Little Tikes Garden Chairs {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Can you tell that we like to read?

388117_10151412362010894_2144559091_n

Yes, we like to read lots.

All winter long and into the early spring we were shut ins around here.  So all of our reading took place indoors.  We didn’t even venture out to the library.  No siree.  Why is that?  First, it was super cold outside.  Second, it was super cold outside.  Third, it was super cold outside.  Okay you get the idea.  It was super cold outside.  Then… Don’t even get me started on the amount of snow that was dumped on us.  Loads and loads.  All winter long.  I thought that it would never end.  We even got a snow storm when I was postpartum in the hospital with Cache.  Oops. I think I must have left that out of Cache’s birth story.   Yes, I know that I forgot to put that part in.  Basically a HUGE snow storm decided to come rolling in the day after he was born and we weren’t sure if we were ever going to get to leave the hospital.  For some reason when it snows in St. Louis the ENTIRE city shuts down.  Does that happen in other cities?  Anyway, back to our love of books… Now that the weather is simply glorious outside (not too hot and not too humid yet) we can take our reading outdoors.

My friends over at Little Tikes sent Banjo and Ruby these adorable garden chairs.

The chairs are the perfect size for their little tushies and are now their favorite reading spots in the backyard.

Djubi {Review}

Remember how I posted about those scary bunnies?  How I publicly aired my fears of creepy clowns and the Easter Bunny?  No?  You don’t remember?  I mean seriously.  How could you forget???  I’m still having nightmares about it.  This year the “bunny” brought Banjo the Original Djubi Game. (Thank you, Djubi for sending us this dandy toy for the boy’s Easter basket.) catch6   If you are looking for a fun backyard game then here it is.  This is it.   Good thing I’m posting this just in time for summer, eh? original-djubi-game

Banjo and Ruby both love it.

Here they are showing their Boompa how it’s done:

catch5 catch This is at my parents house.  Don’t they have the coolest setup with that lake behind their house?!  My kids love spending time out there. Djubi is perfect for teaching kids of all ages how to aim and catch.  Adults like it, too! catch2 catch3 The Djubi ball has a band on it that when hooked on the handle and pulled back will then soar through the air for the other player to catch.  Such a unique concept and fun for all ages!

Go HERE for the stores where you can find Djubi!

Monkey Face

I’m so very glad that it decided to turn chilly around here again.  Not.  Will this winter ever end???  Okay so I just might be exaggerating slightly.  It’s not like it’s snowing outside or anything.  It’s not exactly freezing.  Okay it’s only in the 40’s right now here in St. Louis today.  But that’s cold, right?  It should NEVER be in the 40’s in April.  At least not in the Lou!  Good thing toADORN sent this monkey hat for Banjo.  He has been able to wear it.  In APRIL.

IMG_8966.pngIt’s super cute though, right?

Here’s to hoping he won’t be wearing it in May.  😉

LEGOLAND Kansas City {Giveaway} – CLOSED

legoland

My Banjo is now 6-years-old.  It’s weird to think that my first born is that old.  He’s like a little man who is almost finished with kindergarten.  So very strange for me!  In past years we have always had a birthday party for him.  I was trying to be that mom who threw those big, fabulous parties with lots of friends invited.  Yes, that mom.  I even invited the siblings of the friends, because I didn’t want anyone to feel left out.  Is that a little crazy?  Maybe a little excessive?  (Now there’s nothing really wrong with being that mom.  There are plenty of moms who can pull it off and more power to them.  I’m just not good at being that mom.  For sanity sake I had to take a step back, evaluate what’s truly important, and just say no.)

This year?  No more.  We have three littles now.  All will have a birthday.  All will eventually want to have a party.  All cannot have a party in the same year.  That would be maddening.  I can’t plan for such things.  I can’t decorate for such things.  I can’t organize for such things.  I can’t do such things.  It’s just not going to happen times three every year.  Nope.  Not going to do it.  So I’m thinking that each child has a “friend party” every other year.  Maybe every 3rd year.  Just. Not. Every. Year.

That’s why this year we decided to take Banjo (and the other two littles) out of town for a surprise birthday weekend extravaganza.  Banjo expected to have a party.  We told him we had a special adventure planned instead of a party.  It was a weekend all about him, things he likes, and together as a family.  The best part of celebrating in this way?  Family time!

We went to LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Kansas City!  LEGOLAND agreed on us coming for a visit, my doing a review on the blog, and giveaway away FOUR tickets.  You will find that giveaway below.  First, here are just a few of our favorite highlights from the place Banjo now thinks is the bestest birthday celebration ever.  At the LEGOLAND in Kansas City you can…

Nohi Kids {Giveaway} – CLOSED

logo

When it comes to my kid’s clothing I’m kind of a fabric snob.  It has to be soft.  Scratchy?  Not happening.  It has to be functional and easy to take care of in terms of laundry.  Who really wants to take the kid’s clothes to the dry cleaners?  It has to be cute.  This means cute fabric that aren’t found everywhere.  That’s why I’m soooo very glad that I found Nohi Kids.  For starters… Their clothing is organic.  Translation:  Super soft.  Next… Their clothing is machine washable.  Excellent!  Lastly… The prints on the fabric???  Absolutely.  Adorable.

See.  Told you.  Absolutely.  Adorable.

I think the above images are my favorite part about the clothing from Nohi.

And…

2.) There are so many different styles all in that same fabric!

So you will definitely find the perfect outfit at Nohi Kids.

Jungle Boogie

It was beyond beautiful outside yesterday.  Audi was in lectures all day and got out of work early at 3pm.  (Every so often he gets to spend all day in lectures on medical topics like:  Hearing loss, throat cancer, etc.  Exciting, right?)  So the kids and I picked him up from work and we headed to the St. Louis Zoo.  How better to spend a glorious early evening outside?

995741_10151478709015894_1749258005_n

Here in St. Louis we have one of the top zoos in the nation.  And…  It’s free!  That’s right there is absolutely no entrance fee to our zoo and that’s not just for residents.  If you come to St. Louis on vacation then you too can experience our zoo for free!  (Along with our free art museum and free science center.)  Thanks to the generous donations of so many wonderful, giving St. Louisans.

Every summer the zoo has bands perform in the evenings.  It’s always packed.  We of course picked to go to the zoo on band evening.  😉

Getting Older

263319_10151456846295894_931132079_n

Where does the time seriously go?  Only yesterday it seems that I was on bed rest and awaiting the arrival of our little “Banjo”.  How did he exactly become 5 years old already?  That’s mean I’m how old?  I shudder at the thought…  I am now the mother of a preschool graduate:

941226_10151456932940894_851786500_n

If the past 5 years went by this fast then very soon it will be junior high graduate, then high school graduate, and so on.  Slow down!  I did tell Banjo that he will have at least 3 more graduations in his life to end with college.  Hopefully there will be a second college level graduation added in there, because we aim high in this family.  😉

I do look forward to the coming years of graduations, but for now I just want to focus on the here and now…

My sweet ones just chilling together:

And of course remembering how they were just a little over a year ago:

No matter how many years go by they will always be my babies.  🙂

BabyLit {Review}

If you have been following the Dandy for a while then you know that in our household we like to read.  Okay we don’t just like it.  We love it.  Like literary obsessed around here.  This image from our study proves it:

388117_10151412362010894_2144559091_n

A few months back I ordered the most adorable books for the little Miss.  Simply perfectly dandy to put in her Easter basket:

24745  31736

So after getting those marvelous beauties I just had to contact Gibbs Smith (home of BabyLit) to see if they wanted to be featured on Dandy Giveaway.  And they did.  And they sent me some more lovely reads for our kiddos.  And here they are:

644607_10151412214045894_2102511524_n

Each book teaches your little one the basics of colors, counting, opposites, weather, and more!  There are so many different classics to choose from:

24776  22024

34836  25759

New additions to the classics line (like Anna Karenina) will be released this fall, so be sure to mark your calendars!  🙂  I have a feeling that I’ll be adding more to our collection very soon.  🙂

I mean our littlest reader is already a major fan of the works of Austen:

Have a dandy week!

Joovy Nook Highchair {Review}

How I wish this high chair had existed in 2008, because we would have bought it:

46_1_

Fortunately for us my friends over at Joovy sent us our newbie in 2013!

65917_10151330595070894_1272267397_n

I love how they take just such good care of me!  🙂

The high chair we purchased when Banjo was a wee babe has definitely not withstood the test of time.  If someone had told me that the plastic would turn yellow I would have listened.  Also, the seat of our first high chair wasn’t quality looking at all, so I should have known that it wouldn’t hold up.  But the Nook from Joovy?

Now it’s high quality and is quite stylish.  It’s sleek design fits perfectly in our little nook in our kitchen!

This beauty is definitely not just a highchair.  The seat is far too comfy for that!

313388_10151355188570894_845278915_n

It’s not just a place to eat either.  It’s also an entertainment chair.

Can you tell that Ruby love it, too?

My favorites about this sweet chair…

The cup holder and removable tray insert.

46_5_

Also, how with just the press of a button the tray swings open making my life so much easier when getting Ruby in and out of the chair!

Plus, the leatherette seat cover comes off and can be put in the washing machine!

Yep so much to love about the new Joovy Nook Highchair.  It folds flat for travel:

And like all the Joovy products the Nook comes in a bunch of fun colors:

We love you, Joovy!
