Apostolic Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Do you ever feel like all the cute dresses are super short and/or show a lot of skin?  Unfortunately, I do – and while I adore dressing up, I’m just not comfortable showing that much skin.  (I’m no spring chicken over here). To make matters worse so much of the clothing marketed as “modest” looks like someone shot the couch. *cringe* *shutter*   But really, if you want a skirt that covers your knees and a dress that has sleeves and no major (reveling) cutout, your options are pretty limited and generally pretty bland. (Thank goodness for maxi dresses right?).

Anyway I came across an ad for Apostolic Clothing and I was sucked in like sand and a shop vacuum.  There is such a thing as stylish modern clothing that also doesn’t make me look like an 80 year old grandma???

Apostolic Clothing is amazing!  All of their clothes will keep you covered but for once you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of style to wear a dress. (They even have a bunch of stylish plus size clothing!) and cute vintage looks to boot. Here is a little preview of what I’m talking about:

I couldn’t wait to work with Apostolic Clothing, and I was so excited about the review I literately had their site up for two days while I was narrowing down my options for a review item.  Toward the end when I had my list narrowed down to four options I finally had to have my husband wight in. Ha!

I’ve seen these tulle skirts around and I think they are dreamy. I was thrilled at the chance to review one, and the opportunity to channel my inner ballerina.

The skirt has six layers, one very wide tulle layers, four more narrow tulle layers and one satin like layer that reaches just below your knees on the very inside of the skirt so the whole thing isn’t see through. The top of the skirt has the tulle folded over an elastic band.

One thing to note is the skirt is a one side fits all, which always makes me a little concerned.  I thought it seemed a bit tight when I first pulled it on, but I didn’t notice it being uncomfortable or pressing while I was wearing it.  The skirt is also really full (which I love) but the fluff also created kind of a faux muffin top because it puffed out so dramatically at your waist.  Some of the girls in the pictures had a shirt tucked into the top of the skirt and it looked really cute on them but I found having a dressy shirt that would cover the very top of the skirt worked a lot better for me.

The sweeping folds of fabric were a lot of fun and the whole skirt kind of blows softly around you while you walk. The skirt comes in a handful of colors (black, maroon, cream, pink) and is a perfect transition piece for fall because it’s so light weight but it reaches a little lower on your legs and still has some substance to it.

In short it’s a fantastic skirt.  My inner ballerina is thrilled to be wearing it and it makes me feel really dressed up while still being comfortable.

If you’re looking for some fashionable but conservative clothing or if you just love vintage fashion you’ve got to check out Apostolic Clothing!

Spring has FINALLY sprung!

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I don’t know about where you are, but here in St. Louis the sun is shining.  The flowers are blooming.  The grass is turning a brilliant shade of green.  Yep.  It simply glorious outside.  The spring has finally sprung around here!  I knew this day was coming eventually, but I also knew that the weather wouldn’t just suddenly change over night.  Especially not after what we dealt with for what seemed like eternity.  We had the LONGEST winter ever here!  I’m sure this sentiment resonates with the rest of the country; except of course for places like Florida and California.  Most of the country is highly envious of those types of places.  I’m talking the raging, green-eyed monster.  For St. Louis at least there have been signs of the coming days of honeysuckle and lilacs for quite some time now.  Albeit very slowly, but it has been warming up and the forecast hasn’t been predicting any of those crazy snow storms.  In fact the recent thunderstorms and even tornadoes (scary as those are) in the St. Louis area led me to believe that spring really was on its way.  Yes, I believe it’s FINALLY here!

With the spring weather also comes the need for some spring fashion.  That very need actually sent me to the mall last week, but I returned home with much disappointment.  I only made one measly little purchase.  A somewhat (long sleeved; mind you) spring blouse that definitely won’t carry me into summer.  All of the stores must not have been catching on to the hints of spring, because they only had winter clothing in stock.  Heavy sweaters galore, but nothing for spring.  It’s possibly that they are now stocked for spring this week, but I was at the mall LAST week.  I don’t have time THIS week to go back.

