Simply7 Hummus and Lentil Chips {Giveaway} – CLOSED

I bet the huge majority of us stay-at-home moms are big snackers.  One of the great things about being home with the kids all day is being able to eat at home and always have access to the kitchen.  I have noticed, however, that I can completely skip meals while snacking all day, so I have to pay attention to what I’m actually eating.  As long as they are healthy snacks, this doesn’t have to be a bad thing at all.

Simply7 is a brand of remarkably delicious chips made from pomegranates, hummus, and lentils.  Uber healthy, right?  But before I even looked at the labels, I first wanted to see how they tasted, and not be swayed by just how nutritious or not they actually were.  I was sent this huge box of assorted varieties–

Pomegranate Chips: White Cheddar, Black Pepper, and Sea Salt

Hummus Chips: Spicy Chili Pepper, Sea Salt, Roasted Red Pepper, and Tomato Basil

Lentil Chips: Creamy Dill, Sea Salt, Jalapeno, and Brushchetta

I first pulled out a fairly basic variety–Sea Salt Lentil Chips (below).  They were delicious!  Paired with a tub of hummus, I think I ate half the bag in one sitting.  The lentil chips look and taste air-popped and aren’t greasy in the least.  They are the perfect size and shape to scoop with dip and one chip can fit entirely in your mouth.  That is very important to me!

I was so pleased with how great these tasted (and I am NOT a chip person), and even 10x more impressed to read the ingredients label.  Only four ingredients: lentil flour, potato starch, safflower oil, sea salt.  Very impressive!

The whole family has really enjoyed digging into these.  Above and to the left are the White Cheddar Pomegranate Chips.  The adults in the house thought the pomegranate chips were just a little weird.  The slightly sweet fruitiness paired with salty and cheesy was just a fuzzy mix, or rather just an odd base to start with, but pomegranate-lovers might be all over these.  Plus, my kids think they’re great.  I don’t mind a bit if my kids want a handful of these for a snack or with a meal because they’re so dang healthy!  40% less fat than potato chips.

The Bruschetta Lentil Chips (above, right) are my all-time favorite!!  I’ve completely hidden these away from everyone else.  I don’t want to share a single chip.

The bags are a great size, by the way.  Probably smaller than a typical Doritos bag, but large enough for several people taking large servings.  One bag on the table with a pot of chili was just right for four of us to down.  The Jalepeno variety is very crunchy, not greasy, and it has a great spicy kick.

The hummus chips are a little more dense, less air-popped, and have more texture to them.  Above, and to the right, are the Roasted Red Pepper Hummus chips.  They are great by themselves and have great flavor because of the garlic, onion, and paprika, but eaten with homemade spinach artichoke dip is a-mazing!
