PB Crave {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.
This giveaway is in honor of my mother!  Oh how I love her!  She is exactly the right mom for me and she has taught me what is truly important in life.  I want to emulate her in so many ways, and be just that kind of mother to my kids.
Untitled19
If you know my mom well, you know about her passion for peanut butter 🙂 She literally has a peanut butter sandwich for lunch every single day of the week.  When she’s pregnant, she only craves peanut butter, and all of us kids are sure that our love for peanut butter comes from those nine months of a heavy pb diet.  If there was anyone who could lend their critique when peanut butter is involved, it would be my mom!  I was so excited to have her visiting me for a week while we had this delicious pack of peanut butters from PB Crave to consume!
IMG_6830
Consume we did.  It was remarking how much peanut butter we downed in a single week.  It was just so good.  I haven’t tried many natural peanut butters, and these have convinced me to switch.  It probably didn’t help that we had just gone apple picking and had a heaping bag of freshly picked New England apples to dip.  Here’s the line up:
IMG_6833
COCO BANANAS – Delicious.  I think banana-flavored foods can easily become overpowered with banana, but this has a good hint of banana, esp. in the aftertaste.  We decided that this tastes best not on bananas, but on other foods where the banana in the peanut butter can be detected and not masked by actual banana.  Tried it on bread: awesome.
IMG_6839
COOKIE NOOKIE – This one was a crowd favorite.  By the title, my husband said, “I’m a fan of this already”, and it didn’t disappoint.  It seems a little thicker in texture and smells like cookie dough.  It tastes like nutella!  Its really like a dessert, and no jelly needed.  Don’t waste this in a recipe–eat it plain or on something without a lot of strong flavor so that you can taste all the cookie goodness!
IMG_6836
RAZZLE DAZZLE – This was my mom’s favorite.  It is so good with the raspberry flavor that you don’t need to add jelly.  We decided that we could taste the added ingredient (raspberry) better than any of the other jars.  Fruity, creamy, rich, yum yum yum.
IMG_6843
CHOCO CHOCO – This one was not as chocolately as we thought it would be (and actually the “Cookie Nookie” tasted more chocolately to us), but it has a great chocolate aftertaste.  Still delicious, and still consumed just as quickly as the others 🙂
Now wouldn’t you love to try these yourself?!

1 lucky winner will receive a Choco Choco Variety Pack (a $20.97 Value), including shipping to the winners door!

WEXY Snack Bags {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Back-to-school, back-to-school!  The topic on everyone’s mind, everyone’s facebook status, and everyone’s latest blog post!  Even though I don’t have a kindergartner this year, I’ve still been quite school-minded lately, and I thought it would be fun to feature a product applicable to anyone who packs lunches or snacks!

indexWe go through a lot of plastic bags around here.  I remember using the really cheap fold-over snack bags as a kid because the sealing kind were more expensive, and in a family of nine kids, who can blame my mom for trying to be economical!  A logical solution would be these WEXY reusable bags, and what a bonus to have cute monsters on them 🙂

IMG_6586

WEXY lunch & munch bags are eco-friendly snack bags, on top of being biodegradable, BPA free, disposable, recyclable, and reusable.  They are made in the USA and feature four funky monsters.  Very colorful!   As you can see in the picture below, these are a little skinnier and a touch taller than an average sandwich size bag, making these ideal for snacks and for little hands to reach inside.  The opaque white color probably helps conceal colored crumbs in the bottom corners which might bother clean-freak children who might be grossed out with the idea of reusing a lunch bag.

IMG_6588

We thought these were great!  The seals are tight and the colors are vibrant.  This box of 28 will go far, since they are reusable, and I like the idea of sending something eco-friendly out into the world, in the event that the little guys become careless with their trash.  My boys didn’t think the monsters were scary, and they seemed to like having something colorful and happy to hold their treats.  What a fun way to make lunch more fun!

thredUP {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I always loved back-to-school shopping when I was younger, and I love it now because it signals the beginning of cooler temperatures and the fall season — my favorite!  The cost related to this back-to-school shopping, though, can be staggering, especially for large families with multiple kids to dress for the new year.

one

thredUP is an online consignment shop that offers thousands of like-new clothing for boys, girls, juniors, and women.  Customers can save money by purchasing these clothes at a greatly discounted price, and they can save time by doing it all online without having to go to multiple stores in various locations.   I was especially excited about their new juniors and women sections (they were just introducing these new features when I featured them here in April) because I can take advantage of these same low prices without having to travel long distances!  I’ve always lived in small towns without malls or many popular clothing stores, and I love that I can buy clothes from some of my favorite stores at a fraction of the cost online in my pajamas while my boys sleep.  Score!

three

thredUP is also very specific about the brands they’ll sell, ranging from Bargain Brands (Carter’s, Old Navy, The Children’s Place) to Basic Brands (Gymboree, miniBoden, GAP) and Premium Brands (Burberry, Ralph Lauren) for kids.  Juniors can enjoy looks from Forever 21, Aeropostale, American Eagle, Hollister, and Guess, while women have a range from Banana Republic, Ann Taylor LOFT, GAP to J. Crew and White House Black Market.  Amazing brands, and amazing prices!  I also loved that I could search by brand and size, which saved lots of time and effort on my part.  Rather than browsing through an entire store to find what I needed, I could sort quickly and easily and then shop from the items that were available and in my size.

four

I really don’t know that I’ve ever bought clothes for any of my boys at full price.  I’ve been able to find clearance deals and shop great sales, and we’re lucky enough to have an amazing thrift store on the base with volunteers who have high standards when sorting through donated clothes and will even wash them before they are put out for purchase.  This has worked just fine for us while the boys have been younger — I don’t stress about tossing out the occasional onesie at the mall after changing a blowout diaper since I only paid a quarter for it, and I’m not so concerned when my boys go outside and get dirty when I consider that the clothes they wear sometimes cost less than a kids meal!  But, I’m not exactly sure how many more years this will last.  I’m sure that it’s going to get harder and harder as they start to request specific looks or brands as they get older, and this is one reason I’m so excited for the new juniors section through thredUP for both young women and young men.

five

People can also make money through thredUP by sending in their like-new or gently-used clothing (free of charge!) and receiving an amount that can either be used as credit or can be paid through PayPal.  I recently sent in a bag of clothes that I didn’t wear anymore, and the process was so easy!  I requested a bag through thredUP, it was sent right to my home, I filled it with as much as I could (both women’s and boys’ clothes, in my case), and then sent it right back.  The processing took about two weeks, and I had money in my PayPal account without any problems.  One thing to note, though, is that you DO NOT receive the clothes thredUP doesn’t purchase back in the mail unless you pay a set fee for Return Assurance.  Since my pile of clothes was a stack that I was planning to drop by the thrift store anyway, this didn’t concern me — I could imagine this being a shock, though, if you were hoping to make a certain amount on your clothes and didn’t end up with the price you were wanting.

You can also check out the Clothesline to see how much people have made on the bags they’ve sent in with specific brands and clothing items to get a good idea of what you might be able to make off the clothes you have.

Use the following referral link to save $10 off your first purchase!  http://www.thredup.com/r/K8KG07

One Dandy reader will receive a $20 thredUP Gift Certificate to find great back-to-school clothes (or fun new fall fashions)!

pediped {Review}

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

One of the great things about having boys is that I really only have to worry about getting 2-3 pairs of shoes for each season — they each have worn the same sandals everywhere to play, their water shoes for the beach or sprinkler play, and then nice shoes to wear to church.  Done, done, and done.  One of the problems, though, is finding a shoe that will last the entire season.  I like to shop ahead and buy clearance from the end of season sales to use for the next year, and I was ecstatic when I found a pair of pediped® sandals at a sale last summer that my two-year-old has worn ALL summer this year.  They are amazing!  They’ve been able to withstand the many days and weeks at the park, and the color remains vibrant and unfaded.

pedipedLogo2013

Exceptional quality, unsurpassed comfort and distinctive styling have made the award-winning company the fastest growing children’s footwear brand in the United States. pediped® footwear has been awarded the American Podiatric Medical Association Seal of Acceptance for the promotion of healthy foot development, and preeminent orthopedic medical professionals, Dr. Mininder S. Kocher and Dr. Thomas W. Vorderer, deem pediped® shoes an excellent choice for parents/caregivers who want their children’s feet to develop naturally and healthily.

pediped® footwear is sold in over 2,500 stores in the United States and 40 countries worldwide with an offering of more than 140 designs for boys and girls between their three lines available in EU sizes ranging from 17 to 33:

original

Originals® — (0-24 months) The soft, flexible soles of Originals® are recommended by pediatricians and podiatrists because they allow children to closely mimic barefoot walking. Originals® are made of the highest quality leather on the market today and also feature a soft foam insert between leather layers. They are so comfortable, your child will not want to take them off!

grip

Grip ‘n’ Goâ„¢ — (9 months – 3 years) Grip ‘n’ Goâ„¢ include all the benefits of Originals® but also have special G2 Technologyâ„¢, which includes a soft rubber sole, rounded edges that mimic the shape of a child’s foot, heel stability, and a soft toe box to allow toes to grip the floor. Grip ‘n’ Goâ„¢ provide active toddlers with the ideal combination of protection and flexibility as they improve their walking ability.

flex girls

Flex® — (1-8 years) Flex® are the perfect choice for confident walkers who have developed a solid, natural stride. With cushioned arch support and a soft, flexible rubber sole, Flex® ensure comfort and healthy foot development. In addition, the Flex Fit Systemâ„¢ allows you to adjust the fit of Flex® shoes to prolong wear.

flex

We received the Flex Jones – Khaki in a size 30 for my four-year-old, who has gone through a number of play shoes and sandals this summer.  He’s been playing harder and harder when he’s outside over the past few months, and I’m sure that that will only continue into the fall.  These shoes are durable but flexible, and I love that the shoes have a little pop of orange peeking through to give a little bit of color.

I’m also eyeing the very cute but also very practical Originals for Baby Boy #3!  I can remember my friend first introducing me to this brand when her son started walking, and I still remember how easily she could slip the shoes on and off his feet and how well they moved with his feet while still remaining stable enough to provide the necessary traction to stay upright.

Easy Lunchboxes {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Well, I tell you what — when it’s time to go back to school, it’s time to go back to school.  I’ve mentioned before that I follow a good number of blogs, and I know that at least half of them have had a post at least once this week about finding the best deals on school supplies, making the transition from summer to school a little easier, and (of course) packing lunches that are easy to make and healthy to eat.  Our Back-to-School giveaway here at Dandy Giveaway for this week falls right in line perfectly with this last topic!

main

EasyLunchboxes was born out of Kelly’s innate ability to do things efficiently while on a shoestring budget, and her desire to send her daughters to school with simple, healthy food, with little to no extra packaging or ingredients. Her past struggle with weight control inspires her to teach and model healthy eating habits for her children, and has fueled her dedication to always send them off to school with a great lunch.”

We have been all over the place this summer (playdates at the park, day trips to the beach, hours upon hours at the pool, etc.), and rarely do we make it back in time for lunch.  At the beginning of the summer, we would stop by the grocery store to get something healthy for lunch but it was incredibly time-consuming and ended up costing so much because I would grab “just a couple of things” I needed since I was already there; our other alternative was to stop by a restaurant or get fast food, but that became pricey after not too many trips and it certainly wasn’t the healthiest choice.  I became much better at packing some filling snacks or even an entire lunch, but then I ran into the problem of finding something that would keep the food cool during hot days.

classic

When I discovered EasyLunchboxes, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review their Compartmentalized Food Containers and a Lunch Bag Cooler!  I knew exactly how I was planning to use them, and I couldn’t wait to get them in the mail.  I chose the classic colors with the black lunch bag, and I loved how the colors didn’t look too young and could be used by anyone in the family.  The Compartmentalized Food Containers were much sturdier than I was expecting — I wondered if they would be so different from other similar shaped containers that are disposable, but these are much stronger and last through many dishwasher trips.

work

Speaking of being used by anyone in the family, you can imagine my shock when my husband snatched up one of the containers and the cooler and filled it with leftovers from dinner to take for lunch the next day!  Not shocking that he would make his own lunch or that he would be okay with taking leftovers (he’s been doing both since we were first married!), but that he would find it manly enough to take to work to eat in front of all his Marine Corps friends!  He’s used it at least 3-4 times a week since we received it a few weeks ago, and it’s been the perfect size for him — the compartments help with portion control, which has been good since he’s been watching his weight and working out more in preparation for a course he’ll be attending in a couple of months.

Lunch Punch {Giveaway} — CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

School time!  Turning the calendar to August yesterday was a little shocking since I could have sworn we had another week (or two!) of July.   Some of the year-round schools in our area have already started, but most of the schools are on the traditional schedule and will start in a couple of weeks.  Are you ready yet??

Check out Dandy Giveaway each Friday in August for a Back-to-School review and giveaway!

While neither of my boys will be heading off to school this fall, I try to have something fun for lunches to break up the monotonous menu that I typically serve for one of my least favorite meals of the day — as I’ve mentioned before, I try to stay away from chicken nuggets and macaroni and cheese, but we definitely have our fair share of quick and easy-to-make sandwiches around here.

On top of that, I’ve been trying to involve my boys more in cooking with me in the kitchen, mostly because I figure that they’ll be in the kitchen with me anyway asking what we’re having and when it’ll be ready!  My two-year-old can stir water in a bowl with the best of them, and my four-year-old does a fabulous job of eating the chocolate chips that “accidentally” fall out of the bag onto the counter.   The Lunch Punch has been a great way to add some interest to our otherwise boring PB&Js and have given the boys a way to feel like they’re helping to prepare their own meals.

main

On the About Us page of the Lunch Punch website, the owner explains, “I invented The Lunch Punch® to encourage my energetic, young boys to sit down and eat a healthy meal.  They where more interested in playing than eating.  I tried cutting their sandwiches with cookie cutters (waste too much bread), butter knives and kitchen scissors, but I couldn’t produce the sensational shapes I wanted with those tools.  Not being able to find what I wanted in stores either, I opened up my local phone book and began hunting for a manufacturer to help me make what I envisioned. That’s how The Lunch Punch® started.”

A big A-MEN to that one!

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOqxfcePiIY]

These fun shapes and designs provide a great way to entice young kids to even leave their toys and activities to come to the table in the first place.  I wondered if my boys would spent too much of their time playing with (and man-handling and mashing…) their sandwiches for it to be a useful tool for these lunches, but they don’t spend nearly as much time playing with it as I imagined they might.  We’ve also been able to use these Lunch Punches for other foods like cheese slices, quesadillas, and even pieces of watermelon.

Here are some of the great designs you can find at Lunch Punch:

Lovable Labels {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

My little boy is all grown up and going off to school!  Ok, its really only 2 hours/week of Early Intervention playgroup, but he still gets to take a backpack, ride a bus, and learn new things, so its school to him, and its a grocery shopping trip with only one child for me!  Everyone’s happy.  I wasn’t really prepared when I got a letter home saying that the kids needed to have all their possessions labeled.  I’ve forgotten that a 2-year-old typically doesn’t have a good sense of ownership or the ability to consciously remember to gather all his things before he leaves, so I was relieved to get to try out the Back to School Pack from Lovable Labels!

logo

This pack of labels is a great value of $44.95 for everything you see below:

15 Sticker Labels
80 Slimline Labels
12 Shoe Labels
48 Press n’ Stick Clothing DOTSâ„¢
2 Mini-Metal Tag (two 4” silver ball chain included)
12 Square Labels

We chose the Licorice Twist colors, without decals or designs, but there are all sorts of fun options available to further personalize your kids stuff.  These are available in 20 designs/colors and 45 different icons!

IMG_5321

We pulled out an armful of things my boy takes with him to preschool and had fun a-labeling!  These aren’t the regular sticker material you’re used to–they’re a little thicker and stronger, almost like bumper sticker thickness, or a lot like the car registration stickers that go on your license plate every year.  What a cute mini-metal tag, huh!?  I love that silver ball chains are included in this pack.

IMG_5327

So honestly, when I saw that they had clothing labels, my thoughts went to casualties past where forgotten stickers went through the wash and left their sticky residue all over.  I wasn’t too excited about trying that again, but THESE clothing stickers are totally safe in the washer/dryer.  The key is to apply it to the garment tag or clothing care label, and there is no need to iron.  All of these are just peel and stick, and they are even dishwasher and microwave safe, waterproof and UV resistant!  That is one intense sticker.

Shoe stickers!  Genius!

I kind of want to put a cute sticker on everything in the house!  These will especially be great when we go on another upcoming family vacation, and there are cousins sharing sippees left and right.

Need a coupon code?  Use the code BTS201306 and get $5 off any purchase of $25 or more!  This expires on September 30th, 2013.

Besides these, you can apply these labels to backpacks, lunch containers, water bottles, gym shoes, uniforms, books, etc.!  This Back to School Pack is their best seller and the best value, and only available for a limited time!  If you’re not thinking about labeling all your child’s school things, Lovable Labels also carries a basic Starter Pack, Sports Team Packs, Party Packs, and a Split Pack, which is great for siblings or when you want two of everything.

Get ready for school to start and check out Lovable Labels‘ sticker packs ($44.95)!  One winner will receive their choice of pack/design and text!

Do you remember Lisa Frank art and school supplies?  The techno-bright colorful, happy, and extremely pre-teen girly line of pencils, stationary, folders, lunch boxes, etc.  If there ever was a fan, it was my 11-year-old self who would do anything for another item in my collection of Lisa Frank things to take to school.  The same feelings of, “I want one of EVERYTHING here!” and “I want the whole collection” and “I MUST have one of these in that print!” came flooding back as I awgled over everything in the darling shop called Capri Designs.

Its like a grown-up collection of stationary, back to school, and home office supplies for the working woman and homemaker.  Let’s begin with some of my favorites!  This is one of the cutest clipboard and paper sets I’ve seen!  I only wish I had one back when I was teaching Home Ec, and always had a clipboard in my hand.

And oh how I need some of these magnetic writer’s rounds for my fridge!  I seem to always be scrambling to find a post-it, and these notes are just so adorable, and would always be where I needed them.

If you’re currently a student, and find index cards useful for studying, wouldn’t these colorful tabbed index cards only encourage more studying?!

And I would love to use these signature note cards to send thank you cards and sweet notes to friends:  SNC_5371_ANCHORS AWAY_1, L

What really gets me are all the organizational gems, like these file folders!  SO cute!

I was drawn to literally every product from Capri Designs, but the padfolios won my heart.  Capri Designs sent me two of their padfolios, and they are beautiful!  Here is the Signature Mini Padfolio with Pocket Organizer in Cottage Rose, along with the Medium Padfolio in Heritage Floral.  I LOVE this cottage rose print!

I’ve been looking for a better grocery shopping companion than the scribbled piece of paper in my pocket, and this little friend totally fits the bill.  The notepad inside the mini padfolio is so pretty, securely placed, and a new notepad can be inserted in the slits behind when the first one runs out.  My pen stays where I won’t loose it, and the accordian file on the right holds all my coupons!  When I took it grocery shopping with me yesterday, I kept thinking, “this is such a great set-up”.  I love it!
