I could do anything in a cute dress, couldn’t you?  No matter how bad the date went, or how poorly by interview turned out, I could always face hard things or missed opportunities or even mean people if I was wearing something I loved!  The more likely I am to feel stressed or worried in a situation, the more effort goes into my outfit so that how I look can be the last thing I worry about.  Another thing I never want to have to worry about is how much leg or cleavage I shouldn’t be showing in a professional environment.  While layering is always an option, sometimes its just so much nicer to go modest the first time 🙂

Let me show you the most darling collection of dresses that I would wear in a heartbeat to boost my confidence in any situation!  These are the beautiful dresses of Modest Pop:

4Sleek, professional, and feminine, yes?

Modest Pop is a store that has just boomed since the last time we worked together (and you can read that review HERE).  What once was a small boutique is now a thriving super site of dozens of beautiful things.  They carry tops, skirts, slips, professional dresses and more casual dresses, much like these below and the dress I picked out for myself.

Here is the Daisy Dress, which is sold for $48, available in blue or green, and in sizes XS through 2X!

I love love love this dress!  I think the starch white lace on top is beautiful and the print is so sweet and vintage.  The full skirt is so fun to wear with boots, and the style makes it easy to accessorize.  I love the invisible zipper in the back, the included belt, the refreshingly long length, and the beautiful silhouette it creates.

The empire waist is probably lovely on girls without a lot of curves, but not so friendly on us full-figured girls, so note that before taking these pictures, I made a quick seamstress alteration and took 4″ off the hem and lengthened the torso with this extra fabric, so that the gathers (which I changed into pleats) would lay beneath the belt and not above it.

Also note the big and beautiful selection of clothing for sister missionaries!  If you message them on their Facebook page telling them where you are going on a mission, they will message you with a 15% off code!  Must tell my sister…

Go pick out your next favorite dress!  Things go quick, so act fast and make sure you follow ModestPop to get a heads up on new styles…

Mikarose for Maternity/Nursing Wear {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

When I found out that I was expecting our first son a little over five years ago, one of my very first thoughts (after “Holy cow, it finally worked after trying for one year!” and “Oh, my goodness, it has to come out of me…”) was that I would get to buy a new wardrobe!  I was so excited to find all these incredibly cute clothes that would highlight my growing baby bump and to have something new to wear everyday!

 logo

Although I did a pretty good job of frequenting a good number of stores and boutiques that specialized in maternity and nursing clothing, I was surprised to find that most of my clothes were from some of my favorite pre-pregnancy stores and could be worn comfortably throughout my entire pregnancy and even during post-partum and nursing without any alterations!  Tara featured Mikarose a couple of weeks ago here on Dandy Giveaway and More, and I’m excited to have the chance to highlight how the Mikarose dresses can be used in all stages of pregnancy and even through post-partum and nursing!

 Pregnancy:

    S1309TealProduct_MED

Makenna Maxi — So far, I just can’t get enough of these maxi dresses!  I love that you only have to put on the one piece of (incredibly comfortable!) clothing and a statement necklace, and VOILA!  You can run to do your grocery shopping on your way to meeting some friends for lunch and then to see your husband be promoted all in the same outfit, and all while you’re sporting a baby bump and feeling like you’re wearing pajamas!

9001MintProduct_MED

Bailey — A friend of mine who is due just one month earlier than I am bought this dress when she was just a few weeks along.  I saw her wearing it at church and immediately asked where she got it because I could see the potential to wear this dress comfortably through an entire pregnancy and again when not carrying a baby.  She’s due next month (with twin girls!) and wore it again last week; it didn’t look tight and wasn’t tugging anywhere, and she could move without immodestly showing halfway up her thigh or all the way down the front of her.

Nursing:

F1203_Valerie_Brown_3099

Valerie — I loved the thick ruching around the middle that can cover that inevitable post-baby pouch and the criss-cross design that makes nursing easier and more modest in public.  This half-sleeve length is my absolute favorite, as it’s versatile through most seasons/weather while also covering upper arms that may not have seen the gym in a couple of months.

2101_Avery_Pink_Med_0704

Avery — How classy is this dress??!  I love the wide belt (again, to draw attention away from the middle and to accentuate a waist) while the button top provides easy, discreet access for nursing moms.  And, while I’m not usually one to choose pink, this shade caught my eye from the beginning, and I imagine that it would work even with my blonde hair.

Transitional:

7020_Cinnamon

Serena — I love the flowy nature of this dress, which makes it a perfect transitional dress in my mind!  It can be worn pre-pregnancy without looking like a maternity dress, during pregnancy with lots of material to move and grow into, and after pregnancy for nursing and hiding changing bodies.

F1205_Rebecca_Red_0578

Rebecca — I chose this dress to review, and I can’t even begin to tell you how much I love it!  The gathered material in the middle makes it possible for me to still fit in it at 27 weeks pregnant with some room to grow, while also providing a way to cover my pouch after the baby is born.  The V-cross top makes it easier to nurse in the next few months while also accommodating the constant changing size of my bust.  My favorite part of this dress is the sleeves — there are cap sleeves sewn in underneath, and the detail fancies up the dress so I can wear it to the Marine Corps Ball with my husband in November!  I was also very pleased with the color, which is a deeper red than I was expecting and a much better color than a bright red would be on my very pale skin.

The temperatures are starting to heat up outside.  Is your summer wardrobe stocked and ready?   The best advice I was ever given to combat the summer humidity here in St. Louis was this:  Cotton skirts.

Modest Dresses

The above summer skirt is from Mikarose and I’m telling Audi today that I need it for my summer wardrobe.  It’s long and modest, but light weight for the summer heat.  So I’ll be cool and fashionably modest at the same time!  Okay I just told him as I’m typing this and he agreed that I can make the purchase.  Not that I need his permission or anything.  😉  It’s just nice to keep him in the loop.  😉

Here’s another summer find from Mikarose:

S1309TealProduct_MED

I’m thinking it would be perfect for the summer heat outdoors as well!

(Note to self:  Talk to Audi about that maxi dress tomorrow.)

Both of the above can be dressed up, but are you looking for something just a bit more fancy?  Mikarose has fancy, too!

In fact Mikarose sent me this gorgeous number:

MDS001BlueLarge

I absolutely love the look and feel of this dress.  It’s light weight for the summer, but the beauty of the lace and flowing fabric really make it something special.  And the color?  Perfect for carrying over into the fall and winter.

You cannot go wrong with a piece of modest clothing from Mikarose.

I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect little black dress for quite a while.  A classic LBD—but not karaoke bar style.  Something I could wear to a wedding reception, date night, or a work party.  Mikarose has some drool-worthy little black dresses, all beautifully modest, trendy, and so perfect for the holidays!

Some of my favorite little black dresses from Mikarose:

Can you tell which one I picked?

Yup, I chose the Rebecca dress!  I think its PERFECT!  The ruffled details on the shoulders are totally chic and fashion-forward.  I love that it is a unique look that you don’t see on every modest dress, but it is still subtle enough to not look over-the-top.  It is made out of a high-quality and heavy weight knit, and I’m impressed with the construction and durability.  My only complaint is that I followed the Mikarose sizing chart for knit dresses exactly, and still wish I had picked a smaller size.  It came very roomy and long, so after some minor seamstress alterations, it fits much better, and I’m totally pleased.  If you order the Rebecca dress, just choose a size down, and you’ll love it!

Is a killer dress on your list for Santa this year?  Are you still looking for something eye-catching to wear to a holiday party?  Times a ticking, you better hurry!  Check out Mikarose’s beautiful shop of dazzling skirts, dresses, tops, and accessories that would be perfect for your holiday wardrobe!

One lucky dear is going to win $50 to spend at MIKAROSE!  FIFTY DOLLARS!  Merry Christmas!

I was first introduced to the most gorgeous dresses ages ago while on an outing to Costco. Okay it was really only a little over a year ago. So not ages. I was pregnant with Ruby and we were out in Utah visiting family that summer. Anyway, there was this traveling kiosk of clothes at the local Costco near my mother-in-law’s home. I kid you not these dresses made me stop and do a double take. They were just that gorgeous. And modest. And perfect. I just had to have one, two, all of them…  I was particularly drawn to this one:

Only remember that tiny little detail? I was pregnant.  I even told Audi that I needed to have it and wanted to get it.  But in what size?  I had no idea what size I would be in after giving birth.  Now that didn’t stop me from vowing that one day I would get one of those dresses. Or two. Or three.  Well, thank you Mikarose, because I now have this hanging in my closet:

I wore it to church on Sunday and I LOVE it.  I’ve never owned a sweater dress before and it’s so warm and soft.  The perfect dress for fall and winter.

Mikarose has the best selection of modest clothing for women.

One very lucky winner is going to receive a $50 gift certificate to spend at Mikarose!
