Can you tell that we like to read?

Yes, we like to read lots.

All winter long and into the early spring we were shut ins around here.  So all of our reading took place indoors.  We didn’t even venture out to the library.  No siree.  Why is that?  First, it was super cold outside.  Second, it was super cold outside.  Third, it was super cold outside.  Okay you get the idea.  It was super cold outside.  Then… Don’t even get me started on the amount of snow that was dumped on us.  Loads and loads.  All winter long.  I thought that it would never end.  We even got a snow storm when I was postpartum in the hospital with Cache.  Oops. I think I must have left that out of Cache’s birth story.   Yes, I know that I forgot to put that part in.  Basically a HUGE snow storm decided to come rolling in the day after he was born and we weren’t sure if we were ever going to get to leave the hospital.  For some reason when it snows in St. Louis the ENTIRE city shuts down.  Does that happen in other cities?  Anyway, back to our love of books… Now that the weather is simply glorious outside (not too hot and not too humid yet) we can take our reading outdoors.

My friends over at Little Tikes sent Banjo and Ruby these adorable garden chairs.

The chairs are the perfect size for their little tushies and are now their favorite reading spots in the backyard.

Books Are Dandy!

We are a reading kind of family.  We are also a donating to our community kind of family.  One of my most favorite childhood memories involves going to the St. Louis YMCA Bookfair.  If you live in St. Louis then you will not want to miss out on this book sale.  The sale goes through Wednesday, so be sure to check it out!

 

So today we hit the fair:

{Giveaway} My Growing Season ***ENDED***

It’s becoming more and more difficult to keep Banjo entertained during church.  After all… Banjo is 3 years old!  He doesn’t like to sit still or stay quiet, so of course the 1st hour on Sunday is difficult for us.  He goes to nursery (singing time, play time, lesson) for the 2nd and 3rd hours, so he’s someone else’s problem then.  :)   I’m only joking about him being a problem.  He really is a good kid.  Just a kid.  I often find myself looking around during that 1st hour of church and see that others are struggling with their children too.  So fortunately it’s not just Banjo making all the noise!  :)  One thing that I’ve found to be particularly effective is his “My Quiet Book“.  We received this from My Growing Season quite awhile ago and it’s awesome!  He loves to take the items out of the pockets, etc. We’ve even found that children sitting in the pew in front of us like to turn around to see his cool book.  ;)   Recently My Growing Season sent us the “Let’s Count 123” quiet book and it’s another hit with Banjo!

I’m a puzzle kind of gal.  It’s just so relaxing to sit and work on them.  I may not be very good at them, but I like working on them!  I’m just not very spatially skillful.  ;)    My son on the other hand has the spatial skills!  He loves puzzles and I love the fact that he loves them.  They can keep him occupied for hours and it’s something fun we can do together as a family.  Plus, it helps to develop logic and problem solving for his little mind!  Recently this fabulous company, Twin Sisters Productions, sent me this way fun puzzle for the little guy:

It’s seriously ADORABLE!  The pieces are jumbo size perfect for his little hands to manuvere.  And it’s over 3 feet long making it a really cool floor puzzle!  But what’s more is it came with a CD of music and an activity book.  Both are dedicated to teaching about what to do in an emergency and the steps for dialing ‘911’.  Yep it’s fun, musical, and educational!

In fact all of the items carried by Twin Sisters combine fun, music, and education.  How fun would this US Map floor puzzle be?
