Cheesecloth Ghosts

When Audi was a young’un in Sugar House, Utah he enjoyed making cheesecloth ghosts with his family.  I had never heard of such a thing.  So over the weekend we had a grand time reliving Audi’s childhood and creating some Halloween decor that our house has been lacking.  These ghosts are really fun and easy to make.  Plus, we had practically all the necessities to make them (except for the cheesecloth) right here in the house!  Meaning these guys are super friendly on the decorating budget!  Casper was a friendly ghost, right?

Here’s what we did in pictures:

You can seriously use anything to create your ghost form.  Balloons, bottles, plastic forks for the arms, etc.  We used aluminum foil for the head and attached with duct tape.  Doesn’t duct tape have just so many uses???  Then drape your form with the cheesecloth.  And then… As you can see we used spray Mod Podge, because that’s what I had in my craft room.  Spray starch or hair spray would also work just fine.   Just spray all over and let dry.  Then repeat once the first application is dry.  After your ghost is completely dry you can carefully remove the form and you are left with a ghostly apparition that stands up all on his own!

Halloween Decorating Obsessiveness

Can you tell that I have a 4 year-old obsessed with perfect order in all things???

{Giveaway} Old Barn Rescue Company ***ENDED***

Only six weeks (or somewhere there abouts) until she makes her grand entrance!  Wow.  Where does the time go?  I’m somewhat hoping for 4 weeks left, but at the same time we need more time to get everything ready!  It has been quite the dilemma around here getting baby girl’s room finished.  We decided a while ago to do a bird theme with yellow and grey colors.  Audiologist man has been busy painting away.  Two accent walls are yellow and two are white.  That’s what I “thought” I wanted, but now I’m thinking the walls would look better all in yellow.  Unfortunately audiologist man isn’t happy with that thought, because 1.) he already bought tons of the white paint AND 2.) it’s already painted!   I totally see his reasoning and agree with him.  After all I was being totally irrational, right?  But at the same time…  I felt like the world was about to end.  So, what’s an overly emotional and hormonal pregnant gal to do?  Ask her friend’s decorating advice of course!  (She’s a fantastic decorator!)  Her answer?  Get some cute bird wall vinyl decals in yellow and grey to use on the white walls!  Isn’t that an awesome idea?  Plus, it merges all of the colors of the room!  So the hunt began and here is what I found:

All in yellow and grey of course.  Don’t you LOVE LOVE LOVE it???  🙂   I know that you are asking where in the world did I find such cuteness???  Well, the answer is Old Barn Rescue Company.

This shop carries some really unique wall vinyl!  Not looking for birds to decorate a nursery?  Well, well, well…

{Giveaway} Scentsy with Erica Powers ***ENDED***

Have you thought of what to give your neighbors for the holidays this year?  Are you doing any baking to give them?  Frankly I just do not have the time to make candy and cookies this year.  I just have too much going on.  Plus, our neighbors are really nice grandparent type people, so they always give Banjo actual gifts that would be like what Santa would bring him!  You know… toys, books, etc.  They give us nice home decor type gifts, too!  So somehow I feel bad just giving them cookies anyway.  So we tend to add them to our holiday gift giving list and buy them something little that they can enjoy this time of year.  Do you want to know what we are giving to our next door and across the street neighbors this year for Christmas?  Well, I’m going to tell you, so I sure hope none of them read my blog!  I don’t even think they know that I’m a blogger, though.  So that’s a good thing!   🙂    This year we are giving our neighbors this plug-in burner and some holiday scents for it:

From Scentsy of course!  I just love Scentsy, so I’m really  excited to give them their gifts!

It’s my favorite!  I’m thinking that I need a new holiday one for myself…

Fortunately for me Erica has got ’em!  There’s also a ton of other burners to fit just about every holiday!

See…  Burners from Scentsy make excellent holiday gifts!

Next there are tons and tons of different scents to choose from.  Believe me when I say that the scents are divine!  All you need is one little square and it will just fill the room with yumminess!

Halloween Theme

I am huge fan of dressing up as a family in theme costumes!  I’ve only been able to get audiologist man to go along with this a couple of times.  He’s more inclined to dress in theme if we have a Halloween party to attend.  Unfortunately for me we have only went to a couple of costume parties in the 9 years we have been married.  Most of the time we get together with friends for October 31st and the kids just all dress up.  But I dream of throwing the ultimate Halloween party one of these days!  Maybe next year…

The first year we were married there was a work party to attend and we went in 50’s costumes similar to these:

Then for Banjo’s first Halloween we partied with friends and I went as Velma:

Audiologist man as Shaggy:

And Banjo as little Scooby:

All of the above (and many more) group costumes can be found at Pure Costumes.  Also, if you make a purchase from their Facebook Store then you will get 5% off!

Oh and how could I forget…

Wasn’t he the cutest little Scooby ever???  🙂

{Giveaway} My Grafico Arts & Crafts ***ENDED***

At my house you will find loads and loads of scrapbooking supplies.  There’s some in my craft room upstairs and then boxes of it in the basement.  It’s quite sad really.  There’s so many items that literally have never even been used.  I’m talking paper, stamps, die cuts… you name it and I have it.  I think my problem is I would buy these massive packaged of paper thinking that I would use it, but then really only needed it for a few specific sheets.  Then I went through this stamping phase where I started collecting all of these different stamps and ink.  I don’t even want to think how much I spent on it all!  And now where does it sit?  In a box.  I’ve often wondered what it would be like to have scrapbooking supplies right at your fingertips.  No more of this traveling out to the store and having to buy big packs of paper just to get the few select ones you need or all of those die cuts…You can even forget about throwing your money away!  How you might ask?  With My Grafico Arts & Crafts!  It’s THE place to get those supplies digitally and at major savings!  All you have to do is print from the comfort of your own home.  Here have a look at just a sampling of what’s available at My Grafico Arts & Crafts:

The Holidays Are Upon Us! (almost)

Wow.  Can you believe that the second week of October is under a week away?  I cannot.  Have you decorated yet for Halloween?  I still haven’t done this.  The time just keeps ticking by and I’m already feeling soooo behind in my fall/winter holiday preparations.  There are just so many holidays coming up!  I have some ideas for decorating and planning for the upcoming holiday season that I’m hoping to accomplish.  Ready for the countdown???

#10:  First up… I haven’t went to an orchard yet to do some apple picking.  That’s a fave of mine in the fall, so I must be really dragging to keep me away from that!  (This pregnancy is making me soooooo incredibly tired!)  My dream is to learn how to make the bestest apple pie.  But maybe I should start out with something on a smaller scale like this:

I’m thinking that this would be fabulous to give to the ladies I visit teach.  🙂

#9:  Must investigate the best place to get pumpkins and stock up on my fall decorating staple!  I love this pumpkin decorating idea:

Just the right amount of bling!

#8:  I absolutely adore this use of pumpkins and I’m totally doing this for the month of November around here:

Can’t you totally picture them as planters outdoors, but also centerpieces on the Thanksgiving Day table???  I can!

#7:  Speaking of Thanksgiving Day tables…

I really need to investigate how to perfect homemade stuffing.  Sorry Stovetop!

#6:  Having a party?  Then the holiday party invitations are a necessity!

#5:  Another of my personal faves is the Christmas holiday decor that’s DIY:

#4:  Don’t forget about DIY holiday favors:

And…

#3:  Ornaments:

The retro look is so in right now and these are eco friendly, since they are make from cardboard tubes!

And some pipe cleaners that you probably already have in your craft room.  🙂

#2:  Oh and there’s always holiday thank you’s:

The top holiday planning that needs to be done sooner than later???  Drum roll please….

#1:  I really need to decide already on the holiday cards I will be sending out to family and friends.  Gotta get them ordered, addresses, and sent before December 1st!  Now here’s some really unique Christmas cards:

It’s a magnet that your recipients can hang on the refrigerator!  Now that’s my kind of way cute and dandy holiday card!  Be sure and check out all the dandy Storkie Christmas cards to find your favorite.

Good luck with all your holiday planning!  I best get started around here.  I’ve got A LOT to do!!!

It’s October!!! Which means…  My favorite season of the year!  I love the fall colors.  I love the cooler weather.  I love the hot apple cider.  I love the pumpkins and most importantly HALLOWEEN!  Are you ready for it?  I wish that I could say that I was already, but that wouldn’t be true.  Do I have my harvest smelling candle burning?  No.  Do I have the Halloween decorations up?  No.  Are they even out of storage?  No.  Do we have our Halloween costumes all decided on?  No.  I feel like such a slacker!  Sure it’s only the 3rd of October, but then I see all these other great blogs that have it all together already… and I feel way behind!  Let’s get started on the easy part first shall we?  Deciding on a costume for Banjo.  That part is made easy with the help of Pure Costumes, because they have every toddler Halloween costume imaginable!

Over the summer Banjo requested to be Thomas the Tank Engine and they’ve got him:

Last month it was Woody from Toy Story:

Last week it was a pirate:

This week?  This guy:

Fortunately for me Pure Costumes has got ’em all!  But can anyone give me a suggestion on how to get Banjo to decide???  Stay tuned…
