Apostolic Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Hey all you winter fashionistas, need something to keep you warm that also has a touch of pizzaz? I sure did! And since I’m of the church going faction I really wanted a coat that would be long enough to cover my legs and add another layer of warmth when I’m wearing a dress.Apostolic Clothing happens to have dozens of floor length dresses, jackets and long coats perfect for sprucing up your winter wardrobe and they are adding new styles all the time!  I love coming back to their site and seeing the fresh inventory just waiting to dazzle my closet (ha).

If you haven’t heard of Apostolic Clothing before you’re really missing out.  They are an awesome store that specializes in modest modern & vintage style clothing (thinks trendy patterns, flattering cuts, and long stylish dresses and skirts).

Anyway, I was over the moon when Apostolic Clothing asked if I would like to review a winter item, following my review of their ballerina skirt a few months ago (you can read about that here).  I choose the Adora, one of their long dress coats time.

This coat drops to just below my knees, and has a quilted/ruched type design that is elastic and pulled the coat around my curves, making the coat also resemble a dress.  Actually if your look at the picture on Apostolic Clothing website they’ve accented the coat with a black belt making it look even more dress like (though the belt does not come with the coat).

It has a high popped up collar that rests just under your jaw and is great for wind protection along the sides and back of your neck though it doesn’t close in the front so if you’re going for warmth with your fashion you’ll want to pair it with a scarf.

It’s also a really light weight coat, (made from 100% polyester) I would say it could easily fall in the jacket category and is ideal for warmer winters days when you don’t want to haul around a heavy bulky coat, but you still want protection from wind. I’m quite tall (5’10”) and I found the sleeves were just a touch short for me, ending just above my wrist. I ordered a medium and if I were to do it again I would probably go up a size just for the sleeve length, but I suspect not many of you are going to experience the same height issues.

Finally this coat comes in tons of colors (blue, black, white, red, purple) and sizes S – 1XL.  So if you’re looking for something to add some color to the bleakness of winter one of these colorful numbers might be just the thing.

Check out Apostolic Clothing for more great modest winter styles, perfect for Christmas and ideal for winter weather.

So I’m guessing a few of you saw my post recent post for Apostolic Clothing and maybe entered the giveaway, (if not, it’s not to late to enter).  Apostolic Clothing is a great place to find stylish modest clothing, but what about all those other amazing clothes out there that aren’t quite as conservative as you might like?  I know there are so many cute dresses and tops that are just a smidgen too short for my taste or a touch to bare at the top. Henry Mack knows all about the woes of finding cute clothing and being overwhelmed by disappointment when you realize it’s just a bit too revealing for you.  Thankfully they’ve taken steps to make sure that you can still wear anything that catches your eye without having to show more than you want to show.

They’ve got an amazing line up of SlipTee’s, Half Slips, Crop Tops, and Liners all made to wear under your amazingly stylish clothing and cover up anything that’s a little too tiny, sheer, or clingy.

Mikarose for Maternity/Nursing Wear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

When I found out that I was expecting our first son a little over five years ago, one of my very first thoughts (after “Holy cow, it finally worked after trying for one year!” and “Oh, my goodness, it has to come out of me…”) was that I would get to buy a new wardrobe!  I was so excited to find all these incredibly cute clothes that would highlight my growing baby bump and to have something new to wear everyday!

 logo

Although I did a pretty good job of frequenting a good number of stores and boutiques that specialized in maternity and nursing clothing, I was surprised to find that most of my clothes were from some of my favorite pre-pregnancy stores and could be worn comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy and even during post-partum and nursing without any alterations!  Tara featured Mikarose a couple of weeks ago here on Dandy Giveaway and More, and I’m excited to have the chance to highlight how the Mikarose dresses can be used in all stages of pregnancy and even through post-partum and nursing!

 Pregnancy:

    S1309TealProduct_MED

Makenna Maxi — So far, I just can’t get enough of these maxi dresses!  I love that you only have to put on the one piece of (incredibly comfortable!) clothing and a statement necklace, and VOILA!  You can run to do your grocery shopping on your way to meeting some friends for lunch and then to see your husband be promoted all in the same outfit, and all while you’re sporting a baby bump and feeling like you’re wearing pajamas!

