The weather here in St. Louis has been quite unusual this season.  It has only snowed once and that was several months ago.  No snow so far for 2012.  Usually it’s bitter cold here with the dreaded windchill factor.  But last week?  We had temps in the middle to upper 60’s!  That’s highly unusual for these parts.  Winter is actually my favorite season, so really I’ve missed getting to dress for the elements this year.  There is still hope, though.  The weather man is predicting some colder weather and I’m ready for it.  Plus, in years past we have gotten snow late into the season.  Here are some images of my city the end of March 2011:

Our little Ruby is growing fast.  I cannot believe she’s already a month old.  Where does the time go?  With kids it just tends to fly by I guess.  She’s starting to fit better in her 0-3 months clothing.  Which is a good thing, because we had the bare minimum in newborn sizing.  I was worried she would be really tiny for being a month early, but she was actually somewhat heavy weight at 6 pounds, 14 ounces anyway!  🙂   I feel so blessed that she had no major problems from being early.  However, we have been keeping her home from church and such just to make sure she stays healthy.  After working for 5 years in a children’s emergency room I’m a total germaphobe and a freak about preventing the dreaded RSV.  So Ruby won’t be blessed at church until March 4th.  In the mean time I’ve been getting things ready for a her blessing day.  Family will be coming into town, so there’s so much to get ready around the house!  So stressful!  Fortunately for me the hunt of finding the PERFECT blessing gown was not part of the stress.  As tradition repeats itself my parents wanted to get the gown for our little one.  My mom is ill right now (please remember her in your prayers), so we sat down together and looked at dresses online at Maylee’s Boutique.  We decided on this beauty:

Holiday Gift Idea #5: EZ SOX

Can you say way dandy stocking stuffer?

According to Banjo’s preschool he needs to work on his independence.  But they aren’t talking the forward thinking/would rather do his own thing type of independence.  He has that one down!  They mean he needs to work on putting his coat on by himself, etc.  That etc. also  encompasses putting his socks on by himself.  At first it was a bit of a devastating blow.  I mean he’s only 3 and 1/2!  Being that I’m a stay-at-home mom he hasn’t had a lot of structure and I just might be a little more inclined to do things for him…  But then I thought about it rationally and it probably is time for him to learn to put his coat and socks on by himself.

I think boating might just very well be part of my DNA.  Years before I was even born my parents had a ski boat.  They were always out on the boat during the summer months in the Midwest.  Lakes, Mississippi River, you name it and they went boating on it!  So it’s not surprising that I spent time on a boat even in infancy.  My husband grew up in a boating family, too.  He would spend summers at Lake Powell.  This summer will be joining his family for another grand Lake Powell adventure!  I love that place!  It’s so beautiful and totally different than the lakes I grew up around.

I have my swimwear all lined up for the summer months, but I’ll admit that I’m totally lacking in the short sleeved shirts department.  Since my weight loss I’m down a few sizes which means that I haven’t built up a clothing collection as of yet.  That does take some time!  Care to take a gander at some really cute tops for summer wear? 
  
There just are so many cute summer options!  Banjo has his clothes already for the summer.  Guess I spend most of my time shopping away for him.  And I’m not the only mommy who does that am I???  :)   Actually… Caroline over at The Bingham Diaries has a way fun blog post today on that very topic!  Check it out!
