TWEEN Girls, Gaming And Safe Online Fun! {$200 Giveaway} – CLOSED

This Giveaway is Brought to You By GirlsgoGames.com!

My daughter is 11 and she loves connecting with her friends both near and far with the computer! She watches her older sister connect with friends via online social networks. But most social networks have clear terms of service (TOS) against children under 13 using them.

Do people ignore those rules? Yes.
But this mom doesn’t.

I want my daughter to be safe. And I agree; 13 is a pretty good age for kids to understand the risks and problems associated with online communication.

Including: Bullying, Rudeness, Privacy and Appropriate Relationships

  • Are there ways for a tween girl to play and communicate with friends and maybe cousins who live 2 states away?

We’ve Found 2 SAFE Options

First we created an email address for her and she is allowed to communicate with her far-away friends and cousins. We have complete access to the account as well, and we monitor it often. Mostly they spend a lot of time typing in HUGE BOLD FONTS and sharing funny sparkly images.

Second we found GirlsGoGames.com. Hundreds of free games geared to tween girls with sparkly pink backgrounds, lots of dress up games, cooking games and a whole section about FAIRY games.

Girls can also safely create a free profile and chat with other online friends. (I monitor who she connects with; because I’m only allowing ‘IRL’ friends according to my TOS!) It’s also a great time to sit down and talk with your daughter about never revealing any personal information while online. Practicing in a safe environment will help  when they are older and asking to join networks where you’ll have less control.

I hate carving pumpkins!

A few days ago I announced it to the world. (And no one hurt me or anything!)

Tara asked me to share my ideas for NO-Carve (or low carve) Jack-O-Lanterns.
With the help of Google and Pinterest— here are my favorite ideas…

  1. From TaterTots&Jello a DIY tutorial to make your own fabric crafty pumpkins.
  2. From Lowes — Mumpkins! They use real mum flowers poked into the pumpkin, but I vote for fake flowers and a glue gun??
  3. From Etsy Seller SeaPinks — A stuffed polka dot pumpkin. But what if you painted a pumpkin a dark color like this green (or black) and then gave it a ‘glow in the dark’ polka dot topping?

I have a bunch of other fun pumpkin decorating (without the carving knife) ideas…back at my little blog: GoodNCrazy.com! Come join me!
