Missionary Posters {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Want to know something cool? Me and fellow Dandy contributor Camille served a mission together! We were Performing Missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois, for 3 1/2 months and together we sang, danced, acted and sweated the summer of 2006 away. It was awesome!

ValCamToo bad Missionary Posters didn’t exist back then. Missionary Posters  is a company that makes (you guessed it!) posters and calendars for your missionary. The owner, Scott Perry, started Missionary Posters in January 2013 “as a way to help families keep the spirit of missionary work in their homes as their sons and daughters serve around the world.” He himself is a returned missionary who fell in love with the arts and design while serving a mission in Rome, Italy (how could you not?!).  And let me tell you, his eye for design is great. He was able to take this–a picture of my nephew, Elder Hansen, on his mission in Hungary–

…and turn it into THIS!

Doesn’t that look great?! You can see other examples of posters he’s done on his Pinterest page; all are very smartly done and include the same eight elements: a customizable headline (i.e. Serve With Love), photo, name and name tag (in English or the country’s language), country or state flag, mission name, service dates, Scripture images (English or country’s language), and favorite scripture. The end result is a very clean and artful homage to the missionary and his country/state in which he’s serving. It came boxed very carefully and wrapped in tissue paper so I wasn’t worried about anything getting bent or scratched on its way.

The quality of the paper was thick and it looks and feels awesome. My only complaint is the cutting job seemed a little off; there was a small black line running down the right edge of the poster and it seemed to be cut a little too close on the top. And that may have been a design flaw as opposed to a cutting flaw; either way, it didn’t ruin the whole thing for me, it was just something small that I noticed because I am a perfectionist and I notice tiny, insignificant details 🙂

The posters can be printed at 16×20 (what I reviewed), 11×14 and 8×10, and the prices are $49, $39 and $35, respectively. Ordering was really easy–just pick what you want and send in all the info–and Scott was great to work with. He sent a proof of the poster before he printed it so I could double and triple check that all the information I had included was accurate and that I liked the design.  Missionary Posters also makes countdown calendars, but these only come in 16×20 and 11×14 so all the numbers can fit 🙂 The calendars contain the same personalized information as the posters (except for the scripture) and are $38 and $32, respectively.
