Truly’s All Natural Deodorant {Review}

As stated in my bio, I am a thrift-store shopaholic.  I love the hunt for fabric, buttons, trim, lace, etc.  I’ve been known to attack the frumpiest of dresses for the fabric, rip out the zipper, and sew up something totally new.  I’m not afraid to get personal with any pre-loved outfit, except for one that has pit stains or deodorant remains.  Nasty.  I HATE DEODORANT STAINS!  I hate touching them, seeing them, and especially washing them out of my favorite clothes.

When I had the opportunity to review Truly’s All Natural Deodorant, I thought, “All-natural: yesssssss” (said in a dramatic sigh as I throw my head back).

When I opened the container and before I read the ingredient list, I thought, ‘This reminds me a lot of coconut oil, actually, like a really thick Crisco’.  Go figure, the ingredients are: Organic Coconut Oil, Powdered Sugar (sugar, cornstarch), Baking soda, Beeswax.  That’s it!

Yes, that’s exactly what I thought too!  Now don’t be afraid of deodorant in a round container instead of a stick.  You use it like a cream, and though you do have to touch it to put it on, I really love being able to control exactly how much I use and place it where I want it.  I seem to always smear the deo on my clothes as I’m trying to reach my armpit, or fit a sweater over my head.  And again, I HATE WHITE DEODORANT STAINS!  Yuck!  So this set-up is great.

This stuff is great for sensitive skin, and you don’t have to worry about odd skin reactions to harsh ingredients.  And yes, if you’re wondering, it smells just like coconut oil!  Fairly tropical, pleasant, and effective smelling.  I also am a huge fan of this product being strictly a deodorant without the anti-persperant, because I’ve found it is the harsh chemicals and the acidity of the antiperspirant that makes clothes change color–you know, the yellowing in the armpits of your favorite white sweater.  This is exactly how I like it.

So does it work?  Truly!  Haha.  I put it on at the beginning of a crazy busy day, and I felt clean and fresh all day.  I didn’t notice any grossness after hoisting kids, hauling groceries, housework, or even after an intense phone call that would usually get my pits working hard.  Is this post becoming a bit too personal?  I feel like this deodorant is 100% effective, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE how it is packaged in cream-like tub with a vintage label.  I will be using nothing but this until I’ve scraped out every ounce.
Everything comes from a home-based business in Delaware and this is their first year selling their products in an online shop!  I would love to see this product go huge!  Tell your friends about it the next time a ‘sweaty’ conversation comes up, and go purchase some for yourself!  One container for $7.99 is going to go far!

 Our big old oven in our little drafty Boston apartment creates a lot of heat and takes a million years to cool down, so I completely avoid cooking with the stove the entire summer.  As soon as the season changes, I’m a baking fool.  I think I’ve made banana bread every week since Labor day.  One of my favorite banana recipes of all time includes coconut oil, which I’ve never actually cooked with before until I received this beautifully enormous quart jar of coconut oil from Tropical Traditions!

Tropical Tradition’s Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil is hand crafted in small batches by family producers, and it is the highest quality coconut oil they offer. You can read more about how virgin coconut oil is different from other coconut oils on their website HERE.

 By the way, I’ve already made three different loafs of banana bread with this coconut oil, and every batch turns out better than the last.  Here’s my banana bread from last week.  Bananas + coconut oil = so richly tropical and practically sinfully tasty!

I’m also pretty excited about finding some facial scrub recipes that include coconut oil.  You can visit Tropical Tradition’s website to check on current sales, to learn about the many uses of coconut oil and to read all about the advantages of buying coconut oil online.  Here is also a great website to read about the health benefits of coconut oil.

Tropical Traditions also has several very popular recipe videos on their YouTube channel that are free to use.

You can also watch the video they produced about Gold Label Virgin Coconut Oil:
