Fall Friday!

Ahem…

It’s FRIDAY!!!

I love this day and I love the 80’s.

Honestly I think this is like the best day of the week.  THE. BEST.  It’s the kickoff to the weekend.  The time that Banjo is off school, Audi is off work, and we can just have family time.  And… it’s fall so that makes it doubly dandy.

dandyfall

I mean seriously?  How can you not love the hue of that red?

Tell me.  How can you not LOVE it?!  It’s super, duper dandy.

I’m thinking that I need to take some more fall pictures and put them in some photo books to preserve the memories.  Then I’ll get to view them all year long and not just in fall.

I think I might be just a tad gaga over fall Friday.

Too much?

Okay.  Moving on.

Putting the season of fall aside… Why do I like this day so very much.  Well, this day reminds me that I get to have an entire dandy weekend.  A dandy weekend of family fun.  A dandy weekend of family games.  A dandy start to weekend that culminates with church on Sunday.  That’s what we do on the weekends around here.  We spend time with family and then attend worship services on Sunday.  Then we work all week until the next Friday.  Yay for Fridays!

What do you love about Friday and what do you do on the weekend?

A dandy Friday to all!!!

Another blast from the past?  Okay.  🙂

Introducing Baby Banjo!!!

He is finally here!  Banjo was born on April 14th at 5:32 pm.

 His first baby pictures:
For a 37-weeker he was a BIG baby! Our little heavy weight weighed in at 8 lbs. 3 oz. and was 20 and 3/4 inches long!

What a proud Papa!

Of course my Audi had to get a picture of the hearing screening being done…by someone else!  Now why should insurance have to pay for something that daddy could have done himself???  It’s only a matter of time before Banjo makes the trip to the office and just for kicks gets a full work up done by his daddy. Guess that will be their male bonding time!
I’m awake!
I’m asleep!

I’m really awake!
****************
Well, that was a fun little jog down memory lane!  I really need to get some of those picture developed.  Why is it so hard to get photo prints taken care of?  Shouldn’t it be so much easier?  It really should!  These are memories, people!  🙂   Perhaps I should make a photo calendar.  That would be a perfectly effective and dandy way to use all of our pictures from the past.  Otherwise they will never be seen.  So many pictures.  So little time.  I must make a habit of actually doing things with the pictures.  Like for instance…  My phone… It contains hundreds and hundreds of pictures.  iPhone pictures that will never be seen unless I get them printed.  Time to print them!

Stay tuned for more posts from the past.  A glimpse into my life before the Dandy.  🙂

FFF! First Friend Friday!

fff

That’s right.  You  heard it right here.  First Friend Friday!  Now feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but I’d venture to say that this term has yet to be coined in the blogosphere.  At least not a term that coincides with those pictures people parade around on social media for things like TBT (Throw Back Thursday), WW (Wacky Wednesday), etc.  How do I know?  Well, well, well, my friends.  Google is a very magical place where you can find answers to just about everything.  (Just FYI.  Be very careful with the medical answers and advice you find on Google.  They aren’t always reliable.)  When searching “Friend Friday” I got all sorts of things:  Furry Friend Friday, Foodie Friend Friday, Feathered Friend Friday, Free Friend Friday Possibly, Facebook Friend Friday, Featured Friend Friday, Favorite Friend Friday.  The list could go on and on.  There was even New Friend Friday and Best Friend Friday.  The only thing remotely close was the term ‘My First Friend Friday’, but that was in reference to the very first posting bloggers were doing for Friend Friday.  You know that weekly blog party where bloggers answer random questions???  Yeah that one.  So I’m seriously thinking that FFF just hasn’t been coined yet.  Who knows?  Maybe it does exist out there on some very remote page that’s showing up somewhere in the more than 147,000 search results, but for now I’m just fine with saying it wasn’t coined before.  🙂   Alrighty then.  Let’s get this FFF thing started.

That very first friend ever.  We’ve all got ’em.  Who was YOUR very first friend?  Are you still friends?  For this blog posting I’m actually using a photo that I broke out yesterday for TBT.  It was broken out for personal use, so you all didn’t get to see it.  😉   It’s a throw waaayyy back and it’s a picture of me and my very first friend:

Becky and I were adorbs.  Ahem.  I mean… we are still adorbs.  😉

Yes, we are still friends.

Technically this girl and I were friends before birth.  It’s true.  Our parents were good friends before us wee ones were even thought of.  🙂   They spent their weekends camping and boating.  All carefree like.  Way back in the 70’s when life was easier.  😉   Apparently our dads used to love to compare whose ski boat was better.  I’ll bet it involved their fancy sports cars, too.  Okay.  It’s very possible that to this day, whenever they are in the same room, they still do compare such things.  And neither one of them still has a ski boat or sports car!  Ahhh.  The life before kids…

So there you have it, folks.  First Friend Friday.  Stay tuned for future pictures of me and my first friend.  Next Friday.  Same place.  Same first friend.

Getting Healthy Week 3: ONE pound!

I never thought in all my life that I would be so excited over one pound.  It was a tough week and took a lot to get there.  Well, that’s not exactly true.  The week started off fabulously.  I stayed right on track, worked out, and ate super healthy  snacks.  This is by far my favorite:

481482_10151502094384813_2066396505_n

I could eat apples and peanut butter all day long and be quite content.  Soooo yummy!

Most of the week I was feeling pretty amazing.  In fact by Friday I was down FIVE pounds.  That’s right, FIVE pounds!  It might have been a lot of water weight (okay it was water weight), but it was FIVE pounds!!!

Then Friday evening came with dinner *insert horror film music* at this place:

I had never before been to that restaurant (probably a good thing since I obviously can’t control myself when it comes to pasta) and it is dangerous…Let.  Me.  Tell.  You.

I entered thinking I would be totally good and just eat part of my eggplant parmesan.  Then they sabotaged me with bread and appetizers.  I was hooked.  That portion control of my meal?  Did.  Not.  Happen.  Plus, they are tricky tricksters.  When you order one of their classic dishes (i.e. my eggplant parmesan) they let you pick an extra classic pasta to take home with you!  How can anyone refuse free food?  Why is that tricky?  Well, here’s my logic:  You go home with that “free” meal.  You eat that “free” meal the next day, because it tastes so amazing and the guilt of it going bad is too much.  You gain weight from the 2 days of calorie rich pasta in a row.  You then feel bad from your mistake, but are now addicted to that particular restaurant.  You feed the addiction the next week by returning to said restaurant.  You get sent home with the “free” classic pasta.  And the vicious cycle goes on and on and on.

Well, this week I’m breaking free from the cycle.  I will not be returning to the above restaurant any time soon.  At least until I’m able to control myself.  😉   This week I’m going to work really hard at eating healthy (the entire week) and working out.  Plus, I’m looking forward to starting on this new fitness plan.  Stay tuned…

Silence is not always so golden…

Or is it?  Sorry my dandy friends for being so MIA! I cannot believe that I’ve been so unusually quiet these last few weeks.  Usually I’m quite the talker.  😉  Or maybe you haven’t minded my quietness???  That’s okay, too.  At any rate I’ve missed checking in with all of you.  It was a very busy end to 2012 around here as I’m sure it was in all of your own lives.

We visited the Missouri Botanical Garden Holiday Trains with friends:

Our neighborhood has this wonderful tradition (since the 1960’s) that takes place ever year on Christmas Eve and Christmas night:

It’s so beautiful driving in and seeing the streets lined with the glowing luminaries.  I love our neighborhood!

Santa was really good this year to our kiddos:

They were definitely on his nice list!

We visited family and Santa made a stop there:
