Hey all you winter fashionistas, need something to keep you warm that also has a touch of pizzaz? I sure did! And since I’m of the church going faction I really wanted a coat that would be long enough to cover my legs and add another layer of warmth when I’m wearing a dress.Apostolic Clothing happens to have dozens of floor length dresses, jackets and long coats perfect for sprucing up your winter wardrobe and they are adding new styles all the time!  I love coming back to their site and seeing the fresh inventory just waiting to dazzle my closet (ha).

If you haven’t heard of Apostolic Clothing before you’re really missing out.  They are an awesome store that specializes in modest modern & vintage style clothing (thinks trendy patterns, flattering cuts, and long stylish dresses and skirts).

Anyway, I was over the moon when Apostolic Clothing asked if I would like to review a winter item, following my review of their ballerina skirt a few months ago (you can read about that here).  I choose the Adora, one of their long dress coats time.

This coat drops to just below my knees, and has a quilted/ruched type design that is elastic and pulled the coat around my curves, making the coat also resemble a dress.  Actually if your look at the picture on Apostolic Clothing website they’ve accented the coat with a black belt making it look even more dress like (though the belt does not come with the coat).

It has a high popped up collar that rests just under your jaw and is great for wind protection along the sides and back of your neck though it doesn’t close in the front so if you’re going for warmth with your fashion you’ll want to pair it with a scarf.

It’s also a really light weight coat, (made from 100% polyester) I would say it could easily fall in the jacket category and is ideal for warmer winters days when you don’t want to haul around a heavy bulky coat, but you still want protection from wind. I’m quite tall (5’10”) and I found the sleeves were just a touch short for me, ending just above my wrist. I ordered a medium and if I were to do it again I would probably go up a size just for the sleeve length, but I suspect not many of you are going to experience the same height issues.

Finally this coat comes in tons of colors (blue, black, white, red, purple) and sizes S – 1XL.  So if you’re looking for something to add some color to the bleakness of winter one of these colorful numbers might be just the thing.

Check out Apostolic Clothing for more great modest winter styles, perfect for Christmas and ideal for winter weather.

Apostolic Clothing {Giveaway} – CLOSED

Do you ever feel like all the cute dresses are super short and/or show a lot of skin?  Unfortunately, I do – and while I adore dressing up, I’m just not comfortable showing that much skin.  (I’m no spring chicken over here). To make matters worse so much of the clothing marketed as “modest” looks like someone shot the couch. *cringe* *shutter*   But really, if you want a skirt that covers your knees and a dress that has sleeves and no major (reveling) cutout, your options are pretty limited and generally pretty bland. (Thank goodness for maxi dresses right?).

Anyway I came across an ad for Apostolic Clothing and I was sucked in like sand and a shop vacuum.  There is such a thing as stylish modern clothing that also doesn’t make me look like an 80 year old grandma???

Apostolic Clothing is amazing!  All of their clothes will keep you covered but for once you don’t have to sacrifice your sense of style to wear a dress. (They even have a bunch of stylish plus size clothing!) and cute vintage looks to boot. Here is a little preview of what I’m talking about:

I couldn’t wait to work with Apostolic Clothing, and I was so excited about the review I literately had their site up for two days while I was narrowing down my options for a review item.  Toward the end when I had my list narrowed down to four options I finally had to have my husband wight in. Ha!

I’ve seen these tulle skirts around and I think they are dreamy. I was thrilled at the chance to review one, and the opportunity to channel my inner ballerina.

The skirt has six layers, one very wide tulle layers, four more narrow tulle layers and one satin like layer that reaches just below your knees on the very inside of the skirt so the whole thing isn’t see through. The top of the skirt has the tulle folded over an elastic band.

One thing to note is the skirt is a one side fits all, which always makes me a little concerned.  I thought it seemed a bit tight when I first pulled it on, but I didn’t notice it being uncomfortable or pressing while I was wearing it.  The skirt is also really full (which I love) but the fluff also created kind of a faux muffin top because it puffed out so dramatically at your waist.  Some of the girls in the pictures had a shirt tucked into the top of the skirt and it looked really cute on them but I found having a dressy shirt that would cover the very top of the skirt worked a lot better for me.

The sweeping folds of fabric were a lot of fun and the whole skirt kind of blows softly around you while you walk. The skirt comes in a handful of colors (black, maroon, cream, pink) and is a perfect transition piece for fall because it’s so light weight but it reaches a little lower on your legs and still has some substance to it.

In short it’s a fantastic skirt.  My inner ballerina is thrilled to be wearing it and it makes me feel really dressed up while still being comfortable.

If you’re looking for some fashionable but conservative clothing or if you just love vintage fashion you’ve got to check out Apostolic Clothing!
