The Loom Boom {GIVEAWAY}

I feel like the perfect thing to keep a kid busy while using their imagination, is any type of craft. Drawing, painting, even letting them play by themselves with some legos. It let’s their imagination run wild and give them no limits. We all know kids test the limits ;-) I remember my mom would let me go to toys r’ us and pick out a toy and I would always pick out the make it yourself jewelry or hair ties or bedazzle your shirts (yes, I was a mega girly-girl) I really think that’s where I got my creativity from and love designing and doing different things now.

A few months ago my little cousins came up to me showing me these really awesome rubber band bracelets that they made. They each probably had 3 to 4 different types of rubber band bracelets. They then tried to sell me a few of them, haha, they told me they were going to start selling them to their friends in any design they wanted. Pretty awesome!

Remember when I told you about the Loomy Awards? Well they decided to give away a Loom Boom to a Dandy Giveaway fan!

The Loom Boom is a great place to store all those rubber band bracelets your kids are creating. I bet you are finding them every where and are just about ready to toss any of them in the trash that you step on or find randomly in a cabinet!

Here is what the creators have to say about The Loom Boom

“As moms (Katy & Lauren – co-founders), we loved the focus and creativity it provided our kids. Every new stitch our children learned produced more patterns, more colors and more creations. However, these bracelets were winding up everywhere, from our couch cushions to our dog’s mouth. It was a problem that needed solving! We stumbled upon a solution when a five-year-old housed his ever-growing collection of bracelets on a paper towel roll! What began with a simple concept has now developed into a first-of-its kind product intended to organize, display, transport and share. Sometimes children see things so clearly, and we jumped on his simple yet genius idea.”

The Loom Boom comes in fun different colors and each can hold up to 40 bracelets! The tube does come apart at the base so it is easy to grab different bracelets. The base also has an extra store part for bands, charms, clips and other items.

The Loom Boom features bright-colored tubes that can hold up to 40 bracelets. The tube is detachable from the base so loomers can transport and share, as well as have easy access to bracelets at the bottom. The base also contains extra storage for loom bands, charms, clips, and other spare parts.

They have thought of everything for The Loom Boom! So definitely check them out and enter below to win one for your kids and your sake! ;-)

Peekaboo-Chic {Giveaway}–CLOSED

So, it finally got “cold” here in Southern California. As in the high is only in the 50s and 60s during the day! I know this sounds ridiculous to those of you in below-freezing temps, but trust me, 50° seems really cold when last week we were strutting around in shorts because it was 80°! So, I’m all about layers right now–and have I got some cute layers for you!

Peekaboo-Chic is an adorable online boutique that specializes in “lavish layering for women, ” especially in regard to “skirt and legwear accentuation.” I bet you didn’t know you could accentuate your skirt or legwear, but oh, you can! All of their creations are handcrafted from patterns made by fashion designers in Utah, and these ladies know what they’re doing. Their creations are so cute!

I’m loving all of their Boot Socks! I never seem to have the right boots or the right outfit to pull this look off, but after seeing how cute these socks are, I sure want to! They also make boho-chic hair accessories, beautiful slip dresses that are perfect for that dress that is too low at the top and too high in the bottom, as well as slip extenders. I was sent the Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt in Gray to review, and can I just say, I LOVE the versatility of this skirt!

First of all, it can be worn as the obvious, a skirt. The top panel can be worn flat to lengthen the skirt or folded down to shorten it and add extra coverage of your middle section. The fabric is polyester/spandex so it’s a little clingy on my bum when worn this way, but if I pair it with a pair of leggings or tights, it lessens the effect.

High waist

Next, it can be worn as a slip extender. I’ve already praised the utility of such slip extenders, so I won’t say much more than they are awesome. I especially love this skirt as a slip extender because the fabric is super soft and stretchy but also a little silky, so it flows nicely underneath my skirt instead of bunching up or feeling uncomfortable like some slips can feel.

Lastly, it can be worn as an adorable frilly tunic! Like I said, the material is really soft and silky, so I had to wear a shirt underneath and put a belt around my waist to help the top stay up and finish the look, but I love the final product! Super put together and right on-trend.

Do I need to say that I love this skirt? For $36 you are getting an incredibly versatile piece that can be worn in a variety of ways and a variety of settings. Dress it up with some bling and wear it to a wedding; dress it down with a pair of jeans and wear it to Girls Night! It comes in a variety of cute shades including Cream, Camel, Black, Red and Mustard, so it can be worn with countless skirts, dresses, pants, tops and sweaters. The Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt can be purchased at But if you’re feeling lucky, enter below to win a skirt of your own in Black or Cream! And be sure to connect with them on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and Instagram to be in the know on the latest deals and steals!

