Moody Sisters Skincare {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Here we are at the very last day of August, and I can’t wait to welcome September!  I love the fall season, we’ve got two birthdays in our little family to celebrate (not to mention a literal BIRTH DAY that will occur this year!), I love returning to routine and schedules, and I’m looking forward to having family visit.  One of the most difficult parts of this month, though, is the change in season, and I remember that last year’s September was especially rough on my skin since we move from hot and humid to cooler and dry.

Moody Sisters Skincare offers lots of unique skincare products made organically in Central Washington (where my husband and I lived for two years!)

moody

It all started with two sisters, 10-years apart in age, who grew up in Central Washington and settled in a small town called Cashmere, WA with their families. The two were quite different in almost all aspects of life, but they shared one common interest; finding organic skincare remedies.

Older sister Jess had resigned herself to a life of acne and rosacea, deciding it would be better to live as a hermit than to pay such exorbitant prices for skincare.  Younger sister Whitney had worked as a skincare consultant for five years, but still found few products that wouldn’t flare up her eczema or cause a severe allergic reaction.  After hundreds of dollars spent on doctor’s visits and harsh chemicals that failed to calm their skin woes, the sisters had had enough!  They turned to nature for their remedy.

Thus Moody Sisters Skincare was born. For months the sisters toiled over their stoves and sinks perfecting products that would help their moody skin.  As they developed and tested their lotions, toners and deodorants they suddenly realized that not only did they enjoy these products, but others would too. And the sisters were delighted to realize that since the products were completely chemical and paraben free, they were also safe for their young daughters.  Whatever mood your skin is in the Moody Sisters have you covered. The products range from sensitive skin cleansers and moisturizers to blemish and oil control products, from luxurious lip balms to aluminum-free deodorants and scrubs. Each product is carefully handmade to rejuvenate and brighten skin the way nature intended.

Moody Sisters Skincare is 100% natural, affordable {killer} skincare for the whole family.  Each product is handmade by Jess and Whitney in their kitchen and packaged with love.

Natural Vegan Deodorant Bundle — I can honestly say that I didn’t even consider there would be alternatives to “regular” deodorants that can be found in the grocery store.  These options would be great for the changing seasons, and I imagine that the powder deodorant would be perfect for humid summer days.

Organic Bug Repellant — Our family doesn’t generally have many problems with bug bites, but my two-year-old has about eight bites on each of his feet from playing outside over the past two days — he’s been miserable!  Using bug repellant with such young children can be bothersome, but these organic blends would be a great alternative.

Bamboo Baby Wipes & Organic Solution — I think I’ve only found maybe one brand of wipes that I’m happy to use, and I’m not sure that they’re as soft as I’d like, especially when rashes and bumps make their debut after long, humid summer days.  These bamboo baby wipes sound soft but sturdy, and the organic solution seems like it would do more than just clean.

Natural Eye Makeup Remover — I received a bottle of this natural eye makeup remover just in the nick of time!  I ran out of my favorite eye makeup remover and was happy to try something new since I’ve been using waterproof mascara and eyeliner to keep my makeup from running thanks to sweat and playing outside.  This eye makeup remover has taken everything off easily and leaves my eyes with a light moisturizer and a subtle scent.

Organic Hydrating Facial Oil  — My skin is usually really dry and would benefit greatly from this product, but pregnancy and humid North Carolina summer weather has kept my skin overly hydrated.  :(  I’ve set this Hydrating Facial Oil aside to use in my post-partum weeks/months and especially during the winter weather we’ll be spending in the dry Utah desert.

Goodness gracious, babies can get messy!  This little eater of mine refuses to wear a bib (still looking for another option…maybe a smock?), and can wiggle his way out of any configuration of the straps on his high chair.  Thus if I turn my back for an instant, the kid is bib-less and crawling in his food, and he’s getting a thorough scrub down in the tub after every meal.  That’s a lot of bath products on tender little skin.  I’m trying to make sure that whatever I use on him is extremely safe, healthy, and appropriate for tender sensitive skin.  Noodle & Boo (cute name, right?) carries some dreamy world class products that are safe and effective for baby!

Noodle & Boo’s products are made in the USA and are all FDA-approved.  Their line of products offer complete care for newborns, babies and children with eczema and sensitive skin, and everything is ‘certified organic’.  Noodle & Boo sent us the Essential Care Kit, and it is just what I had in mind when I was looking for baby products for my son.  It has everything we need–extra gentle shampoo, soothing body wash, and super soft lotion, and everything smells like what I imagine a baby nursery in heaven smells like.

Each product was a delight to use.  The body wash is clear and lathers up nicely with a clean scent.  The shampoo is a pale white and a tiny drop was enough to lather up the baby’s whole head.  When I rinsed it out, it was clear that nothing was irritating his eyes, and he smelled so wonderful.  The super soft baby lotion is my favorite!  I was expecting the tradition baby powder smell, so I was pleasantly surprised to experience a slightly different, an almost tropical smell.  It goes on smoothly and doesn’t leave excess oil on his skin or my hands.  Hours later, I could still smell all the different and glorious scents from the Essential Care Kit all over the baby!  Mmm, I love that!

Each exclusive formula is developed to nourish, replenish and protect especially delicate and sensitive skin, so I have complete trust that these products are exactly what I should be using on my baby.  Each product is mild enough to use on the baby every day, so I don’t mind if I do!IMG_3017

Plus, the small bottles are so ideal for traveling!  2 oz. is a lot more than you think, especially when you only use less than a dime-size amount with each bath.  And hey, Liv Tyler, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Celine Dion use Noodle & Boo products on their kids 😉 and they’ve been featured in dozens of magazines.  This stuff is dreamy, I tell you!  Here are some other great products from Noodle & Boo:

My dear friend, Amber, and I met in the community theater world years ago and performed as Belle & Mrs. Potts in Beauty & the Beast!  Weren’t we cute?

Since then, we’ve both grown up and gotten married and Amber has started up a cute shop of hair things and other various items!

A favorite item of mine are these cloth baby wipes.  What an excellent way to cut down costs of disposable wipes and be a little more friendly to the environment.  A set of a dozen cloth wipes, made out of 100% cotton jersey, is $9.50 and has an assortment of cute fabrics.  They fit right into baby wipe disposable containers.  You could also use them as washcloths, spit rags, burp clothes, etc.  I’d love to have a stash of these in my purse, that’s for sure!  With babies and toddlers, you never know what you’ll need to clean up while you’re out running errands.

This set of 36 cloth baby wipes sells for $24. Not bad!

And look, a soap saver for $4!

Everything is made by Amber herself, from her dog-free, smoke-free home.  The headbands are made with Homespun yarn with cute flowers and a button attached.

Just in time for the cold weather, one lucky winner will win this black and white warm winter headband from A Hairy Good Idea!
