I’ve been searching high and low for the most perfect fabric to reupholster these chairs for our study:

They are from the 1904 World’s Fair in St. Louis and quite rough looking.

After all they spent who knows how many years living in my uncle’s attic…

I want something unique for those chairs.  I want something gorgeous.  I want something designer.  I want something perfect.  Where would I go to find the most perfect fabric?  Well, we’ve already well established that I buy lots online.  It’s the best, most easiest way to find a great deal.  In my mind there was not a moment of hesitation on who to ask about fabric.  I know a fabric designer.  She’s really super.  Her name is Laura Gunn.  Here’s just a sampling of her talent:

So friend Laura mentioned that one of the best places online to view designer fabric is at Fat Quarter Shop.  She said that they use high quality images to display their fabric, so you can really get a feel for what the fabric looks like.  And of course she was right!

Amazing Grace Headbands {Giveaway} ***ENDED***

We did some traveling last week and headed to St. George, Utah to visit Audi’s family.  By now Banjo is the seasoned traveler.  Ruby?  Not so much.  This was Ruby’s very first time on an airplane and quite the adventure.  Here she is while she was still enjoying the flight:

The return flight yesterday went extremely better than the going one!  Maybe she got used to it by that point?  Or she was just super tired, because we had to travel by car the 2 hours from St. George to Las Vegas to then board the plane.  At any rate we had to begin our drive at the crack of dawn and that meant Ruby wore her pjs for the first leg of the journey.  Did I mention that we were running low on clothing and she wore the backup pair of pjs?  The little boy pjs.  Yep she sported them all through security.  That’s when I discovered that everyone must have thought she was a BOY, because she most certainly looked like one!  What should I have done in this situation?  Had her sport an adorable headband from Amazing Grace Headbands that’s what!

Decorating Ruby’s room has been a dream.  There’s just something about all thing decor for baby girls.  Don’t get me wrong.  It was fun decorating the nursery for Banjo, but decorating for a baby girl is just so sweet and cutesy!  Maybe it’s because I’m a girl and deep down I like girly things.  Even though I’m not that much of a pink gal.  Too much exposure to the color in childhood gave it a bad wrap in my mind.  I’ll admit that I’m slowly warming to the idea of dressing Ruby in pinks.  Although for her room I didn’t want anything pink.  So maybe I’m not quite to that point of being fully accepting of the color pink.  😉  I knew right away that the color combination of gray and yellow would be perfect for her room, because I love the color yellow.  In terms of decor we also wanted a room that didn’t scream baby, so it could in fact grow with her.  Who wants to decorate over and over throughout childhood???  So I chose a bird theme that I thought would be perfect for a nursery, but also in a little girl’s room.  The challenge was the one wall that we selected to leave white behind her crib.  How ever was I going to tie the room color in on that wall without being overbearing?  Enter the cutest wall vinyl that I ever did spy:

Who doesn’t love a good deal?  That pretty much covers everyone.  It covers me especially.  🙂  You all know that I’m all about a good deal.  However, it’s possible that you don’t know to what extent I’ll go for a good deal.  Only my close friends know this about me, because it (like my fabric addiction) is just the slightest bit embarrassing.  ***The embarrassing part of it has more to do with the cringing that takes place.  You will ready more about that below***  In my case the deal obsession can be embarrassing, but necessary I tell you!  Recently I’ve decided that there is no reason for me to be embarrassed or keep it a secret from anyone.  Saving money shouldn’t be embarrassing!  It’s smart, right?  So at the risk of full disclosure I’m going to open up just a small part of my deal finding life to you.  This way all you deal lovers can possibly learn something new.  And those of you who have yet to embark on the dandy deal way of life will be sucked right in.  😉   Are you ready???  Here’s the extent to which my good deal seeking goes…

Having two children in our midst has been quite the adventure.  There’s so much to learn about being a parent to two kiddos.  Why did no one warn me about this???  I’ve decided that mostly it’s learning how to handle a baby and a 4 year old.  The baby is easy.  Ruby is, after all, quite the good baby.  She goes with the flow.  She doesn’t cry very often and smiles a lot.  However, having a baby still throws complexity into the mix when there’s an active Banjo around.  How could it be so different from before the baby?  I mean if she’s such an easy baby then there shouldn’t be a difference.  Well, before the baby we could keep up with the 4 year old.  Having a baby has made traveling anywhere to be majorly complex.  We had forgotten the days when our child wasn’t old enough to walk!  Sure Banjo still likes to take a ride in the stroller (if he’s super tired), but for the most part he’s off and running.  Basically leaving momma and baby in the dust.  Places where a stroller should be easy to maneuver have now become difficult.  The zoo.  The botanical garden.  The park.  It’s no longer easy, because Banjo chooses to leave the beaten path and areas that the stroller cannot venture.  What’s a momma to do to keep up?  Carry Ruby in a baby wrap!  Recently Snuggy Baby sent me this grand looking baby wrap:

Shop Imagineers {Giveaway} ***ENDED***

I’ve long dreamed of opening up some sort of little shop.  You know those cute little shops in those quaint popular tourist destinations across the U.S.?  Love them!  Yep I even purposely pick vacations that involve shopping of that magnitude.  Sometimes.  Okay a lot of the time.  Well, my dream involves opening up one of those shops.  Probably a boutique of sorts, because I’m such a fan of fashion.  Not that I’m all that fashionable myself, but I’m really good at picking out fashion for others.  😉    I don’t see my dream coming true any time soon.  Okay probably never.  So it’s a good thing that others follow through with their dreams.  Then I can oooo and ahh over those shops… Especially shops like Shop Imagineers, because I can then oooo and ahhh from my very own living room!  This shop is seriously extraordinary and I’m so glad to have found it online.

Before I get started on all the contents of this shop that I love… I have to first tell you what I love most about Shop Imagineers.  For reasons that are close to home for Shop Imagineers they help to support the Stroke Foundation and raising awareness of how quickly a stroke can strike.  This is something that is very near and dear to my heart, because my grandmother has had multiple strokes.  She does have some major deficits, but we are lucky to have her with us still.  Thank you Shop Imagineers for taking your experience and using it to help others.  I also wish you well on the road to your own recovery.
