About a year ago my nana got me a new sewing machine. While she was undergoing treatments for brain cancer I took care of her and she would watch me sew on my ancient machine. It was a machine that I had acquired at the age of 8, so quite the outdated piece of equipment! To show her gratitude for my taking care of her she wanted to get me a brand new, fabulous sewing machine. I told her that she didn’t have to do that. That I wanted to take care of her and needed nothing in return, but she insisted. My nana is one of my favorite people, I love her so much, and she has always been my biggest fan. I wish this story had a happy ending, but that’s not true. Nana continued to decline due the harsh radiation treatments on her brain. She now lives in a nursing home, because her quality of life has been so greatly altered. I am glad that she’s still with us, but it’s also extremely difficult to see her suffering. Despite the life changes every time I get my sewing machine out it brings a smile to my face thinking of her wonderful gift. I’m not the greatest sewer in the world. Far from it. But I have a spectacular machine and as long as I have a pattern I’m pretty much good to go. Speaking of patterns are you always on the lookout for unique and fun patterns to sew for your kiddos? I know that I am! That’s why Little Lizard King is one of my favorite online shops. The woman behind the designs is allowing me to pick out some patterns for my very own and it hasn’t happened yet, because it’s soooooo very difficult to make a decision! I mean have a look at what she has and you will now why it’s such a difficult decision!
