Christmas Shopping in July???

There’s nothing wrong with a little early preparation.  Especially this particular year around our household, because there’s a dandy little bundle of joy headed our way mid January.  Yep that’s an announcement!!!!  :)    Banjo is going to be a big brother!  So I don’t want to be fighting the crowds right before the holidays this time around.  Or any time around really.  I despise those crowds and will avoid them at all cost.  That’s where online shopping comes in.  And online shopping that’s a steal of a deal is my FAVORITE!  I simply cannot pass up a good deal.  In fact Mrs. Claus just ordered this way dandy My 1st Scooter from Radio Flyer at Joss & Main for Banjo:

{Giveaway} Carousel Designs ***ENDED***

As many of you know Banjo is now 3, so he has been in his big boy bed for quite a while now.  Granted we did wait longer than most to put him in it.  He was a good 4 months past his second birthday when we finally made the switch.  He just didn’t show any interest in climbing out of his crib and was quite comfortable in it, but it was time.  Once we moved him to his toddler bed he didn’t realize that he could get out of it on his own.  That actually took him a few weeks to figure out and to this day he’s quite content just playing in his bed in the morning instead of getting out of him room!    A few months ago (okay it was way back in the fall) I bought some fabric to make a quilt for Banjo’s big boy bed.  The main theme was to revolve around this fabric:

It’s still only cut in just a couple of squares so far.  I really need to get working on it don’t you think?  See I get these great ideas and then I just have to allot the time to complete them.  Fortunately for me there’s Carousel Designs, because I’ll be able to order the matching lamp shade:

Carousel Designs has so many great selections of bedding perfect for toddlers, but they specialize in the crib variety.  The baby bedding company is run by Jonathan Hartley and Allan Sicat:

They are both graduates of West Point, so I think it’s really cool that they are military guys!

It’s so very pretty and soft with white minky chenille on the underneath side.  The crib blanket is from the Starling collection.  I’m all about the look of this blanket!  Maybe one day I’ll have a little girl and I’ll theme her nursery around this entire collection:

Hello Canvas!

My husband gave me the best present for Christmas this last year.  He had this photo put on canvas:

I took this in one of the many gardens at Chatsworth House in Devonshire, England.  Can you say Mr. Darcy???  Yep that’s where the most current Pride and Prejudice was filmed.  Chatworth House has also long been speculated as the location from Austen’s book.  When my husband presented me with the gift I was so surprised!  It was such a beautiful gesture!  I absolutely love it and it makes me so happy every time I see it hanging in our dining room.  So when it came time for Mother’s Day I knew just what to give my mom.  A photo on canvas from Hello Canvas!  They let me order a 26×36 canvas all complimentary like!  :)  The tough part came when I had to decide on which picture to have them put on canvas.  That’s a hard decision and you know that I’m not good with the decision making process.  So…I did the only think I could do and took a picture specifically for it!  And here’s how it turned out:

This is a picture of the church where my parents were married.  Fortunately I now live really close to it, so I was just able to drive over and snap a few pictures of it!  :)   The gift from Hello Canvas was a mega hit!  My mom loves it, but so does my dad.  Yep it was the perfect gift for Mother’s Day!

{Giveaway} My Silly Monkeys Boutique Baby Bedding & More! ***ENDED***

When it comes to nursery decor and children’s clothing you will probably call me a snob.  I tend to steer away from character items.  Sorry Mickey, Elmo, and Barney!  For the little person in my life I just like him to be more stylish and grown up looking.  That means it’s generally a ‘no’ when characters are involved.  I say generally only because I had control over the situation back when Banjo didn’t even know what a TV was.  He just wore what I wanted him to wear.  And he looked like such a cute little man!  Now of course he is drawn to the characters from his favorite shows and movies.  So I do give in every now and again in order to keep the peace around here.  ;)  But for the most part he still does look like a little man.  But when I had sole control over clothing and things were different.  For instance, I insisted that he would have NO character bedding for his crib.  This proved to be quite the complicated shopping experience.  Everywhere I turned there was crib sets with various popular characters.  I’m talking characters that you only learn about from watching TV.  Isn’t that crazy?  Babies don’t even watch TV!  (Or at least they shouldn’t, but I’m not going to bore you with all the research studies I had to read back in the day.  :))  How I wish that My Silly Monkeys Boutique had been around back in ’08.  It’s THE place to find soooooo many simply adorable crib bedding sets.  All without those characters that I get annoyed by!  It would have saved me so much time.  Although… if My Silly Monkeys had existed then hours of searching wouldn’t have been my problem, but rather actually deciding on which bedding set to get!  Seriously there are so many that would have been just perfect for my little man’s nursery.  Like…