Copy-Kids {Giveaway}–CLOSED

My kids are snack monsters. They eat breakfast and are asking for snacks no more than an hour later. We do the usual–crackers, apples, fruit snacks, granola bars, etc.–but I know they should be eating more fruits and especially vegetables in place of some of those carby foods. But, as most of you probably have experienced, getting kids to eat fruits and veggies can be tricky. That’s where Copy-Kids comes to the rescue!

Copy-Kids is a DVD that is focused on getting kids to eat fruits and vegetables. According to their website, “this product is a positive approach in the quest to get children eating healthy from the start.”  The idea behind the video is that kids will see other kids eating healthy foods and will want to copy them and eat the foods themselves. The film’s producer witnessed this phenomenon with her daughter and decided to try it on a large scale with other children through a video. I can tell you that it works!

The DVD features 12 7-minute segments, one for bell pepper, carrots, raspberries, broccoli, bananas, strawberries, tomato, cucumber, orange, avocado, apple, and blueberry. Several different adorable kids are filmed (unscripted) eating these foods and the result is hilarious! There’s one girl in the video who laughs hysterically throughout half the video, and both of my kids liked the “laughing girl.” They also liked trying to figure out what the kids were saying while they were talking and eating (not the best habit to emulate, but hey, if it gets them eating veggies…). At the end of the video, there is a discussion about eating healthy with Pediatrician Jay Gordon and some adorable outtakes with the kids. You can see a small clip of the video here:

Besides being hilarious, the video is very effective. My 4-year-old son wanted some veggies within the first 5 minutes of watching the movie. Both kids ate raw zucchini, which they’d only ever had cooked, but they wanted to eat it crunchy like the kids in the video. My two-year old was asking for avocado during the avocado section, but sadly, we didn’t have any, so she settled for raw broccoli instead (!).  Needless to say, we love the DVD and stand by its claim to get kids to eat healthier 100%!

The Copy-Kids DVD can be purchased on Amazon or for $19.95, with free shipping direct from the website. But one lucky winner will receive a DVD for free, just by entering below!

Win Your Own Copy of Copy-Kids!

** This giveaway is open to U.S. entries only.

** The winner of this giveaway will be drawn no later than the morning of December 23, 2013, and will be emailed within 24 hours.  If the winner does not respond within 48 hours, a new winner will be drawn.

Busy Babes Printables {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Here we are at the end of summer, with just a handful of schools (my mother-in-law’s included!) coming in at the tail end by starting their first day of school the day after Labor Day.  We’re finishing up our Back-to-School Friday reviews and giveaways here at Dandy Giveaway with a FABULOUS giveaway that is designed more for parents than for kids!

I’ve always enjoyed the beginning of each New Year that allows me to make resolutions and re-evaluate priorities, and I feel strongly that the beginning of each new school year gives me another opportunity to do that halfway through the year.  I used to be incredibly skilled at time management and completing tasks but these are two areas that I feel are incredibly lacking since I became a mom.  I’ve seen lots of great ideas for organization to help stay on track, and these ones from Busy Babes Printables are so thorough and comprehensive!

I came across Busy Babes Printables on Etsy and immediately fell in LOVE with the documents available at this shop!  The colors are eye-catching while still feeling calm and organized, and I love the font and type styles that make everything look clean and crisp.  The shop owner, Laura, is a “busy babe” herself as she just started graduate school this week, and I’m confident that her own experiences have helped her develop these documents that have absolutely everything you’d ever need!

Household Management Binder Kit - Home Management Binder - Over 50 Organizing Printables - INSTANT DOWNLOAD

Household Management Binder Kit:  This kit comes with over 50 organizing printables!  All together, these printables create a great Home Management Binder system for your home, keeping all of your important information organized and centralized in one place. (Plus, with over 50 printables, you’re saving a ton of money ordering all of these kits together!)

This Personalized Home Management Binder Kit comes with EACH of the above kits ALONG WITH the following documents:

PLANNERS & CALENDARS: – perpetual calendar pages, both horizontal and vertical designs – weekly family schedule (with sections for each member of the family) – perpetual ‘important dates’ page

IMPORTANT INFORMATION & CONTACTS: – emergency information page – important information page – contact pages – important phone numbers page

When Laura says that you’ll receive an INSTANT DOWNLOAD, she’s serious about it — I had my entire Household Management Binder Kit personalized and sent to my e-mail address immediately with all of these great documents!  I spent the afternoon looking through everything and am looking forward to taking the weekend to fill in all the important information and organize these documents.

I’m especially excited about the Clean Home Kit and the Menu Planning Kit for the next several weeks as we attempt to maintain some sense of normalcy in the midst of a little boy making his grand appearance soon.  I’ve been cooking extra at each meal and stocking my freezer with extra meals and baked goods to tide us over until family comes to visit, and I’m happy to know that I’ll have these materials available during the very sleep-deprived first month.

I’m also loving the Home Inventory Kit, especially after our home was broken into just a couple of months ago and some electronics were taken.  We had some serial numbers written down somewhere and had some serial numbers e-mailed to ourselves, but it would have been SO much easier to have all of that information right in our Household Management Binder to copy and send off with the detective.

One Dandy reader will win a Personalized Household Management Binder Kit from Busy Babes Printables!

KicKee Pants {Review}

Labor Day “officially” marks the end of summer, at least according to people who have kids in school. For those of us with kids little enough to be at home 24/7, summer’s still going, and will be for at least another month. But for those of you with school-age children, chances are, you’ve already done most of your back-to-school shopping, or maybe you’re going to finish it up this weekend with all the good Labor Day sales. But in case you’ve got just a few items of clothing left on your list or you’re looking for a gift for a friend (or something for yourself!) look no further than KicKee Pants!

KicKee Pants designs all its clothing with the idea that “children should feel unrestricted by their clothing, even when they are dressed up, and that apparel for little ones should celebrate the innocence of childhood!” I love this mantra! Kids should be able to run, skip, tumble and play in their clothes, but not have to live in grungy sweats 24/7 to be able to do so. KicKee Pants has an adorable girls line including dresses, rompers, pants, hoodies, tights and leggings, and much more. Check out just some of these cute designs!

Their boys line is equally cute (though we should say “cool” for the sake of the boys). I love their pajama line–they pair fun fabrics in bold colors for the bottoms with a coordinating top. Some tops have a large single-digit number on them. How fun would it be to get a set of pajamas with your new age for your birthday?!

We were sent the Print Long Sleeve Polo in River Lattice to review. The shirt is solidly constructed and fits just right. My son is currently wearing a size 4T/5T/Boys size 4, and the size 5 fit him perfectly. The sleeves seemed a bit short, but maybe my son just has monkey arms (his dad does, so it’s a possibility). The fabric (95% Viscose from bamboo, 5% Spandex) is SUPER soft and stretchy and feels like it would be so comfortable to wear. It is long sleeved which will be warm in the winter but is light (not thin) which is good for my always-running-around-and-getting-sweaty boy. I love the print–it is fun and unique, and the colors blend well together. The blue looks great on my son, too! There’s no way I could get him to put this on with a pair of jeans or khaki pants in this heat, but you can imagine how slick this would look paired with a pair of pants!

KicKee Pants also has a great Women’s line. They sell all sorts of cute Maternity Shirts as well as Nightgowns and Robes. The nightgowns are made out of the same fabric as the shirt we were sent, and believe me, I could LIVE in a nightgown made out of this fabric.  I really don’t think I’d ever change out of it because it’s just so soft and stretchy and dreamy. The website suggests pairing the Nightgown with a Newborn Outfit (which they also sell) as a shower gift–how perfect would that be?!

Little Pim Language DVDs {Giveaway}–CLOSED

There are several things in life that I learned while I was younger, decided I was “too busy” for them, quit, and now regret it. Playing the piano is one (seriously, what was I doing when I was 12 that made me “too busy” to practice?!), and learning Spanish is another. I took three years of Spanish in high school, and two semesters in college, but never kept up with it by practicing, so naturally, most of the Spanish I know is reduced to the menu at Taco Bell. Scientific research has shown that babies, toddlers and preschoolers are born able to learn more than one language with ease, so it makes sense to expose your children to language learning at a very early age. With this in mind, Little Pim was created.

Little Pim was created by Julia Pimsleur Levine, who was inspired by her own bilingual childhood. She knows how important it is for children to be bilingual in our global world and developed a new method of learning called The Entertainment Immersion Method. According to the website,

“Each of our educational DVDs has a unique, child-friendly theme, such as eating, playtime and feelings. The method teaches 360 words and phrases, providing the essential building blocks for language learning. A child only needs 500 words to be considered “conversational” in a language. Babies, toddlers and kids respond enthusiastically to Little Pim’s format, which combines animated and live-action videos.”

French gift set

Little Pim is the leading method of teaching children a second language, and I can see why! We chose to review a DVD in Spanish and were sent Disc 6 of the Spanish series, “I Can Count!” The first time we watched it, my 3 1/2 year old was hooked. He laughed at the Panda and his friends, and seemed to be really engrossed in the Spanish parts. When the movie was over, I saw him look at me, get a sneaky look on his face, then walk over to the DVD remote. I didn’t know what he was doing (obviously something naughty), until he pressed the play button and started the movie over again! The second time through he was repeating phrases and actually counting in Spanish. I couldn’t believe it! We’ve watched it a few times since, but haven’t watched it in a week or so, yet just today I heard him count his chicken nuggets in Spanish at lunch!  I am sold.

Each DVD is around 30 minutes long, and features silly cartoon sections with Little Pim and his friends, and then the instructional parts with videos of real people and things. The quick cartoon pieces with Little Pim and his friends are fun and instantly hooked my kids,  keeping them interested. The Spanish instruction parts are pretty clear, showing a video of something, sometimes circling it in red, and then saying its name in Spanish. Most of the time my son would know what it was they were pointing to, though occasionally it was slightly unclear; for instance, he’d say “feet” but they were really saying the word for “toes.” Luckily, the DVD comes with subtitles in English so I could read along and help him out. You can see samples of videos in every language here, or you can watch a short video about Little Pim below:

Little Pim has so many products to choose from, including Gift Sets in all languages, Digital Downloads so you can watch the DVDs on your smartphone or tablet, and Apps in several languages for the iPhone/iPod, iPad and LeapPad. If you follow Little Pim on facebook, twitter and pinterest, you can receive special discounts and offers. If you can’t decide which set to buy just yet, enter our giveaway to try one out first!

Somewhat Simple’s “Life According to Me” e-book {Giveaway} – CLOSED

My four-year-old misses the cut-off to start kindergarten in the fall by just 10 days, and it’s killing me!  We checked in to the school district about having him tested to start early, but we haven’t heard very positive outcomes from other parents who have tried in previous years.  When I figure, though, that I’ll be having a baby just weeks after school starts, that we’ll be visiting family for the entire month of January, and that we’re moving to another country in March, I guess that it really isn’t the worst thing to wait another year before sending him off to school.  (Plus, I think I would really miss him if he were gone for a full school day all week long!)

I do plan to homeschool him this next year for kindergarten, in hopes of him starting right into first grade next year.  I’ve taught elementary school before and have lots of resources and materials, and my little guy is a bright kid who is pretty far ahead in reading and math already.  One area, though, that I know is going to require some extra assistance this next year?  His writing.

I came across the Somewhat Simple website through (what else??) Pinterest, and I’ve been hooked since I discovered them six months ago.  I added the site to my Google Reader page and have loved seeing lots of great ideas throughout the week.  They have lots of posts under categories such as Projects, Food, Home & Garden, Seasons & Holidays, Lifestyle, and Promotions, and I love browsing through the ads on their main webpage to find other sites with similar interests and content.

By the way, if you had been following Dandy Giveaway using Google Reader (which is no longer available as of the beginning of this month — boo hoo!), take a look at following us through Bloglovin’ or Feedly instead, along with keeping up through Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.  We don’t want you to miss out on our great giveaways and reviews!

Somewhat Simple offers a 30-page e-book entitled “Life According to Me” that will be perfect for my son to use in the upcoming months to spark some interest on his writing!  The fun colors and easy-to-read font make it perfect for young budding writers, and the topics for each day give a little more direction to those who would otherwise “have nothing to write about”.  The pages include questions and prompts about being kind, watching TV, surprises, hobbies, getting dressed, and more!  The open-ended nature of these questions make this book applicable for most school-age writers and also make for some great pre-writing for preschoolers.  Neither the colors nor the daily topics are too gender-specific, so this would be perfect for either boys or girls.  There are also sections for them to write notes to a parent/family member and then for that person to write back.

And, a few of my favorite things:  (1) Life According to Me is only $5.95!!  (2) This e-book is sent electronically, meaning that you can print out the pages that you need/want and not worry about the others!  You also can print a number of pages for multiple children or for multiple books for the same child!  (3) The e-book pages can be printed using your color printer.  I cannot tell you how many times I’ve bought e-books to download, only to find that it really is necessary to have them sent off to a printer in order to get quality pages.

Enter below to win a download of Life According to Me from Somewhat Simple — we’ll have TWO winners!
