Soybu {Giveaway} Closed

First of all I just have to say how excited I am for this giveaway! I know I usually wait until the end of the post to talk about how exciting it is to have a chance to do a giveaway but I just can’t wait! I have been MIA lately because it has been super crazy in my little family’s life. We accepted a job offer a couple hours away from our home, packed our house, put it on the market, moved, and very nearly had a melt down when I couldn’t get a box open all in about 3 weeks. It’s been crazy! But today when I put these clothes on and got ready for a photo shoot, I felt at ease and just so comfortable. Do you own any clothes that make you feel that way? Better yet, do you own work out clothes that make you feel that way? That is exactly what Soybu is all about!

I got the opportunity to try out three pieces from their fall line. The colors and patterns are amazing! The first piece is called the Soybu Flex Tank in Orchard (it really makes me want to go apple picking). It’s a totally cute tank top.

One thing I love about Soybu is how much cover it gives me. Maybe I’ve never invested in a really great sports bra, but I always seem to have trouble with the sides not giving me enough support. This is not the case with Soybu, the built in sports bra is wide and provides a lot of coverage and support.

Which for me that means I can wrangle my little boys without having to worry about any sort of a wardrobe malfunction. Let’s be honest, whether you are working out, cleaning, cooking or taking giveaway pictures, children (the pet variety as well) always seem to find their way under our feet!

I was so thrilled to try their Allegro Leggings in Fresco. The pattern is fantastic! It reminds me of a stained glass window. What do you think? The fabric is thick enough for the cooler weather but it breathes too.

The waist band is wide enough so it doesn’t cut in and give me that all so attractive muffin top. I’m trying to figure out how to work them into a totally cute date night outfit!

With the cooler months finally upon us I’m always looking for a way to cozy up in the brisk air. When it comes to active wear I usually think of your run of the mill zip up. Those are totally nice to have around when you need to layer, but what if you’re morning routine isn’t going to have you sweating and you need something a little more on the warm side? When I saw the Rhonda Sweater in Candlelight I knew it would suit my needs perfectly!

It is so cozy and comfortable! I want to wear it all the time. My absolute favorite part about it is the back! I like to call it a peek-a-boo. It just seems so sneaky and cute!

Annie Jean Apparel {Review}

I’ve been in the market for some slightly dressy ‘casual wear’ for a while now. I want something more interesting to slip on then the boring t-shirts that overwhelm my wardrobe, but I also want something light weight and summery.

I’ve seen a bunch of items for Annie Jean Apparel floating around GroopDealz (a daily deal fashion site) and I’m always drawn to how flattering and stylish their clothing is.

They have a handful of t-shirt styles, but they’ve taken them up a step by adding fun patterns, buttons, and embellishments, which move them from the boring every day shirts into the I-look-awesome-I’m-going-to-rock-this-day kind of shirts. Their t-shirts look comfortable and I love the playful patterns, but what I’ve really been sucked by is their absolutely gorgeous sheer blouses.

I was tickled to get to review the “Be Envied Polka Dot Top” in Mint, and it did not disappointed. The top is light-weight, and though it’s fairly substantial you should still to plan to wear an undershirt, or at least a bandeau with it. The color is a beautiful light creamy mint and the whole shirt is just kind of dreamy.

I’m wearing a size L, and it’s a little roomy, I maybe could have gone down a size. However, the soft flowy nature of the shirt still makes it a flattering fit. I also like that it’s got a fairly high neck, and it would look great with an accent necklace. The front has two pocket details and that line down the front is a folded pleat, not a line of covered buttons.

It has ¾ sleeves that are ruched up to about elbow length and held in place by a silver button embellishment. The shirt is light weight, and kind of billowy. It has a high low cut which works great for tucking it or letting it drape.   It’s super versatile and looks great paired with a skirt, shorts or jeans.

 

If you want to mix it up Annie Jean has a bunch of other sheer blouses in patterns ranging from daisies to skulls and they are definitely worth checking out. This is one boutique shop that will dazzle you with their online options. They’ve got fantastic tops and a huge variety of styles; dressy, casual, summery, comfortable, solid, and patterns. They’ve also got colorful printed leggings, skirts, and dresses. If you’re looking for some cute patterned clothing, perfect for summer than you’ve got to check out Annie Jean Apparel.

Triple Shine Jellies

What comes to mind when you hear the word ‘jellies’? Is it a ton of wonderfully, delicious spreads for homemade bread? Maybe those totally cute sandals you had growing up? Did you know that in the glorious world of nail polish ‘jellies’ actually means something? I didn’t for the longest time until I heard of a cute nail polish trick called a ‘jelly sandwich’ where you essentially sandwich a design or glitter polish between two coats of a jelly polish. I’m so excited to tell you about these polishes!

Jellies is a term given to a specific kind of nail polish that is designed to let you see through it slightly. It’s as if you’re looking through a bowl full of gelatin with fruit in it. You can see what’s in it but the color of the fruit has changed because of the gelatin. The same thing happens when you use a jelly polish, the end result even looks like it would feel like gelatin. I’ve never bought any jelly nail polishes before so when Sally Hansen decided to send me their new line of Jellies I was ecstatic and couldn’t wait to try them out!

