Where giveaways are just dandy!
I am getting addicted to these home design magazines that come out with a new palette of beautiful colors, designs, prints, and styles every month. It makes me want to get up and move immediately so that I can start fresh with blank walls, new spaces, and fresh ideas. Considering logistics, and of course, a budget and reality, this isn’t gonna happen, but there is still a lot that anyone can do to liven up the place a little. Especially when it comes to your bedroom. With only one room to redesign, and usually a limited number of furniture pieces and windows to address, its EASY to create a whole new space in a matter of hours.
Starting and ending at Brylane Home is the best way to go. Their new collections of bed sets, sheets, comforters, blankets, and throws are beautiful, functional, simple and affordable. Check out these lovely bedding sets! They carry solids, prints, florals, geometric designs, pastels, etc. and all in the full variety of sizes — twin through king.
Brylane Home sent me the BrylaneHome® Studio Quilted Bedspread in Yellow/Grey. This bedspread is reversible, meaning more options! I could go gray or yellow depending on the mood and season. I’m thinking grey for winter and yellow for spring! Perfect!
This diagonal quilting is beautiful! Simple and modern, clean and not too feminine. As all bedding should be, these spreads are machine washable, and made out of polyester, which is a very strong fiber that is resistant to sun-fade. The batting is thick, the fabric is smooth to the touch, and the pile is fluffy. I bet one round through the dryer would fluff it up even more. Because of the close quilting, I imagine this is one of those items that only looks better the more times you wash it.
We ordered a King size ($64.99), which measures 120†x 118â€. We sleep on a Queen size bed, but a King is definitely in the future, and we like having a lot of extra comforter space on both sides of the bed. Less fights over covers. Believe me.
Before: mod-podge, bland, no theme or color scheme
After:Â HOLY COW what a difference!
I love it. This was the easiest transformation, and it looks so refreshing! I couldn’t wait to see my husband’s face when he walked in and saw a totally new bedroom. He didn’t think it was half bad! Especially for being worried that that colors together were too babyish. I think the navy really brings it all together. We did still have to sleep with more blankets and quilts underneath at night, as usual, but our room is an uninsulated ice cube, so I wasn’t really surprised. This comforter is quite thick and warm, just not enough to go solo quite yet. Maybe next month.
This quilted bedspread comes in some beautiful color combinations, all perfect for a quick and easy (and affordable) room makeover.
…and while you’re there, check out all the coordinating quilted shams, pillow cases, bed sheets, pillows and throws!

I’m about to reveal something about myself, Tara of Dandy Giveaway, to hundreds (okay thousands… since this is a multi blogger giveaway) of people at once. Â When I finally moved away from home for college I was in my sophomore year and the year was 1997. Â That means I graduated from high school only a few years past 15 years ago and makes me 5 years away from the big 4-0. Â Whew. Â I’m glad I could get that off my chest and admit it all oh so quickly! Â Back when I went away to school there weren’t many options for finding all the gear I needed for my dorm room/apartment room all in one place. Â I had only just recently acquired an email address and no one shopped online, because very few people had the internet! Â So that meant my mom and I went to store after store looking for the perfect bedding, bathroom accessories, and towels. Â It took FOREVER! Â Kids of today have it soooo easy…
Now they can find everything they need all in one stop. Â Online at Residence Hall Linens! Â This web store seriously has everything a college student needs so they can focus on the truly important things… like studying. Â 🙂 Â Here are just a few of the great looks:
So if you have a Senior in high school at your house or even one that’s about to head off to heading off for winter semester then you now know to direct them to RHL. Â The linens are also always perfect for home use, too. Â 😉

Brylane Home is a fabulous online store with a HUGE selection of window, bedding, bath, kitchen, storage, furniture, large chairs, and entertaining products! Everything is stylish, functional, and quite affordable. If you’re newly married, just moved in, or looking to update your home, Brylane Home is such a great place to find everything you need! I would have LOVED to register here when we got married!
They also carry some great outdoor living products for entertaining guests and relaxing in your own backyard. These are making me just ache for the day we actually have a backyard! When I get a back porch, a big umbrella over a table will be one of the first things we get:
Check this out: its a Grillzebo!
And wouldn’t this waterproof hexagon gazebo be perfect to set up for a few months out of the year? Then just disassemble it and store it away after the summer months. Or leave it up year-round for a shady spot.
It was my pleasure to review Brylane Home’s Folding Camp Rocker! This chair is originally $139.99, but on sale right now for much cheaper!
We just spent our vacation up in Idaho at my extended family’s cabin in beautiful Island Park. They just finished a gorgeous addition with the most beautiful back porch, where we spent the majority of our evenings. The weather was perfect!! Since it was recently completed, we were lounging in camping folding chairs, and oh how I wished I could have brought my new folding rocker! (We flew, and were limited in luggage, but if we had driven, this would have been the first thing packed!)
When we pulled it out of the bag (which has a helpful reinforced shoulder strap), I was so glad that there was no assembly required! Just take it out of the bag and pop it open. This guy is SO comfy. It is a plus-size chair, so practically any body will feel cozy inside. I like that my kids can join me on my lap or even beside me in the chair. The polyester canvas chair material can be spot cleaned, and isn’t rough like some camping chairs can be.

Babies always seem to come in groups, and we had a group of babies arrive to our area in December. Three sweet babies were born within a week of each other, and it so fun to watch them all grow and now start to interact with one another. The best part, though, was that I had agreed to watch two of those babies’ older siblings while their moms and dads went to the hospital, so I had the special privilege of seeing those sweet babies when they were just days old and on their way home for the first time. I loved getting to snuggle those swaddled babies!
SwaddleDesigns was founded by Lynette Damir, RN, Designer and Mom of two in 2002. SwaddleDesigns is known for their premium quality fabric, fabulous colors and prints, and their innovative 123 Swaddle® pictorial instructional label sewn to the edge of their Swaddling blankets that makes learning how to swaddle so easy.
My first son was born at 35 weeks and was in the NICU for a week before he could go home, and I was a scared first-time mom who realized very quickly that being the oldest in your family of four and vaguely remembering your youngest sibling coming home right after you turned seven years old (as I was!) did not prepare you nearly as much for bringing home a baby as being the youngest of five and being old enough to do something to care for your nieces and nephews (as my husband was) does. Although I babysat all through high school, this swaddling was foreign to me and seemed to be both an art and a science. This instructional label would have been so helpful four and half years ago!
SwaddleDesigns Ultimate Receiving Blankets provide a cozy texture that so many babies love. Many moms state they think their baby sleeps better in a lightweight breathable cotton flannel blanket. Our soft blankets are machine washable, tumble dry low and they look and feel great wash after wash. In addition, these receiving blankets are versatile in use – sunshield, playmat for tummy time, privacy throw for breastfeeding.

I worry every night about “Rocket” freezing to death. Even though I bundle him up in layers, cover him in blankets, and plug in a space heater, our drafty uninsulated attic bedrooms just don’t hold in heat very well. I’ve seriously been contemplating zipping him up in a sleeping bag at night to keep him warm, so imagine my delight when Artistic Sensations asked if I would review one of their children’s sleeping bags!
Here is my video review of the cute sleeping bag we got in the mail this week. “Rocket” was not in the mood to show us how cute he snuggles into it, but you’ll get a taste of how squirmy “Little Brother” can be lately!