9001MintProduct_MED

Bailey — A friend of mine who is due just one month earlier than I am bought this dress when she was just a few weeks along.  I saw her wearing it at church and immediately asked where she got it because I could see the potential to wear this dress comfortably through an entire pregnancy and again when not carrying a baby.  She’s due next month (with twin girls!) and wore it again last week; it didn’t look tight and wasn’t tugging anywhere, and she could move without immodestly showing halfway up her thigh or all the way down the front of her.

Nursing:

F1203_Valerie_Brown_3099

Valerie — I loved the thick ruching around the middle that can cover that inevitable post-baby pouch and the criss-cross design that makes nursing easier and more modest in public.  This half-sleeve length is my absolute favorite, as it’s versatile through most seasons/weather while also covering upper arms that may not have seen the gym in a couple of months.

2101_Avery_Pink_Med_0704

Avery — How classy is this dress??!  I love the wide belt (again, to draw attention away from the middle and to accentuate a waist) while the button top provides easy, discreet access for nursing moms.  And, while I’m not usually one to choose pink, this shade caught my eye from the beginning, and I imagine that it would work even with my blonde hair.

Transitional:

7020_Cinnamon

Serena — I love the flowy nature of this dress, which makes it a perfect transitional dress in my mind!  It can be worn pre-pregnancy without looking like a maternity dress, during pregnancy with lots of material to move and grow into, and after pregnancy for nursing and hiding changing bodies.

F1205_Rebecca_Red_0578

Rebecca — I chose this dress to review, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it!  The gathered material in the middle makes it possible for me to still fit in it at 27 weeks pregnant with some room to grow, while also providing a way to cover my pouch after the baby is born.  The V-cross top makes it easier to nurse in the next few months while also accommodating the constant changing size of my bust.  My favorite part of this dress is the sleeves — there are cap sleeves sewn in underneath, and the detail fancies up the dress so I can wear it to the Marine Corps Ball with my husband in November!  I was also very pleased with the color, which is a deeper red than I was expecting and a much better color than a bright red would be on my very pale skin.

Modest Pop {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

So I’m a youth adviser for the young women in my ward at church, and as leaders, we’re always trying to encourage dressing modestly, first and foremost by what we ourselves are wearing.  Even though I’ve been trying to dress modestly my entire life, I am even more aware of what I’m wearing as I am trying to be a good example to my girls.

Often, we hold youth dances, where modesty standards are strictly enforced.  Get this: if anyone shows up to the dance wearing clothes at are sleeveless, skirts that are too short, or anything too tight or revealing, they are told to change and if they didn’t bring a better change of clothes, we have pioneer clothes for them to wear!  Haha, the epitome of modesty, but not exactly the epitome of style.logo

I’ll tell you about a shop that has both modesty and style: Modest Pop.  I have already addressed my frustration about shopping for modest clothes.  Shopping online for something that I can wear without having to add a sweater, leggings, or a shirt underneath is not my favorite pastime.  These clothes are cute, cute, cute, and totally modest, which doesn’t have to mean frumpy.  Or pioneer.

pink_stripe_1024x1024 scarlet_1024x1024 button_cowl_1024x1024

What is really terrific is this selection of cute LDS Sister Missionary clothes!  It is beyond exciting how many women are putting in their papers wanting to serve a full-time mission for our Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!  I like to think that had I been 19 and still single, I would have jumped at the chance as well!  These thousands of women are looking and shopping for conservative and still stylish clothes, so if you know of a soon-to-be-Sister, or you yourself are about to embark on your own LDS mission, consider checking out ModestPop’s selection.  Plus, MISSIONARIES GET 20% OFF!!!  I myself would be all over these maxi skirts and that ruffle jacket.

With all the cute clothes to choose from, and the quickly changing inventory, I was so excited to receive a pink vintage stripe sweater from Modest Pop!  It is extremely soft and stretchy, and it has become the first thing I grab when I’m cold, which is always.  It is a perfect casual sweater, and yet it can be dressed up.  This is what I wore to church last Sunday.

Too bad this sweater is sold out (I think I got the last one?) but have no fear, Modest Pop still carries it in black and white!

Kosher Casual {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Rumor has it that there will be a wedding this Spring!  So excited for my little brother!  Lately I’ve been looking up cute dresses online, trying to find something nice to wear to receptions, luncheons, etc. and I get SO FRUSTRATED that I cannot find a cute dress with sleeves and a hemline that doesn’t fall mid-thigh.  I’m a mom, but I don’t want to dress like I’m 16!  Or 40!

A lot of people hear the word “modest” and think of out-of-date granny sweaters and flood pants.  Its true.  Just kidding.  Though these would be considered modest clothing options, if you have modesty standards, there are much better choices available!  Let me introduce you to Kosher Casual, an online clothing shop in Israel that carries trendy skirts, dresses, tops, leggings, etc.  How refreshing it is to be able to browse their clothing line and be able to consider purchasing nearly everything they carry.

Kosher Casual Long

Here are some of my favorite knee-length skirts:

I also really love their selection of workout clothes.  The prices are incredible!!

The gray workout shirt: $11

Pink swim shirt: $8 (anyone training for a triathlon??)

Gray yoga pants: $13

Kosher Casual also carries great layering tops and I was thrilled to try out a cropped 3/4 sleeve shell top.

It is perfect for this winter weather!  These tops are finding their way into every modest girl’s closet.  I was very very impressed with the quality.  The fabric is thick and nothing like a see-through t-shirt, but cool enough to wear with all sorts of outfits.  Plus it comes in sizes XXS – XXL, holy cow!

If you are looking for some great holiday clothes, modest athletic wear, or some lovely layering shells, you’re going to love this giveaway prize!

Aliza’s Boutique {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I know a lot of us care about dressing in modern fashions that are still modest and not sleezy because we have modesty standards for ourselves and because we are trying to be good examples to our daughters!  I think it is just as important for young women to have clothing options that are cute, flattering, and are still age appropriate.  Sometimes we forget that it can be just as hard to find modest dresswear for little girls!  I’ve been commissioned as a seamstress several times for Christmas dresses or flower girl dresses because their mothers could not find anything cute and dressy that wasn’t sleeveless!   I wish I had known about Aliza’s Boutique and could have referred my friends to their adorable selection of dresses, jumpers, and tops!

Here are some of my favorite little dresses!

Darling, right?  Aliza’s Boutique also carries beautiful and fashionable girl’s skirts:

And the cutest tops!  I wish they had these my size!  Seriously!

And every little girl needs accessories!!

Mikarose {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect little black dress for quite a while.  A classic LBD—but not karaoke bar style.  Something I could wear to a wedding reception, date night, or a work party.  Mikarose has some drool-worthy little black dresses, all beautifully modest, trendy, and so perfect for the holidays!

Some of my favorite little black dresses from Mikarose:

Can you tell which one I picked?

Yup, I chose the Rebecca dress!  I think its PERFECT!  The ruffled details on the shoulders are totally chic and fashion-forward.  I love that it is a unique look that you don’t see on every modest dress, but it is still subtle enough to not look over-the-top.  It is made out of a high-quality and heavy weight knit, and I’m impressed with the construction and durability.  My only complaint is that I followed the Mikarose sizing chart for knit dresses exactly, and still wish I had picked a smaller size.  It came very roomy and long, so after some minor seamstress alterations, it fits much better, and I’m totally pleased.  If you order the Rebecca dress, just choose a size down, and you’ll love it!

Is a killer dress on your list for Santa this year?  Are you still looking for something eye-catching to wear to a holiday party?  Times a ticking, you better hurry!  Check out Mikarose’s beautiful shop of dazzling skirts, dresses, tops, and accessories that would be perfect for your holiday wardrobe!

One lucky dear is going to win $50 to spend at MIKAROSE!  FIFTY DOLLARS!  Merry Christmas!

Blush Accessories {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Who knew finding shirts that are long enough for someone 5’2 would be hard to do.  I have a pretty short torso, yet I’m constantly annoyed by having to pull at my shirts to make them longer, especially after bending down to pick up toys and bending over to get little boys into car seats.  No thank you, plumber’s crack.  Eww, you see it everywhere.  It drives me crazy seeing girls bend over and exposing way too much back skin.  If I had tee shirt extender from Blush Accessories for every sad case of the shrinking shirt, I would share them like candy.

This is another super option for achieving that layered look and keeping your belly covered without layer upon bulky layer.  These extenders are shaped like a tube top and can be worn high for extra coverage up top, or low on your hips, and it will stay right where you’d like it.  It has a nice hemmed edge and made from a spandex blend, and it is actually really soft and comfortable.  I tried out the new lovely olive green extender and love the look!  I was quite satisfied with the soft cotton feel, construction, and clean appearance.  I’d sure love one in every color!

This tee-shirt extender will be a LIFE SAVER the next time I’m pregnant.  Most of my maternity shirts grow too short fairly early, and this little guy will be the perfect extension to my maternity wardrobe.  It would also be a great solution to covering up those jeans held together with a hair tie because they just won’t close over your growing belly!

The tee-shirt extender comes in olive, black, white and mocha, sizes S through XL, made proudly manufactured in Provo, UT!  USA, baby.

Blush is offering a coupon code to our readers!  welovebloggers will give you 20% off your order!

One lucky winner will receive a Tee Shirt Extender from Blush Accessories in your size!

Molly’s Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

I love the layered look, but I do not love how hot it can get and how much bulk all these layers can add to your figure!  Molly’s Clothing is an awesome shop of so many solutions to this very common problem!

Mini Molly’s from Molly’s Clothing!  Look at this terrific top coverage available in a variety of comfortable silky or jersey fabrics!

Wouldn’t these be perfect paired with maternity tops and dresses?  You wouldn’t have to worry about the bottom half of your tank being super stretched and wrinkled in odd places.

While I’m on the topic, I need to mention that these are PERFECT for nursing so that you don’t have to pull up so many layers of clothes.  So ideal.  Molly’s Clothing also carries tops, dresses, skirts and even modest wedding dresses!!

I was thrilled to receive a strapless mini from Molly’s Clothing.  I have SO many tops and dresses that are absolutely not mom-appropriate without something underneath!  This little lace tube top is a dream come true!  It is much classier and fancier than a common white tank, and you can wear it two ways, with either the thin or the wide lace on top!  Reversible, lovely, machine washable…I love everything about it!

Molly’s Clothing is a great place to stock up on a variety of layering options!  For yourself, or for your teenage daughters!

POSHTOP {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Any girl who loves fashion but also has a sense of modesty standards will tell you its not a walk in the park finding clothes that are trendy and still cover you enough to look respectable.

Many of us who don’t want to bear our back, shoulders, or cleavage to the world resort to sweaters, boleros, and camisoles, but there are much dressier and classier options!  Women in my shoes, let me introduce you to the beautiful pieces of POSHTOP!

POSHTOP carries lovely tops made out of lace or sleek microfiber—a much more flattering look compared to the white t-shirt.  These tops are made with high quality workmanship and elegant fabric, and are suitable to be worn alone.  I think they really stand out as layering pieces because they are so sleek and do not add bulk underneath tops, dresses, or sweaters.

I admit to being one who has limited options and often throws on the white short sleeve knit shirt underneath dresses and tops to make them more decent.  POSHTOP sent me this gray lace 3/4 sleeve crop top and it was exactly what my wardrobe needed.  (I’m so into gray lately!  What a great Fall color!)  I thought the stretch was perfect, the measurements/sizing right on, and it was so very comfortable.  I’ve gotten great compliments on it, and I loved the assurance it gave me that I wasn’t showing too much skin.  I think these are perfect for cold weather when you still want to wear your little black dress.  And the lace is just lovely!

POSHTOP also sells exquisite modest skirts!  The lace is so dreamy!  They are made out of silky microfiber and come in black lace on black, or black lace on sand.  Go check them out!

Also, when you use the coupon code “Dandy” at checkout, you can get free shipping for the month of October!!

Don’t you think a POSHTOP would be the perfect addition to so many of your favorite outfits?

One lucky winner will receive two tops of their choice from POSHTOP!

And you have so many choices!  You can choose regular or crop, solids or lace, 3/4 or long sleeve, and any color!
