLacQuer, a darling Christmas card from Se La Vee, stunning crystal rock earrings from Words to Bead By, and this oval-shaped tinted lip balm that I’ve been using daily.  Mmm, it smells and feels fantastic.  Here is another sampling of what you could get:

Bottom line: I really love this box.  I haven’t come across anything quite so unique and full of such treasures that all make such excellent gifts.  I think sending a box to a friend for their birthday would really boost your placement on the ‘best friend list’.

Have you been woo’ed yet?  It looks like you can still get this month’s box which is titled “The Librarian”, and by the look of what it might contain, all I can think of is “must get this box!”  It’s promised to contain things along the lines of cat eye glasses, lace collars, vintage rings, and a cute little nose buried in books.  Oh!  Only 150 boxes have been made, so hurry hurry hurry!

Kelly’s Funky Kreations {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Before we had kids, I used to enjoy doing crafts and projects in my spare time. There’s something to knowing you put your blood, sweat and tears into something that makes it that much more meaningful to you. However, after I had kids (and especially because my first two were less than two years apart), I ran out of time and energy to do crafts. It’s a hobby I know I will get back into after my kids are a bit more grown and I have more time on my hands (so, in like, 20 years). But for now, I can just live vicariously through other crafty people who make crafting a priority!

Kelly’s Funky Kreations is an Etsy shop with a variety of homemade items and a ton of personality! Kelly is a mom of three boys from South Carolina who started making watches and jewelry because she needed a creative, “girly” outlet. Since she is from South Carolina, a lot of her designs are inspired by the State’s two big universities– Clemson and South Carolina. She makes Girl’s Hair Bows and Door Wreaths in both University’s colors. Her collection also includes hair bows, stethoscope covers, boy’s shirts, safety pin watches, earrings, bracelets and wreaths. Here are some of her fun designs:

I chose to review one of Kelly’s adorable Boy’s Tie T-Shirts.  She makes them in a Mustache Print (which I chose), an SC Gamecock print, two different Chevron prints, and a new Halloween print! The shirt is a standard T-shirt from Target but it is a thick material that is true to size (though it is 100% Cotton, so it will likely shrink). The Mustache fabric is a great print and she cut it expertly so the mustaches fit perfectly in the shape of the tie. She sewed the fabric on very securely and I am not worried at all about the design peeling off. Though it’s a simple design and concept, I can tell she put a lot of work and effort into making this shirt, and I’m sure that same work ethic is transferred to all of her creations.

The Tie T-Shirts are just $10.00, which is a totally great deal considering how cute and one-of-a-kind they are. Most designs can be made on a onesie for babies and a variety of T-shirt sizes for older boys. Her bows and earrings start at just $3.00 and her beautiful handmade wreaths are only $45.00, so all of her prices are very fair for the amount of work she’s putting into her designs. She’s always adding new designs, so be sure to connect with Kelly on Facebook and Pinterest, and of course to check out her Etsy page to see all of her Funky Kreations!

Something About Silver {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I love to follow blogs on Google Reader, and one friend posted a blog entry with a picture of her new necklace a couple of weeks ago.  It was a small charm of her husband’s first initial on a delicate chain – simple but meaningful, and I wanted one, too!

Something About Silver offers the exact type of necklace I was coveting, and I jumped at the chance to review one similar to my friend’s.  After a quick e-mail conversation about what I wanted, my perfect necklace was in the mail and on my doorstep just a couple of days later.  Extremely fast shipping, and amazing customer service!  I absolutely loved the packaging – it came in the most adorable box tied with ribbon, and the necklace was placed in a bag inside that box.  I put my necklace on immediately after receiving it in the mail and have worn it every day since.

stacking ring

I love the idea of a personalized ring, and I especially loved these Stacking Rings with names hand-stamped on each one individually.

circle

I also love the versatility of the Circle of Love Bracelet that could be used for either a mom or a grandmother.

I especially loved the choices for men — it can be tricky to find thoughtful, tear-inducing gifts for them!  This Dad Keychain could also work as a great Grandparents’ Day gift, or could be given to a brother or new father.