In my desperation to have something that I could fit in (remember I just had a baby 9 weeks ago) for this warmer weather I turned to my old standby.  Online shopping.  I will admit that typically I’m a little hesitant with clothes shopping online.  It’s difficult to often know the sizing or how the item will fit.  Generally I’ll only shop online at stores that I’m familiar with already.  Or ones that my friends have recommended.  So it took A LOT of bravery on my part to place an order on a deal site.  But after this purchase:

photo-90I will be purchasing a lot more off of that deal site!

I’m absolutely in love with this top.  I found it on the Jane deal site for only $19.99!  Isn’t that a steal of a deal?  I’m talking waaaaayyyy dandy.  It has these faux buttons up the back.  Seriously going to be my favorite all spring and summer long!

Jane features boutique clothing items for up to 80% off.  Each deal only lasts a matter of days or until they sell out.  So some of the more popular deals are only be around for a few hours!  Like these two deals:

Screen Shot 2014-04-09 at 2.06.55 PM

GONE.  Totally gone.  I shouldn’t have waited so long to make my decision.

Good thing they still have plenty of these cute maxi skirts!

Now… What did you see at Jane that you’ve gotta have?

Endure Shop {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Now that it’s finally February, we can accept the fact that Valentine’s Day is almost here. When the pink hearts start popping up all over WalMart the day after Christmas, I get a little cranky. But, like it or not, the big V-Day will be here in a week from tomorrow! What’s the first thing you think of when you think of Valentine’s Day? Love? Hearts? Jewelry? Chocolate? Well, send your hubby on over to the Endure Jewelry Company, where you can find all of those things (minus the chocolate)!

I’ve already told you how cool Endure Shop is, especially if you’re a runner. They sell beautifully crafted jewelry to represent and celebrate your running accomplishments, or to motivate you to reach your goals. Remember how I said you can find love, hearts and jewelry all in their shop? Check out this beautiful “Live Love Run” necklace and you’ll see I wasn’t kidding! Wouldn’t this be fabulous a fabulous Valentine’s Day gift for the runner in your life?

I have a strange attraction/addiction to workout clothes, so I of course chose to review an item from the Apparel collection. Since I live in (almost) perpetually sunny California, I chose the Run Tank. I love the fabric–super light-weight without being cheap and thin–and of course the cute word “Run” with a heart and the Endure logo on the front.

I ordered the Large because I’m currently 3 months pregnant with my third and figured I’d need the extra room. The tank fits snugly but not uncomfortably, so once I lose the baby weight it will be loose, but not ridiculously huge. I like that the fit is semi-fitted and truly hides the muffin-top, as they claim. The back is racer-back style and the Endure definition is right in the middle of that intersection, which I think looks really cool. My favorite part is the little roadrunner hanging out on the back of my hip–so cute!

Please forgive my Vampire tan.

The tank also comes in white, but I thought the black with white lettering looked so much cooler. Now I just need to buy a few more colored bottoms so I don’t look like a stage hand or a gothic when I work out in all black 😉 The tank is $32, but if you’re lucky, you can win a $30 Gift Card to Endure Shop and snag this cute top for only $2! Or use the credit toward a really beautiful piece of jewelry for someone…and that someone can be you!

Win a $30 Gift Card to Endure Shop!

** This giveaway is open to U.S. entries only.

** The winner of this giveaway will be drawn no later than the morning of February 17, 2014, and will be emailed within 24 hours.  If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

ModBod {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I try to look by best at church every Sunday, I really do, but more often than not, I’m diving for toys thrown under pews, chasing babies down the hall, and wrestling toddlers to the ground (ok, not really), but I’m left pulling my skirt back down, tucking shirts back in, pulling sweaters back over, etc.  I keep thinking I have got to get more durable (but still flattering) pieces in my wardrobe that help my ensemble feel a little more modest while I’m trying to look “put together”, without wearing a maxi skirt and a turtleneck every week.

logo_modbod banners3

If you’ve ever found yourself in my situation, you’re going to love today’s review!  Modbod is a fabulous clothing store full of basics like cap sleeve shirts, camis, crop tops, demi caps, quarter sleeves, etc.  Basically, if you’re looking for a little more coverage or more layering options, this is your one-stop shop.

