Cascade Platinum Pacs {Review}

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Cascade.  I received a product sample to facilitate my review and a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

We had a fairly quick courtship and engagement (3 1/2 months total), and as newlyweds scrambling to find affordable housing at the last minute, we didn’t care that one of the only available apartments was a basement with visible utility pipes running along the ceiling and walls, no air conditioning, and no chance of a dishwasher.  We talk about how all those hours we spent doing dishes together were so great for our marriage, but really, looking back, it was still a LOT of dish-washing!

The day we moved into an apartment with a dishwasher, I thought my scrubbing-by-hand days were done.  Not so.  With our store-brand dishwasher powder, I typically spend a few minutes tackling the dishes that were supposed to clean, by chipping off zucchini slivers, sticky oatmeal, and yogurt slime.  When the dishwasher fails to produce clean dishes the first time, and after rinsing, loading and emptying, I still find myself at the sink scrubbing out what the dishwasher couldn’t handle the first time, this super cool appliance is not as super cool as it used to be.  I used to think it was the dishwasher, or the arrangement of the dishes, but after using Cascade® Platinum Pacs for the last few days and many washes, I’m convinced my problems can be sourced back to my weak-sauce washer powder.  Twist my arm to review ANYTHING more effective, and I’ve really found something incredible:

These are powerful little nuggets!  I wasn’t expecting such a difference in my dishes, and especially not in the super clean dishwasher afterwards.  My dishes are as clean as ever!  I honestly honestly honestly have not had to scratch off any leftover food residue in the last several weeks that I’ve been using these!  (Its true, we only run the dishwasher once every 2-3 days, so this pack of 14 has lasted us quite a while!)

These pouches contain the grease fighting power of Dawn, and can scrub away food that has been stuck on for 24 hours, so not running the dishwasher every day isn’t a problem!  These practically eliminate the need to pre-wash your dishes, and the results are sparkling, literally.  Here is a breakdown of the triple-action formula:
  • the liquid-top dual surfactant delivers exceptional shine for the dishes AND keeps the dishwasher sparkling
  • specially designed chelant and polymer system prevents hard-water film build-up on dishes, glasses, and even the interior of the dishwasher
  • the chelant is designed to fight Calcium that comes in with hard-water and food to help deliver virtually film-free dishes wash after wash
I love having immaculately clean dishes all the time, but I’m thinking ahead to how I’ll love having these Cascade® Platinum Pacs around when I have company over.  Having taken cooking classes in college where presentation was everything, I care a lot about the appearance of the dish I’m serving my guest.  How distracting and embarrassing would it be to hand over a delicate dessert in a streaky glass dish?  Gail Simmons feels the same way, I’m sure.  Yes, Gail Simmons from Top Chef and the editor of Food+Wine magazine has partnered with Cascade to discuss why presentation is just as important as preparation.
Gail recommends impressing with a Platinum Presentation: “The easiest recipes pop with unexpected, gourmet presentations. Drizzle bright sauces on sparkling white plates or layer desserts in crystal-clean glassware. Keep your presentation sparkling with Cascade Platinum, which keeps dishes perfect for anytime entertaining and impromptu guests.”

Thanks to Cascade, I almost have the same enthusiasm about filling the dishwasher as the baby does 🙂

    Pam says:

    Camille, do you think the type of water would also make a difference in which dish washing product is used? We don’t have a dishwasher here, but when we move, we’ll have one, and I’ve heard that there is a difference between soft and hard water cleaning.

  2. Camille says:

    Hi Pam! I really don’t know! I’ve heard that these Cascade pacs get really sudsy with soft water, but not too sudsy to clog a pump. Works great with our hard city water!
