Kranich’s Black Cultured Pearl Bracelet {Review}

Disclosure: I got this product as part of an advertorial.

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but pearls are a classy girl’s true love.  Honestly, to me, a strand of pearls screams high-class, timeless, and gorgeous!  When I was in elementary school, I once had a pearl necklace that I wore around my neck for probably a solid year.  Even with t-shirts.  I might do it again with this gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous Black Cultured Pearl Bracelet from Kranich’s!

Kranich is well-known for their unbelievably beautiful and intricate pieces of jewelry.  They carry stunning bracelets, earrings, necklaces, and watches and almost 3,000 of the most beautiful diamond rings I’ve ever seen!  Just spend a few minutes gazing on all their dazzling jewelry and find the next item to put on your wish list.  Valentine’s Day, anyone?

I felt like royalty opening up this box.  The first thing I noticed was how much color is in these pearls.  The colors are sure beautiful!  As you can see, the pearls are not black at all, like the description would suggest, but rather peacock purples and blues.
The pearls felt a little twisted, or rather, the strand looked a little warped, probably from being twisted small inside the travel box, but I’m sure that with time, it will relax and straighten itself out completely.  The bracelet measures 7″, which sits beautifully on the average-sized wrist.  On my hand, it is loose enough to feel elegant and quite comfortable, without the possibility of it slipping off.
The clasp is made of 14kt yellow gold filagree, which would explain why this bracelet is sold for $141.90!  The clasp is VERY tiny and intricate, so with the way it attaches on the wrist, I can’t put it on myself, and it is a little too small for my husband’s big fingers to finagle.  Problem solved if you have a roommate or a little sister with little fingers to help you out!
Don’t it look gorgeous!?!  I want to wear it out to every classy event I ever attend!  Thank you, Kranich’s, for best piece of jewelry I own, next to my wedding ring!  Dandies, go pick out your next Valentine’s gift!

Oh, what sweet memories my husband and I have of picking out rings for eachother!  My husband and I had been dating for two weeks when we knew that we had found our match, and couldn’t wait to get engaged!  I was a complete wreck of bashful joy wearing my engagement ring at all times, and I couldn’t wait to give my husband his wedding band, so everyone else would know that he was taken too.  For the last 5 years, hubby’s ring has never left his finger, and has only gotten slightly more snug and we’ve become less and less worried about him ever losing it.  However, this summer, on a family vacation to Ohiopyle, PA, we tried out some natural waterslides that were (unbeknownst to us) dangerously high and strong for the season.  It only took one ride down the shoot for the cold rushing water to loosen “Charlie’s” white gold wedding band off his finger in toss it into the rapids.  Boo, I was so sad!  Sure, wedding rings can come and go, but there is something sentimental about the actual ring you were married with!

With this second chance to go ring shopping, and in hopes of finding something similar, but also meaningful, we weighed out the pros and cons of doing white gold again, and it didn’t take much to convince us that we wanted to try something much more sturdy and much less expensive this time.  When I looked at all the beautiful rings from Blue Steel and especially their prices, I was floored!  Why, pray tell, did we decide to go with a $600 wedding band five years ago, when there are dozens of dashing styles and colors in much more sturdy materials, and mostly for $99 or less?!  Can I please go back in time and do a re-do of that original purchase?  Check out these fancy things:

I wasn’t really looking for jewelry for myself, so I went straight to the mens rings and immediately picked out some favorites for my man:

Ultimately, we chose the Bolt Tungsten ring, a combination of matte and glossy finish, and it arrived on “Charlie’s” birthday!  We went out to dinner and I proposed in front of the restaurant:

“Charlie”, who never gives undeserved praise or compliments, was instantly wooed by the size, look, and feel of this ring!  He kept saying how much he really really liked it, and commenting on the nice weight it has.

This ring is everything we could wish for in a wedding band.  Both of us think it is very manly, slick, professional, unique-but-not-weird, and that its weight makes it feel substantial, indestructible, and made of fine workmanship.  It has a comfort-fit band, which makes it comfortable and practically unnoticeable, especially when you plan on wearing it 24/7.

After sporting a white gold ring for the first five years, and having to take it in multiple times to get it polished and have the scratches buffed out, we knew we wanted to give Tungsten a try.  Tungsten is a scratch-proof metal that is five times stronger than steel, so we’ll never have to worry about taking it in to the jeweler’s for maintenance!  I hope this ring never leaves his finger for as long as he lives!

Blue Steel carries much more than just wedding bands!  Check out these gorgeous earrings, bracelets, and pendants!
