We can claim a lot of “bests” out here in New England. Best lobster, best clam chowder, and best Boston cream pie. Since tasting some of these “bests” myself, I have become a HUGE fan of local delicacies, and will always opt for something home-grown, native, and straight from the farm or ocean over factory-made in a big city hundreds of miles from the source. Lately, I gravitate towards unique flavors and rich breakfast foods, and found a perfect marriage of flavors, spices, and syrup! Introducing Maple Farms!
Six of these syrups can also be put on my “best of New England” list, and two, the Bourbon Infused Maple Syrup is aged in oak barrels from Berkshire Mountain Distillers in Great Barrington, MA, and the Cranberry Infused Maple Syrup made from PJ’s Cranberries on Cape Cod, are from right here in Massachussets! Ok, check out these Fruit Infused Maple Syrups! They come in They come in Adirondack Apple, Going, Bananas, Wild Maine Blueberry, Cape Cod Cranberry, North Fork Peach, Rhode Island Raspberry, and Scrumptious Strawberry.
If you haven’t tried fruit-flavored syrups, you’re missing out. If you have, think about that glorious taste, and then add another degree of flavor and you might have an idea of what these taste like. I was able to try the Rhode Island Raspberry and Scrumptious Strawberry and they are to die for!
They arrived yesterday, and so this morning we made a hearty batch of Belgian waffles for breakfast and these syrups made our plain waffles an extravagantly gourmet dish! First of all, the wax (?) dipped tops are so classic! I’ve never seen that before on a syrup bottle, and I think it is such a fancy finishing touch! I really like the consistency–not too thick where you have to be patient waiting for it to pour. You can tell that the maple flavoring base is not from just a bottle of concentrate. It is richer and more intense, and though it is very sweet, it is not just a bottle of a lot of sugar.
These flavors are so intense! A tiny drop on the finger is enough to fill your senses! The fruit infusions are my favorite. I giant strawberry clump in my bottle slowed down the flow from the neck, but I don’t mind. The raspberry was my favorite! Loved those raspberry seeds and clumps of fruit.
Next, check out these Maple Cream Infusions. These are like syrups turned into creamy spreads that you can smother on toast, pancakes, pies, you name it. Available flavors include apple, banana, blueberry, cranberry, peach, raspberry, and strawberry!