As soon as they arrived I got to work seeing what I could do with these cutes! The new line is called the Triple Shine Tropical Jellies Collection. It’s made up of 6 colors (from left to right) Vitamin D-Light, Water Melon, Jell-ous?, Grape Jelly, Ice Tint, and Sea Through.

To start I wanted to give this whole ‘jelly sandwich’ idea a go. I started off with Jell-Ous? It just felt like it would be the perfect pink to go with this rockin’ glitter polish I have. I put on the first coat and was surprised by how thin it was. I kept working on it. I did an accent nail to show how the glitter looks between jelly polish coats. I did two coats of jelly polish, then glitter polish, then two more coats of jelly polish. On all of the other nails I did 4 coats of jelly polish.

I really like the pink color alone. However, it didn’t give me quite the effect I was hoping for on the jelly sandwich level. Instead of trying out the same idea with all of the other colors I decided to see what else I could do with them. First, I thought that maybe I could use the jelly polish to give regular nail polish some dimension when glitter was added. I painted my nails blue then used Ice Tint to layer the glitter polish.

It gave it some dimension but you have to get really close to notice. I’m a huge polka dot fan! This time I wanted to give Water Melon a try. I painted my nails pink and then put a couple white polka dots on. After they dried I painted one coat of Water Melon on top of it. I did this 2 more times, alternating between dots and coats. I was shocked to see that because the jelly polish is so thin it was actually giving me this really amazing ombre effect! Now I can get this effect any time with out having to switch colors 4 times!

I wanted to see how the ombre effect would work on solid white nails. I did one coat of Grape Jelly on each nail then for the next coat I skipped my thumb nail and painted all the others. I continued dropping a nail for each coat after. The color gets oh so slightly darker with each coat. I really liked how it turned out but I wasn’t sold just yet, I really wanted a more noticeable change.

I wanted to try out the last two colors but this time I started with an actual color as the base. For both of the colors I left my thumb nail just as the base color and applied the jelly polish to the other four fingers in same manner as I did with the Grape Jelly polish. I started with a light green color and then I used Sea Through to create the ombre. I love how it transforms into a green apple color! Vitamin D-Light has a delicious orange tint to it. I just knew I wanted to have the base for this one be a bright yellow. I’m loving the tangerine color it transforms into!

Final Thoughts:

Overall I would say this line isn’t the perfect polish to use if you’re specifically going to be doing a jelly sandwich, they’re too thin and even after applying 4+ coats I don’t believe you can achieve that specific effect. However, there are so many other ways to use them! You can use them to enhance your polishes, change their color completely, or gradually change them with an ombre effect. I wonder what would happen if you painted your nails red and painted Ice Tint on top? Maybe an amazing purple tint? I can just see some ombre tiger stripes on my nails in the future! If you’re looking for a way to spice up your nail art, I would say that these are a great place to start! Nothing makes my heart beat faster then seeing my handsome husband spruced up from head to toe in a suit and tie. Haha, maybe this is just me but I love it! I’ve mentioned before how picky my husband is and ties are no exception. My husband served an LDS mission and came back with dozens of ties and only wears half of them. Woolzies {Review}

I remember a couple summers ago I asked a girlfriend how she got her clothes to smell so fresh. She told me that during the middle of the wash she would poor the softener in. Genius, right? Well, this plan worked out great during the summer when I stayed home all day with my puppy. But now that I am more busy and work a ton, I don’t have time to sit and wait for half way through my wash to poor softener in. So, maybe this is may be a little T.M.I. but I thought I should share this little bit of information with my fellow long-thick-hair women 🙂 I shed like crazy! Like you can find my hair anywhere you go in my house. My dryer is pretty good about catching all my hair in the lint drawer, but my poor husband still finds it in his clothes (oops!) Ever since I started using the Woolzies Dryer Balls, I noticed I was seeing a lot less hair in our laundry. The dryer balls were also catching any of the left over hair that the lint container wasn’t. My husband loves that! (He will be sitting there and pull out a string of hair from his under shirt)

Sproutz Designs {Giveaway} CLOSED

So, remember when I said I had this slight obsession with throw pillows? Well, it hasn’t stopped. Especially since I found the darling Sproutz Design.

I have to start out first by saying how darling the owner of Sproutz Design is. When we were emailing back and forth, I could just tell by her emails how excited and happy she was that I had found her shop. For me customer service is a huge thumbs up in my book. Even just the simple emailing back and forth. I probably read into things to much, but I do feel like customer service through some shops have been quite rude to me and that just gives me a sour taste about the company itself. The owner of Sproutz Design was so kind and when I told her to surprise me and send me her favorite throw pillow from her shop, she did just that and then explained to me why she sent that one. She’s just darling!

Sproutz Design is an adorable hand made shop. Everything is authentic and you know it was made with love by how well it turns out. She paints everything by hand and even add’s a little memo on the pillow when you receive it, tellling you that it was hand made and isn’t perfect. That way it looks more authentic and more vintage looking.

What I love most about Sproutz Design is that from the last time I checked her site till today, she already has new and different throw pillows up. I love a store that offers variety!

Sproutz Design was so sweet enough to send me her most popular throw pillow. “You+Me” And I LOVE it!!! It goes perfect in our master bedroom (especially since we are changing our color scheme to a more muted tones)  I have received so many compliments on this beauty. I love the authentic and vintage look it gives our bedroom.
