I think I like candy probably more than most things. Yeah, I said “things.” I don’t even mean that I like it more than most foods; I really do mean most things. Ok, I probably like my hubs and kids more (probably… on most days). So I am so excited to feature Emily at Candy Calamity, a girl after my own heart for sure.
Candy Calamity is a sweet (pun intended) shop full of handmade jewelry and accessories made from recycled materials, including candy wrappers!    Emily (so creative, by the way) makes jewelry from candy wrappers, pouches from plastic shopping bags, resin earrings from scraps of paper, wire and brightly colored tissue.   She has a self-proclaimed “passion for trashion” and has figured out how to make something too cute from… well, trash!

Pasticcio is a term used in music or art to mean ‘a work or style produced by borrowing fragments, ingredients, or motifs from various sources.’ For my earrings I start with leftover pieces of scrapbook paper, tissue, wrapping paper, catalog pages and even crazy things like candy wrappers, gum foil, packaging from tea bags or potato chip bags, really anything I can get my hands on. I form and shape the pieces into matching beads and wrap with wire, ribbon, or embroidery floss. Once they are formed the beads are given a nice thick coat of resin to make them durable, water resistant, and shiny. They are finished with coordinating swarovski crystals and silver ear hooks. While the earrings are a matched set, no two beads I make are ever alike, so each pair is a one of a kindÂ
