Apostolic Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Hey all you winter fashionistas, need something to keep you warm that also has a touch of pizzaz? I sure did! And since I’m of the church going faction I really wanted a coat that would be long enough to cover my legs and add another layer of warmth when I’m wearing a dress.Apostolic Clothing happens to have dozens of floor length dresses, jackets and long coats perfect for sprucing up your winter wardrobe and they are adding new styles all the time!  I love coming back to their site and seeing the fresh inventory just waiting to dazzle my closet (ha).

If you haven’t heard of Apostolic Clothing before you’re really missing out.  They are an awesome store that specializes in modest modern & vintage style clothing (thinks trendy patterns, flattering cuts, and long stylish dresses and skirts).

Anyway, I was over the moon when Apostolic Clothing asked if I would like to review a winter item, following my review of their ballerina skirt a few months ago (you can read about that here).  I choose the Adora, one of their long dress coats time.

This coat drops to just below my knees, and has a quilted/ruched type design that is elastic and pulled the coat around my curves, making the coat also resemble a dress.  Actually if your look at the picture on Apostolic Clothing website they’ve accented the coat with a black belt making it look even more dress like (though the belt does not come with the coat).

It has a high popped up collar that rests just under your jaw and is great for wind protection along the sides and back of your neck though it doesn’t close in the front so if you’re going for warmth with your fashion you’ll want to pair it with a scarf.

It’s also a really light weight coat, (made from 100% polyester) I would say it could easily fall in the jacket category and is ideal for warmer winters days when you don’t want to haul around a heavy bulky coat, but you still want protection from wind. I’m quite tall (5’10”) and I found the sleeves were just a touch short for me, ending just above my wrist. I ordered a medium and if I were to do it again I would probably go up a size just for the sleeve length, but I suspect not many of you are going to experience the same height issues.

Finally this coat comes in tons of colors (blue, black, white, red, purple) and sizes S – 1XL.  So if you’re looking for something to add some color to the bleakness of winter one of these colorful numbers might be just the thing.

Check out Apostolic Clothing for more great modest winter styles, perfect for Christmas and ideal for winter weather.

Apostolic Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

Do you ever feel like all the cute dresses are super short and/or show a lot of skin?  Unfortunately, I do – and while I adore dressing up, I’m just not comfortable showing that much skin.  (I’m no spring chicken over here). To make matters worse so much of the clothing marketed as “modest” looks like someone shot the couch. *cringe* *shutter*   But really, if you want a skirt that covers your knees and a dress that has sleeves and no major (reveling) cutout, your options are pretty limited and generally pretty bland. (Thank goodness for maxi dresses right?).

Anyway I came across an ad for Apostolic Clothing and I was sucked in like sand and a shop vacuum.  There is such a thing as stylish modern clothing that also doesn’t make me look like an 80 year old grandma???

Apostolic Clothing is amazing!  All of their clothes will keep you covered but for once you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of style to wear a dress. (They even have a bunch of stylish plus size clothing!) and cute vintage looks to boot. Here is a little preview of what I’m talking about:

I couldn’t wait to work with Apostolic Clothing, and I was so excited about the review I literately had their site up for two days while I was narrowing down my options for a review item.  Toward the end when I had my list narrowed down to four options I finally had to have my husband wight in. Ha!

I’ve seen these tulle skirts around and I think they are dreamy. I was thrilled at the chance to review one, and the opportunity to channel my inner ballerina.

The skirt has six layers, one very wide tulle layers, four more narrow tulle layers and one satin like layer that reaches just below your knees on the very inside of the skirt so the whole thing isn’t see through. The top of the skirt has the tulle folded over an elastic band.

One thing to note is the skirt is a one side fits all, which always makes me a little concerned.  I thought it seemed a bit tight when I first pulled it on, but I didn’t notice it being uncomfortable or pressing while I was wearing it.  The skirt is also really full (which I love) but the fluff also created kind of a faux muffin top because it puffed out so dramatically at your waist.  Some of the girls in the pictures had a shirt tucked into the top of the skirt and it looked really cute on them but I found having a dressy shirt that would cover the very top of the skirt worked a lot better for me.

The sweeping folds of fabric were a lot of fun and the whole skirt kind of blows softly around you while you walk. The skirt comes in a handful of colors (black, maroon, cream, pink) and is a perfect transition piece for fall because it’s so light weight but it reaches a little lower on your legs and still has some substance to it.

In short it’s a fantastic skirt.  My inner ballerina is thrilled to be wearing it and it makes me feel really dressed up while still being comfortable.

If you’re looking for some fashionable but conservative clothing or if you just love vintage fashion you’ve got to check out Apostolic Clothing!

Fancy Ewe {Giveaway} – Closed

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

One of the reasons why I love the cooler weather..DRESSES! I could wear a dress every single day if I could. When I was younger, my punishment wasn’t being grounded, it was that I had to wear pants all day. Haha, no joke. A dress just makes me feel so girly and fun.

I don’t wear dresses as often as I would like to because I can rarely find them 1. that doesn’t cost me my whole pay check 2. fit just right in all the right places 3.covers me up in the right places. If I find a store that can fit all 3 of those things then you know I am going back to that store often!

fancyewe

I am stoked I discovered Fancy Ewe!! Their dresses are just breath taking! Not only do they offer dresses, but aprons, accessories, jewelry and bags. Fancy Ewe has been designing adorable aprons for 6 years and recently decided to put their talents into modest beautiful dresses! You may have seen their dresses appear on Shabby Apple.

Belle_De_Jour_Mint_Green_2

Their dresses are just stunning! I had a hard time choosing from the styles, I had to bring in the sister squad (all 4 of my sisters) to get their opinions. Even my husband had to help me choose! Haha.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I decided to go with the “Bouquet” dress and it definitely did not disappoint. It literally fit me like a glove and I have never received so many compliments on one dress. The length, the sleeves, the bodice, I felt like I had it handmade just to my measurements. Seriously!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fancy Ewe fits true to size, ladies! So now wondering if you need to go up or down a size because of the material or design. And ordering this was so easy and a great experience. Fancy Ewe was able to talk me through my measurements and what she thought would work best for me. My dress arrived in the exact time they had told me (actually it arrived a day earlier, even better!) I am leaving for California in a few weeks and you bet this dress will be worn multiple times!

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Fancy Ewe is seriously so incredibly sweet! They not only are giving away one dress of your choice but they are also giving a special discount to Dandy Giveaway readers. They are discounting any dress to $45, normally at $60. You will need to email Fancy Ewe directly to receive this discount ( do not order directly from the site) Email: fancyewe09@gmail.com Make sure you mention that you are from Dandy Giveaway blog! I really hope you all take full advantage of this amazing discount and snag this “Bouquet” dress. Like I said, the fit = amazing!

The little guy is 3-months today.  Wow.  That went by fast!  I still haven’t given you his birth story.  In time.  In time.  🙂   Definitely before he turns one.  Deal?  His birth was a very memorable one (remember only 5 minutes after we got to the hospital), so it will not be forgotten anytime soon.  😉  Tomorrow he will be given a name (for the records of our church) and a blessing.  We kept him home from church for a while, because of cold/flu season.  It’s safe to take him now.  So it’s time to get this boy blessed!  When I was searching around for a little blessing outfit for him I came across One Small Child.  This shop is known for their christening gowns.  It’s no wonder that they have so many different styles to choose from.

onesmallchild.png

Each one more gorgeous than the next.

Did you know that One Small Child has more than just blessing outfits?  It’s true.  So very true.  One Small Child actually sent us this adorably dandy gift set for our newest arrival:

Isn’t it adorable???  The older two are certainly having a blasts playing with the new baby.  And Banjo…  Well, he claimed that little blue suitcase for his very own.  It’s the perfect size for him to keep all of his treasures in.

Caralase {GIVEAWAY} CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

With the season change and Spring being so short, I like to look for things that can easily transition into Summer also. I feel like the key to a great spring/summer outfit is comfort and versatility. If I can wear a shirt 3 different ways then you better know I am buying that sucker! If that shirt is going to stay in place and I am not constantly tugging and pulling at it to make it from showing to much then it will definitely end up in my closet!

caralase

Caralase has all of that and more! Comfort, versatility and just about the most darling clothing items ever. When they asked me which item I wanted to review I probably sat on their website for a good hour trying to figure out which one I would wear the most (which happened to be 99% of them) and which one I could transition from Spring to Summer.

caralase2

Two words came to mind when I saw Caralase clothing line, Soft and whimsical. Everything you see looks so comfortable and light and airy. Perfect for the cool Spring day and then bring them right into a breezy Summer night. Now that’s my kind of boutique!

caralase3 caralase4

What I love most about Caralase is that they have the basic things you need in your closet (tee’s, boyfriend tee, long sleeve) but they aren’t just plain jane. Like this Pink long sleeve tunic above, ooo I am just swooning over the lace finish. And every girl needs a fun maxi. The fit on this one is so slimming with the fun bright print!

I also really like how they offer a variety of pictures of the item. The other day I was looking at a shirt on another site and there were no pictures of what it looked like on. I was immediately drawn away from that site. I like to see what it looks like on from different angles so I can get an idea of how it will fit.

caralase6

I love love LOVE my cobalt draped slub cardigan . The fit is amazing. Especially around the arms, sleeves in cardigans never tend to hit my wrists but this one hit at the right spot. Making it look like it actually fits haha. I love that it is so light and airy (I told you!) and I can wear it in the Summer time for those late night BBQ’s or hanging outside chatting.

caralase5

I think I’ve already worn this cardigan 3 or 4 times and each time in a different style. I’ve worn it with a skirt and heels (my favorite) and as you see, in a more casual way with boyfriend shirts and chucks/flats. Like I said, anything that you can wear multiple ways is a win in my book!

Nohi Kids {Giveaway} – CLOSED

When it comes to my kid’s clothing I’m kind of a fabric snob.  It has to be soft.  Scratchy?  Not happening.  It has to be functional and easy to take care of in terms of laundry.  Who really wants to take the kid’s clothes to the dry cleaners?  It has to be cute.  This means cute fabric that aren’t found everywhere.  That’s why I’m soooo very glad that I found Nohi Kids.  For starters… Their clothing is organic.  Translation:  Super soft.  Next… Their clothing is machine washable.  Excellent!  Lastly… The prints on the fabric???  Absolutely.  Adorable.

See.  Told you.  Absolutely.  Adorable.

I think the above images are my favorite part about the clothing from Nohi.

1.) That fabric is too precious.

And…

2.) There are so many different styles all in that same fabric!

So you will definitely find the perfect outfit at Nohi Kids.

What did Nohi Kids send me recently???  These two outfits for my two littlest littles:

Peekaboo-Chic {Giveaway}–CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

So, it finally got “cold” here in Southern California. As in the high is only in the 50s and 60s during the day! I know this sounds ridiculous to those of you in below-freezing temps, but trust me, 50° seems really cold when last week we were strutting around in shorts because it was 80°! So, I’m all about layers right now–and have I got some cute layers for you!

logo

Peekaboo-Chic is an adorable online boutique that specializes in “lavish layering for women, ” especially in regard to “skirt and legwear accentuation.” I bet you didn’t know you could accentuate your skirt or legwear, but oh, you can! All of their creations are handcrafted from patterns made by fashion designers in Utah, and these ladies know what they’re doing. Their creations are so cute!

clothesboots

I’m loving all of their Boot Socks! I never seem to have the right boots or the right outfit to pull this look off, but after seeing how cute these socks are, I sure want to! They also make boho-chic hair accessories, beautiful slip dresses that are perfect for that dress that is too low at the top and too high in the bottom, as well as slip extenders. I was sent the Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt in Gray to review, and can I just say, I LOVE the versatility of this skirt!

skirt

First of all, it can be worn as the obvious, a skirt. The top panel can be worn flat to lengthen the skirt or folded down to shorten it and add extra coverage of your middle section. The fabric is polyester/spandex so it’s a little clingy on my bum when worn this way, but if I pair it with a pair of leggings or tights, it lessens the effect.

High waist

folded

Next, it can be worn as a slip extender. I’ve already praised the utility of such slip extenders, so I won’t say much more than they are awesome. I especially love this skirt as a slip extender because the fabric is super soft and stretchy but also a little silky, so it flows nicely underneath my skirt instead of bunching up or feeling uncomfortable like some slips can feel.

slip

Lastly, it can be worn as an adorable frilly tunic! Like I said, the material is really soft and silky, so I had to wear a shirt underneath and put a belt around my waist to help the top stay up and finish the look, but I love the final product! Super put together and right on-trend.

tunic

Do I need to say that I love this skirt? For $36 you are getting an incredibly versatile piece that can be worn in a variety of ways and a variety of settings. Dress it up with some bling and wear it to a wedding; dress it down with a pair of jeans and wear it to Girls Night! It comes in a variety of cute shades including Cream, Camel, Black, Red and Mustard, so it can be worn with countless skirts, dresses, pants, tops and sweaters. The Bring on the Frill Layering Skirt can be purchased at Peekaboo-chic.com. But if you’re feeling lucky, enter below to win a skirt of your own in Black or Cream! Repeat Possessions {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Disclosure: This could be a sponsored post or contain affiliate links (which means I earn a percentage of the sale), but all opinions are strictly my own.

I’ve heard that French women are excellent at dressing effortlessly and appearing young, slim and stylish throughout their lives.  I’ve heard that their secret is a closet of classics that all compliment each other.  They stick to a neutral palette that coordinates with everything else in their closet, while they let the color appear in their accessories.  Doesn’t that sound smart, beautiful, and classic?  I’ve made it one of my goals this year, to only purchase staple articles of clothing and accessories that will work with dozens of other outfits.  I need stable and interchangeable this year!

Repeat PossessionsRepeat Possessions has a number of these interchangeable staples that really hold their own.

My collection of Repeat Possessions clothing is growing, and with each item, I’m pleased to recall just how much it is being worn and used.  My Signature Camisole and yoga pants are being worn again and again and again.

This time around, I reviewed the Nikibiki Long Sleeve Crew Neck Top in black, and I think it is fantastic.  It is completely opaque so you don’t have to worry about wearing a cami underneath it, and one size fits all.  Truly.  It only comes in one size, which suits sizes 00 to 16/18 and is sold for $29.

I. Love. This. Shirt.  I wore it out last weekend on date night with my hubby to the mall, and I think its the perfect top to dress up or down, while being totally comfortable.  92% nylon + 8% spandex = cool and soft.  The long length on the sleeves and drop waist hem is exactly what I wanted.  This shirt is going to get worn to threads.  You know, if nylon and spandex were made of threads, ha ha.

And use the code “Dandy” for 10% off your future purchases!

ModestPop {Giveaway} – CLOSED

I could do anything in a cute dress, couldn’t you?  No matter how bad the date went, or how poorly by interview turned out, I could always face hard things or missed opportunities or even mean people if I was wearing something I loved!  The more likely I am to feel stressed or worried in a situation, the more effort goes into my outfit so that how I look can be the last thing I worry about.  Another thing I never want to have to worry about is how much leg or cleavage I shouldn’t be showing in a professional environment.  While layering is always an option, sometimes its just so much nicer to go modest the first time 🙂

Let me show you the most darling collection of dresses that I would wear in a heartbeat to boost my confidence in any situation!  These are the beautiful dresses of Modest Pop:

4Sleek, professional, and feminine, yes?

Modest Pop is a store that has just boomed since the last time we worked together (and you can read that review HERE).  What once was a small boutique is now a thriving super site of dozens of beautiful things.  They carry tops, skirts, slips, professional dresses and more casual dresses, much like these below and the dress I picked out for myself.

3

Here is the Daisy Dress, which is sold for $48, available in blue or green, and in sizes XS through 2X!

blue3

I love love love this dress!  I think the starch white lace on top is beautiful and the print is so sweet and vintage.  The full skirt is so fun to wear with boots, and the style makes it easy to accessorize.  I love the invisible zipper in the back, the included belt, the refreshingly long length, and the beautiful silhouette it creates.

blue1

The empire waist is probably lovely on girls without a lot of curves, but not so friendly on us full-figured girls, so note that before taking these pictures, I made a quick seamstress alteration and took 4″ off the hem and lengthened the torso with this extra fabric, so that the gathers (which I changed into pleats) would lay beneath the belt and not above it.

blue2

Also note the big and beautiful selection of clothing for sister missionaries!  If you message them on their Facebook page telling them where you are going on a mission, they will message you with a 15% off code!  Must tell my sister…

Go pick out your next favorite dress!  Things go quick, so act fast and make sure you follow ModestPop to get a heads up on new styles…
