Missionary Posters {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Want to know something cool? Me and fellow Dandy contributor Camille served a mission together! We were Performing Missionaries in Nauvoo, Illinois, for 3 1/2 months and together we sang, danced, acted and sweated the summer of 2006 away. It was awesome!

ValCamToo bad Missionary Posters didn’t exist back then. Missionary Posters  is a company that makes (you guessed it!) posters and calendars for your missionary. The owner, Scott Perry, started Missionary Posters in January 2013 “as a way to help families keep the spirit of missionary work in their homes as their sons and daughters serve around the world.” He himself is a returned missionary who fell in love with the arts and design while serving a mission in Rome, Italy (how could you not?!).  And let me tell you, his eye for design is great. He was able to take this–a picture of my nephew, Elder Hansen, on his mission in Hungary–

…and turn it into THIS!

poster

Doesn’t that look great?! You can see other examples of posters he’s done on his Pinterest page; all are very smartly done and include the same eight elements: a customizable headline (i.e. Serve With Love), photo, name and name tag (in English or the country’s language), country or state flag, mission name, service dates, Scripture images (English or country’s language), and favorite scripture. The end result is a very clean and artful homage to the missionary and his country/state in which he’s serving. It came boxed very carefully and wrapped in tissue paper so I wasn’t worried about anything getting bent or scratched on its way.

The quality of the paper was thick and it looks and feels awesome. My only complaint is the cutting job seemed a little off; there was a small black line running down the right edge of the poster and it seemed to be cut a little too close on the top. And that may have been a design flaw as opposed to a cutting flaw; either way, it didn’t ruin the whole thing for me, it was just something small that I noticed because I am a perfectionist and I notice tiny, insignificant details 🙂

The posters can be printed at 16×20 (what I reviewed), 11×14 and 8×10, and the prices are $49, $39 and $35, respectively. Ordering was really easy–just pick what you want and send in all the info–and Scott was great to work with. He sent a proof of the poster before he printed it so I could double and triple check that all the information I had included was accurate and that I liked the design.  Missionary Posters also makes countdown calendars, but these only come in 16×20 and 11×14 so all the numbers can fit 🙂 The calendars contain the same personalized information as the posters (except for the scripture) and are $38 and $32, respectively.

I am quite the list-maker, for just about everything and anything.  I make lists about things I need to do, people I need to call, baby things I still need to get, items to buy at the grocery store, returns to make, websites to visit and e-mails to send when I get on the computer (I can get distracted easily…), and projects that I want to complete.  I know that so many people have smartphones and other electronics that will organize this sort of information for them, but I still prefer to have something tangible on which I can write.

“As with many great inventions, the momAgenda was created to simplify the life of its founder – and caught on like wildfire.  Nina Restieri, a former successful ad executive, and businesswoman at the helm of a family business, was attempting to organize her chaotic schedule (and those of her family of four young children) one morning when she started to think about wedding planners. Why, she wondered, are there hundreds of options for brides to choose from to plan their wedding, but not a single option for mothers to plan their everyday lives?  One year of extensive research later, momAgenda was born.  The first run of products sold out within three days to 120 stores. At that moment, Nina knew she had struck a chord with women all over the country who had the same desire to bring some order to their hectic lives.”

Since its inception in 2005, momAgenda has grown annually to include a diversified range of products that help organize the lives of mothers and others, including…

We received the Kelly Green School Years book to review, and I love the sturdiness of this book!  Our little boy is in pre-k this year, and I’m sure that this will last throughout his years in school and beyond.  This School Years book is a great way to organize all important pieces from each year of school — there’s a separate folder for each year in school that can hold report cards, class pictures, art samples, writing samples, and more.  There are also sections to write in extra notes about the child’s teacher(s), friends, and activities throughout that year.

I would highly suggest momAgenda for some great tangible organizing materials that are classy and professional, as well as practical and useful.  Head on over to find your new favorite have-to-have item in preparation for the upcoming school year!

Although I’m pretty happy to live in a time when technology allows us to Skype with family clear across the country, see pictures of a friend’s new baby within hours (or sometimes minutes!) of his/her birth, or receive a text in the middle of the night with some exciting news from my brother, I also love handwritten notes and books with pages you actually have to turn.

Galison offers incredible paper products for all occasions with classy themes and collections.  They have organizers, calendars, journals, bookmarks — everything that reminds us of staying connected with other people without having to be connected to the Internet.  Here are a few of my favorites:

pocket planner

I love this Today is the Day Pocket Planner to keep track of appointments, playdates, meetings, and menu plans!  I’ve tried every organizing app under the sun, along with online calendars and other special ways to keep my days straight.  None of them work as well as my paper planner/calendar and my pens.

partyThese Playful Animals Party Picks are also a cute way to decorate homemade cupcakes for baby showers or birthday parties and turn them into something amazing!

bookmarks

This Up in the Air Magnetic Bookmark set will be finding its way into my four-year-old’s Easter basket this Sunday – we’ve recently started reading early chapter books, and we need something better than a sticky note to tell us where we are! bookplates 2   And these Forest Friends Bookplates are the best ways to keep track of your books and to ensure that they make it back home once being lent to a friend.  (I’m a big reader, and I like to swap books with my friends.  I know I’m guilty of having borrowed *someone’s* book, only to have to try and remember whose it was…)

Head on over to Galison and check out their great collections, and be sure to use the coupon code ZZZ2 (three Z’s and the number 2) for 15% off any order!

One Dandy reader will win a set of the Up in the Air Magnetic Bookmarks and Forest Friends Bookplates — enter below to win!