1485 12531750

Beyond the basics, they have signature tops

159 157 164

…and a fashion collection of the most wonderful clothes!  Everything modest, and everything cute.  I had the huge pleasure of picking out a few items to showcase.

I got to review the Red Jeggings, Lace Front Cami in Charcoal, Demi Cami in White,  and a Red Striped Cardigan that is currently on sale for $4.99!

18001515    14891568

I love everything!!  Why don’t I just show you:

sweaterThis cardigan is soft, warm, and well-made.  I like that the sleeves are extra long and that the faux pockets on the sides don’t add extra bulk at the hips.  I think this is a great color for Fall/Winter!

leafThe demi cami is awesome.  In an outfit like this, I don’t at all need the cami to cover my entire torso.  In fact, it would only be a huge bother to try and keep it smooth underneath the dress, and only add another layer of padding to my waist.  The cami is enough for coverage and it scoops low enough in the arm pits that I don’t feel chaffing or even notice I’m wearing another layer at all.

pantsLastly, my two favorites are these red jeggings and gray lace front cami!  The red is so fun and bright!!  These pants are extremely comfortable, a perfect fit (true to size), and the color doesn’t bleed or fade after a washing.  I love not having to worry about red dye transfer.  The gray cami is the dreamiest thing!  Its thickness is spot on for coverage and comfort.  Lace is definitely the style of the season, and this color is beautiful.  Thank you, thank you, Modbod, for creating a lace cami that doesn’t scoop too low or creep too high.  I probably wear this atleast once a week nowadays!

Modbod, I love your clothes!

Welcome to the Santa’s Little Helper Giveaway Hop, hosted by Viva Veltoro and So Easy Being Green!

We all know that everyone could use a little help around the Holidays, so for this Event I’ve teamed up with over 90 other bloggers to be your Santa’s Little Helper… giving away prizes that anyone would want to see under the tree! You might find the perfect gift for a little one on your list – or even for yourself, so hop around to all the blogs, including the GRAND PRIZE, on the linky at the bottom of this post!

Happy Holidays!

So ladies, have you ever woken up the morning of a big Christmas holiday party and thought, “I know!  I’ll wear that dress that is so unflattering, but I love the color”, or “That dress that is a little too short, but has the perfect sleeves, will be perfect”, or “If only that little black dress was taken out a little more and had pockets, it would be my dream dress”.  Speaking from a seamstress perspective, I know how some of you live, having to incessantly be taking things to be tailored or giving things away because they are just not-quite flattering.  Have you ever wished you had your personal tailor who could make you your dream dress exactly to your measurements, and then customize things like the dress length, type of sleeves, pockets, and other details?
Ladies, your personal tailor and seamstress: eShakti.
I haven’t enough words to tell you how much I love this place.  You can literally customize any of their skirts, dresses, or tops to your exact measurements, and then take it a step further and customize the sleeves, the hem length, the embroidered details, the pockets, etc.  A personal seamstress could not do this faster or cheaper, mark my words.
I LOVE working with eShakti!  Everything I order is delivered in a timely fashion (which is remarkable knowing that these are made overseas).  See the last two dresses I ordered from them:
Their styles are darling, flattering, and there are dozens and dozens of dresses and colors to choose from.  Yap, yap, yap, let’s let the dress do the talking.  I was ready to go a little festive and be a little daring, so I went with this Beaded Crepe Knit Sheath Dress in Emerald.  Love it!
So to be honest, there a lot of things I love about this dress, and I few things I would change.  The beadwork: love it.  Gorgeous, secure, detailed, high quality beads.  The draping: love it, but I do wish the pleats had been sewn down a little further up the sides.  I really think my bustiness created an odd pattern ratio, which causes the pleats to gape open.  It makes me look a little more chesty than I already am, but I do like the added dimension of more texture and fabric up top.

This dress also features a keyhole back with rouleau-button closure.  eShakti was nice enough to send along an extra button as well as a bag of beads to replace them down the road if needs be.
I think a belt does a great job at bringing this all together, and the beadwork makes accessorizing with gold or silver jewelry so easy!  Go glam!

There are hundreds of possibilities at eShakti.  You’re bound to find dozens of styles you love and would love to further customize.

Baby-Kini {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Wait, why are we advertising swimwear in November?!  Don’t tell me not one of you is going on a cruise or atleast flying to someplace warm during the holiday break!  I’m jealous of all of you!!  But really, have a blast.  And pack your cutest swimsuits.  Does your baby girl have one?  You’re probably not packing yet, but have you thought about swimwear for her?  Think about all the pictures you’ll be taking!  Good luck finding a toddler size swimsuit in any local store this month, let alone a cute one.  You’re gonna have to start looking online, and might I save you some time and trouble and direct you straight to Babi-Kini!?

Babi-Kini is a custom couture children’s swim wear boutique with some of the most darling suits I’ve ever seen!  I love all of these!!  I really love that they aren’t the typical baby pink with ruffles or something smothered in Disney princesses.  These have so much personality in them!

Hula-Honey_bikini_large 375_ZEB_onepiece_Large Lola_one-piece_large Racer_bikini_large

I was sent the Charm School One-Piece to review, and I can’t get over the cuteness!  Since its a bit nippy over here in Boston, and there ain’t no way we’re having a play date at the beach anytime soon, we made a little pretend beach at home 🙂

IMG_8486All of the Baby-kini products contain a blend of top quality swimwear fabrics and trims, and are manufactured in San Diego, California.  Given the 30+ hours I spent on sewing up swimsuits myself this last summer, I can attest to the quality of this suit.  Strong knits, excellent stitching, no imperfections.

IMG_8488Oh this tie in the back!  Darling, and just the perfect way to make this suit adjustable for growing bodies.  By the way, sizes range from XS (birth-6 mon) to XL (4-6yrs).  These little rosettes on the front?  Stop it.

IMG_8490Baby-kini has been seen on Kourtney Kardashian’s daughter, Penelope!

Wantable Accessories Box {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

My husband and I reeeally have a hard time choosing gifts for eachother.  We kind of know exactly what we want, but we still want to be surprised, so the weeks preceding the holiday turn into a frustrating charade of trying to drop hints when we’d really just like to click “purchase with gift wrap”.  It is 10x easier to just buy our own gifts and still act surprised, but where’s the fun in that?
All the excitement of dropping hints and clues as to what I want for Christmas was wrapped up in my shopping experience on Wantable.  Wantable is an online subscription box where you answer questions about what you like and love, then an in-house specialist handpicks the items for your box.  You answer questions like this:
I spent maybe 10 min answering questions about my style and jewelry specifics, and when it was over, thought, “That was so much fun!!”
How true that everyone has very specific style preferences, we still want to be surprised.   I was able to indicate on more than a dozen pages just what I like and don’t.
I ended up with preferences like “classic”, “glam”, “mix ‘n match”, “watches”, “rings”, “necklaces” etc. and here’s what I opened!
Opening my box was like Christmas morning!  I was giddy as ever.
The first thing I pulled out was this gorgeous Bora watch!  I love it I love I love it!  I decided that if I received nothing else but this watch, I’d be a happy girl.  It is gorgeous!
 IMG_8264 IMG_8260
Next up, this cute and classic bow ring.  I pulled this out and thought, “This one piece of jewelry might summarize my style entirely”.  Wantable couldn’t have been more spot on.
Ok, the last item kind of threw me.  I pulled out this gorgeous (and very brave) glitzy glam necklace and thought, “Iiiiiii don’t know” :).  However.  I gave it a shot, wore it to church with a bright and black outfit, and you guys, I got so many compliments on it!  Things like, “OH that necklace!” and “You look so regal today!”  I didn’t know if it was really my style, but I’m so happy with it.
That’s what Wantable is all about!  Favorites alongside pieces that you wouldn’t pick out yourself, but could potentially be the next favorite item in your jewelry box.  I am SOOO in love with Wantable and even more excited to show you next month’s box!!!
Check out Wantable and follow along:

The art & design behind fashionable sunglasses today and why they are so popular

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

The art & design behind fashionable sunglasses today and why they are so popular

When discussing what makes a pair of sunglasses great, we have to begin at the source: the brand that creates them. Heritage is often important, although not mandatory: some sunglasses brands come with a lot of history, while others are just being born from great ideas. What matters is all the work that goes into creating the perfect pair of sunglasses, which includes manufacture, materials, design and promotion. Visit All Brands Glasses to see more exciting brands and styles.

Prada is the first name that comes to mind when thinking of success in fashion. Founded in 1913 as a leathergoods label, Prada came to where it is today in the hands of designer Miuccia Prada, who took over in 1978 and launched the first ready-to-wear line in 1989. Their sunglasses line means one iconic model after the other, as all the collections they’ve launched in recent years have become popular worldwide. An example is the Dixie frame from 2012, which was inspired by vintage cars and Hollywood heroines. You can actually see and feel the inspiration in the frame, with the aerodynamic shape, bold colors and retro design. The sunglasses have since been sported by many celebrities and fashion bloggers (e.g. Katy Perry, Rihanna etc.), only to prove their popularity. Moreover, the ad campaign is filled with optimism and sunlight, making it even more attractive to potential customers.

Another excellent example is Karen Walker. The New Zealand based designer started out in the early 90s, with a budget of only NZ$100. While her clothing line can surely be considered a success, it’s her sunglasses that really leave a mark. Not only are the designs funky and eye-catching, just what the public is looking for these days, but the idea for the campaign was new and original. Walker took to a popular blogger, Ari Seth Cohen, to photograph the collection on “advanced” models. Women featured on his blog, Advanced Style, became sunglasses models, a take that caught on really well. Instead of making it all about the trendiest models of the moment, the focus was shifted on what really matters in this case: the sunglasses. The campaign also supports beauty in all of its shapes and ages, making it more approachable for women worldwide.

In conclusion, it’s never only about design. The product that you sell has to be truly great, and that’s a premise you should start from. Quality, design and marketing strategies all blend together in creating an iconic product that will last through the decades.

Very Jane {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Over the past year of blogging here on Dandy Giveaway, I’ve come across a number of new-to-me brands, products, and companies to introduce to our Dandy readers — and I’ve honestly been excited to feature them to you because I’ve liked what I’ve seen from them.  Let me be the first to tell you, though, that this website has quickly become my very favorite and that I’ve already ordered twice from them since I discovered Very Jane not even a month ago!!

Very Jane is like a daily deals site that offers boutique items from various shops at discounted prices with incredibly low shipping cost.  I say “like a daily deals site” because the items listed are usually posted for a couple of days as long as inventory remains in stock!  Every morning, there are between 7-10 new items featured on the site, and there are sneak peeks for those who follow Very Jane on Facebook — these sneak peeks, I’ve noticed, are incredibly important so you know how early to wake up (or how late to stay up?) to ensure that you can snatch up the product you want while it’s still in stock.

These items have included women’s and children’s clothing, hair accessories, organizational tools, scarves, jewelry, and even prints from Sprinkled Joy!  Here are a few of my favorites that you can find on there right now:

Must Have Scrunchy Pencil Skirts!

Personalized Weekly Menu Dry Erase Board with Marker!  (How convenient that it just happens to have “The Johnson Family” written right on it so I can see what it would look like in my own home!)

Trendy Chevron Crossbody Purse!

Multi-Shape Hand Stamped Necklace!

I received this Anthropologie Inspired Sevilla Scarf in mint (no longer available) from White Plum Boutique, and I kid you not that it was in my hands within five days of ordering it.  I also ordered another infinity scarf a couple of days later and had the same outcome — great product, incredibly reasonable price, quick shipping!

I feel a little bit like a walking advertisement for Very Jane since I’ve been telling all of my friends all about it since I came across it!  I can honestly say that I’ve been 100% satisfied with my experiences with Very Jane, and I love that I’ve found a new site that features products from classy shops and boutiques at an amazing price and especially with shipping that’s so low (sometimes lower than paying tax in store!) and lightning fast.  Head on over to Very Jane so you can fall in love with the site as much as I have, then plan to follow them so you can score your favorite deals!
